This office while friendly, is not very communicative with their patients/families and does not make attempts to make us feel welcome and in the know. We adopted our dog and was told that this clinic was an option for us. From the start of our adoption process, we were already warned about the "quickness" of this practice, but chose to continue coming here since the foster family was bringing our pup here. It wasn't until our appointments that we understood what this practice was actually like in how they treat their patients/families. This clinic is very clearly over-scheduling appointments without the proper vet to patient ratio. They are in and then out, and don't try to get to know the patients/families so that we are fully taken care of and informed about the care we are receiving. We're often left speaking with the vet tech, and have only ever seen the actual vet once for probably 5 minutes total after multiple visits; Visits of which we were never briefed on the purpose of. When it came time for our spay appointment, they said we'd receive a phone call the Friday before the Monday appointment. Instead we got an email on Friday saying we'd get a call on Saturday. Saturday rolls around and 30 minutes before they are set to close, still no call, which prompted us to call them to get all the logistical details. They claimed on the phone that they were just about to call, which I highly doubt seeing that when we weren't the only families owed phone calls after seeing all those that came in on Monday to get their dogs spayed that day. The last straw: Our rescue agency has said that our adoption fees would cover vaccinations and spay/neuters. Apparently the spay wasn't covered at this clinic at all, just the vaccinations (we didn't know this since our pup was already a patient at this practice during the foster stage). After the spay, we get a phone call from our rescue agency that the clinic billed them $600. The agency's other preferred clinic only charges about $150-$200 for the spay which makes sense how our $400 adoption fee would have covered this. Sure, the agency could have done better in informing us, HOWEVER, it appears the agency has warned the practice multiple times about this. Apparently this happened enough times for new pet parents that they had a tough conversation with the practice and asked that they inform any pet parents associated with this agency about the spay fee upfront and to not allow them to schedule the spay appointments here unless we could financially support it. After that many disputes from the agency, you'd think the vet clinic would double check with the patients to ensure that the agency would be paying and list the rate of this service. The only question they ask is "is the agency getting billed or are you?". We'd say "the agency. They said our adoption fee covers it". You'd think they would contact the agency asking to verify this BEFORE the surgery to avoid billing the wrong entity or billing the wrong amount. It is clear they didn't do this and went ahead and billed the agency after the surgery, which was when the agency caught the error AGAIN! This practice is all over the place and not transparent with their patients and adoption/rescue agency partners. It's caused delays and confusion costing hundreds of dollars. Not once was I informed of the price of this spay - regardless of who should have fronted the bill (me or the agency). Had they said from the beginning that this costs $600 and if we want to proceed, it would have prompted me to contact the agency to clarify how a $400 adoption fee could at all cover a spay that cost more than the adoption itself. Come to this clinic if you're just looking for quick service. If you're looking for attentive care and explanations, this likely isn't your spot. read more

The good doctor met us over the July 4 holiday and opened his office to give meds to our (outstanding) tuxedo cat Boots to relieve pain and address other symptoms. Who does such things anymore? I know 5-star reviews don't get read as often, but if you're looking for a new veterinarian and want some honest, unbiased feedback, please take the time to read this review. We have a female golden retriever and female yellow lab. We used a different local vet clinic for a long time before finding Malvern Veterinary Hospital last year. It felt like our previous vet valued money over the well-being of our dogs, and we wanted to switch to a different vet with emergency capability before our older yellow lab developed any serious health issues. Our previous vet was very brief with us on the phone - they never answered any questions and always insisted on an exam to diagnose small issues, dismissed our concerns or downplayed them, and during exams, seemed to insist on unnecessary tests and push products without explaining why they were necessary. They never recommended anything that actually helped our dogs, unless it was prescribing antibiotics. Plus, they were really expensive. We did a lot of research and decided to switch to Malvern Veterinary Hospital in September 2020, and it's one of the best things we have ever done for us and our dogs. I don't think we understood how valuable, reassuring, and just plain great it is to have a veterinarian you truly trust until we found them. Doctor Hyduke and Doctor Rockwood are both incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and forthcoming with their advice and opinions. We've worked with both of them for a year now with zero complaints. When we encounter a small problem with our dogs and don't know what to do (so far this year it's been a bee sting, reverse sneezing from seasonal allergies, and a sudden fear of thunderstorms) I can call their receptionist, and I'm put on the phone with the vet on duty as soon as possible. They ALWAYS recommend a solution or prescribe the necessary medicine over the phone when they can (which saves us from coming in and paying an exam fee) and their advice has always easily solved the problem at hand. They have not yet "profited" from helping us in these situations, yet they are still so willing to help. It is so reassuring to know that your vet has your back, and prioritizes your pet's well being over their profit margins. Plus, they trust us to know what's going on with our dogs, which makes us feel really good! They recommended Dasuqin and Adequan for our yellow lab's joints, and after following their recommended regimen, she is moving the best she has in years. When she suddenly wasn't acting like herself this past summer, I took her in for an exam, and they diagnosed her with diabetes and put her on a treatment plan within 36 hours. They have been so supportive and helpful throughout the entire diabetes treatment process, and her insulin levels were easily regulated under their guidance. We have been so, so pleased with our experience with them. It doesn't matter if it's a weekend, late at night, or early in the morning - these vets have always been there for us. We know when the time comes for our girls to cross the rainbow bridge, they will be in the best possible hands here. If you're looking for a new vet, don't look any further. If there's a wait list to become a client, get your pets on it. They are worth the wait, and you will be in good hands. read more

The worst, most unprofessional place I have ever visited. They just take your dog, do the test, and tell you NOTHING. When you ask questions, they tell you to refer to the report they will send. Malvern Veterinary Hospital has cared for the two cats I previously owned, from when I adopted them until their deaths. My second cat died recently of heart failure. When that cat started screaming, I rushed him to MVH, where they treated his emergency as an emergency. Unfortunately, it became clear quickly, to them as well as to me, that my cat's heart attack was due to a genetic condition and could not be cured. Because of COVID, I was not permitted to go inside the hospital, so they brought my boy out to me wrapped in soft blankets, and he died in my arms. We received a sympathy card, but no mention of the bill for those services (including my cat's cremation) until after I brought my newly adopted kitten to them for a first checkup. They really care, and that is why I continue to go to MVH. read more

Started taking my pets here in 1965 - well I rode along with my mom and dad. Happy to say 50 years later I am still taking my pets here. I drive 22 miles. I moved from the area but trek down to Malvern for my animals. Over the years they have cared for 8 dogs, two cats and a parrot. The parrot is 19 and will likely continue here long after I am gone. Two weeks ago was my first time going to see Dr. Hyduke. I have a rabbit who has had stomach issues for over 2 years and I've been to multiple vets and spent hundreds of dollars trying to figure out what was worng with him. We have recently left the care of Malvern Vet after taking our large family of rescue cats and dogs there for years. We began to notice that phone calls were not being returned on a sick animal and that the turnover in the office both in terms of vets and office staff, was becoming excessive. Dr. DeGiacomo an impressive young veterinarian who was a great addition to the practice, left after several months with no letter or explanation to patients who had become accustomed to her care and availability. Dr. Hyduke then brought in another female vet who seemed to disappear as quickly as she arrived, and again, no explanation or acknowledgment to the patients. Dr. Rockwood is a lovely caring person, but we have had reason to question her judgment at times and I became aware from talking to other patients that there was clearly a group of patients that steered away from her and gravitated only towards Dr. Hyduke. With Dr. Hyduke it is not a matter of incompetence, but it is a matter of striking arrogance. He is brusque and he is quick and I never got anywhere close to a "warm, fuzzy feeling" from him. I'm not sure his office staff or colleagues did either, because there seemed to be striking waves of changes in personnel over the last year we were with him. We are happily settled in another local practice with an equally competent but also very kind, unhurried, veterinarian with a much more manageable and well-managed practice. To attest to Dr Hydyke's arrogance, my husband and I just ran into him in a local bar/restaurant and he approached us and asked what vet we were now seeing. We chose to answer his somewhat inappropriate question and his response was, "Yeah, he's just OK.". He then said "They all circle around different vet practices and end up coming back to me." Wow. No interest in ascertaining why a very good client, with 8 pets left his practice after years, and no inclination toward taking any responsibility for what might have gone wrong. We will not in fact be "circling back" to Malvern Veterinary Hospital. read more
