So just to begin with walking to the place was greeted by nice happy gentlemen that had served my son and his mom the day before . I saw they had a good menu and wanted to come here myself as well with my son and two others . The AC was not working On a 86 degree day like you know it's going to Be hot so have it ready and fixed right ? And one of our guest was pregnant as well. So we are waiting and sweating and eating and sweating . We got the pizzas/ octopus, and calamari . All three were on point calamari having not been greasy and a very good sauce, octopus was perfectly excellent, and pizza all hot and crust was good and edible nice and soft as well. Then my son's clams and pasta was good , my truffle pasta had good flavor a bit salty though and the grilled chicken had zero flavor only the trifle sauce made it better. My brother in law had the aranacii balls I think they were and not bad either . My sister got the rissoto if you can call it that. The Rissoto was plain and slaty as well, with shrimp and scallops on the side . It was like you had to put it back together. It's not the worst place but not a great experience and I would not come Back here again unless for apps and pizzas only. And making sure AC works . read more

I ordered calamari and fried shrimp for $19 and the shrimp were tiny and the calamari were the size of a nickel... very small portions. The pizza was decent and I ordered fettuccine with Bolognese that was tiny and not spectacular at all I feel that it's very overpriced for the quality of food. Tasty well charred pizza. i had spicy salami pie with half pepperoni and regular . 2 for 1 uber deal . at first .bite thin crust good balance of all toppings tasty sauce . my salad (pear goat cheese walnuts )was fine but overly dressed and pricey for what it was. not sure what all the complaining about size ! this is about your standard individual coal oven . the only thing annoying is there are no larger pie options for bigger groups . it would be nice if they could figure out a homemade gluten free dough option and offer more veggie pie options. but other than that this will be my new go to pizza joint. i had been a grimaldi fan but of late consistency in char was missing . highly recommend read more

So I went back here for takeout and I don't know.... From the moment I walked in the door I could tell something was off. Waitress was talking to one table and I stood at the front for 7 minutes before even being acknowledged- there was one other worker in the dining room. The waitress was clearly upset with another worker and didn't hide it at all. Once I was acknowledged and helped, she started complaining- to the other worker. Mind you, I'm now standing around for 12 minutes for an order that showed it had been ready for 8 minutes before I walked in the door. She asked me to follow her to the back to pick up our pizzas. She went in to the kitchen and came back and handed me our pizzas - no thank you, no apology for the wait. As she thrust the pizza boxes into my hands, she's steady complaining to the other worker about someone in the back sitting on his ass. Clearly this upset her but why affect your service? Anyway, got home and the pizzas were completely underwhelming. Crust was chewy and the flavor I'd come to expect was lacking. Won't be back any time soon. read more

I've thrown more than my share of parties in some of the best places in New York and I must say Vulcano 081 was right up there with their food and service. The food is good but they overcharge for simple menu items. I ordered a pasta dish and asked for additional protein. Additional chicken and shrimp is $5. I added salmon to the dish, two weeks ago I was charged an extra $13, however the price just happened to change to $18 without being advertised. They have good customer service but adding an additional $18 for a salmon filet to a $22 pasta dish is ridiculous, especially if not advertised. Good but not worth $40 . read more

The staff was wonderful. All of them were super attentive, one was always on top of the drinks, another was on top of the food, another was always attentive to clear the table and pack leftovers. They have a tues Wednesday special of a four course meal, it was an absolute steal! You got an appetizer, salad, entree, and dessert for less that $30. The portions were just right! We both choose different items to share and have a taste of everything. The suppli was packed full of flavor. The pizzas were just as incredible as i remember! The Margherita was and has always been my favorite there with the Bianca coming in as a close second. We picked this new to us place to order a pizza to hold us over till dinner and had no idea that their Margherita Pizza was that incredibly delicious, my goodness, the flavor, the crust the char... my son who is incredibly difficult to feed ate almost 3 slices and let me tell you he's beyond picky even about easier stuff like pizza or macaroni. Vulcano 081 is an excellent Italian Neapolitan pizzeria in Rockville Centre. The house made pastas are excellent and all the staff were observing proper Covid precautions. I felt very safe dining inside. Also, have you ever had Portuguese octopus? The restaurant is spacious, the diners were spaced more than 6 feet apart, and the restaurant was not full of people. We enjoyed the octopus, crab cakes, black garganelli, cavatelli with broccoli rabe and sausage and the Vulcano pizza. The crab cakes were crispy and large. The pasta and pizza were the stars of the show. The black garganelli was perfect shape to absorb all the sweet tomato briny sauce. This dish was overflowing with the generous amounts of octopus and shrimps. I could not get enough of this dish. The cavatelli was so fresh and springy. It absorbed all the savory butteriness of the sausage and slightly bitterness of the rabe juices. The octopus was oven roasted with wood. It was so tender and had a great sear on the outside. It was served with house made humus, crispy salami and cherry tomatoes. This was my favorite way to eat octopus. From now on, I only want my octopus Portuguese style. The Vulcano Pizza was also perfect. I am a fan of the soft pillowy wood-fire seared pizza. The tomatoes were sweet, the spicy salami contrasted mildly spicy pickled jalapeno and the honey made the whole dish sing. This was as good as the pizza from Pizza loves Emily. Food is so amazing: my goto every time I want pizza. Customer service is also always on top, they're always so friendly and communicate things properly. I got the Salsiccia Pizza with honey drizzled on top, and it was absolutely delicious. The Portuguese Octopus was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was so delicious I ended up trying to eat it by itself. Their specials are so delicious as well, leaving me curious at every selection they offered. Finally, their affogato dessert was absolutely amazing. It was my first time trying it, and it definitely won't be my last. If you're looking for a place that offers a variety of casual fine dining Italian food, this is the place to go. If you're debating on eating out or staying in, definitely go for eating at the restaurant. The pizza tastes 10000x better when it comes straight out of their brick oven. The decor was really nice, but let's just jump straight to the food. Started out with the octopus and crab cakes. I haven't had many crab cakes, but good texture, not overpowering, slightly crisp on the outside. The octopus was perfection - tender, chewy (in a good, not undercooked way), smoky flavor, spritz of lemon and homemade hummus with chips and pepperoni on the side of the side haha. Main course was the vulcano pizza - as good as any woodfired pizza you could get, thin crispy crust which is the hallmark, and the spice of the jalapenos chilled exquisitely with the honey. We took some for leftovers and reheats great! The star was the pasta for sure. The black garganelli - squid ink pasta was so fresh, seafood cooked to perfection, all blends with the sauce. Quick pizza craving in the vicinity of RVC led me here. I actually had been meaning to try this place so this worked out perfectly. I Ordered the Salsiccia Pizza; all pies are individual sized pies. The crumbled sausage really make this pie. The sausage ig very flavorful and placed so that there's sausage in every bite. And service was good, felt tended to and meals came out well timed. The calamari and burrata dish wasn't great - the broth made the calamari soggy, there was no bright flavor and was overall a little bland despite the olives, and brocolli rabe. Came here with a group of friends and my boyfriend for dinner. We were craving pizza and decided to check this place out. I must say the prosciutto in one of the pizzas were not good at all. But the other pizza was pretty good, we had a regular Margherita pie. The truffle fries were the best part of our meal. My boyfriend did not enjoy the seafood platter one bit, it was cold and tasteless. The eggplant appetizer was pretty good except he was upset the "bread" was super hard croutons that you couldn't even bite into and when asked for regular bread, they just brought back the same thing.
