I still LOVE Vons on Thompson. I have been shopping here for nearly 25 years. I LOVE the employees. They are friendly, welcoming, helpful, and greet me with kindness and familiarity. Shopping at Vons with the app on my phone is an absolute MUST! First of all the more you shop, the more rewards you earn. You can earn $10 + off your groceries. This always makes me smile. Hubby loves the gas rewards at Chevron. I love the weekly free items that I can get using the app. Some of the items I received for free, I have never tried before. We have been buying some of these brands over and over. We love the deli! I like the chicken tenders and the bowtie pesto pasta. Hubby likes the ham sliced to order and the fried chicken. We also love the produce section and the meat department. The meat department will help you find the meat if it isn't out on display. They will also give cooking and seasoning advice. My favorite thing right now is the stuffed boneless chicken for $5 each. This is my go-to purchase when I want to buy something healthy and I lack time for preparation. The produce department is awesome. My neighbor, Eric, works there. He will always help me find items like Sundried tomatoes, jackfruit, etc. He is so kind!!! When the new weekly ad comes out, I always search for what is the item for Throwback Savings. I am grateful for the discounts. I love the management and all of the staff. P.S. I usually don't leave reviews, but I've had multiple uncomfortable experiences at the Starbucks inside Vons. There is one male employee who I believe might be a manager, and he consistently treats me poorly for no clear reason. He avoids eye contact, never says my name or acknowledges my drink order, and the other day he slammed my drink down and tossed the straw with attitude, it was hard to reach over for my drink. He doesn't even know me! He's too comfortable being aggressive towards me and who knows who else. What makes it more uncomfortable is that he's polite to my sister but dismissive toward me. It's gotten to the point that I feel uneasy visiting this location, even though I love Starbucks. I hope management can look into this, because the customer service here has been unwelcoming and really disappointing. read more

Seriously. This place NEVER stocks their ice cream. EVER. Drive to any other Vons in the area they always have ice cream stocked. Either they are extremely lazy here or they flat out don't have anyone hired to do this job. I should have learned my lesson by now but it's just the closest Vons but I always end up having to drive to harbor and try to make it before they close. This Vons seriously sucks. read more

I hardly shop here anymore because it's too expensive but i went today because I was trying to find a specific brand of cat food that was supposed to be there. The brand's website said that Smart & Final both had it. Went to S&F first and they only had that brand in dog food. So, went across the street but it was the same issue. So I grabbed a cheap bag to tide me over until I could find the brand I prefer for my cat. I go to self check out and it rings up at $12.99. I put in club number but it doesn't go down (maybe a dollar). I go to check the sticker and realize someone didn't put the right sticker to the size bag. But there were no 3lb bags. So I let someone know and I expect to at least get the $6.99 price, but she refuses to help. Well, I just learned from a friend who works at Vons, that the policy is to give the customer the item for free AND a $5 gift card because of THEIR error. Mind you, there were 3 other 6lb bags at that price tag. But by the time I found out this policy, I had already left and was too irritated to go back. I ended up going to another market to get the food. But I'm so annoyed and will definitely avoid going there in the future. Sadly, this is my neighborhood Vons and the service from some employees is terrible. Every-time I shop here I have to brace for racism and /or humiliation when asking for a check to be cashed, to purchase money orders, etc. it's a major feat if I leave there successfully. Today was not one of those successful days even while dealing specifically with the manager. She said even if I do everything right sometimes they just can't cash this $21 check. This is also the first time I've ever been asked to input my Social Security # twice along with my real I.d. I feel violated. Very dissatisfied with Bakery department on Thompson.I came in the day before to order cake and the decorator informed me she would not be in the following day and that I could pick a cake the next day and someone would be here to help write on it. I wasn't initially impressed with this Von's after the lady in the bakery ignored me and refused to come to the counter, but after meeting 2 other employees and looking at the overall store I'm giving it a 5 star. This store is easily accessible from the main road and is in the same vicinity as Rite Aid, Goodwill, Anytime Fitness and a few other places. There is great parking access and the parking lot is clean. The inside of the store is well kept, organized and is well stocked. When I visited the produce section, I had the pleasure of meeting MOTA who answered my questions about apples and also informed me about the processing factor. When I was checking out, I had the pleasure of meeting cashier CHERYL who was very kind in helping my sister and I identify which store would carry a pre-made sugar cookies for our Christmas endeavors. Normally I would wait longer before reviewing but this place was solid! I was in a rush and knew exactly what I needed. I asked the produce guy if they had any more fruit bowls, to which he assured me they did and directed me where to find them. After I grabbed 3 bowls, I rushed off to find a line and was expecting to be there a long while but this store blew me away. They had an adequate amount of checkstands open and they were moving at a consistent pace. What I really appreciated was that the fruit was extremely fresh even though it was well into the evening, the workers actually seemed happy to be there instead of being depressed or rude, and they were dressed in festive tee shirts! A guy named Martin helped us. Very knowledgeable and the quintessential customer service. And even in this Thanksgiving Day potential madness, he made our experience a fun one. Okay, lately I've been going to VONS to get the fresh sushi that their sushi chef makes daily and since the first one I brought... I've been coming back pretty regularly for all the different sushi that he's made (Chef Gin/Jin, can't remember which but that's the pronunciation) and he's very passionate when he's making the daily sushi which pretty much sells out by the time the close! I absolutely love this guy for my go-to sushi cravings that I get so bad all the time and the best part of the whole thing is it's reasonaby priced. What I like about this Vons: The best bakery around with the best fresh sourdough bread available all day. They will decorate a cake however you want, and there are a wide variety of bagels and other breads with more choices than Santa Paula or the beach Vons. Wide variety of choices in all departments. Convenient location. Friendly staff. What I don't like: Parking lot is very busy any time of day. The self checkouts usually get an error message. Do not use them if you are buying alcohol. The store is rather dark, mood lighting maybe? I have to read labels and it is more challenging in lower light. The store is one of the busiest in the area so aisles are more crowded and checkout lines are longer. read more

They forgot 10 items which included all of the bread and tortillas but it said they were delivered. Also a lot of items like cheddar cheese and coffee creamer were out of stock which is a bummer and this is definitely not a replacement for going shopping. The person in the store refunded me the delivery fee which was nice but we had to re-plan dinner and I can't make my kids a quesadilla, grilled cheese, hamburger, etc...all the easy stuff to make while I work 8-10 hours a day at home with kids in zoom meeting lol. I hate posting 1 star reviews but I'm hoping that a manager reads this and they add some quality checking in the future since I shouldn't have to spend 10-15 minutes taking inventory trying to figure out how many things were missing. Here's an update, I just noticed that they gave me chicken that was 2 days past the sell date. Nice! I had one interesting experience today when I stopped by this Vons store. My fiancé and I were out running errands and decided to stop by since we were just across the street at Big Lots. We are regulars at the Vons on Harbor but since we were in the area we decided to stop in. From the outside, one would say that this Vons is really nice, great landscape and a good amount of parking spaces. There's a Rite Aid and Wells Fargo within the same shopping center and easily accessible from the main street. So, again one would think this was a nice store from the outside.... But once you get in it's another story... As soon as you walk in, your greeted with a great assortment of fresh cut flowers. Then if you continue on, you find your self in the produce and fruits department. This is where the first red flag was waived. We see this lady who was trying to be slick, unzips a bag of green grapes, and proceeds to take a handful of grapes and just eats them, just eats them-shocked. We then headed to the in house deli area come to find that in the cheese cooler fridge there was an open container that looked like there used to be a mini cake inside but all was left was whipped cream. Next to that empty container was fried chicken that was opened and half eaten...box left for trash in the cheese refrigerator-disgusting. It literally looked like someone ripped the tape area that was the barcode and went to town, then left there trash in the cooler. Thought it ended there?! Nope. We walked into the bread section..and sitting right there on top of the scones and macaroons, you guessed it...a wide open box of macaroons. It almost looked like it was open so that you can sample them, but no someone decided to open it and eat half of the box. Random. I almost feel bad for this store because their customers are literally stealing from them, right underneath their nose. To top it off, the workers here are completely clueless and just don't have the customer service wow factor. The shoppers at this location are pretty interesting too. One plus about this location is they have a meat and seafood counter! We'll stick to our regular Vons location offa Harbor and Seaward. Never will we come back to this location. read more

Do not do a pick up and go order here. They did not process my order after several phone calls when they stated my order would be ready. After a full day of waiting and trying to find someone who would help me. My order never got shopped for after 2 days and I ended up wasting trying to cancel a pickup drive and go order that I never received even though they charged my card for it. I don't understand how they can advertise this service when you end up not receiving the groceries. Instead of keeping people safe, they never communicated that I would not receive my order. This is the best Von's in Ventura! They have an awesome Deli and Bakery. The Deli personnel are SUPERB and cater to the whims of their customers. The Bakery makes these awesome Susan Shortbread cookies with chocolate drops on the top....they're to die for. They have a great wine selection at this Von's as well. If you purchase 6 bottles, you get a bulk discount, so I typically end up going that route. All of the people who work there have always been so helpful and they all exude positive, professional attitudes. This is my designated grocery store. The people that work at this Von's seem to truly care about their customers, that's a big plus in my book! The store is large enough that you don't feel claustrophobic , though I would recommend they remove some of the beer displays in between the dairy and frozen food aisle as it sometimes leads to shopping carts to bottleneck. The aisles are well stocked and they normally have what I'm looking for and if I can't find something all I have to do is ask, and guess what? They'll get the answer for me. Parking is ample. The stores busiest time is at 5:00pm, so don't expect to have a full cart of groceries and just breeze through a line because everyone else was thinking the same thing too. The difference at this store is they have numerous checkers so it's not like some stores where you only have two checkers working. They also have 4 self serve checkouts... Don't try checking out alcohol, cold medications, or gift cards, these are items that need a cashiers approval. The staff are friendly & attentive and even know the regulars on a first name basis. Now, if I may add a tip to the single ladies in the area, this Vons is always stocked with single men doing their grocery shopping, so if your in the market (pardon the pun) slap on some mascara and lip gloss and head on over with your grocery list. read more

Best grocery store in town. But this is mainly because I don't know where anything is in any other store. So I admit, this is my regular grocery store and therefore, it's my comfort shopping place. But, the staff is always busy (in a good way,) and has never been rude or unwilling to answer questions. They have regular check stands and self-check-out registers which is nice when ur trying to get in and out quickly. Just remember, no booze in self-checkout. They are open pretty late- past midnight. This makes it nice if you are like me and prefer less crowds. Went to store at 3pm Tues 5/5/20. Went to the door marked 'entry' and asked the woman worker who was near a bottle of cleaner, where the shopping carts were. She looked at me in surprise and said oh, you have to go over to the other side, the Exit side. So I did and nothing there just signs saying this is for exit only! I went all the way back where I began and frustrated just went in store and used a (probably dirty) hand held cart! Their loss since I was going to buy much more than a few things. I'm giving vons 2 stars because they have been great at delivering and always friendly guys, however, I am extremely worried that they wear no mask or gloves like they previously did. The whole point I switched to delivery was to keep my family safer. The virus can live in the air for 3 hours. In all fairness I had asked them if they could resolve this and they wouldn't so I decided to write a review. Please vons, do your part to stop this deadly disease. It really makes me nervous that you have no masks and gloves and are in direct contact of our food. Friendly great service, however, not following health guidance.
