This store is horrible. I used to drive from Lakeside just to shop here. Now I live right by it and as of last night I will no longer shop here. The employees are SLOW and above all rude. Always a TON of people in line. They are always out of stuff! Don't get me started on the produce. Nasty and never seems fresh. I have had to return moldy produce 2x in the last few weeks. I legit find myself with rage after leaving this store. It's so worth it for me to drive out of my way and shop elsewhere now. This is huge and clean store with a nice florist, produce and bakery depts. If you want to stop in and get out real quick then this is NOT the place. The layout of this store is makes no sense and is very confusing!. Yogurt is in two different sections. The packaged cold cuts are on the opposite side of the store than the cheese. Bacon is with the butcher meats instead of the cold cuts. The expensive organic vegetables are mixed in with the others so it might be confusing for seniors. I remembered thinking to myself that I would never go back and this last visit confirmed it. A lady overheard me complaining and pointed me in the right direction. I would not have known that she was an employee since she was not in uniform and standing around with her cell phone. ????? There were also shopping carts full of cardboard blocking the lanes and employees pushing around large dollies. Why don't they stock late at night? Forget this place! read more

I ordered my wedding cake and cupcakes from the Manager at the Von's Bakery on Mission Gorge. The Manager was amazing! She helped me order and gave me suggestions! It was ready in less than a week and the total cost was $68 for a two tiered wedding cake and 100 cupcakes! Plus it looked amazing!! read more

My experience at this store has always been fairly normal for a grocery store. They have awesome cakes and their icing is fantastic. Any way, I have a serious allergy that has recently developed. Upon going into this location I noticed that in the floral section they had a large amount of latex balloons on display. I advised the manager on duty that if I had walked into the store through the entrance near floral I would have had a severe allergic reaction to those balloons that could have caused anaphylactic shock and possible death. Had this happened my two young children would have been witness to a horrible experience. I did not get her name but this manager was a super problem solver. She advised me that they do sell latex balloons there but she would make sure that those balloons where not filled in advance and used as display. These balloons would only be filled when a customer was there to pick them up. Out of the 3 grocery stores I regularly shop at this Vons location was the only store to actually acknowledge the seriousness of this problem and offer some type of correction. Thank you Vons. Also if I knew this young woman's name I would mention it. Because if I had a serious reaction in this store Vons would have gotten a huge law suit against them. Don't go here in a busy holiday or Saturday/Sunday. Lives are out the door and there is no urgency on the staffs part to make things easier or improved. They are unaware the lines are long and when they do page for help no one comes. At least 20+ people in line today. Sadly, our Vons has become the example of inefficiency. The no longer offer baskets, so everyone has a cart, which does nothing for navigating the overcrowded store. They have displays in every isle, again making for cramped spaces. And the NEVER have enough lanes open. Vons is the last real grocery store in Santee and they have done nothing to manage the situation. Customer service is a thing of the past. I hate going there, but have little in the way of options. Very busy and almost crowded on Sunday afternoon, but did not get difficulty to find parking. Store is not to large compared to Vons at La Mesa Blvd or El Cajon Blvd. Thanks to 3 days sale, I was able to get eggs for good price. This located among stores and restaurants. read more

Always enjoy shopping at this vons ! This is currently the only "real" grocery store in santee, so lines can get very long ! I've dealt with workers in deli and bakery and all are so sweet. Cashiers always are nice too. I think their prices are reasonable especially if you sign up for the just for you sales. The workers in the produce department can work on their professionalism. About 80% of my visits there, they talk about personal things and they are shouting at each other because they aren't standing next to each other . Besides that , it's a great place to do your grocery shopping and grab a redbox on your way out! read more

I moved to Santee in October and have shopped at this store probably 10 times since then. No more. I'm tired of items being priced wrong and sale items being out of stock. I'm tired of things being rung up wrong, then receiving an attitude when I say something. I'm just over the horrible customer service. It's not the cheapest you'll find, but the store is clean and I think they do a pretty good job. Sometimes you can find deals but you have to carry your club card with ya. Also, I requested they carry a product on their freezer section, and they eventually stocked it just for me. Besides, this town has limited options when it comes to buying groceries, who wants to go to 3 stores to get what you need. read more

Horrible service in the Deli today. There were five people "working " in the Deli area, with one older gentleman working at the counter alone. Two or three others were engaged in their own conversations about what they wanted for lunch. One woman started pulling the lunch order for another woman behind the Deli counter. Another gentleman and I stood there waiting for help when one woman kind of mumbled something in our general direction. I'm not sure what she was saying-it may have been about someone would be helping us. It would behoove the Deli manager to send a secret shopper in. Need to find a new Deli. read more

Love this grocery store, it's close to home, they always have the groceries I like to buy, they have a Starbucks inside the store and a florist which is helpful for when you mess up and have to get appeasement flowers, because the couch isn't that comfortable. Today, 1/29/2016 we stopped by the vons on mission gorge road in Santee to pick up filet mignon to cook for dinner. After preparing it we sat down to eat and the butchering on the meat was horrible. There was so much gristle, veins and fat on the cut that we could barely get through it. I have take pictures of the remnants and would be happy to supply them. At 19.00 a pound, I would expect some butchering that complimented the cut. I have gone to that store often and enjoy the service there, but I am frustrated with the lack of quality with regards to the butchering. Please let me know if in the future I should avoid buying my meat from this store, it seems like a waste of money and energy to prepare the meal and then only be able to eat about half of the fillet. At every grocery store in the area I have been treated so rudely except your store! As a patient who has had over 5 surgeries in shirt span of time ten years ago along with shingles I found myself taking pain medicine in abundance. I reached out to a doctor who put me on a subutex plan and has me on a set daily dose. I don't abuse and make every single monthly appointment. I had a new surgery coming up and communicated with All the doctors my circumstances. I was open and honest. I slowed down my subutex and started on pain pills 5 days before surgery and after. My surgeon wrote me a script for 5 days more because of of infection in my leg along with antibiotics. I kept my original subutex appm.t and filled script like I do monthly. You CAN NOT take both medications or you get extremely I'll hence I had slowly weined. When I went to fill my newest script at Santee Vons pharmacy for both antibiotic and pain meds the gal up front was very professional and kind. Explained she was alone and it could be fee hours. I called 5 hours later and spoke to Dave who informed me they won't fill my scripts because they don't react well together. I already knew what he meant and spoke at length to him explaining all circumstance. I really needed the antibiotic. He said it was ready. I went to pick up and was told it wasn't done yet the pharmacist had an issue with my scripts. Again I explained entire situation only to watch him "Aaron " on the phone call every doctor I've got in the system and speak to a receptionist who he claims I broke a contract! I don't even care about getting more pain meds I am furious that I'm being treated like a junkie. This pharmasict I watched in person talk about me to the tech "dave" and call all my medical providers and insinuate I was drug seeking. I had even told Annie ( first gal) I really just needed antibiotics. He made me out to be a drug seeking scum bag while I have a cast on my leg a cain and in a scooter from the store. Still I was polite and readily gave all my info like I did to ALL my doctors. He was so rude. When finally he filled my antibiotics he wouldn't even do a consultation because at 439 pm it was his lunch all the sudden. No one should be humiliated and treated this way. I have worked hard to be extremely careful with pain meds for now over 11 years which is why I clearly communicated. Being judged and treated this way because I had on loose clothing for the cast/brace and no makeup is discriminatory to me . I never argued or tried to beg for 30 friggen pills. I wanted my antibiotics to clear the infection in my leg. I'm so disgusted and embarrassed by this episode. Now I have to explain to all my doctors that NO I was not being shady or drug seeking I have already been extremely clear with all involved. I will file a complaint. Not because I want drugs . I WANT TO BE TREATED HUMAN . THIS GUY WAS A COMPLETE ASS. won't give my business to them ever again. read more

I come in here for odds and ends items that I forgot when I was at the comissary. I love this place because they have a Starbucks in here, which is really nice. The staff is always really helpful. The Starbucks baristas are the BEST! They are nice, get your order correct, and are always friendly. The prices for the groceries are pretty steep, but then again everything is compared to the comissary. But the vons club and coupons make it so you can save a great deal of money. read more

I will never set foot in this store again. I stopped in for a handful of things and got in the express line behind about seven people. Molasses Mark (real name withheld) was without a doubt one of the slowest cashiers I have ever experienced. Sometimes I think its my impatience but in this instance I was only one of several eye rollers. after way too long, I moved over to the self checkout to find the assistance needed screen. After an assurance that she would be right there.After a bit my patience ran out and I walked out the door for the last time without my groceries and went to Smart & Final where it seems they care about the customer experience. read more

Sadface that there's ALWAYS a super extra long wait at checkout when I come here. My "eh" rating of this Von's does not reflect the the staff, selection, quality, parking, or location at all. All of that is good. Three stars is purely on how there is usually only one or two checkstands open, with self-checkout closed, when I go. I try to do quick pick-ups here, but it ends up taking longer than it should. I would just like to see more registers open. At least 1! read more

Normally I wouldn't leave a review for a Vons/Safeway but me and my 2 friends both agree that the service was phenomenal. Jacob at the deli was very polite and we feel like he did the best job that he could have and put his all into just making our sandwiches. That really shows the character of this employee. To top it off when we got up to the register, even our cashier made conversation and even complimented us! The customer service at this location is terrible. It's been getting bad for the past 15 years (I've got stories about this store from that long ago, but today I'll tell just two) I just about never shop at Vons anymore due to their high prices and lack of customer service. But they have some things that my mother likes so I go here to get them for her. Sometimes I take her in her wheelchair so she can get out of the house. But this store keeps putting up displays in the middle of aisles, especially in the bakery area, that makes it nearly impossible to get a wheelchair through. I was here with my mother in February. Only one more item to find. Butter. Not exactly an exotic hard to find item. Except in this store. The sign on aisle 5 says butter. I go down aisle 5 and can't find it. I go down the aisle two more times. I try the next ailse over, aisle 6 in case I read the sign wrong. Ask an employee? Good luck finding one. I did ask some other shoppers and they didn't know. Then a shopper overheard me and said the move the butter to a back corner of the store last month. They just hadn't changed the sign. I'm back again in March. Sign still not changed. Today, April 30 I go to Von's. The store is busy and not enough lanes open. Two express lanes were open and they had long lines. But I had 19 items not 15. I go to self checkout. Big mistake. Self checkout allows the store to have one employee monitor 4 checkouts while you do the work but not getting paid to a checker. I touch the screen that says I brought my own bag. Then it says 'please wait for verification.' You have to be verified that you aren't stealing a 10 cent bag! (that costs the store a penny). The checkout monitoring employee wasn't there. One employee for four checkout registers but I still need to wait a couple of minutes. Then I start scanning my groceries. By the time I scanned item #3 I had to wait again for verification. Apparently it didn't read the bar code when I thought it had. The employee logged into the register, grabbed the last item that I attempted to scan and then I was able to scan a couple more items. Then the machine again says 'wait for verification.' I screamed 'NOW WHAT?' The Vons employee told me that I must have moved my grocery bag. The machine is very sensitive to any movement. I said this piece of junk machine must be sensitive that I breathed on it because I didn't to my bag! She said 'oh no, you must have moved your bag when you put your last scanned item into. This is a top of the line machine.' She resets the checkout scanner for the third time since I started my checkout. Then as she is waking away she takes about 3 steps and the scanner once again says 'please wait for verification ' a FOURTH TIME. The Vons employee took about 3 steps and I didn't even have time to reach into my cart to pick up the next item you scan. She resets the scanner for the fourth time. This time just 10 seconds after the last time she reset it. I continue on scanning my groceries. I finally scanned the last item without needing to call for help again. I touch 'Finish and Pay and I get 'Please Wait for Verification' for the FIFTH TIME!!! The Vons employee comes over and dumps out my packed grocery bag, counts the items and then I'm allowed to pay and get the heck out of there! I've never had this problem at Walmart, Target or Home Depot self checkout. But, I'm now done with self checkout and I'm done with Vons. I'll find the items in Albertsons. read more

prices are alright if you get a good sale but their fruit was horrible and moldy and my friend got some milk that wasnt supposed to spoil for a few more weeks and got home and it was chunky and spoiled. Just gross. I will never ever shop here again. read more

Produce department Miss leads with their pricing purposely putting the wrong price on their items to make you pay more and when you bring it to their attention they make you feel like you are an idiot but the display of their pricing clearly is in the wrong spot for the wrong item deceptive advertising make sure you read the fine print on all their pricing read more

Horrible horrible place!!! I am angry at Haggen for forcing Santee residents to go there. It is inconvenient; there is no parking; the staff is un-trained and most things are very expensive unless you buy 300 of an item. The worst is the pharmacy. There is a pharmacist there who is rude, unprofessional, violates HIPAA and is basically a jerk! I am transferring all my prescriptions, $1000's of dollars because of that jerk. This store is close to me so I shop here pretty often. People here are nice, service is usually good. Not a huge fan of selection or pricing . My lady went here to purchase fish tonight and we found a worm in it. This is absolutely disgusting. Shame on this business for selling contaminated food product!!!
