This was our second time here but this time with a party of 7. As usual the food was excellent as were the cocktails. However, it took well over an hour for us to finally get our main courses. We had a 6:00 reservation. We ordered about 6:30 and our food (other than salads) did not arrive until after 8:00! Not an acceptable wait time. We had guests from Dallas who had hoped to head back by 8:00 but instead did not leave the restaurant until 9:00. No explanation was given for the delay and not sure we will be back. read more

We visited V's for our anniversary dinner a couple weeks ago and had a great experience. We weren't sure what to think about the "speakeasy" concept but it's actually a executed in a really cute way. My husband got a huge kick out of talking to the mob boss guy before we were seated. We ate early (5:45pm) so it wasn't super crowded when we got there, but it was bustling and busy by the time we left! It's a fairly small space but it's decorated nicely and the lighting was good - definitely an intimate vibe, and loud enough that you don't feel like everyone is listening to your conversation! The food - all of it was excellent. We tried the crab cakes, bruschetta, beef tournedos, boneless ribeye and pecan pie. The appetizers were delicious, although I will say the bruschetta is really not what we expected- it was more like a baked cheese dip with tomatoes almost. We liked it and ate it all, but if you're expecting a traditional bruschetta this is different. The crab cakes were great, I could have eaten 5 more. Entrees: my husband said the ribeye was the best he's ever had. I had a bite and it was great. The beef tournedos were great - I mainly wanted to try it for the red wine sauce and it was amazing. The parsnip mash just tasted like regular mashed potatoes, it was really good. Drinks/dessert: the smoked old fashioned and espresso martini were awesome. They smoke the old fashioned at your table, it was a cool presentation. Pecan pie was a little on the small side, so if you're full after dinner but still want something sweet it would be a good option. Ambiance was fun, looked forward to this visit for over a year (had to canx twice). Small things like not changing out silverware between courses and leaving dirty plates before bring out new, and attention of servers kept it from being more upscale and the food kept it from being remarkable. Great menu and for the most part prices on food, drinks and wine were reasonable. Service was good (waiter even suggested we split one wedge salad as they were large), with one exception, waiter asked "still or sparkling water? Still is usually tap and free and that is what we asked for. Charged $5. without notice. The problem was the food. Goat cheese appetizer was great as were the broccoli and the creamed spinach, the only things what were served hot. Lobster Bisque was good but served in such a shallow bowl it was cool by the time I finished it. Baked potato seemed old and reheated. We both ordered prime rib. It was served the kind of gray brown that re-heated meat gets, not the bright pink/red of rare or medium meat. I had to send mine back because it was room temperature around the edges and just warm in the center, wife's was the same but she doesn't complain. When returned it actually tasted pretty good, but neither of us finished it. Altogether not a great experience we were looking forward to. read more

We had our Dinner Experience last night. I Live here full for 25 years. We were weekend's for 40 years. I have to say "We had a Great Time. I would Gladly give 10 for all but I have to save room for improvement. We ordered the Lobster Bisque as one of our items. Chef added Too Much Salt and My Wife couldn't enjoy to great flavor I ordered the Fillet Char/ Medium Rare. It was cooked and served almost perfect. I ate half the order. What an incredible find! This Steakhouse is a secret, 1920 style Speakeasy, complete with hidden entrance and a required password to enter. What a wonderful surprise this treasure is! Being CCL weekenders, We chose to celebrate our anniversary here this year. We usually try a new restaurant in Dallas every year. The speakeasy experience and the 20's decor are awesome! The management and waitstaff were great! They easily and quickly moved us to a larger table when 2 friends unexpectedly showed up to the restaurant. The drinks were exceptional. The escargot and lobster bisque (two of my favorite things that I always try wherever they are available!) were 2nd to none! We will definitely be returning!! read more

Last night we celebrated the re-opening of V's Steakhouse and they didn't disappoint! The Crab Cakes with Remoulade Sause appetizers were full of lump crab meat and very delecious. We both enjoyed the Chopped Salad. Sandy had the 8oz Filet Mignon and added Scallops, four nice big sea scallops, which also came with Kale, Grilled Asparagus and a Baked Potato. She really enjoyed it. I had the Texas Star, a 24oz Bone-in Ribeye that's dry aged for 45 days with Balcones Blue Texas Bourbon, and had it topped with Sautéed Mushrooms. I also had mine with Grilled Asparagus, Kale and a Baked Potato. It was flavorful, delicious and was cooked to perfection at medium rare . We both enjoyed a bottle of Cooper & Thief Red Wine Aged in Bourbon Barrels which really complimented our steaks. read more

My family of four enjoyed a great early New Years Eve dinner at V's. The food was fresh, including crab and shrimp. Three of us had steaks and they were all delicious. The Shrimp Scampi was fresh with a great lemon punch. The Blackberry cocktail was as sweet and delicious as my wife wanted. The old fashioned was okay-ish. Desert was great. Service was fantastic. It was a magical evening from coming in the side door after guessing the password to the ambience of the private room.
