Off a recommendation we opted to try WM&CC & the experience was not a positive one. We hosted 65 people nationwide who were in town for one of our annual conferences. The breakfast catering arrived an hour late. The coffee was transported in plastic jugs, that we ended up having to serve out of due to the catering staff forgetting the coffee urns. One of the employees stated that we did not order the urns & was very quiet once the contract was submitted for review. It was then mentioned it was someone else's fault back at their office. Where's the accountability? More so, the utensils arrived dirty where one of our counterparts took dish detergent from our office downstairs to the communal function room in our building to wash the utensils on site. Giving three stars oppose to two due to the platters of fresh sandwiches, salad, fruit & desserts that received compliments & working with Jasmine, the Sales Manager over the last few weeks. Customer service, accountability & punctuality needs to be addressed, unfortunately, we will not use WM&CC again. read more

W Millar & Co catered for a post-conference corporate drinks reception for 300+ people in June 23 and they were incredible! We ordered various reception party platters, hot & cold. The standard & portions of food was excellent value for money and our guests were more than satisfied! We even fed the bar staff with leftovers. We ordered for drop off delivery and the team even helped lay out the platters and set the tables up for us, so they really went above and beyond. They were attentive & highly responsive in the planning & run up to the event too. Huge thanks to Roxanne & the team for their service & for helping us deliver a fantastic corporate party. The ordering was unfriendly; the food was very small in portion for a 5 person serving with no whole portions: the American mixed grill had Asian noodles; the cookies, bars looked awful with a worn strawberry. the bread was frozen -and thawed. we had a VIP guest and made a terrible impression & had asked the sales mgr. to help with food allergies- we should have gone with another caterer. My company ordered from Millar last week for a meeting, and today for a bridal shower. There appears to be a great variety in food. Last week, my boss ordered sloppy joes, with pasta salad on the side. For some who initially made a face at sloppy joes, actually enjoyed the sandwiches. Today was fajitas. Delicious!!! And there's always leftovers for the rest of the week. Everything is set up as a buffet, so you get to pick what you want on your plate. I had a pick up order because work was having an event. I will say that it was a pleasure to interact with Erika (I believe). We shot emails back and forth and she was always extremely nice and helpful. I think after reading stale email voices all day, it was just extremely refreshing to read an email with a bubbly tone to it. Anyways, we ordered 25 cookie/dessert orders, with each order coming with 2 pieces. It did the job for a group of 30 and could definitely feed more. With one look at their menu I sensed this was the caterer we were looking for and boy was I ever right. The ordering couldn't have been easier and more professional. So after using this caterer for years, it's come to this. I wanted to order food for two separate meetings occurring on the same day. Now, I know this was in the month of December which is when everyone and their mother have Christmas office parties but I expected better treatment. I called and explained what I wanted and the date that I was having the events. I told the sales manager that I wanted boxed lunches for the first meeting and hot lunch for the second meeting. She told me that because it was the holidays, they are not doing boxed lunches--fine. I decided to just order the hot lunch but when I told her what I wanted, she told me that it's a room temperature lunch--okay, fine [insert eye roll here]. Then, I asked if I could order a cake because we were celebrating a few December birthdays in the office. If I could order the cake, I would like red velvet and have happy birthday written on it (per the request of the office manager). She said they are only three choices--none of which is red velvet--fine. Can you put "happy birthday" on the cake? She said that she didn't know and that she'll call me back to let me know. I called around 10:00 a.m. and it was now after 3:00 p.m. and I didn't hear back. I called and spoke to Christine (I think) and explained the situation, she asked me the date of the delivery and when I told her, she said that they are book solid. Really?! So, is that why I didn't get a call back? It wasn't Christine's fault but I know that there was a time slot when I called in the morning (or else why go through my order if you weren't able to deliver?). I'm sure that she forgot about me and other people called in and took the time slot. I'm not buying the story of she didn't realize that they were booked up. The first thing the managers ask is what date do you need the delivery. When I told her the date, she would have seen it on her calendar and stop the conversation right there if there was no availability. Luckily, I was able to contact G Street for catering and every worked great! I also used Oliva's diner for the red velvet with happy birthday written on it (very yummy btw). W. Millar's food is wonderful, the selection was great, and all the guests at my company's event loved it. However, helping to set up for the event was kind of a nightmare. We were told to give them at 30 minute window for delivery - which we did -- a window that ended 45 minutes before the event started. Their delivery person missed the window by 15 or 20 minutes and then forgot all the tableware. He said he'd run down to his truck to get them... but didn't come back for 20 minutes. Just as we were panicking that our guests would have no way to eat, and I was on my way out the door to search for a CVS for paper plates, he showed back up. The people we spoke to on the phone were very helpful and nice, but the delivery guy -- not so great. Overall, the food is excellent. But if you're having an event catered I'd suggest calling the morning ahead of time to make sure they have everything you've requested, and make sure your delivery window is well before your event starts. read more

I use lots of caterers for different needs, and to be fair WMillar is one of my favorite; however, lately they have been lacking in their quality. Not sure what's happening with them, my orders lately have been a disaster. They had a lobster roll for their sandwich of the month and I ordered service for 10 and selected 5 types of sandwiches. They only gave me 1 lobster roll sandwich. They are so petty when it comes to seafood, do not order anything with shrimp, you will barely get shrimp. I have events coming up in which I will need to depend on them as one of my top caterers. I have started looking into ordering with someone else. I do not feel as if I can trust them anymore. There has been multiple disasters and the last batch of cookies we ordered from them were very wet and falling apart. Almost as if they weren't really done. I always ask for suggestions because she's the expert and without fail she's been right every time. People absolutely love it. The food is very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Customer service is vital to the success of any customer based company. It will make and break your business overnight. That being said, I ordered from W Millar for an 11:45 lunch. My delivery window noted on the invoice was slated for between 11 & 12. Knowing that 12:00 would be too late as we were on a tight schedule, I made it clear to the sales rep that 12:00 would be too late. I stressed that it had to be delivered by or before 11:30. She suggested that we keep the window. My lunch was delivered at 10:30. We were having all day meetings, so we barely had time to clear breakfast and here comes lunch. I did not order brunch. I later advised the rep via email of my disappointment of the delivery time. Rather than offering a simple apology or simply stating that we may have had a misunderstanding, she responded in a very curt manner. I absolutely do NOT believe the philosophy that "the customer is always right", but I do believe the way in which you respond to your customer plays a vital role in a company's continued success. We hosted 2 days of meetings in one room with 10 people at Georgetown. We ordered both breakfast and lunch with them for 2 days. Our colleagues each day thanked us for providing great food every day. When you're working in small quarters for long hours, food is very important and our group was very happy. We ordered the European Breakfast for the first day and breakfast burritos the second. For the breakfast burritos we requested some with no cheese and those were clearly labeled. There was attention to detail and all orders were correct each day. For lunch we had the Greek Salad Build and the Asian Mixed Grill. In each instance, the delivery folks were prompt if not early each time and called when they arrived. VERY UNACCOMMODATING - tried to make a menu change 23.5 hours before their cutoff, which is 24 hours. They could not bring themselves to overlook the 30 minutes and we are a long standing customer. They were great at accommodating for some last minute adjustments (within reason, of course) and the food was well received by both attendees and presenters. We ordered a mixture of the "Room Temperature" items, the "Hot Entrees", and the "Midday Break" items, all of which were fresh and delicious. I very rarely write Yelp reviews but the service on our recent event for a non-profit event was very disappointing. We ordered $2500 dollars worth of breakfast items from them, bagels and yogurts mostly. They were supposed to arrive at the building by 7:30am and be setup by 8am. We called them at 7:53 and heard back at 7:55 and they were on their way and that another order had slowed them down. They started setting up around 8 to 8:05 after our meeting had started and weren't done setting up till 8:15. People were literally starting at the food but not able to take anything because knives for the bagels and spoons for the yogurts were not placed until 8:15. As a result our meeting had already started and most of the food went to waste. I called them a few business days later and they refused to give us any refund for a portion of it. They said I should have called that day. As any event planner out there knows if you are running an event you are too busy on day of to complain to vendors who don't provide the service they are supposed to. We went back and forth several times and I said I was just looking for a reasonable adjustment, maybe 20 percent or so. And instead of keeping a customer and just giving back 500 dollars of a $2500 order they said there was nothing they would do. read more
