Come for their Dubai Chocolate cake that is one of the best cakes ever! Stuff your box with all their other wonderful delicious bakery items such as napoleons, eclairs, pastries, cakes, baklava, Armenian treats and lots of different cookies! Super friendly woman owned who will explain the so many different specialty middle eastern/amenian sweets and bakery items that they have! Coffee too! This is one of the best bakeries in the San gabriel valley and has been here for decades! Hidden gem!

Vrej Pastry is a Mediterranean bakery owned by a very lovely family. There are a variety of pastries, cakes, baklava, cookies, and they even have Ashti ice cream (IYKYK)!!! I tried the Cigar Roll, Tiramisu, and a Baklava. All were delicious!! The Baklava was flaky and layered perfectly, loaded with chopped pistachios drizzled w honey syrup. The Cigar Roll had rich dark chocolate with lucious cream inside. The tiramisu was delicious and creamy and had the perfect balance in texture and taste of cocoa powder & espresso. I didn't get a chance to get Ashti ice cream this time, but if you know about this ice cream, it's delicious!! Definitely coming back to try other pastries.

I feel the current average of 3.5 (5/4/22) accurately describes my experience here. I discovered this place over 8 years ago and what really stood out was their honey cake. That had me going back often, though some days, they didn't even have it. Recently l was a block away and decided to drop in again. Vrej Pastry is like an ethnic dessert shop. The interior is clean and their display cases are full of pastries and cakes. Some items are familiar, like the Napoleon or baklava. Some, I had to ask what they were. After scoping out the display case, I got a few slices of honey cake and caramel cake. The honey cake looks and tastes very different from what I remembered it to be, which resembled corn bread with a noticeable honey flavor. Now, it has the appearance of a layered chocolate cake with a subtle honey flavor. The caramel cake was a bit better, but also heavy and creamy, like the honey cake, and both were too sweet and creamy for my palate. Vrej does offer a lot of varieties, and if you have a sweet tooth, this is definitely a place worth visiting. But for me, I can't eat much of something that's very sweet and full of cream, and I'll still be on the hunt for that old honey cake I miss so much.

    Inside of rum ball

I came here after I asked on FB if any places in the SGV sold rum balls and was told about this place. The rum balls were perfect! Not too sweet. The problem was everything else was. Likely flavorless cream to the extreme and not exactly enjoyable. The lady finger had some kinda fruit in the middle but it had almost no flavor or it was getting lost due to the cream being so thick. Pistachio didnt have any other flavor but like a vanilla cream. The almond meringue was ok. Thin creme holding everything together but no real flavor. The black forest though was good but couldve used some more cherry or something. Also the woman who works there is rather harsh but since I'm there for a short time it was fine. All in all I wont get anything else from there except the rum balls.

Vrej Pastry in Pasadena is my go to for all celebratory cakes! They do a wonderful job creating the decorations from a photo I give them and I have never been disappointed. I highly recommend this place.

Went and ordered a cake for my mother in law and asked for to be flamingos in their and decor . This is what I got 75 bucks for this small ass cake ever and I went back to show them the head fell off even and that it was to bland looking , she just fix the head and said that how much they charge for special cakes . What so special about this cake ... their way better is pastry locations out there . . Ralph's is even better than this place . A 3 year old would of done better job ! Never again what a rip off

We should have allowed that to be our indiscretion for the day. But nooooo. Mr. B can smell sinfully yummy calories, even with a bag over his head, a mile away. Their specialty... chocolate croissants. Thus, we let Artisanal Goods lure us in. No parking, way too busy, way too full to seat us, a line bursting out the door, the tiny bakery cafe still seduced us. That is, Mr B circled the block in the car but pushed me out to get in line. It was the idea of a flaky, buttery, chocolate croissant crumbling all over his shirt that made him do it. And I had no intention of saying no. The line went quickly. The last Kouign Amann had just escaped my clutches to the guy in front of me, darn it. But there were still trays upon trays of freshly baked, massive chocolate croissants displayed in their custom, wood display case right next to the register. Sorry about no pictures, but you know how things get out of hand sometimes. However if you want to experience an orgasm in pastry form, I suggest you high tail it here.

Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt like I was inconveniencing them just by ordering. A friendly attitude goes a long way, and that was completely missing. The coffee was even more disappointing. It had almost no flavor and tasted watered down, especially for the price. I expected a quality drink, but it was bland and absolutely not worth what I paid. To make matters worse, we were told to leave the patio an hour before the shop was even closing. If the patio has different hours, that should be clearly communicated instead of asking paying customers to leave early. Overall, this was a frustrating experience. Between the unfriendly service, flavorless coffee, and being asked to leave well before closing, I won't be coming back. There are plenty of other cafés in Pasadena that offer much better coffee and treat their customers with respect.

Very disappointing experience with how we were treated…read more We went here for lunch last weekend and waited about an hour and a half for a table. When the host at the front, who was managing the waitlist, told us our table was getting cleaned, she pointed to a specific table that was being cleaned by the busboys. Shortly afterward, I saw a customer approached the staff, and they seated him at the same table we had just been told was ours. I immediately asked the manager what was going on. The manager told me that the host had "said it wrong" and that the other customer had a reservation. I understand that reservations need to be honored, but then why were we told that this particular table was ours after we had already waited 90 minutes? We had given our name, followed the waitlist process, and patiently waited. If there was a reservation for that table, the staff should have known and communicated that clearly. The next available table could have been given to the reservation party. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was the manager's attitude toward us compared with his attitude toward the other party. We had done nothing wrong. We were understandably unhappy because someone else was seated at the table we had just been promised. Since the confusion was caused by the restaurant, we would have appreciated at least a meaningful "I'm sorry." Instead, the manager seemed annoyed when speaking with us (think about a cold tone voice and side eyeing). At the same time, he was smiling and friendly toward the other party. The difference in attitude was very noticeable and left us feeling like we were not being treated fairly or equally. This was especially uncomfortable with the difference in our ethnicity and the other party. I cannot say for certain that race was the reason for what happened, but the combination of being passed over for a table we were told was ours, and then seeing the manager treat the other party so differently made it very difficult not to question. I hope the restaurant reviews how its hosts and managers handle situations like this, because customers deserve to be treated consistently and respectfully.

Came here for the souffle pancakes and they didn't disappoint!…read more My party of 3 stopped by Saturday afternoon 2:30 pm and it wasn't crowded. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. We chose outdoor since it was such a nice day out. They have all of their desserts on display in the case, so you can peruse the options and see what looks good. So many of the desserts looked good, like the matcha yuzu chiffon crepe cake or the rose and lychee crepe cake. We ordered via the kiosk and got the mango sunshine souffle pancake ($16.50) and well as a couple drinks. My drink was the white peach lemon jasmine bliss ($6.25), with 50% sweetness and less ice. Even though there are signs everywhere saying that it takes 15-20 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be cooked, ours came out super quickly, in 5 minutes or so. We got it with the sauce on the side, but I regret doing that as I saw others getting it with the sauce on top and it was beautiful. The pancake was super fluffy and a bit eggy as well. We all really enjoyed it with the mango sauce. I made the mistake of eating the pancake first before trying a sip of my tea. The pancake was pretty sweet, so I could barely taste my drink, but I think it was good? I could taste a bit of the lemon but definitely not the white peach, which is a lighter flavor. I got a slice of their Hokkaido cheese cake roll for $7 to go and had it the next day. It was okay but definitely a bit pricy for what you get. I'd love to come back to try their other desserts and pancakes!

It is not really cute or aesthetic in any way... and the whole place could use a refresh. There is a covered patio with a few tables outside but at the moment it is a bit haphazard and not the nicest because the space next door is doing construction & there is a large dumpster on Green Street. We ordered Black tea & Floral Pineapple Blossom tea drinks, Peach Crepe Cake and a Peach Souffle Pancake ($17.50) via the kiosk. When you order, you receive a text that lets you know your order number, has a receipt, and also an expected time of delivery. The drinks were ready about 15 minutes. They were both fine, and prepared correctly. The peach crepe cake was brought out a few minutes later. My mom enjoyed it and it looked very pretty. Then the time that the entire order was supposed to be ready came and went. I checked in with Nick at the counter and he said that my souffle pancake would be ready in 5 minutes. About 7 minutes later, when my mom was done with her cake. Nick brought it over and set it down in next to me. It was jiggly, huge, and very wobbly. I slid it over so it was in front of me, and the top pancake fell off of the stack, and flipped over so the whipped cream side was on the counter. I tried to flip it back over and put it on top of the stack, but it fell apart. At this point, I was so frustrated with the situation and grossed out by the possibility of eating whipped cream and pancake that had been on the counter, that I asked Nick to remedy the situation. He offered to make a new pancake, but since this one had taken 40 minutes to come out, I was not willing to wait that long again. He kindly offered an alternative suggestion which I accepted. I tried the Creme Brulee crepe cake which was mildly flavored and pretty tasty. (Maybe I should have just gotten it in the first place, but I had really wanted to try the souffle pancake which I've since & sadly lost interest in.) With that, we bid Motto adieu, and it is unlikely that I will return. A few additional notes: Parking in the area is metered and $1.25/hr with a max of 2 hours, the single bathroom is functional, but there is some problem with the ceiling (there is a gaping hole covered by plastic) making for an unpleasant and potentially unsanitary situation. This should be remedied immediately! Peace.
