Al put in a new driveway for us 7 years ago, it was a difficult, wet, sloped area and it came out beautiful. We then had him do a second one for us on a second property that came out as well. He recently reached out to us to see if we were ready for seal coating. We met, agreed on a price and he was here the next day to complete not only our drive but also seal coated our neighbors as well. Both turned out very well. We are very satisfied. read more

Paid $3,200 in full for driveway in August of 2023, in Walworth WI, they still have not come to do the driveway and it is April 24, 2024. Will not answer phone calls after calling more than six times, will not return phone calls. Filing a police report this week as a last resort. Beware of this company it appears they take the money and never do the work!! Zero stars if could give it. read more

Great crew and great work on sealcoating my driveway. Would definitely recommend. Reasonably priced and quick work.

After researching several asphalt companies and checking references, I hired McCauley Asphalt and signed the contract and paid the deposit in July 2021. I asked that the work be completed before November. After several phone calls - many of which were never returned, I was informed that they wouldn't be able to do the work by then so they discounted me 10% and promised to put me first on the list for the Spring of 2022. After calling several more times and receiving a variety of excuses, they arrived in April to remove the old driveway and grade the area. They did a nice job and I made the second progress payment. Then they disappeared again. I called several more times. They came out to re-grade the driveway and told me they'd be back in two days to complete the work. Then they disappeared. I had told Al that he needed to communicate better so once he did call to tell me that he had no news. I thanked him for the update. I just wish he would have followed through on his commitment to do the work. I called several times and finally told Al that the work needed to be completed by the end of July - one year after I had signed the contract. He promised that would happen. Several people told me that McCauley had done a great job for them but that was definitely not my experience. In August I left a message for Al that I was hiring another contractor. One company that I received a quote from told me others who had contracted McCauley were having the same problem and seeking legal action. I eventually hired Merit Asphalt who completed the work on a couple of weeks and it looks beautiful. The entire ordeal cost me twice as much as it should have but at least I finally have my driveway. I'll be sticking with Merit from now on. read more

McCauley Asphalt Contracting has NOT done work in a timely manner. We hired them in June 2019 to blacktop our driveway, extend a parking pad, add a new parking pad, and lower the slope at the end of our driveway. Despite repeated calls from us and broken promises from them, they finally arrived in Oct 2019. BUT, they left the final coating of blacktop until "next spring," of 2020. We accepted their delay because of COVID, and were told they'd be here mid-July. Now, late July 2019, they've said it'll be mid-August. We have already paid over $4800 for an a job that should have been completed in 2019. read more

My daughter (Ashlee B. - Beloit) gave Al at this company $2500 in February. He has yet to finish her driveway, leaving it worse than it was before. He will not return calls or texts. He has even contacted the police saying that she is harassing him. The police officer knew he was blowing hot air and she went ahead and filed a police report against him. WHY can't you either return the money, or do the work she paid to have done? SHAME on you are taking advantage of a single mother who just bought her first house. Thank goodness there is a statute called fraudulent theft. This man Took her money, started the work, but did not finish it. So this is not just a small claims issue any longer. Attorneys have been contacted. Look up BBB to see additional complaints against this company, not only the two here on yelp. ANGRY mom here that WILL NOT let this go! Please do the right thing and either finish the job or return her money. read more
