I know 5-star reviews don't get read as often, but if you're looking for a new veterinarian and want some honest, unbiased feedback, please take the time to read this review. We have a female golden retriever and female yellow lab. We used a different local vet clinic for a long time before finding Malvern Veterinary Hospital last year. It felt like our previous vet valued money over the well-being of our dogs, and we wanted to switch to a different vet with emergency capability before our older yellow lab developed any serious health issues. Our previous vet was very brief with us on the phone - they never answered any questions and always insisted on an exam to diagnose small issues, dismissed our concerns or downplayed them, and during exams, seemed to insist on unnecessary tests and push products without explaining why they were necessary. They never recommended anything that actually helped our dogs, unless it was prescribing antibiotics. Plus, they were really expensive. We did a lot of research and decided to switch to Malvern Veterinary Hospital in September 2020, and it's one of the best things we have ever done for us and our dogs. I don't think we understood how valuable, reassuring, and just plain great it is to have a veterinarian you truly trust until we found them. Doctor Hyduke and Doctor Rockwood are both incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and forthcoming with their advice and opinions. We've worked with both of them for a year now with zero complaints. When we encounter a small problem with our dogs and don't know what to do (so far this year it's been a bee sting, reverse sneezing from seasonal allergies, and a sudden fear of thunderstorms) I can call their receptionist, and I'm put on the phone with the vet on duty as soon as possible. They ALWAYS recommend a solution or prescribe the necessary medicine over the phone when they can (which saves us from coming in and paying an exam fee) and their advice has always easily solved the problem at hand. They have not yet "profited" from helping us in these situations, yet they are still so willing to help. It is so reassuring to know that your vet has your back, and prioritizes your pet's well being over their profit margins. Plus, they trust us to know what's going on with our dogs, which makes us feel really good! They recommended Dasuqin and Adequan for our yellow lab's joints, and after following their recommended regimen, she is moving the best she has in years. When she suddenly wasn't acting like herself this past summer, I took her in for an exam, and they diagnosed her with diabetes and put her on a treatment plan within 36 hours. They have been so supportive and helpful throughout the entire diabetes treatment process, and her insulin levels were easily regulated under their guidance. We have been so, so pleased with our experience with them. It doesn't matter if it's a weekend, late at night, or early in the morning - these vets have always been there for us. We know when the time comes for our girls to cross the rainbow bridge, they will be in the best possible hands here. If you're looking for a new vet, don't look any further. If there's a wait list to become a client, get your pets on it. They are worth the wait, and you will be in good hands.

    Boots strongly recommends MVH!

Dr. Hyduke and Dr. LeFavour, and the entire team at MVH, including Bubba (!), are pros, but also so very obviously devoted to the mission of caring for our most treasured family members as we would hope. They care for our angels and so we are forever grateful.

They are very transparent about pricing and she gave me several different options in different price ranges. She explained everything thoroughly and made sure I understood. When I ultimately had to transfer him to a different hospital for surgery due to pricing, they totally understood and assisted with the transfer. And they even followed up to see how his surgery went.

My dog was diagnosed with Anal sac adenocarcinoma while my mother was on hospice, so we decided to…read moremove forward with surgical removal of the tumor (at VRC's recommendation) because we didn't want to lose two family members at the same time. Prior to surgery, the doctors at VRC indicated that successful surgery would get us 1-3 more years with our pet. During surgery, they were able to remove most but not all of the metastatic growth so it was recommended that we move forward with chemo and radiation which would extend his life by 3-6 months instead of the 1-3 years initially stated. Well, our dog died exactly a week after surgery, 1.5 hours after my mother passed. The exact situation that we were trying to avoid unfolded as our worst nightmare. Unbeknownst to us, VRC operated even though our dog was anemic, and as a result, he spent the last week of his life in pain and internally bleeding. The morning of his passing, he was vomiting up blood clots and there were clots coming out of his nose. He was in shock and urinated all over my husband as he carried him to the car to rush him to our closest Vet ER (not VRC). At the ER, we were told it was too late so we made the impossible but humane decision to hold our dog until his last breath. After arriving home, we couldn't even mourn the two deaths we just experienced because we had to clean up the blood from our carpets, curtains, floors, walls, etc. before our young children got home from school so we didn't traumatize them. We paid VRC over $10k and all they did was kill our pet in the most traumatic way. On top of that, they haven't once reached out to check on our pet (he was supposed to have his sutures removed two weeks after surgery but obviously we didn't get to do that, but no one called to find out why) or express their condolences for our loss. I would and could not ever recommend this vet practice to anyone. So disappointing and heartbreaking.

But, I was surprised to learn they do not have a surgical oncologist on staff. The Penn Dr. recommended Dr. Jennifer Reagan at Blue Pearl Malvern. She had a CT at Blue Pearl to be more informed for surgery. The CT report led us to the decision it would be wise to be as aggressive as we can to fight this. Gwen lost her right eye and a lymph node to this process. Dr. Reagan and the nursing staff kept communication very open from day one to the end. Everyone was good to us from the front desk staff to the Dr. herself. If you are an animal lover, you can tell when other people are true animal lovers. All the staff interacted with Gwen in that way and that provided much peace of mind. Gwen has had two follow ups at local vets since she has healed. Both vets commented on the quality of her stitching especially the eye since it was a long area. Gwen's pain was managed so well by the hospital I think the surgery was harder on us than it was on her. The days after coming home she was in high spirits and only concerned about where her groundhog friends were. I am thoroughly pleased with the level of care received. Recommend.

We are overprotective of our dog and have canceled grooming appointments in the past for very minor health or physical issues. When we picked her up today she was coughing and having breathing problems. So much so, that we rushed her to her regular vet to be examined. Then we also discovered something is wrong with her leg after the grooming. She is now staying at her regular vet for observation all afternoon to make sure she is ok. We called Whitelands Animal Hospital to find out what happened during her visit to cause these issues that did not exist before her visit to them. We spoke to Dr Frost who was immediately very rude and defensive. Instead of addressing the issues, she berated us saying we took forever to pick her up. As they know, we live 15 mins away and immediately left the house to pick her up. There was no delay in picking her up. Perhaps they should call 20 minutes before a dog is finished to make sure there is no wait in pickup or ask owners to stay very close by if they don't want the dogs waiting around. We never had an issue with picking her up in that timeframe previously. Dr Frost also refused to accept that anything may have happened during the grooming to cause the injury to my dog's leg. She said my dog barking caused her breathing issues. Our vet does not agree. It is very concerning that a doctor would be so defensive and completely refuse to investigate what happened any further. This is negligence. We will not be giving Whitelands Animal Hospital any future business and if you care about your animals and their wellbeing I would not feel safe leaving them in their care.
