I stayed at the W Hotel for one night in honor of my birthday. I was with 3 other girls, and we originally booked a regular room with 2 beds. Upon arrival, Jeff Rose, the director of the Welcome Office, (also the one who checked me in) upgraded my room to a Cool Corner Suite and provided us with 5 drink tickets for the bar/lounge! I thought that was so generous. The atmosphere of the W is so hip and contemporary, I booked this hotel mainly bc it's right across the street from the club and because the W is known to be fab. Loved it and my friends and I had a blast and loved the Bose system in the room. Lighting in room could be a tad better but it was no biggie. And the beds feel like clouds. I went to only the hotel lobby bar, it was the worst experience I have ever had, which has driven me to write this review. The staff are a bunch of snobs, NO SERVICE, and way over priced! The door men (boys) are rude, ignorant and unprofessional. I would never step foot in this establishment EVER AGAIN. read more

Let's be honest, a W hotel is defined by its lobby bar. The W either revamps an old hotel or starts from scratch and here in Boston they turned a parking lot into a hotel. Architecturally it is a beautiful structure, a wonderful use of the space and a healthy breath of fresh air to the Theater District. The lobby bar takes the open space and creates small nooks to have large or intimate gatherings for work or play. The drink list and appetizers are more than adequate but I think that as far as W's go this one is the newest, not the newest and greatest. It comes down to small details for me, where some W's shine and others just seem to be cookie cutter. It might be sort of anal for me to even be so critical, but W sets a high bar. I refer you to the likes of W downtown Atlanta, W Montreal etc. Either way this is a great spot to meet for drinks and if your coming to stay in town I am pretty sure you will be satisfied by the accommodations and service. read more

Great hotel, well located, great service... after I casually mentioned that I would be driving to see family in Maine tomorrow, the front desk clerk (Lilia) took the time to write me a personal note and send up some chips, water etc for the road trip - very unexpected but the kind of thing I'll always remember when choosing a Boston hotel. read more

Updated September 2010: Came back here for Labor Day weekend and the services were much improved. Parking was quick, and staff seemed more attentive. They even took good care of our dogs while we stayed the weekend. No real complaints- decent experience. read more

Although I've always enjoyed W hotels, don't expect a good nights sleep during late may in Boston. Also, so much for accommodating customer service. I told the front desk about my issue and instead of trying to make it right she made excuses for why it was so noisy. Even during check in it was too loud for me to speak to the front desk representative. While great for partying, someone should expect to be able to get a decent nights sleep and check in without yelling so they can be heard. read more

Review of the food / room service. I ordered the tuna tartare and the slow cooked salmon. The food is very good, particularly for room service which I typically am not impressed with. Compared to other Ws, the food is fantastic. I have yet to determine the overall service but it seems like the hotel is off to a great start! The bar downstairs is packed! read more

Decent, but for a W, this was a disappointment. It's trying too hard to be fashionable, but not trying hard enough to make sure the guests are comfortable and happy. Example: instead of a wall separating the bathroom from the bedroom, there's a kitschy, mostly-transparent piece of fabric artwork acting as the wall -- meaning that every steamy shower is an event for all the room to experience. Another example: the lighting master switch forces you to decide between having a nuclear-blast of light in the bedroom, or no power at all to any other switches. read more

The hotel is ok. Truly nothing special..... somewhat disappointing. The location is very good. The decor pretty dull and worn. Really nothing cool in comparison to many hotels these days including other W hotels. Speaking to that ... no music in lobby or elevators, flowers in lobby on their way out, concierge while nice could not recommend restaurants in the area without looking them up on line- uh which we could have and did do already. Wanted some local insight. Inside the room you could not turn on bathroom light without turning on bedroom light so take a flashlight or phone with you into the bathroom while your partner sleeps.... just bad design. The maid walked into our room at 9 am even though we had a late 4pm checkout and sign on door. Our experiences with W has been in NYC, Montreal and Miami. DO NOT BOOK HERE!! My wife and I were treated like peasants the evening of December 27th at the W Hotel in Boston (Stuart Street), by the front desk manager on duty that evening. We had booked a room several weeks in advance and received confirmation emails up through the day prior to our scheduled arrival, however, when we showed up to check in, the manager at the front desk told us that our reservation had been cancelled that afternoon. When we asked for more information she told us that the hotel attempted to charge the credit card on file that afternoon and it was declined (which was a flat out LIE confirmed by our bank) and that it was the hotel's "right" to cancel the reservation. She also said an email should have been sent to us notifying us that the room was no longer reserved (LIE #2), but we received nothing and she refused to provide anything to validate this claim. This "manager" then refused to even help us book a room at another affiliated location nearby telling my wife to "do it on your own" using her cell phone (this woman clearly should not be in the hospitality industry). It was only when we were on the sidewalk with our bags and no where to go, with my wife in tears, that one of the gentleman working valet and another woman come over to offer help as they had overheard the exchange at the front desk. The pathetic excuse of a manager that we dealt with and the hotel never even offered an apology and seemed more interested in spinning the situation in an attempt to make it our fault! It is one thing for an error to have occurred, I get that, but it is a completely different thing to handle the situation in the way that hotel management chose to. I have never been made to feel so worthless in my life and will NEVER stay at or recommend this hotel again in the future!! read more

The Market restaurant at the W is AMAZING! The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgable about which items are gluten free. The pea soup with parmesan foam and the steamed shrimp salad with avocado and Meyer lemon dressing was the best food I've eaten in Boston...been here four days. I was at the W lounge area on Saturday night with a friend prior to the Sting concert. Most concerts I have been to in the past usually have someone openning for the main act and we weren't sure that was the case. Ken Johnson, the concierge was helpful enough to go online and let us know that there was no openning act for Sting. Because of this my friend and I were able to make the whole concert. We saw an incredible concert and were lucky to have someone like Ken helping us out, even though we weren't guests of the hotel. Can't say enough about the customer service! read more

Beautiful hotel property. It's a fairly new hotel but the service quality (other than the bellmen) falls short of what you'd expect from a hotel of this caliber. The best service is from the bellmen. Maybe everybody else should learn from them! read more

The W Boston is far les than any other W Hotel I've stayed at. While its a newer W, my experience in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, San Fransico, Dallas, and NY have all been much better. My first experience was so bad the management asked me to give them a second try, so I'm back and its just as bad as the previous visit. The Valet service or Wheels department is a joke. They say it takes 15 to 20 minutes to get the car but its usually 30 to 45 minutes. STAY AWAY from the valet. My first stay took 50 minutes to get my car and I missed by flight back home. Self park somewhere else or don't bring a car. Most of the hotel rooms face Stuart street, and the windows aren't very sound proof and all the noise from the road comes into all the windows of hotel and makes it difficult to sleep or rest. The valet never assit and open the heavy doors for the hotel guest. I've litterally seen women struggle to open the hotel lobby front doors and the valet just stare and do nothing to help. We stayed for 2 nights on our second visit as my wife wanted to spend a day at the Spa. The wake up call placed the evening prior was missed so she didn't have any time in the morning to get ready for the First appointment. The rooms are nice W style and the Spa is nice. All in all, I would avoid this hotel and stay at another SPG hotel, but this hotel needs massive improvements and significant management changes. Also on our way out the valet was missing again and couldn't retrienve our bags from the storage area. The front desk clerk had to work valet for us and left a massive line at checkin to help us..... STAY AWAY!!!!! read more

I had a wonderful experience at the W a Hotel in Boston. When I arrived there was a misunderstanding, and Gildas the guest experience manager stepped right in providing phenomenal customer service. He also was genuinely kind and caring asking why we were in the area. After finding out we were there for a concert, when Gildas saw us he asked us how it was, and engaged in conversation with us. It was a pleasure to have many caring staff take care of any needs we had during our stay. The only problem we had was when we arrived and one of the doorman was very nice until we told him we would carry our own bags. He was very aggravated that we did not need his service. This particular doorman was very pushy trying to convince us to valet park, but when you are already paying hundreds a night, I feel that parking should be included or at least much cheaper than $51 per day. Overall I enjoyed my stay and I would definitely go back. I could not thank Gildas enough for his service and kindness. read more

This is the goofiest experience I've ever had at a hotel. It looks pretty on websites, and even in the lobby, but once you settle in it's just not worth it. There is SO.MUCH.NOISE. in the room above me, staff outside my door in the hallway, and coming in from the streets. The decor is aiming at modern and catchy, but honestly when you want to attempt a decor like that, you have to be precise. Some elements are random, others show wear and tear more easily. The random quote on a screen in the bathroom looks ...wrong. I ordered room service? Expensive and of poor quality. I get what they were trying to do, but it is not manifested. Form NOT Function! The W Boston has all the contemporary flair you would expect in a 5 star hotel. Unfortunately, no thought was put into the functionality of the rooms. Forget about staying in a double queen bedroom with friends or family. The bathroom wall is a mesh picture which you can see through! I am not talking shadows here. There might as well be no wall at all. Also, dont plan on sleeping during your stay. The room walls are paper thin. You can hear a quiet conversation going on 50 feet down the hall. Not to mention the intimate moment being shared two rooms over! The building is all glass, which doesnt shield the exterior noise either. Since the hotel spent no money on proper curtains to buffer the noise, ever last horn, alarm and even idle chit chat can be heard 10 floors up. I've stayed in other 5 star hotels in the Boston area and elswhere around the country and the W Boston doesnt match up. It doesnt even match up with some run of the mill hotels. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Took the fiancé there for a fun night on the town. The bar was awesome. The staff was great. The room was great - we stayed in the Wow suite which was fun. If you are coming into Boston for a night and maybe a show this is a fun central place. Just remember you are in a city and you'll be hearing ambulances and police all night long - not much you can do about that. I can't wait to go back!!! read more

My partner and I contacted this hotel via the wedding spot in November. It took a few days for Marga Rubio to get back to us as she was on vacation. Once a generic wedding package was sent she narrowed down dates and times to do a site visit. We confirmed the date November 15 for today, Dec 3rd at 12:30pm. We arrived a few minutes early to the front desk saying she wasn't in today but to wait until they contact her. We had to ask several times what the status was until a different staff member asked to see the email where we confirmed the meeting. Marga completely forgot, but what made matters worse was the staff treating us like we made the mistake and insist on taking photos of our email exchange. The woman at the front desk apologized on behalf of Marga and offered to show us the space but couldn't give us any pricing information. Not only could she not give us pricing information but she couldn't tell us the room capacity, any set up ideas or give us any wedding collateral - granted she wasn't an events person. However, we were told that Marga would be in later this afternoon but we couldn't meet with her as she was busy. It was a complete waste of our time and we have yet to receive an email from Marga apologizing. We were very excited to see the space but are choosing another venue because of this service. read more

This rating is only for the bar area. We went here on a Monday for girls night, and it was our speed all the way. The bouncer sort of offended us by thinking/saying we were all minors before we even walked in, so after carding us he dropped off some drink tickets for our first round, which was so nice of him. We tried some of the signature cocktails, and they were kind of hit or miss. I liked the Amelia, but my friend said it was too heavy. Had the kumquat mojito, but it was just average. My friend said the ginger margarita was too spicy. The drinks were a bit pricey ($12 range for cocktail) but normal for hotel bars. Plus, they use only top-shelf liquor and load the drinks up. The atmosphere was relaxing, and we didn't feel out of place in jeans and blouses (most people WERE dressed up in suits and dresses/skirts). Ordered some cake and fries, and while the plates were small, they were delicious. Also, our cocktail waitress looked like Eva Menendez and was smiling and friendly all night. small rooms and the amenities are not worth the price! rooms have a weird set up: no solid wall between bathroom and bed (semi transparent curtain), one light switch controls entire room (bathroom and light near beds). parking is $ 46 a day. loud area. lounge is okay but bartenders are jerks. Only bright spot is that the receptionists were friendly and helpful. read more
