Amazing cake decoration from Corina and Ann. I mean wow!! I'm so happy Ann suggested for them to make a freshly baked carrot cake which is my girlfriend's favorite. They decorated it with flowers, and even wrote " !" Which isn't the easiest thing to do and did it perfectly. On my way into the store today I decided to do them a favor and take a cart maybe 25 feet from the door. The cart would not budge! A lady who had one arm in a sling, told me it had been that way. After shopping, a very irritating experience with the store prices sky high, I wheeled my cart to my car.........or tried to!!! I was jolted to a VERY sudden stop. I've been going to this Vons for years, every week. Recently ive been so disappointed though. Something changed with the quality of the bakery department within the last few weeks. The baked goods are stale now and the service in that department (more specifically with the man in his late 50s), has been so rude. I have never been one to write a bad review but I felt I had to say something. I've seen him disrespecting elders, rude to me, and I have definitely seen the quality of food go down. Been to this Vons so many during my time working in San Marcos, I always come here for their deal on BBQ Habanero chicken, recently revisited it, everything was still the same, a lot of good stuffs to buy, even tried their pharmacy for the first time which they let me pick up prescription from another Vons, waited for an hour but they called and said they couldn't override it for some reasons, called the main pharmacy from La Mesa, and they were being like a bunch of a holes, blaming me for switching locations, well I am not driving back to La Mesa during rush hours if I was in Escondido if that makes any sense, at least this Vons was nicer to explain to me what's going on read more

Have You Tried Vons for Sushi! OMG! They have a sushi maker at the store everyday making fresh sushi! He can't speak a word of English but can use his phone to translate! BUT THE SUSHI is the BEST in Escondido! So convenient, so good! REALLY! I challenge anyone to try and see if you've had better! Great sashimi! Incredible Spring Rolls. My sweetheart and I took our six year old grandson into this Von's location in North Escondido in search of Pokemon cards which we found out were all the rage, in demand and basically sold out all the time. We were frustrated by this futile hunt for the in demand cards, when we found the vending machine that dispenses these cards, naturally everything was sold out. We asked a store clerk by the name of Anna who told us it sells out all the time but if we came back in around 20 minutes, there's a chance that they might begin vending certain cards again. Our grand son was pretty much crushed and despondent and began quietly weeping. That's when Colleen, another Von's employee came up to inquire as to why our grandson had a long face. She then said follow me to a check stand and proceeded to unlock a small safe and pulled out a pile of the valueable cards and asked him which ones he had and which cards he was lacking. She then handed our grandson the ten cards he did not have yet and said to keep them, they're yours! Our grandson's face lit up like a candle to know that they were now his! We asked Colleen how much we owed her for the cards, and she said they're free! Now our faces lit up! She then took time out of her busy day to explain to us just how to operate the Pokemon machines and tips on what to do if the vending machine was currently out of the particular card that our grandson desired. She was very nice and cheerful to our grandson which really made us feel great! In this day and age of disappearing customer service, we really wanted to acknowledge Anna and especially Colleen for her expert customer service that really went far beyond our expectations!!! 5 stars for sure!! Typically okay, except the last two times I've been here I've gotten items that have expired. The first time it was yogurt, Yesterday I went and bought the pre sliced apples, for school lunch, and I sent my son with one today. To my disgust they are expired (July 23rd) and moldy! Which you can't really tell at first look however when you open the package it's obvious. This is absolutely disgusting. My son doesn't talk a whole lot, so his teacher didn't realize it was moldy as they just opened the package and gave it to him, probably assuming it was FRESH AS IT SHOULD BE. I loved Vons but I will purposely go to a further store just so we don't accidentally buy something expired again. Gross! read more

On a Wednesday afternoon you would think the featured item on the front page of the ad would be available. Front and center a good price on chicken. But they have none. The employee at the meat counter said they were out. Oh, well, off to the next item on the list, but again it is all sold out. This store has become a joke. The checkers for the most part are friendly. Everyone else is mad at the world. The supervisors are not friendly. They hire people far too slow to bag groceries and make the line wait time longer. There are always several open self serve lanes and never enough checkers. I watch people steal at the self serve every time I stand in the long lines. And lately they NEVER have the items listed for sale in the ads delivered to homes. The next closest Vons is less than a mile away but it's not safe to park there at night. So Ralph's gets another customer and Vons takes another step towards irrelevance. This store has become unwelcoming with holes in the parking lot and homeless begging throughout the lot. Signs litter the ground asking for help. read more

We needed 700 deli sandwiches for a large event. The deli service did a GREAT job. The sandwiches were fresh and delicious. I recommend the pretzel bread roast beef sandwiches. I will use the service again when we need a catered event. read more

As a longtime Escondido resident, I have been happy to support my local Vons or Albertson store and was always pleased with the quality of meat, produce, baked goods and staff who have always been kind, courteous and helpful. Today, I was very shocked to see the bakery attendant throwing entire trays of baked goods into the trash! I asked if they were not supposed to be stocked on the day old bakery rack or donated to the less fortunate. She told me that the new bakery manager had made a policy to not offer baked goods on the clearance rack or make them available to the less fortunate through donations to the local shelter. This is so deeply disturbing, especially during these times of ever increasing prices and shortages due to national policies! I also shop at the Vons on Felicita which always has a stocked Day Old Bakery rack for Senior Citizens on fixed incomes and the less fortunate. We could shop at Stater Bros. or Major Market or any number of independent grocers who better support the community but am asking Vons to re-examine their policy and reinstate their Day Old Bakery offerings or at least donate them to the less fortunate and recover their rightful place, actively supporting our community! read more

Their employees are nice and sometimes remember me. 5 stars to their bakery and especially the bagels. Use extreme caution. As of July 3, 2020; they are no longer following OSHA, CDC or county guidelines on COVID-19. My aunt went for senior hours, to find out they were eliminated. They are now allowing reusable bags and not enforced social/physical distancing. One recent community outbreak had been at a grocery store. Please use due diligence if you go here. This is my neighborhood supermarket. I like it, I really do. Produce section is great, shelves are stocked, starbucks, bakery, the whole shebang...so why 3 stars? The lines are insane. Yesterday at Vons checkout I noticed I had not received the sale price on several items purchased. I reviewed the Ad price compared to the receipt. I was overcharged and went to customer service to see about getting a refund. I waited for more than 15 minutes for customer service, then was told to go over to the self checkout and ask for Jonathan, where I waited another twenty minutes. I was overcharged $22.41. I wish I could tell you this was the only time this happened at Vons. I've been shopping here for 24 years, and over the last 3 years, the overcharge has become a frequent issue. I thought it had something to do with using the app to order and pick up my groceries. I decided yesterday to shop in store and still was overcharged. Check your prices and your receipts carefully. Goodness only knows how many people they've done this to. With the cost of groceries, Vons should make sure their advertised sale prices are in their computers and stop wasting another 40 minutes of customer time to correct the Vons error. And even then, they still shorted me by a dollar. read more

Meat case was full and looked great. We picked up some marked-down beef ribs and pork chops, both of which had last sale dates for the next day. At checkout, the cashier didn't know how to handle an eGift Card and tried to refuse to honor it. Training on eGift Cards continues to be spotty in Vons. read more

I stopped at this Vons last night to deposit some cash in the Wells Fargo ATM and get a couple of things. I made my deposit and then walked away without retrieving my ATM card. (It had been along day at work.) I picked out a couple of things I needed and headed back to the self-check out registers. It was there that I realized I didn't have my ATM card. I walked over to the ATM machine to see if my card was there - it wasn't. I sighed. I went back to finish checking out and Zac approached me and asked my name. I told him and he said "I think this is yours" and handed me my ATM card. Wrapped around my card with a rubber band was a one hundred dollar bill that the ATM had spit back out when I was making my deposit. Thank you Zac!! read more

It's Von's. It has an ok selection, and a very helpful staff. I stop here occasionally because it is on my way home from work. I find their prices to be rather high, so I don't do my regular shopping here, but when I need to pick up a couple of things on my way home, it's ideal. When I'm in, I always stop by the deli for something (either hot or cold), and the service in the deli is always friendly and efficient. There is one person in particular I always seek out, named Brooks. He is a lovely older gentleman, who always serves with a smile and a friendly disposition. Besides the higher-than-average prices, my biggest complaint is that the checkout stands always-and I mean ALWAYS-have long waits. There is usually only two (maybe 3) portals of payment open, and the lines are always super long, and when I'm tired from a double shift, this situation is frustrating. So, yes, I shop occasionally at this Von's for an item or two while on my way home form work, but as for my major grocery needs, I shop elsewhere. read more

When I walked in the door , I could feel the AC on high which is I like cuz keep the vegetables and products always fresh. Also their meat department look nice and clean. Went to get a bagel from the Starbucks inside, and they gave me the idea that it would be cheaper to get it from the bakery. I went to get my bagel and got it warmed up from the deli. I just wanted to say two things: 1. Starbucks employees inside the Vons were great and so nice. 2. The deli employees were giving me so much attitude and were so rude to me. This is in regards to the pharmacy. There is a pharmacy Technician there named Ashley and she is the most rude and unhappy person I have ever encountered. My fiancé has type 1 diabetes so he picks up medication here very often which is unfortunate. Ashley will say they don't have the medication in stock but if you ask the pharmacist they do. She is very unnecessarily passive aggressive and will roll her eyes at you (we have both experienced this multiple times). She's snappy to respond to you and shuts you down when you try to talk or ask questions. She is very unprofessional and extremely difficult to interact with. My fiancé and I always discuss how unpleasant she is going to be when we're about to return into the Vons pharmacy to pick up a medication and let me tell you, Ashley doesn't disappoint. She is automatically rude and in the worst mood literally every time. My fiancé will most definitely be switching pharmacies because we just can't take anymore of dealing her. She will literally ruin your day every time. I'm never met someone so unhappy with their life and job. Unfortunate to say the least. On the other hand the actual Pharmacist is extremely nice and pleasant to interact with. He is very helpful and a professional person. It's just unfortunate that the whole experience is overshadowed by Ashley's rude and angry behavior. read more
