This Vons is so dirty and disgusting. No one has ever cleaned the perimeter or parking lot in the 15 years I've lived in LA. Garbage everywhere. Stains, dumped food, dog shit.... It's disgusting. The inside is only a little better, but the outside speaks novels about how much any people running this store care about it, the neighborhood, or the customers. Disorganized, unclean, unfriendly. Literally I watched a shoplifter get chased out of the store by the person at checkout while the "security" derped around the aisles. Get your shit together. This Vons is very organized, stocked and clean. I was very impressed with the inside considering the outside. Every time I've gone here, there's always transients or people strung out on drugs. One time I walked here and there were 3 people in a row, bent over. I walked out and they were in the same position. I do like that they have security at the door. Today, the security controlled the door by opening to customers vs people that were there to cause trouble. It made me feel safe. It sucks because this place could probably have higher ratings if it wasn't for the dirty outside and squatting. Otherwise, inside is great! read more

Over the years I've seen all sorts of craziness at this store. I've seen people nodding out in the aisles or fighting and smoking crack in the parking lot. I once saw a woman squat down and spray diarrhea all over the wall for all to see in the middle of a sunny afternoon. Today I was on my way out and witnessed a woman get mugged for a case of beer in the parking lot at like 5pm. Security was nowhere to be seen of course. I'm buying my wife a gun! read more

Vons in Hollywood EaHo/East Hollywood to be more precise is one filled with lots of essential things as the huge hub off Sunset Blvd for grocery locals and passers through. Located a beat away from Children's Hospital and a light or so east of Vermont/Sunset Station off Sunset Blvd/Virgil Avenue near where Hollywood Blvd merges into Sunset B. Expect the usually cool bakery, frozen goods, cold beverages, canned must, fresh fruit, nice veggies and essentials for your fridge, pantry and household. I've been a few times this summer either for a quick snack and refresh to stay hydrated, picking up grillables for events, bbqs and parties or even groceries for on my way back home. Some isles and areas get shopped super hard and it's a little hard to upkeep on busy weekends or holidays, but they try. The Vons crew is always personable and truly provide great service, but it can be a lot so I always take someone's poor judgement of making a mess with a grain of salt, especially if nobody let's them know about it. Why someone would leave a pack of open tortillas on top of the Kinder's spices display, close to an end cap with only one or two missing is beyond me. The parking lot is fairly easy with entrances/exit off Sunset, Virgil and even Lyman Place. After I believe 7 or 8pm the far east side entrance is usually close, sometimes even earlier than this. All the carts on this side are typically looked as well to cut down on theft. One thing I do appreciate this summer is their markdown on a lot of plant-based options. I placed an online app order for $5 Friday at around 1 pm knowing that I'll be doing some other shopping in a few hours. It's very strange that all three of the Albertsons owned grocery stores don't have the same sales as Pavilions ($5 fried chicken) but Vons & Albertsons did not. So, I bought two bags of frozen jumbo shrimp, a value pack of choice grade top sirloin steak, 3 large haas avocados, a bottle of kefir, a large veggie platter (got substituted, no organic), frozen diced onions, and an organic bunch of cilantro. This order was processed in 90 minutes when I received text notification. I made sure to do a soft check in on the app prior to getting in the car. I'm not even sure if this signals the store that I'm on the way there. Please be aware to expect a busy parking lot. I believe the hospital employees also use the lot. Parking is terrible, I doubt that any of those cars in the other 5 pick up spots were here for pick up. I did an official check in and entered the parking space number. I cracked the windows a little so I can hear for the delivery. It didn't take but a few minutes when I saw the nice man in the rearview mirror. I got out, grabbed the phone and gave him the texted code I received. Sure enough, all the items were in the cart without any bags as I requested per the order instructions. I helped open up two bags and he filled them with the items. I was really happy with the fast processing and delivery service. I recommend that you do not do big orders as it'll take more time and effort to deliver. Or if you do a large order, splurge on the bags to have them ready to place the filled bags directly in your truck. read more

Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90027, I purchased $85+ groceries on Aug. 5, 2025, including 2 Langers juices that had a very strong chemical smell, so I poured them out. I call corporate and they tell me to call the store. The store tells me to come in to resolve it, AFTER I explain that I've poured them out. My purchase(s) can be seen in my online Vons account. Quite honestly, this is the worst Vons I've ever been to. I've never had an experience at a grocery store bad enough to make me write a review--until today. I do DoorDash on the side, and I had a fairly large order to shop and deliver. Many of the items were locked up due to the area, which I understand, but I had to wait over 15 minutes after pressing the assist button before anyone came to help. At checkout, things only got worse. I was told the only way to get batteries was through the cashier, but instead of assisting me, he tried passing the responsibility off to multiple employees because his "ankle hurt." After everyone else told him no, he threw a fit. Meanwhile, my customer added more items to their order, and when I had someone help grab those, the cashier loudly complained to his coworker that I "wasn't ready." Because of the lack of urgency and poor attitude from the staff, I ended up having to refund my customer for missing items. I tried giving this place another chance after years of not going there because of my previous experience. Mistake. All it did was remind me how absolutely awful it is. This time the guy at the sandwich counter BLATANTLY served a person who arrived after me first, claiming that I was not in the actual line when SHE WASN'T EITHER. Excellent selection of sales taking place on Sunday Funday, 07/07/2024 when I visited this Vons supermarket in Los Angeles, CA off of Hollywood Blvd and Sunset. They had A lot of sales taking off such as Chips Galore, Drinks and more....I was in dire need of some late night coffee, and I stumbled upon my favorite brand, Peets' iced bottled drinks from Vons, LA, CA's fridge section. We are a Disabled American Veteran household and rely on home delivery from Vons. In the past it's been hit or miss but mostly they get it right. Today i placed an order and messed up and forgot some items. I called the store directly and got a hold of my shopper, ERIC, who went above and beyond to make sure my order was correct greatly helping me out. When judging grocery stores I really focus on two things: 1) do they have what I came for and 2) how fast I can get out of there. The "Hollywood Vons" is, generally, well-stocked. Though I'm not sure it's quite made a paper towel/toilet paper recovery since the pandemic. But I almost always am able to find what I need. The biggest issue of getting out in a timely fashion is...you guessed it: timing. If you go at around 10pm before they shut off the self-checkout, you're gold. However, once they turn them off, you will inevitably find yourself in one of exactly two lines, each of which has eight people in front of you. Timing is everything. As far as food and ambiance: the produce is kept "misted" and the ambiance is...the ambiance of a mid-level grocery store? It's harsh lighting and aisles of groceries. It's not a place for a selfie. I admittedly feel bad for the employees here because this place is chronically understaffed. #sad. read more

I added a star! A staff member said hello yesterday, and slowed her pace to share a smile! Wow. That friendly exchange really made a difference. This is the most convenient store for me, with ample parking and easy access. Yet, it can be a challenge once inside. Sale items are often gone, with only an empty shelf or a different item filling its space. (not on sale). Meat here is nothing special and a large cut is next to impossible to get. Yet, the store is improving. The produce department is always clean and stocked, The store is usually pretty clean; although, when stocking items, they seem to forget that there are others around and can trash the isle. Good wine selection, and a flower area, instead of a deli. (Probably due to the hospitals nearby? Some of the grumpy checkers seem to be gone too! One in particular, I won't miss. The addition of some self checkout spots is nice. I hope they keep going in this direction. I use the Von's app and find some good coupons. A TIP. This review is specifically for their Gift Cards. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT purchase any gift cards here as they are a bunch of SCAMMERS! I purchased a Macy's gift card for my mom on 12/24/22 with a value of $150. On 01/22/23, my mom realized that the gift card was not even active when she tried to use it. I went to the Vons with the receipt and activation receipt to inquire about this and I spoke to the manager Ana Huerta who did not even care! All she said to me was that gift cards are final sale and to call a number she provided. Like ma'am what? The gift card does not even have any value loaded on it. How can it be a final sale? So much for being a manager who doesn't even care about a customer losing $150. I called the number she provided and they take down my info and after giving them all the info, they tell me since it was Sunday I have to call back during the week. Like okay, thanks for wasting my time taking down my info for nothing. I call back again today, 01/23, and again they take down my info and tell me they are going to open a ticket to investigate my case. Like are you kidding me? Give me my money back! Shopping while black strikes again. I actually hate this Vons and try not to go, it's dirty, chaotic and the parking lot feels so unsafe, but my mom is in town so we stopped in. We both went different ways to grab what we needed. As I was in the chips aisle, a small hispanic female security guard with a shaved head walked by the aisle and made a u-turn right into the aisle and "looked" at chips too. Now... I could be paranoid but 1. she didn't grab any chips 2. I saw her walking around and surveying other aisles a minute later and glancing at me as I shopped. Not paranoid, she was defn following me, I was just too tired to call her out like I'd normally do in a situation like this. It doesn't surprise me, being profiled while shopping while black is often a thing but I figured you know being in my 50s, the days of being singled out and followed around were over. Nope. Anyways. Do better Vons. I know you get a lot of homeless people in your store but damn, following people around because they're black is not a good look. F you and F that lil security guard. So after waiting several minutes in line patiently I get to the counter(one cashier) and tell Cody I need something out of the liquor cabinet and he tells me he doesn't have the key but wait at check stand 5 but that line is closed and no one is there and I ask him well can you at least page someone and he then tell me oh no they will be back just wait and so I wait while customers after me are being serviced and I then approach his register again and tell Cody I am trying to not be rude, however , I deserve to be serviced as I waited in line too and can you please just page someone so he does and I wait and while I'm waiting I move to the side to check out the clearance items and I see who I was told is the supervisor Enrique and he is verbally and physically upset and doesn't speak I said my apologies I had to disturb you and from there my words were everything he made me feel in that moment but what I am learning from shopping at not only this Vons but the one on Vermont and 3rd is that they treat Blacks with no respect with the exception of the deli man that works at this one and the sushi chefs at both locations are always kind and security at the Vermont and 3rd are great but the rest no and only one black cashier I've ever seen from both locations so overall after tonight with supervisor Enrique making me feel like I didn't deserve service and with his angry face and physical appearance and the huffs it gave me the vibe that I was bothering him from doing something worthy of his attention and I need to just find another store that appreciates not only great customers but incorporates diversity as well because these two locations most certainly do not! read more

I spent $7.00 on a New York steak at this Vons today. When i opened the package, the meat smelled RANCID - it smelled like vomit! This steak could have killed someone from food poisoning (what if I'd had a cold, and couldn't smell it)? I called the store to speak with a manager, but the phone system automatically disconnected my numerous calls. I was never able to get through. This was my first time at this particular Vons store. If you visit the bakery at this Vons, I recommend avoiding a tall, white, glasses-wearing woman named Beverly. She was extremely rude during my experience. When she called me about my cake order, she refused to make a simple revision, bluntly stating, "I'm not going to do all that." Just out of convenience, I've been going to this Vons location for over a decade and have seen it go from WORSE TO WORSE. It is unbelievable how miserable, unfriendly, and rude almost everyone who works here is! It doesn't matter if it's the guy you've waited for for 15 minutes to unlock one of the cabinets in one of two aisles of locked up health care products or one of the awful cashiers (the male ones usually), don't expect any sort of acknowledgment as a human. It's like you're doing them a disservice for even being there. And don't try calling management to let them know, you'll wait on hold for half an hour and then be told they'll call you the next day and never hear from them again. There are two employees in particular who take the cake. One is a loudmouth argumentative "know it all" guy often working self-checkout and sometimes cashier. The other is a male cashier, always seated with a mask, who will only acknowledge you to ask for ID and ask if you need a bag. They've been there for years, and I know they get tons of complaints but for some reason this store still keeps them!! What!?!! Not to mention whomever does the ordering has no clue what they're doing. Obvious high volume items are constantly out of stock, years after Covid was a reason. I grew up in the grocery business for many years, I know how tough it is. But this is ongoing obviously terrible and incapable management. A few months ago, I started going to Albertsons down hillhurst and only stop in on this location for quick trips, the same problems and rude characters persist.
