I am a production manager and have used Vucacious Catering twice now as our food stylist for a couple commercials. The team at Vucacious is extremely helpful and communicative. Since this was not your typical catering order, we were required to have several pre production calls and examples of their work. Anytime I emailed the team or picked up the phone - I was always taken care of immediately and there were no surprises. On the day of both of the shoots, our stylist came on time with more than enough setting's and food. They stayed on set with us all day to help re-set the food and keep it looking nice. My wife decided to celebrate a major milestone in her life twice in one week and with the help of Vucacious, both parties were great(a brunch and a dinner). Both the brunch and dinner were small events(no more than 13 people). The food was wonderful and the drinks were great. Our child(9 years old) even got to help do some of the prep and she loved being involved and watching the Chef's work in our kitchen. Our guest were impressed with the presentation and how tasty the food was. Now we are thinking of the next event we should celebrate and have Vucacious back! I had an incredible experience with Kim and her Vucacious from start to finish with our office holiday party. I had put out the call for several other vendors, who came back with 2-3 appetizers and a dessert tray for my budget. Kim gave me a huge spread, full service staff, rentals, all for the price that the other caterers gave me a really sad menu. Kim was also a master improviser. We had scheduled an outdoor event during the week of the LA-Bel Air fires. *She* called *me* to see if I wanted to reschedule the event. I feel like most people would be less-than-generous with an act of god like this, but Kim was great, and we rescheduled for a couple weeks after. Little did we know just how freezing and windy the outdoor space would be on that date--but Kim showed her professionalism again and we revamped and brought the party inside. This doesn't even get to the food, which Kim prepares very well in a spot without cooking apparatuses. The food was flavorful, the desserts were insane (I had several for breakfast the next day) and everyone else felt strongly about the food too! She served the following: March Premium Asian Market Salad Kim Chi Fried Basmati Rice Asian Fusion Soba Noodles Asian Spice Rubbed Chicken Breast Vietnamese Caramelized "Shaking Beef" Tenderloin Farmers Market Tofu Stir Fry The flavors and textures of Kim's foodstuffs are unsurpassed. She is a food whisperer - that is to say, a remarkably talented chef. Her Asian Spice Rubbed Chicken Breast may be the best chicken dish that I have ever eaten. The intensity of the flavor is wonderfully moreish and a decided culinary triumph. Her Caramelized Beef was another great success and it was eaten up...it simply disappeared. Now that is a successful dish! Her Kim Chi Fried Rice is an excellent example of that dish...exemplary and so very fine. Ditto the Farmer's Market Tofu that featured a terrific combination of tiny new potatoes, cauliflower and chickpeas alongside the perfectly wrought (and full-flavoured) tofu. All of the dishes were greeted far greater than warmly and this is a tough crowd...a really exacting bunch of consumers. I called Vucacious and got to talk with Kim herself. She was so easy to communicate with, responsive and helped solved my whole weekend getaway food dilemma on very short notice. Plus it was the busiest time of year and she still fit me in (without making me feel like a burden). I wanted a special dinner for me and two best friends and she was able to put together a menu that catered to one friend who is vegetarian and gluten-free while still offering my meat-eating friend and me delicious options. Our getaway was not close to a grocery so she suggested (in addition to our private dinner) some pre-made dishes/meals, which kept well and we ate like queens the rest of the weekend. Chef Kyle came to prepare and serve the dinner for three on location. He also brought the aforementioned food we planned to live off of while we holed up! It was all fresh, delicious and kept well. The first was a 100+ guest luncheon for my mother's life celebration. The staging was tricky because there was a memorial service later followed by a buffet luncheon. The second was a double baby shower for two of my nieces, three generations on the patio. The third was an open-house reception for family and friends. During each of these, special attention was paid not just to yummy food, but food that was appropriate for the guests and time of the event. Each was beautifully executed. Based on the perfect reviews and amazing pictures provided both on yelp and the website, I was so excited to pitch this catering proposal to my company who is currently in the process of organizing a minimum of two corporate events. Sadly, 3 weeks later vucacious catering has yet to send a proposal. I held out 2 weeks putting others on hold hoping they would send over information, calling and reminding them I really wanted to use them, and it was the constant "tomorrow," response (with an attitude by the way) and never actually got back to me. I took way too long to write this review! Vucacious catered a party for me in mid-October, and it was just stunning. The chef and bartender arrived at least an hour before the guests started showing up and they went straight to work, preparing hors d'oeuvres a la minute, setting up the bar, making sure all was perfect. The food was flat-out delicious; all my guests said so and in fact, there was scarcely anything left over -- always a sign of sheer deliciousness. The bartender got a little bit overwhelmed (more people wanted mixed drinks than we expected), but all in all, this was a fantastic experience. I'll absolutely call Vucacious again the next time I need excellent, exciting, beautifully prepared food and drink. read more

I started ordering from them because someone posted that they were doing produce boxes. I noticed that they do full meal kits for a family. We got the Mediterranean kit last week and the backyard bbq kit this week and everything is so fresh, tasty, and healthy. With two working parents, I'm sure we're not alone in stressing over how to get lunch and dinner on the table for the week. Vucacious saves the day. The pricing is probably comparable or more expensive than getting cheap takeout, but it's totally worth it for the quality and because it's healthy - it's like what I wish we would cook, only tastier. For my husband's 50th birthday, we rented a beach house in Malibu to celebrate with our extended family of 12. I hired Vucacious Catering to cater a birthday dinner for my husband and ever one of us thought the Hawiiaan themed dinner was absolutely amazing. Prior to the evening, Kim Vu and her team took care of everything from ordering rentals to finding beautiful fresh orchid lays and Hawaiian flower arrangements. The food (including macadamia nut crusted, oven roasted pacific halibut with tempura green beans and roasted pineapple) and was expertly prepared by Chef Karli. And our wonderful bartender/server, Mark, made and served delicious Mai Tais throughout the evening. Ron, the production manager, made sure everything went off without a hitch. It was perfection. The topper of the evening was the custom cake, that tasted like a chocolate chip cookie (my husband's favorite). Thank you Kim and the Vucacious team. We had Kim Vu cater an Italian-themed sit-down, family style dinner outside for a fund raiser for our kid's school and it was a resounding success. Kim's can-do outlook is easy to work with. She and her team are creative, forward looking and amazingly affordable. Our guests who have pretty fancy tastes, stopped many times during the night to comment on how good the mixed drinks were. They commented on the prochutto and fontina wood-fired pizzas finished with micro-greens and olive oil. They gushed over the oven-fired branzino. In the end, they left the house and outside area as clean as they found it. They BLEW AWAY the price of the other firm that I had bid the project and delivered far more.
