I have been working for VSS since may of 2025, as a part timer, as I have been taking classes. Upper management has been very pleasant to deal with. This is a good company to work for , they definitely treat you right. To start with when you go to a new site, they train you. They tell you exactly what you need to do. If you are pleasant to the client's and remove people that are not supposed to be there. Observe all that you see and report it you will do great at this company. They will keep you busy. The best part is, they do not play favorites. Everybody is treated equally. You have to take the good with the bad as some sites paid differently.Based on their bill rate. I have found that their wages are very competitive. If I was going to stay in security, I would definitely want to stay here. read more

I worked for VSS Security for approximately 10 years. I had several bad experiences with this company. I worked from 2011 to 2019 had to step down for a while because my wife died. During my time with I was very dedicated to my job. I took on sites to relieve other guards or worked to fill in at some sites. I was pulled off many properties. Sometimes because of personality conflicts. And on some properties the manager micromanage me and would not let me do my job. I got kicked many properties where I felt the company would come to my defense but didn't. It was always my fault. I would try to plead my case to no avail. I felt that Karie the branch manager hated me. I came back to the company in 2020 until 2022. Nothing changed. after COVID-19 they claimed they were short handed so I worked long hours on some sites and my last assignment I worked 6 days straight only one day off. No open door policy, my wife was seriously I'll, they could not give me time off to take care of her, no condolences from them, I could go on but I hope you get my point. I would not recommend working for this company as it has poor management and favoritism. read more

Horrible company. Took me off assignment claiming I did not show up to work for the whole weekend. Yet no security guard was called to replace me. Refused to pay me for the hours I worked even after giving to proof I was there working and cut off communication. All on the weekend my daughter was born. read more

VSS security is a great company to work for!!! I have been doing security off and on since 1979 and been with the company over 2 years and I am happy to say I still work for them. VSS is a smaller which has its advantages like if you have a problem with your paycheck you can take care of it much easier. VSS also does a good job with training new employees and is patient giving them time to learn their job. The last item with VSS is they give their employees raises and rewards for working hard. I have worked for VSS for a year and a half. I was pulled from my post by Ms. Karie and not told why. I was told I would get another post and nothing happened, I would call and she would tell me there were no posts or she had paint but women can not work them. Why would it matter if I am a woman? I am told there are no hours but I see jobs posted on this site. I called the lady that they are hiring. Do not work for VSS Security. The Branch Manager will lie to you about posts to give her favorite employees the best hours and best pay. I found out from other officers they are getting $2.00 more per hour than me and she tells me that she can't pay more at the site. I keep asking for 40 hours and she tells me there are no hours available to give me 40. Now she avoids my phone calls and always has excuses not to talk to me. They have ads out for hiring and I even called the office pretending to be someone else looking for a job and was told they have plenty of hours. I also believe this has something to do with my race as I am not the same as her and some of her favorites. If you apply be careful as she will lie to you and cheat you out of pay. I hear about officers getting in trouble all the time, not showing up and still having a job, yet those of us that show up every day get shafted. This place does not care about their employees at all. It's easy for them to take your hard earned money for a uniform and promise to return the fund when the uniform is returned. I put my 2 weeks in and finished my 2 weeks strong and left professionally and returned my uniforms cleaned and they only gave me pocket change back. They make you sign all this unnecessary paperwork like they own you and don't care about you. I recommend not working here at all worst security company. Trust me you can find better! read more

Interviewed with these guys recently, and I would highly recommend not working with them. My first impression of the office was that it was unclean and disorganized. The furniture was cheap and falling apart. I filled out an application which requested multiple signatures to agreements that violated civil rights i.e. polygraph tests, and demanded agreement to give a two weeks notice to terminate employment and an agreement to complete the two weeks. This is illegal. AZ is a "right to work" state, which is sold as a labor protection, but its actually to protect employers so they can terminate employees for any reason with no notice. When we discussed the position they wanted me to work graveyards and basically be available 24/7 and only pay $12 an hour for an armed guard position, state minimum is $11. I explained to the interviewer that I could not justify putting my life on the line for a dollar over minimum, not a living wage, and that the agreements and requests in the application were unreasonable and likely illegal. Needless to say I didn't take that job... Based on the other reviews it looks like these guys are about a rung up from crooks, so I would stay away from this organization. How these security companies think they can put guys on armed patrol for that kind of compensation is just egregious. Fight for Labor Rights!!! read more

I hired this company eight months ago. They provided the service we agreed to for a few months. Then four months ago, they stopped patrolling at the contracted hours, stopped checking the property as agreed to and just started doing drive-bys. When I brought this to their attention, they "looked into it". It took days to get a response each time and after weeks of back-and-forth, they refused to provide any meaningful resolution. They've billed me for four months for service they haven't provided. All payments were up-to-date when the problem was discovered two months ago. They are threatening me and the only person who will address the problem has no authority and no skill to read the emails they've sent with the service agreement. The owner refuses to offer any help. Save yourself a headache, hire someone else. read more

Their payroll checks bounce, constantly. Not just a one time thing. Avoid them like the plague.

***THIS IS THE WORST SECURITY COMPANY I HAVE EVER WORKED FOR, BAR NONE APPLY SOMEWHERE ELSE DO NOT WORK HERE ****** 1. This company "low balls all its guards with $9.00 per hour post. So either the company is underbidding the competition to get accounts or whether the family owned business is pocketing the $, either way, $9 is at least 1.00-2.00 less than just about every company in the Phoenix metro area pays. Do some checking, you will see what I mean. 2. They have no central dispatching and will frequently get payroll and schedules wrong. They had 1 girl acting as both receptionist and payroll and scheduler, frequently screwing up work schedule assignments. On at least 3 occasions, I showed up at an account only to find another guard there already... and they will not pay you for your show time and or gas. 3. The company has you submit a timesheet every week, but then pays you what they think they owe you. If the company is keeping the guards hours, then why have the guards go thru the motion of submitting a timesheet? this is so at the chance that the guard does not submit a timesheet, the company can withhold the guards payroll for that week or pay the guard 2 weeks later at the next payroll. Since the payroll holds 2 weeks then pays on the 3rd week, its very possible to have to wait 3 weeks before seeing any owed money. 4. They charge an exorbitant uniform deposit of $240. This first of all is at least $140 more than any guard company I have ever worked for, or seen, and then will give the guard back only $120 of it, if the uniforms are returned complete with dry cleaning receipts. 5. I am still currently fighting with this company over $48 of the 120 that was due to me, because after returning my uniforms complete with dry cleaning receipts, I got a nice check in the mail for $72. 6. No Direct Deposit, and You can't pick up your check at the office. Direct deposit is cheaper than paper checks, but imagine the interest and money the company is able to retain by paying by check. If they can hold your $ from payday Friday until you receive it in the mail the following Tuesday, and then until the check is cashed, probably 5 extra days per pay period that they get to hold and use the cash that should be out of their accounts x26 paydays you can see why they do this. Now they claim, that payday is on Friday and the checks are mailed out on Thursday. But, I worked for this company for about 9 months and I never received a check from PHX to Mesa earlier than Tuesday and sometimes Wednesday. 7. Lastly, don't believe all the trophies and accolades around their office. They obvious paid or gave enough $ to make sure they are rated #1 by the so called "Ranking Arizona" employer/business review. I'd give much higher points to Trident Security, or Emerald Security, these are 2 well run firms that you should apply with first, and Emerald pays weekly. read more
