We had to bring in our 14 year old lab/Aussie mix who had sudden onset of neurological symptoms and it became clear quickly that it was her time. The staff could not have been more supportive and kind to us. They all expressed their condolences and guided us through the process gently. Been using VRC periodically for the past 14 years for our dog. He has had several urologic surgeries there with no problem but the business has gone down in my opinion. They never seem to have enough doctors on hand to see patients in the ER and you sit and wait hours upon hours for someone to look at your dog or pet. They are extremely horrible at communicating that there is a wait. It was never this bad. The past there times we had to bring our dog here have been the worst ever. We arrived at 8:30pm and there was absolutely no one here in the waiting room for the first hour we were sitting ... almost 5 hours later and still not being seen.. I work in human healthcare and this place has become worse than a human ER. They aren't good at relaying and communicating delays. It has been really horrible experience. And more than likely I will not be recommending VRC again to any friends or family read more

I can't recommend VRC and Dr. Chia enough! My 1.5 year old dog needed a root canal and within 30 minutes of calling VRC, I spoke to Dr. Chia and we had a consult and surgery scheduled a few days out. Dr. Chia was incredibly thorough and walked us through our options so we were able to make an informed decision. VRC made a very stressful event so much easier. 10/10 highly recommend! read more

I was amazed over the dedication and friendliness of the staff and doctors. I came in with a dog that needed a stretcher to bring him in to a dog that walked out on her own because of their care. My daughter has used this facility many times with her dogs and recommended you to us. I had to put down my rescue dog Butler last night after only having him for 2 years. He was about 10. I want to take the time to post a good review because when I did some quick research on emergency vets while I decided what to do I saw lots of negative reviews of other places that people recommended I use. VRC didn't have a stellar rating, but I decided to go there because when I called there was no wait for a doctor to see him. They diagnosed him with a mass and internal bleeding and didn't keep me waiting long before updating me. I've never had to use an emergency vet before and they took the time to explain my options and the process and the costs. They were compassionate and gave me as much time as I needed with him. They seemed almost as heartbroken as I was. I'm glad I took him there for his final moments with me. read more

We've been coming to this vet 10+ years. Our kitty needed an ultrasound. The Good: Covid saftey. They have you stay outside in numbered spots. The Bad: Everything else. We called when we got there and found out they had our house phone and my cell listed. Neither were with us. So we gave them my Mom's cell. They said they fixed it in the system. They told us to tell the nurse why we were there. We did when she came out to the car. She took our cat in. 2 hours later and we were wondering how it was going so we called in to check. They no longer had my Mom's cell. They had tried to call our house and my cell over a 1/2 hour before that. They knew which spot we were in outside and no one had come out to ask us why they couldn't reach us. We know we knew which spot we were in because the person on the phone confirmed it. The doctor called us; now that they fixed the phone number, and asked why we were there. We had already told the nurse. And we'd had our normal vet send over his notes/tests. But she didn't know why we were there. At the end of this call we asked when he'd get his ultrasound (we sorta thought they were already doing it) and were told before 5:30 cause that's when the ultrasound doctor goes home. They must have done his last. When the called with the results the doctor was very wishy washy and refused to commit to a diagnosis. We had told them we were worried about cancer (there was blood in his stool and we had dealt with cancer 2x's in the past with former cats). She just kept telling us about how we could get a biopsy if we wanted depending on how much money we wanted to spend. But she wouldn't tell us if she saw anything to suspect cancer. She just kept suggesting steroids and telling us if we wanted a biopsy we would have to do it 1st because the steroids would forever change the test results even after he was done taking them (which we questioned because I have an illness that sometimes requires them and I know that doesn't happen in people). She also rambled about some other things that it could be without giving us an idea of probability or what our next steps should be. We left over an hour later after we called to remind them to give us back our cat. We also asked them to send the test results to our vet. They confirmed who he was and said they would. We finally left with a terrified cat. We were never told we could go home and pick him up later if we signed a paper. We had no access to a bathroom for almost 7 hours. Afterwards they told us their bathrooms were open. We found both phone messages when we went home. When we complained when we were there they said they had tons of emergencies before us (it is an er vet - we get that). But if they had so many emergencies then why was half their staff outside smoking and playing on their phones? We were parked right in front of the area they were doing that. They never gave us a price at the outset and the cost when it was done was well over the adverage cost of an ultrasound. They never sent the tests to our vet. We had to call them again the next day. Our vet looked at the ultrasound and was able to tell us by looking at it that it was just inflammation of the intestines - not cancer related, no biopsy needed, just a diet change and possible steroids. He also ruled out all the other crap the VRC doctor told us about what it could be. He also told us that I was right - steroids would not change his test result forever after he stopped taking them. Overall I'm not sure I trust them anymore. And they need to get their communication issues fixed. read more

The communication here is terrible we took our dog in on a Sunday night they kept him over night suggested a 4,000 scan to be able to tell us anything. But suggested blood work , They were so quick to take our 1300 dollars for blood work and have no answers for us no results no call backs NOTHING we have called 5 times and NOTHING . we today took our 13 year old Yorkie to a different vet that didn't charge us a penny and was able to tell us that our dog now has a brain tumor and is legally blind . I never read the reviews. But my Peanutsauce (kitty) was in a bad way early this morning. And I had this place in my phone because it was close and my vet wasn't open yet. Long story short, I called and said we were coming in and most likely putting her down. I just want to say that I'm so thankful it was in the wee hours of the morning because it was very quiet. We really appreciated the comfort room. It really makes a difference. I actually feel better that it was there rather than in my sterile vet office. I do not know who the doc was that gave her the dose, but just want to say thank you. After briefly telling you of her history and recent rapid decline, I felt a smidge validated. It's not an easy decision when your pet is very alert when you get there. Thank you for letting my sweet girl pass while in my arms... we are numb and heartbroken and miss our sweet girl terribly already. read more

My wife and I brought our sick dog to VRC, thinking VRC would be of some help. We were very disappointed. When we walked into the lobby with our pet, we encountered a man behind the reception desk who was grossly insensitive to our needs. The first words he uttered were "go somewhere else, we are at capacity" This was at 9:30 pm on a week night. A more disinterested, uncaring and uncompassionate man I have never encountered. One would think someone with such unconcern would never be hired by an emergency veterinary service. I strongly urge any pet owner who may seek emergency assistance go elsewhere and avoid VRC at all cost. read more

A recent visit was a great example of how a veterinary practice should not operate. In addition to excessively long waits, the only doctor who talked to us in person was uncaring and demonstrated a lack of knowledge about what were going through. We called numerous times and were put on hold for up to 15 minutes - and did not get any calls back. VRC used to be the only place to go in an emergency- but it is not anymore. We are sorry we went there this time as we have had to repeat testing because VRC would not interpret the tests. We know that there are some terrific vets there and we also know many have left. Until VRC learns that how you deal with people experiencing trauma matters, we will not return. Our money will be spent where not only our animals are treated well, but we are are too. read more

I am very unhappy with this office . Came in on emergency with my beloved pet who had no use of hind legs , sadly we lost her that day . When i called a few hours later to ask if i could bring my own supplies up to get her a foot print , i was given the run around and also asked if i wanted to purchase the paw print . The reception was not helpful at all . She got a Dr . On the line for me , who was confused as to why she got him and didn't handle it herself . The absolute best animal hospital in the area. Our beagle mix was experiencing extreme back pain. We tried several places for him and everywhere said he had pulled a muscle. Our vet referred us to VRC. They diagnosed his back issue in our first appointment and verified with an MRI the next day - 2 ruptured discs in his back. This time truthfully I may have been over reacting so there was a bit of a wait (we weren't urgent but I couldn't wait until our vet opened on Monday). If you want the best treatment for your animal child you may find yourself here one day. Be sure to know just how much you still have left on your mortgage and whether you want to take a vacation anytime soon. All the people are professional and polite as they can be with 20 other people and animals coming and going within a 15 minute wait time in the lobby. They must have an army of people working there and that's why it is so expensive. BUT.................be aware that whatever they quote you as an estimate will most likely double by the time you pick up your child. Dr. Sadanaga is very good at what he does. But our dog got an awful fungal infection in his sinus cavity. Fungal Rhinitis...............luckily our personal vet described what the procedure was going to be or I'd have had a breakdown when we went to pick up our dog after the FIRST operation. I suggest you think twice about torturing your dog if they get this fungal disease. Not only did we do this to our dog once,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but the fungus did not go away completely so we did it all over again. It is now almost 2 months after all the procedures and our dog is is alive, running around and is my husbands' constant companion. They both are happy and I'm glad they are both still with me. I'd say I'm glad the dog is still with us, but that might make you think I prefer the dog over my husband. Hmmmm? Some people think there is a price limit on what you spend on taking care of your animal child. In this case it was a matter of 6-9 months of living with nose wiping, hott and cold compresses. Snot/blood all over the floor, walls, carpet and clothing. Try to shove bullet size pills down your dogs' throat. Our house was covered ever inch with a blanket or towel. Laundry was done once or twice a day. If you have children or any other animals--if you have a job or other responsibilities--- drop me a line before you have treatment. It was awful. read more

Dr. Webb and her staff provided the best possible care for our family's lop-eared rabbit, Archer. Their response to his need for emergency care was immediate and, again, the care was the best. Even though euthanasia turned out to be necessary, Dr. Webb clearly explained all the options, so we knew we were making the best choice. I can't stand Yelp but I want to warn people that Dr McKenna treated my dog last Friday and told me she would be fine, even after I expressed concern about her health and would have done anything to help her live longer. I said - "Is she dying and she said - "No I have no reason to believe she will die". gave me $540 in pills and she passed away two days later. She needs to listen to her patients or go back to school or get another profession. My vet recommended a different vet hospital and I wish I would have listened. read more

The doctors, nurses, and staff are so kind and thoughtful, and if there is something serious - this is where you take your kids. Incompetent and overpriced! Money is all they care about and lots of it. They will keep your pet until you give them your credit card first. Don't expect them to return calls or save your pet because the emergency care is useless and does basically nothing. Once they let your pet die they will pretend like their incompetence was never their fault. Take your pet anywhere but here. Covid has just given them an excuse for being worse than they already are. Now they can hide behind phone calls that they don't feel like answering and never talk to you or outright lie about your pets well-being because they just don't care. They will literally tell you to go somewhere else if you complain and right now there is very little choice if your animal needs medical attention immediately. I'm already anticipating some kind of response that are disputing this but they are aware of this and they know how incompetent and awful they are. There are only a couple of nice staff but unfortunately the doctors are truly incompetent and will do anything to hide it. read more

My fiancé and I took our cat here and were completely dissatisfied with the service provided. A simple request for an itemized bill was met with frustration, confusion, and untrustworthy information. Both the billing department and the doctors were unprofessional and rude. They were condescending to my fiancé and I have to wonder if me, a man, would have been met with the same level of unprofessionalism and condescension. For example, the fees for professional services were not clearly explained in advance of billing which directly violates Principle 4. Fees. contained in 49 Pa. Code §31.21. This section states in relevant part, "Fees for professional services shall be clearly explained to the client in advance of billing." The practice tried to claim that because we were there once before (over a year prior) we should have been aware of the cost of services rendered the other day. We were so dissatisfied we filed a complaint with the Pennsylvania Veterinary Board and you should know that you are free to do the same if your experience with this Veterinary practice left you concerned about unprofessional business practices. Absolutely terrible business being ran. Don't tell you when they are taking bloodwork (which costs $186) when doing a surgery consult for an ACL tear. I'm confused what bloodwork has to do with a surgery consultation, when the surgery isn't happening at their hospital. Second, their communication to their clients is non existent. One person told me that a consultation fee was only needed once, but then I was charged twice. Tried to be nice to them about the issue, but the "medical director" called and did not apologize for his staff's mistakes, just continued to argue with me. I should have went with Hope Hospital from the beginning. Doctor explains everything that is happening and what the charges will be, and my dog will be in much better care there. Hope is right up the street from VRC, and you will better quality of care and their costs are less. We are already under enough stress when we hear our pet has to have surgery, but then they have to take advantage of you when you're down too by scamming you out on money? My dog has been diagnosed with stage 5 leukemia. I've called a variety of oncologists to get an appointment, all have told me they don't have availability until June or July, except VRC. When I told, Jill I believe, she took action, got my info, the vets we've been to, got all of the recent tests and spoke to Dr. Martin. Dr. Martin got us in not only the same day but within a few hours. I'm so grateful for Jill and Dr. Martin for helping us and our guy Samuel. I guess it depends on who you get and what the circumstances are. The dentist took excellent care of my pug when she was there. My husky was diagnosed with a UTI a year ago and the care was great. We returned for the same symptoms. she cries the whole way there, panting, and restless. When I arrived, I was told the nurse would be out to see if it was necessary for her to be seen. She returned with her 10 minutes later and told me yes she was dribbling urine and probably had a UTI. However, this was not an emergency to take this crying, restless dog home and take her to the vet in the morning. I asked if there was anything I could do and I was told to give her Benadryl to make her drowsy so she would sleep through the discomfort. UTI's are very uncomfortable. I don't get it. I very calmly took my dog and left. I needed to get her treatment tonight. She is currently getting care and will be comfortable tonight not tomorrow. read more

Last night my beloved Maltese went into distress and we took him to the VRC in FRAZER. He was put into an oxygen crate and We went to see him before we left him him for the night and he was jumping up and down in the crate and looked alive. Dr promised he would call me during the night if he took a turn for the worse. nurses and doctor promised that if I didn't receive a call, it was good news. This morning at Dr called at 8 am to tell me he passed away at 4am. Their actions are shameful and unprofessional and have added to our pain. I looked at the bill and questioned two items on the invoice that were for 12 hours of service- I questions administration over this- the dog was only treated a minimum of 4 hours. I even question that at this time. Shame of VRC.! read more

Our regular vet recommended we see a neurologist at VRC. The visit was fine. Everyone was friendly and professional. It was an issue I experienced afterwards that is so unforgiveable. Our appointment was 12:00 noon on Thursday, 3.28.24. After we arrived back home, I realized I forgot to ask for an "Office Visit Summary". I called VRC, and they said it wasn't completed yet. I asked if I would have it by the end of the day, and they said I should get it by then. I didn't. I understand people get busy, so I assumed it would be completed the next morning. I waited until 11:00 am and called VRC. The representative said the doctor did not complete it yet. I stated that I really needed it so we could make some very important decisions for our dog. She said they had to wait for the doctor to complete it before they release anything. I asked if the doctor was in today. The representative said "No, she won't be back until Monday". I said "That is not acceptable. I cannot wait four days for the summary. Our baby is dying, and we have to decide what to do in partnership with our regular vet." I asked if she could reach out to the doctor to complete it. She said basically she can't do anything. I asked to speak to someone in management. She said I could talk to the office manager Hanna. I could not believe how rude Hanna was to me on the phone telling me she was going to hang up on me if I didn't calm down. Yes, I was emotional as our pet of 13 years was dying and deteriorating before our very eyes. No, I was not using inappropriate language nor screaming. Finally, Hanna agreed to send me the notes they currently had (which was simply our input about our dog's condition) and send a message to the doctor asking her to complete the Summary. Hanna did call me back within the hour and apologized for her having a bad day and stated she should not have taken it out on me. We did receive the Summary at 3:45 pm (which was too late to be utilized in our decision) and an email from the doctor stating "sorry it was sent a bit late". Not only did we receive it too late, we most likely would not have received it until Monday if we had not begged Hanna to reach out to the doctor. Needless to say, I am very disappointed in how we were treated and will never return nor recommend VRC to anyone. read more

My cat was referred to VRC by my ordinary veterinarian that I've been taking my animals to for 10+ years. My cat was presenting with a tumor on her leg from a 3 year rabies vaccination & needed a possible amputation to save her life. She was only 3 years old. I took her to Dr. Sadinaga at VRC. He told my husband & myself that he would take x-rays & MRI scans to see if the cancer had spread. If it had, we would have to euthanize. If he found no metastasis then he would amputate the leg. I was told this was not a likely cancer for metastasis & that my cat's recovery from amputation would be easy & that the adjustment to 3 legs would be made quickly & with no lasting effects. We decided to go forward even though we were told it would possibly costs upwards of $5,000. We financed through Care Credit even though it meant that our day to day finances would be left very tight. I was told the day of my cat's surgery that they found no metastasis & went ahead with the amputation. I was told AFTER the amputation was performed. I was told by Dr. Sadinaga & his nurse that I would be called beforehand for consent to proceed. I never received a call until I called to check on my cat's status. So we ended up owing VRC upwards of $4,000. When we went in for the follow up visit after the surgery, I was told that Dr. Sadinaga "missed" 2 tumors in my cat's lungs that the radiologist who double checked the scans caught. AFTER my cat's leg was amputated. I was NOT told beforehand that a radiologist would check the scans AFTER the surgery...not before. My cat never recovered from the surgery mentally. She would have fits where she would turn in circles & when she finally righted herself, she would attach whoever was closest to her. This was not an aggressive or sad cat to begin with. I mentioned the behavior at the follow up visit & was told it may be the pain medicine or maybe the cancer had metastasized to her brain. For the 3 months after the surgery that my cat survived, her quality of life was reduced to nil. She didn't want to be touched or cuddled or picked up. After a while, she stopped walking altogether. All because Dr. Sadinaga "missed" the metastasis. My normal vet told me afterwards that the cancers that the 3 year rabies causes is known to be a fast moving cancer with a very high (almost always) risk for metastatis & that Dr. Sadinaga probably was aware of that before he needlessly amputated my cat's leg. I DO NOT recommend this doctor or this facility at all. Run!! They have no care or concern for your pets...they are only concerned with lining their pockets with your financial hardships. My husband works 80+ hours a week & we live paycheck to paycheck. We would have never chosen an amputation unless we were reassured that the odds were in our cat's favor. We now have significant debt because of Dr. Sadinaga's at best carelessness & at worst blatant cruelty & thievery. I filled out a VRC survey that they sent me after our experiences there & said the same things I'm saying here & not even a return email or phone call was made. Disgusting. I will never utilize this facility or any facility that Dr. Sadinaga is attached to again. As far as I'm concerned, the 3 months that my poor cat suffered is on Dr. Sadinaga's head, as well as, the years of financial hardship that he set us up for. Shameful. read more

When our vetrinary could not determine what was going on with our Stella, they recommended we take her to VRC. At this point, our vet had completed blood work and xrays and still could not tell us what was causing her lethargy. Due to Covid, we were not able to go inside, so an employee came out, took our information, and took Stella inside. As we were waiting for them to complete their assessment, we were contacted with an estimate and asked for a down payment. All before we even understood what was going on. In hindsight, it is apparent that they are more worried about payment then you or your pet. Long story short, they kept her for a day and a half, we went through two different doctors, and they still never determined what the underlying issue was. The following day we were told she was showing improvement and could take her home. We actually had to schedule a time to pick her up and when they brought her out to us, she looked just as lathargic as when we dropped her off. But we took her home, and watched her decline and die within hours. As we watched in disbelief and heartache, we did everything we could to make her comfortable. We even called VRC, even if at this point it was just for assisting us in understanding what we were witnessing g and if there was anything we could/should be doing that we were not already doing. As with every time calling, we were told a doctor would call us back. We NEVER received that call! It has been 5 months since losing Stella, our hearts still ache.
