Such a good time! Molly is clear, patient, kind, and great with kids. We did an hour ride which was enough for us. Wear jeans! I had on yoga pants and they kept riding up so my legs got scratched and there were lots of twigs, bushes and branches leg high. Molly took photos and airdropped them to me after. Lisa took my two teens out for a trail ride today, and the whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. Amber and Ruth were speedy and courteous getting us booked ahead, and they communicated really well about what to expect and so forth. The ranch was gorgeous, friendly and welcoming. We had the absolute pleasure of doing a 1.5 hour trail ride with the VS Equine on 11/25 which exceeded all of our expectations. My wife and I went on our first trail ride this past weekend (1.5 hr ride). What a great experience! Beautiful kind animals, I was on a mule-horse and my wife on a horse (if that's important to you, be sure to let that be known in advance!). We travelled through a lovely mixture of open manzanita meadows with sweeping views of snowy peaks, and of the shady mixed forest of cedar/shasta fir (welcomed on a hot day!). The ride was just right for us first timers in getting a great taste of riding and not getting too sore from being in a saddle too long. Would definitely go again!! read more

If you are looking for a nice, easy, peaceful day on horseback in the woods, you've come to the right place. I'd very much recommend this place. It's great for non-riders and riders alike. My 13 year old had never ridden and he had no worries. Note: the first & last 10 minutes you are riding by the highway, which is not peaceful, BUT you are not charged for that time. We just did a horseback riding excursion with them to Faery Falls! It was so beautiful and private. Ruth was so accommodating, friendly, and informative. She, Julie, and Christie were our guides and they made us all feel comfortable and safe on the horses; even for our kids' first time. We got to ride Skip, Paisley, Happy and Wrangler!We started at their site to sign paperwork and get fitted for helmets while they saddled them up. We followed the horse trailer to the trail head and parked in shade. The trail itself was beautiful; 90% shaded the whole way amongst the trees and bonus that it ended with the falls. We got lucky because we were the only ones there, like our own private waterfall. They offered their kennel to leave our dog there or since it was shaded we were able to leave him where we parked. The best experience of my Mt Shasta vacation! I've never ridden horses before, but my wife has had plenty experience. She finally convinced me and I budged. I'm so thankful we picked VS Equine! I contacted Ruth from VS Equine via telephone for some questions i had regarding booking. This was late at night so I didn't think any one would answer. Ruth actually did answer and answered all my questions, despite cutting into her personal time. Ruth was gone clearing the Pacific Crest Trail the day of our ride but our guide (I think Kelley was her name) was amazing! She was informative but not condescending, especially toward a newbie like me. I was apprehensive and probably seemed nervous but she did just the right things to get me warmed up and comfortable till i slowly got onto my horse, Snoopy. Once I was on, I realized the horse was gentle and calm. Once in the trail, our guide told us alot about the area we were in. Once we were over the information she switched gears in such a way that she became from feeling like a guide and supervisor to just a friend on a ride with us through the woods! Hands down one of the best experiences we've ever had! We will DEFINITELY make arrangements for another ride with VS Equine. Not your average horse trail riding place! Customer service at its best! Note: we were surprised when out guide had ice cold waters and snacks in our saddle for our ride! She also doused some bandanas in cold water for our necks and tied them on us. Fun experience. I went with my daughter 13 and son 9. My son was really scared and the trail guide was helpful in making him feel comfortable. She took his reins and guided his horse during the trail so all he had to do was sit there - which made him less anxious. It started pouring down rain during our ride, but it was kinda nice and very relaxing. Will definitely come again next time we are in Shasta. read more

We made a big trip for visiting this place. You should book your ride before. It was my first experience there. The trail ride will be cost around 75$ per person for 1 hour, but in general it will be longer. Before you will start your trip you will have instructions for riding (if it will be your first experience). Their horses are super friendly and you will definitely enjoy this trip. read more

My daughter, myself and my mom went on an hour excursion around Lake Siskiyou with our guide, Jordan. She was the perfect guide: calm, knowledgable and informative. The lake views were beautiful, the reservation process with Ruth was seamless and the ride was great! Ruth was able to text me back the same night and went above and beyond customer service to make sure my roommate and I were able to book a last minute trail ride. This was such a great experience for anyone, especially if you've never been around horses but would like the experience. The ladies were so nice, helpful and patient. We took the faery falls tour and it was beautiful. When we got down to the falls they let our family take our time together and enjoy everything for as long as we wanted (we didn't take advantage of the time we were still considerate of their their time.) Wonderful experience! My mom and i went on a one hour trail ride on Mother's Day. Beautiful, calm ride. We are experienced riders but it's been a few years since we've ridden. From all of the trail rides I have done, this was by far the best. Ruth was very informative and knowledgeable of the area. On a hot August day, she took us for a long trail ride along the McCloud River. This was a gorgeous trail that was pleasantly cool in the shade. I would highly recommend paying a little more for the longer trail ride as it is well worth it. The horses are very well trained and responsive and not the traditional bored trail horses who just follow nose-to-tail of the other horse in front. Ruth's experience with horses and packing into back-country made us feel comfortable and in good hands. It was truly a wonderful ride and I would definitely return for another ride. read more
