Buying my boat from Shaun was a great experience. Good guy, helpful tries to get you the best deal for sure. Now that being said... the mechanic, don't know his name, is an arrogant prick! I had a fish finder install that I needed done. Initially when I called to set up the appointment the guy seemed kind of put out, like he didn't really want to do it in the first place. I made the appointment for 3 weeks out. Showed up for the appointment first thing, 8 in the morning. I checked in let them know I was there. They told me to go put my boat up in the dirt lot and the mechanic would come up and meet me there... no customers, I was the only one there for service. Pulled my boat up to the dirt lot and waited for about 20 minutes. Went back in to see where the mechanic was and they told me he would be right there. I went back up to the dirt lot and waited another 10 minutes. I could see him moving boats around. Looking around at stuff to do or something. At this time I had to get my child to his camp in San Luis Obispo, he had a field trip that day and they were making me late. so I backed my truck up to the boat to possibly bring it back when he had more time. When he saw me doing that he quickly walked up and the first thing out of his mouth was "well you going to take it or you going to leave it?" I said " if you guys are going to keep me waiting around I will take it." He said "well go ahead then and take it if that's how you're going to be!" Not a hey sorry for the wait what can I do for you? I told him I've been waiting for a half an hour and he called me a liar. He said he'd only been moving boats around for the last 20 minutes. I spoke to a gentleman on the phone he looked up my purchase receipt he said to bring them on in for a refund. Well i get there and then they say I can't get a refund or store credit because the receipt was over the 30 day return window. I was 8 days past the date. I wish they would have stated that on the phone, rather than me bring the items down and to have them say it's a no go on the refund or store credit. read more

I later learned that their lead mechanic had left and they promoted the guy who detailed the boats and had no experience. Do not bring your boat to these guys you will be sorry. Super stoked with our experience and purchase at VS Marine. We've been shopping for a specific boat for over a year. We kept seeing this boat at their shop in Atascadero, but was a little hesitant because the drive was long for our family. My wife and I purchased a Sea-Doo boat from Valley speed and marine, we signed a contract and DMV paperwork and paid cash. We brought it home, spent 4 days cleaning and detailing it. When we put it on the lake it ran poorly was missing and cutting out. We contacted Kris and we brought the boat in for repairs . We advised Kris that we would be going on vacation for 2 weeks and will pick up the boat upon our return. When we returned, Kris advised that they no longer had the boat that it would be too costly to repair it and they got rid of it and we never saw it again. This is my second boat from VS Marine. My first was a Sweetwater 220DL that I bought in 2012. They treated me right from the first moment I walked in the store, and through the entire process. I had my Sweetwater serviced there and they were more than accommodating and helpful. Even when there was an issue once regarding a boat detail job that the contractor didn't do well on, VS Marine went out of their way to make it all right with no hassle whatsoever. When I went to purchase this newest boat, a Bennington Q2550, Kris and his staff were great once again. We knew each other from the previous four years of sales and service on the Sweetwater. It took about 6 months or so from first inquiry to sale. Kris even met us at the lake on a VERY cold December morning to test drive a similar model before purchase. It was about 31 degrees, but he was a trooper and didn't bat an eye. After Kris knew what we were looking for, he kept his eye out and found us the perfect boat, and ended up saving us a fair amount of money. I bought a used 22' fishing boat from them 3 years ago and Kris made the buying experience wonderful and pleasant. They even towed it over to a nearby lake to let me try it out before buying. I have since taken my boat in for service several times, and their service staff, Shawn and Mike are awesome.
