I'm standing outside of Vons at 5:15am with at least 20 other people trying to get in to do our shopping. All posted hours online and at the store say you open at 5am. The store opened, people started shopping, then were asked to leave the store. Some people were allowed to check out, others not. According to an employee, not a manager, they were supposed to open at 6am today, yet that is not posted anywhere. Seems a little disorganized and is frustrating to those just trying to do our regular shopping. read more

Had to shop here last night to pick up a few things around 4:30pm. I avoid this store like the plague, but I knew that Sprouts doesn't carry some of the things I needed and I didn't have time to drive to my usual Albertsons across town. I walk the gauntlet past the Starbuck's line blocking my path and the maze of items strategically stacked and placed to slow down thieves as they run from the store. (I'm not sure how a feather light display of Lays potato chips is going to stop someone barreling out of the store, but it sure is effective in making it exceptionally difficult for paying customers to actually enter the store with their large carts.) First item on my list: a few small red poinsettias. The poinsettia display outside was picked over and had no small red ones. Most of what they did have were wilted or damaged and not in traditional red. Checked the inside floral area. Two employees we're busy chatting with and slowly ringing up the purchases of another employee. There are a bunch of huge cardboard floral boxes stacked in the aisles, so I'm hopeful they might have some fresh poinsettias in the size and color I'm looking for. The two team members rudely tell me to "go look outside" and go back to chatting with each other. I head over to the customer service counter to ask if they can help me, but give up after waiting in a huge line for a few minutes. Onwards to shopping for groceries...SO many items I picked up were well past their expiration dates (particularly in the fancy cheeses case by the deli). The baking aisle looked like it had been looted. Clearly they had not anticipated that customers might be doing some holiday baking the week before Christmas and might need things like flour, sugar, and chocolate chips. I reached into the bin of lemons in the produce department and came up with moldy lemons (Photo). One squished all over my hand. After I make my way out of the store exit maze, I congratulate myself for getting past the usual array of panhandlers and pitchmen outside without having to interact. I ended up driving to BevMo to get the other liquor items that weren't stocked at VONS. I get home and can't find the two bottles of wine I purchased ($50) at VONS. I finally find them rattling around, labels scratched, unprotected in the bottom of the bag underneath my unused reusable bags. Note to self: continue to avoid this place! read more

Do not go here if you need to check out quickly in the morning. There is one cashier before 7 am and the line can quickly get long. Even when they call for back up no one comes. This has been the status quo for many years. There are a lot of employees stocking shelves and preparing online orders in the isles but no one to actually check people out. read more

My 3 stars are in comparison to other Vons locations. As far as Vons locations go, it's well, A-OK. As with most large grocery stores, there are pros and cons. The store is clean, and selection is about what you'd expect. It's typically not too crowded, so you can usually get in and out pretty quick. My big complaint is about the Deli counter. Typically the staff behind the counter there seems very lackadaisical. One time they also tried to rip me off. Their computer printed the wrong label for an item (one that was 3 dollars more a pound), and the lady looked at the label, you could tell she knew it was wrong, she looked at me, then stuck it on the item anyway. When I called her on it, she seemed really embarrassed, but not in a "whoops!' way, more in a "oh he caught me" way. If I'm forced to go to a Vons, this one is certainly my 1st choice. read more

Terrible pharmacy. They do not answer their phone and don't respond to voicemail. Line is always long. Once I waited forever in line just to find out that my medication was a "special order" and wasn't in stock. I thought this pharmacy would be convenient since I live within walking distance but they're nothing but a headache! I am switching pharmacies! read more

I'm quite surprised by the overall low rating for this location. Sure it isn't the nice looking Von's but I will share with you that the service we received from Jerry in the meat department was unparalleled and instantly guaranteed our return for all meat purchases from here forward. Without hesitation Kerry offered to cut and trim us fresh meat straight off the carcass hanging in the back. Great price point to boot. read more

Store Mgr., Alan Baum, must be doing a bang-up job, as this store continues to shine in the service dept.. SHANNAN, my checker, outdid herself with her pleasant, helpful, fast service. (There's that word again.) Aisles are always fully stocked with clean, shinny floors. Produce area, though smaller than other Von's, reigns supreme with helpful staff, usually arranging veggies. Went to buy Claritin for my allergies and price said 13 bucks. Went to check out and they rung up 30 bucks! I showed them a picture and didn't change the price. You need a different system for how to purchase items that are not on the floor so people can't move things around. Not really happy, at target we would of changed the price for you and fix the problem. read more

Vons used to be a great place to shop but after the strike, the re-model to Safeway, and huge employyee turnover it is just average. There are so many places to buy groceries today that with a little effort one can easily beat their prices on just about every item. Without sales and double coupons, I would not spent much money here. The days of brand loyalty are over for me, I shop based on price. read more

Like everyone I have had problems with the people who loiter outside. I usually just ignore them, they dont bother me. Until today. I was doing my grocery shopping minding my own business when a couple who are regulars outside come around the corner and start calling me a slut and a whore and yelling other things that are not pg. The staff went into action little to my knowledge that manager had already been called and the vendors all blocked them and they were promptly escorted outside. It is unfortunate that they cant control the people outside the store because the people who work here are amazing. A bagger even handed me a tissue because she saw that I was crying. I like Vons over all when I use my 4 U coupons. But I have found you REALLY need to read your receipt becuase it is easy to get overcharged. They always are nice about correcting the problem. Tonight, I called the Pharmacy. How busy can it be at 7:15pm? I heard it ring like 8 times before they picked up, Can you hold? slam..on hold..waiting, waiting, it goes through the ring cycle again and it rings another 8 times..and they pick up and hastily say, Can I help you? I ask if it is really that busy to be on hold for 5 mins..Yeah, it's busy..she didn't seem like she wanted to help Her tme of voice was not customer service friendly. However,. the other Vons Pharmacy I called, they didn't even pick up but put me on la la music..so go figure.. I myself am in customer service. I hope I don't treat people like this! read more

This store is WAY too expense and I hate it, but my beef is with their poorly managed pharmacy. (I stopped shopping here years ago) Called three times just to have to go to a greeting, informing me that they are too busy to answer the phone and to leave my call back info. Like someone else said, if I could give this store negative stars I would do it in a heartbeat. I've been shopping here for years, nd the sad part is I loved the store, but I'd have to say in the past 6 months this place has become completely inadequate. The lines had been getting longer and longer. Then they removed the self check so you can count on a 10 minute wait in line or even longer. The 3's a crowd is an absolute joke. Items have either been deleted from from the inventory or they move it around so much that not even the people that work there know where to find it. Dropped in this evening to deposit a check and decided to get something for dinner. 4-5 lanes open, 6-7 people in each one. One out of three quick checks open. I was 7th in line and by the time I was checking out, there were no less than 15 people behind me. The management needs to get busy correcting this issue or take down the stupid 3's a crowd signs. read more

I prefer to shop at Sprouts, but I can't get everything I need there, so sometimes I come to this Von's. They usually have their sale items in stock and that's why I'm giving them 2 stars. The employees aren't helpful at all and always seem disgruntled. Whenever I stop and ask someone for help finding something they seem annoyed and unhappy to point me in the right direction. I'm an older lady and I don't want to circle the store several times trying to find everything I need. Also, it's pretty pricey compared to other stores. When they came out with the Just for You program, a lot of items rang up wrong and when I would show the person at Customer Service, they were always short with me. This has been happening less so I guess they're working out the kinks. I'd just prefer to shop elsewhere. read more

This is the biggest Vons I've ever been in. There's a Starbucks, a pharmacy, a deli, a sushi area, a florist, & a newly redesigned organic produce area. Their staff are always nice and they always have everything I need. There's also a Pizza Hut, a Panda Express and a Chinese Buffet in the same area so parking can get busy. I think that the trolley tends to attract the seedier sort which is a shame. read more

I ordered yesterday for an order to be delivered on May 5th. When the order was placed, everything was in stock. Low and behold, I get an email and half my order was not fulfilled because they ran out. I needed that for dinner tonight and not to find out until an hour before delivery that certain items were not available, but were in stock when ordered is unacceptable. Spoke to a customer service representative and they said that the orders are not pulled until the day of delivery. That is horrible. I cannot drive because of medical reasons. Ever since Albertson's bought all the companies out here, they are now overpriced, quality is so so, and they don't care, especially in the time of a pandemic. Maybe they were just having a bad day, but the lines were at least 8 deep tonight around 5pm. I didn't notice any checkouts opening in response. So much for "3's a crowd". I've had issues with this location in the past (one night a few years ago the lines were well into the aisles (the one at the now gone self check stretched over to the produce area that night). Things had improved since then but tonight the same old garbage. This location is close to me (visible from my kitchen window) and I'll try it again at some point and adjust rating if merited. Easily the worst vons I've been to. For some reason they decided to go back in time and remove their self check out station. The staff were not approachable and the lines to pay had 5-10 people in each. It took me 5 minutes to get what I needed and 20 minutes to pay. This is the most poorly managed Vons you can imagine. The lines are always unnecessarily long with checkers that have no sense of urgency. It's also not unusual to bag my own groceries since the front seems continuously under staffed. Not to mention they are constantly out of stock of sale items. If I could give this place a negtive star I would. Sad to say this about my neighborhood Vons but this place is riddled with employees with attitude. Yesterday i went shopping and had a wagon full of stuff, one of the items I got was in sale for and it rang up regular price so she call for a price check. The coutesy clerk came back with the sale tag and told the cashier it was expired and so the cashier said " sorry, it's no longer that price" and proceeded to ring other things and came across another item that would ring up and said these item are only sold in 4 packs and I told her no they don't and so here goes another price check. I asked for the manager and told her about the item that was tagged at a lower price and that the cashier is charging me full price, told her the situation and ended getting the item for free , according to the manager, if the item is on sale for under $5 and is in sale but rings up at regular price, you get that item for free. A few minute later the second price check comes in and again the cashier was wrong about having to get the item in a 4pack. And so today I went to get a gift card and tried to check out at the self check and the screen said see cashier and so I call the self check monitor and she said I couldn't buy gift cards at the self check anymore directed to the other cashiers and had to wait in a regular line with 3 people deep because the didn't have their express line open. I should've been able to purchase the gift card at the customer service counter. No effort to provide customer service whatsoever. read more

I live .5 miles from this store but I will drive further to avoid it. The clerks are useless. I had two women walk right in front of me making 2 separate purchases saying they had been there and just stepped away....move your feet and you can start over. The clerk did nothing but rang up their order. Tonight was the final straw though as a guy who was fully loaded already was harassing people in line to buy his booze for him!!! The clerks did nothing and most of the patrons were just telling him no, but finally this one man said he would buy the booze for him just to get him to stop harassing people. I said something to the security guy on my way out and he immediately went to intervene. The clerks should have alerted him right away. Additionally they have plenty of room but often don't have certain items that I can find at another grocery store off the 125. This was the last straw. read more

PHARMACY GAVE ME SOMEONE ELSE'S MEDS!!!!!! Not Good! If taken together, the meds that were mine, mixed with the meds of the other person with similar name, I might have DIED! Not to mention they gave me the other person's personal info (name, address, phone number, birth date, doctor's name and prescription info) right on the print out! THIS PISSES ME OFF! Went there on Labor Day, which is obviously a Monday, for their Monday meal deal since it was way too hot to cook. Upon placing my order, the guy at the deli said they dont honor the meal deal on holidays. Not his fault, he didnt make the rules, but I tried to explain to him and the other lady there that nowhere does it say that on their signs advertised all over the store. Pretty lame if you ask me. This review is only for the pharmacy. In my first experience here, the pharmacy filled my prescription incorrectly, then billed me incorrectly. Since this is the closest pharmacy to my house, I still gave them another chance since everyone has bad days. That brings us to this morning... After being put on a lengthy hold, someone picked up, asked me one question then put me back on hold. Except, she didn't put me on hold, she hung up. I called back and told them that I was disconnected, and the same person promptly told me that I was wrong because the "light was still flashing". Ok, whatever. She then can't find my prescriptions, and promptly begins to question whether I even saw my doctor this morning since it is a holiday. WHAT?! So disorganized and unprofessional. I will never be using this pharmacy again. read more
