565 reviews on Yelp and the one business I have the most interaction in town with is Vons, yet I have neglected to give them a review. I'm in this Vons almost daily, I have been a loyal Safeway/ Vons shopper for decades. I don't shop here blindly tossing into my cart whatever I want. This store has some pretty crazy mark ups and THATS HOW THE GETCHA! I shop the deals. The other crazy negative is the Must By 4 or Must Buy 3 Or the Must Buy2 These do not mix and match with each other and can be quite confusing when trying to fill the obligation to get the deal. Soda pop is so much worse with the must by * and get * free these changes weekly and who can drink that much soda plus the price is marked up to account for the free product, it's rarely a deal. I just skip the soda isle. Lets go around the store starting at the Deli and Bakery, The Deli is ok but I often get chicken thighs instead of the promised and paid for breasts. The clerks play dumb, watch them closely. The Bakery has produced many EXCELLENT birthday cakes over the years only Costco can compete and This Vons is better so keep special occasion cakes in mind. Next is cheese and eggs and if you get the deals, you are doing ok, I don't drink milk so Meat is next. don't expect to find the sale items here as they often sell out immediately and usually not restocked until the sale ends. don't expect that Famous Safeway smile here either, these guys are grouchy, really grouchy. Produce takes you around the corner and it's just fine, they have what you must buy. Smack dab down the middle is the liquor row. sometimes there are big bargains to be had so it's always worth the stroll. An assistant manager named David no longer works there, he was amazing, I fear he was replaced by ***** who runs the place like its her own corner bodega and you're a group of 14-year-old kids with back packs and skateboards, she can hold her ground, though she is often wrong. Forget about the "price guarantee" I think they would rather take the sign down, grill it with some bbq sauce, and eat it before offering up said guarantee. Tracy is cool but always seems over worked and Tom the Store Director just makes it look easy with quick hellos and genuine handshakes. This store needs leadership. There's no pride in the perimeter departments. The bakery still stands out, but the meat, produce, and milk box area shows no pride. I moved out here last July. I like Vons so I have shopped at Sun city location several times. I experienced some poor customer service there but also good service on some occasions. Today was a doozy!! First I saw sign that displayed 'S Farm Chicken close to Foster Farms, so I figured they were out of the thighs since there were only drumsticks. I ask guys behind counter if they had anymore thighs (Foster Farms) he walked out with me and responded that price is on 'SignatureFarms Chicken?' Now, I am a senior citizen as I live in 55 and over community, I still have smarts, so I ask where does it display 'Farms on signature packaging'? I gather he thought I was being difficult, which I was being kind just questioning because nowhere on packaging was 'Farms' present! He responded I'm not debating with you it's Signature chicken (Vons brand) that's it! 1. Good customer service is being professional and kind, not rude and Condescending! He missed this in his training! 2. Fix the problem change sign to avoid confusion even if you need to use black marker! ( he just walked away like he was pissed off, for lack of better wording! On this same visit I then purchased Raos Roasted Garlic pasta Sauce' Good deal for $5 each!! Well, I asked cashier to make sure I got price of $5 (Friday deals) she checked and said yes. I get to my car and double check and I was charged $21 and change ( not $5) I go to counter supervisor I explained to her my situation presented picture of price from shelf. She goes reviews shelf returns with well the ones you got were bigger than the ones for $5 I have her take me to isle/shelf and she shows me price where I got my jars, which said $5 her response someone put larger ounces there!! Ok where I got my two jars there were still the larger jars there!! So looks like trickery to me!! Sadly many elderly people don't always pay attention (I do) This is NOT the first time this has happened!! Shame on Vons using these techniques of misleading customer's!! I think the supervisor was overwhelmed as there were other customers there for price adjustments! She tried being pleasant but I sensed her frustration! Sadly, this ruined my visit and I will no longer shop at that Vons! Thanks for a pretty bad experience. Maybe some pep talk meetings are necessary, some of your employees need refinement and your marketing strategies are not the best! read more

I came in this afternoon looking for a bouquet of roses for my mother for her birthday and Carol was so kind and very attentive to my needs I could not let this opportunity go by. Carol went over and above for me today which in turn made my mother's birthday so much more special! Carol is a blessing and I will recommend her for all of our needs in the future! This location used to be pretty good, but over a recent staff change and the addition of Jennifer, who is a rude and disrespectful pharmacy assistant, who likes to argue and devalue her customers, and then tell you that you can go somewhere else if you don't like it. I called the store's manager to report the conduct, she was disinterested. I then contacted the regional corporate offices and reported the incident, and they too were disinterested. It simply became clear that it was time to take my prescriptions elsewhere, as customer service continued to be less and less, and businesses outright demonstrate and even go as far as to tell you that they don't need or want your business. CALL INSTACART! CALL INSTACART!" three times fast while I try to figure out if Von's clerks bag pickup orders - since they sure do bring them out to the car. Please be mindful that as an Instacart customer, I am still shopping at Vons and adding to your paycheck 'Ms. Rude.' When working in customer service, your attitude should always be good. Although it's a small store, the selection is pretty good. The produce dept. always looks good and fresh. Michael in the meat dept. is very helpful if you're looking for deals or specialty cuts. The deli dept. usually doesn't have enough people, therefore prepare to wait. I have to say it is a clean store and the cashiers are pleasant. read more

I need a good explanation from this Vons. Your store is close at 10pm. We arrived at 9pm for some oysters and tell me why your seafood dude clocked out at 9pm and noone else can get the oysters except him???? We didnt even ask your people to shuck the oysters. We just need someone to grab some and we will pay and do it ourselves at home. If your seafood dude is off at 9pm, and u dont sell any seafood products after 9pm, shouldnt u state that on your front door??? Racist and rude older women working at checkout and customer service desk. Couldn't be bothered to greet us and had a fit when they needed their supervisors assistance and suspended our order and tossed items to another register without saying a single word. You get paid and work in customer service, this is the second time with both problematic ladies. So not just a long and hard day. They have no problem snickering and laughing amongst themselves as I waited for another person to help. Anyways i have 10 yrs experience is customer service including a grocery chain, slap a smile on your face and greeting your customer is very basic... same with communication with the consumer and not saying bigoted things out loud after ignoring customer and then pointing and laughing! If I could gift negative stars I would Irean was the checker she was so rude to me and made me feel So uncomfortable as if I was bothering her by coming to her line and then I brought up to her attention that I had think I had already paid for the cream from the pharmacy she demanded I was lying I showed her my bump in my finder and mentioned how I had talked to the pharmacist about it it she stated you probably didn't pay I would. Prices are mostly higher than other markets in the area, but that was okay until today when I was "Ordered Around" by a checker. She ordered me to leave my drinks in my cart, she didn't say please or explain the reason why she ordered me around until I complained. Her explanation for her rude conduct was, as she told me, "My back hurts." I told her that she should not bring her problems to work and I further told her my whole body hurts, but I still work and take care of my wife as a caregiver. i ordered groceries for delivery and it was a MESS. I was missing one item which they charged me for, i was missing a case of water which they charged me for, one bag of tortillas they gave was not properly sealed, and one of the apples they gave me was super wrinkly and weird? Then they gave me like doubles of a couple items for some reason too. And also i submitted the missing item refund request before i noticed that they only gave me two water packs instead of three so now i have to call to get that refunded as well. I only hear excuses as to why it can't be made. Everything is always in the back, and no one gives me a time frame of when the problem could be fixed. I want to give a huge thank you to the floral department today! It's my moms birthday and I live 6 1/2 hours away so I called them to do a floral arrangement and balloons for my mom and explained my brother would pick them up and pay. Tabitha took so much time in taking my order I felt confident it would be right. Not only did they do an amazing job on the flowers and balloons but they sang Happy Birthday to my mom when she picked them up AND at the register!!!! MORE LIKE A CRIME SCENE THAN A GROCERY STORE! This store was at its lowest point last night (for me, at least) in the 17 years I have been a customer there! The merger with Alberstons (which everyone promised would improve this location) actually has made it worse. Don't get me wrong, great selection of food and the bakery goods are excellent, but the overall store is dangerous and gross! Craters bigger than the ones on the Moon are located throughout the store, creating a hazard for all people, especially senior citizens. I am posting pictures for all to see. Complaints of this in my survey submissions have fallen on deaf ears, which means management does not give a sh*t about the customer. The bathroom I used looked like it had not been cleaned in 24 hours. I am also posting pictures of that mess, including a very live cockroach. I almost just bailed out of the store leaving my cart with food in it, but decided to tough it out, but kept a keen eye everywhere for critters. Produce area loaded with craters and check out the pictures of the floor I submitted where it looks like someone bled after being shot or stabbed. Not an employee in sight; checkers could care less about my general complaints. A few weeks ago I wanted to get some fish for my mother at around 8PM but needed larger pieces cut into smaller servings and repackged so I could freeze for her. "Sorry, they shut down hours ago. No one can help you," is what an employee told me. This store could do everyone a service in Menifee (Sun City) by simply closing its doors. I am a loyal Vins shopper. I have been to This one a few times and the worst trip visit ever! The only employee that wasn't rude was the check out girl. They had no sour dough out on the sheLves but a ton in the green cart ready to be unloaded. I had to ask 3 people for help as everyone was passing the buck. It was awful and they were rude. Finally one girl told me the guy that works in that department was off. I was shocked. I asked her to hold One side up so I could hold the other Side and get my bread. Unbelievable. read more

The lady at the deli put the wrong price 10.99 but we said Monday's special is 7.99 so my partner took the wrong price off and the lady put 7.99 when we went to pay the cashier notice it and She said "WE CAN NOT CHARGE YOU THIS" she was extremely RUDE and made us feel like if we were stealing the chicken. Tabitha went above and beyond with her customer service. Stopped by the flower shop in hopes to have a ton of balloons filled due to my air pump not arriving in time for my kiddos bday. Tabitha is a gem! My initial interaction with Tabitha was over the phone and I could hear her smile over the phone. I also purchased two deli trays and both ladies that assisted with my order on Friday were outstanding! I don't think I've been to a grocery store that has literally left me with the impression this one did. Even the cashier was fabulous. I don't know who runs this store but I sure hope Employee Recognition day was made very special for your staff. read more

HORRIBLY mismanaged grocery store. I'd put money that they don't schedule more than 4 employees at this store for any given shift (more often than not). 1 for checking, 1 for deli/bakery, 1 for meat, 1 for the rest of the floor & the back. And one of those is also the shift leader/manager. Came in here last night around 6:00 PM. Regular amount of people in line at the single check stand that was open (3-4). Spent 60-90 seconds picking out the few, basic items I wanted, and by the time I got in line, I was probably 10th in line. The checker called for backup, and the only backup was at the service desk doing something like a money order or something. Took about 3-4 minutes to get a second check stand open, and by that time, even after the lines split, there were still about 10 people in each line. ***NOTE*** The checker was not the problem; she was doing the best she could, but when there's only 3-4 other people in the store at 6:00 PM on a Saturday night, that's a problem. And, this is generally the problem I've seen at this location. If this was the first occurrence, I could write it off as a one-off. But, every time I come here, there's like 1 regular, decent person working here, and the rest of everyone just seems to be a bunch of weirdies and/or druggies. Really, they need to clean house here, raise their hiring standards, pay their people a little more, and schedule 1-2 more employees (minimum) per shift. They're lucky they're the only ones that carry Tillamook ice cream nearby, otherwise I'd have ZERO reason to ever come back. read more

I love this location for 2 reasons, the first is there wide range of alcohol, the second is the small town feel of the local breakfast bar. They have a big selection of beer, wine, and hard liquor! For the most part all of it is refrigerated and ready to drink as soon as you get home! They also always have a breakfast item on the breakfast bar and for the most part are delicious! read more

So Its time I share how incredibly amazing my Sun City Vons is! You know those days where your So busy but have to take a quick minute to run and get groceries, and don't want to go to any other grocery store because you just added all your "JUST FOR YOU" or its "$5.00 FRIDAYS".....well that's me weekly, and because the of the personal attention and genuine kindness I've given every time I walk through those doors. "ANNALYSSA", who was a cashier but ended up packing my groceries up, Had noticed that I was frantic looking for my SINGLE CAR KEY that i had dropped somewhere in the store and was now going to be late picking up my kids from school, She Immediately stopped what she was doing ,Took her break and spent it searching the store trying to help me! WE FOUND IT:) And then "JUAN" , who not only takes care of the front end of the Store, and makes sure every customer leaves with what was on their list, well I had gone through his line and realized I didn't have enough to cover my groceries and before I could begin deciding what to put back, he covered me, and just smiled! "KELLY" who does all the pricing , is so busy in the mornings and still takes the time to say Hello and guides me to the best deals and makes really good suggestions so i can get through my list fast! I don't live nearby but usually stop by for the bagels. Today on the other hand hand changed my mind about this store. Dropped in in the morning while it was slow to grab just a couple things 1. The Kiefer cheese was 4 days past expiration when I let the person know in bakery (the only person I saw) they just shrugged and didn't care as it wasn't their department. Bottom line the cashiers were rude to my wife and I simply won't be back.
