Horrible, horrendous experience. If they were the last car dealership on earth, I'd rather go without a car. I was stock and had to buy a car asap. They had the exact used car I was looking for, so I got it. From the second I walked into the showroom I felt like I was bothering them. The entire sales experience was THE WORST I've had on my LIFE [and I'm 64 yrs old]. Then when I finally got the car home, Irealized that the windshield wipers were never changed, they were really crappy, and also both key fobs and both remote starts needed batteries. I called the dealership and was told, 'really? The batteries never gave me a low signal. Just replace them and send us the bill". SERIOUSLY?? No 'I'm sorry' or 'that should not have happened' NOTHING. Again, I spent over $32,000.00 and felt horrible when I left the dealership. Not one person in the dealership even congratulated me on my purchase. I've bought cars at other dealerships and the people couldn't do enough for me! Volvo DANVERS is HORRIBLE. I believe I was lied to. It costed me almost $700 today and will cost over $500 more to fully remediate. Two years ago, in 2023, I purchased a vehicle. I asked multiple times that the wheel locks be removed and was adamantly assured they were removed. This week, I brought the car to a tire shop to replace the tires. Not only were there wheel locks on all four wheels, but, two of the locks were over-torqued and stuck, so, the mechanics could not remove them. Today, I brought the car to my local dealer and it took their maintenance team over FOUR HOURS of actual work and a BLOWTORCH to remove the locks. (I was there waiting for six hours.) The bill was nearly $700. The rim was unavoidably damaged and will cost more than $500 in addition to replace. LET THE BUYER BEWARE. read more

While developing issues still under warranty and the diagnosis extending beyond warranty I was forced to pay for an almost total engine and air suspension replacement. The suspension issue even had a Volvo factory bulletin, however it required that a fuse needed to fail and two service codes had to be present. An independent Volvo repair shop found all the bulletin required codes/etc., however the dealer could only find two of the three notwithstanding the air suspension had failed. I haven't had a car accident since 1988. It was major: icing on Mystic River Bridge. I didn't know bridges iced before roads! I didn't expect it. The gentlewoman who helped me was outstanding as well as colleagues . One of them knows my family: small world! Being both Italian, we had memories to share about the good old days in Boston over a double expresso. Yes, while I waited to see the financial officer I had coffee , and the time went by fast! The finance officer shared his box of chocolates while going over documentation! What a treat EVERYONE was friendly , and at the same time, professional! I've been leasing a car with BMW for 20 years, but now it was time to buy a car I want to keep and Volvo has a good longevity record! Before that, I listened to BIDEN and chose an EV . WHAT a nightmare. I was told it would give me 220 miles a charge? So when I used heat in the winter, it would give me 80. Summer ? Same with air conditioning. I froze in the Winter and melted in Summer! You think a 50,000 $ car? No heated wheel, no automatic trunk closer and many more disappointments !! For 2 years I couldn't drive long distances , or give friends a ride home! YUP, we are not ready for EVs . charging stations were either Teslar or BROKEN!! Hey I tried. My son's been driving my Volvo but I was concerned by how every time he went to Danvers Volvo he came home telling me they wanted to make repairs costing thousands of dollars but, anyways, I pulled into their service area yesterday with what I thought was a simple problem: a dashboard light showed that my hood was slightly open. Unfortunately, I dealt with a female employee who claimed she didn't know how to open the hood. She had an attitude where, she felt, everything she said was correct, and everything I said was wrong. Finally, I said, if we could just open and close the hood, that might just fix the problem but, again, she told me she didn't know how to open the hood, so I asked if there was anyone else there who could help me? This was a logical question considering she was entirely incompetent, but, she said "No, there's no one else you can talk to," even though there were several other employees all around. "Well then, I'm going to have to leave," I said to which she said "why? I'm helping you." So I asked: Is there a man I can speak to? She was very upset that I asked to speak to a man and she asked me why? I said because I believe a man would just open and close the hood and we may just solve this issue right away. Unsurprisingly, and with her bad attitude, she told me we'd have to schedule a time with the mechanic to work on my car, thus showing more incompetence. I left and drove down the street to another mechanic. When I explained to this new mechanic that a dashboard light was on showing my hood was open, he immediately opened and closed the hood and the dashboard light disappeared. Then, voluntarily and with courtesy, unlike Volvo, he said: sometimes the lever that holds the hood sticks so, before you drive off, let me spray it with some lubricant. I asked him: what do I owe you? He said: nothing, it was nothing to fix. Importantly, the woman at Volvo called me sexist for asking to speak to a man, but I asked politely. In any event, this experience caused me to tell my son to no longer rely on Volvo Danversport to fix the car as they are either untrustworthy or incompetent, and as my family is considering to buy a new Volvo, I can say that there's no way I will give the business to Volvo Danvers, and I found an excellent new mechanic for the future. A worker who harasses a customer who asks to speak to a man, a reasonable and polite request, isn't meeting the minimum expectations of the job and it's that simple. read more

This is best dealership I've ever dealt with when purchasing a car, I bought my 2020 VW Tiguan from them last March after searching for months at various VW dealers with no luck. I was surprised to find the VW that checked all the boxes of what I wanted in their used inventory- I reached out about looking at the car and they immediately held the car for me and set up a time for a test drive. After getting the run around at other dealershipsI walked in knowing exactly what I was looking for, and I purchased my vehicle same day and left with it- the total process was under 2 hours. I couldn't believe it. There was no run around, I was trading in my Subaru- they gave me a good faith trade in value over the phone and then ended up giving even more for my trade in that day which ended up being 2-3k more than any other dealership offered me. The entire process was seamless and headache free- I purchased on a Saturday so the following Monday they did all the leg work with the DMV, and I have lottery plates so there were a couple of unexpected extras with the registration which they handled. BEWARE before you buy a Volvo. DO NOT BUY. My2016 XC60 with 123k miles on it had the engine go on it with zero warnings. It was serviced regularly. I heard pinging under the hood and immediately pulled off the road. Volvo of Danvers told me the engine needed to be replaced to the tune of $19,000! I pulled up online a class action lawsuit against Volvo for faulty pistons in the 2016 XC that could cause engine failure. They then offered me $ 500 for my car, that is an insult. I asked if they could work with me on the 19k repair cost. They said NO. I just received a phone call from the Sales Department at Volvo of Danvers to see if I was interested in a new Volvo, seriously? NEVER Volvo of Danvers and Volvo corporate may say they care about the customer, but their actions speak very differently. read more

I just had thousands of dollars of work, including a timing belt, a water pump, an engine mount, and both front end suspension done. Within a month my engine light was back on and it was due to a problem with my oil pressure valve. since I had just been there weeks before, they took care of this new problem at no charge. Thank you to Gordon. They treated me fair instead of trying to charge me more. They showed me the part they replaced that was defective. She's wonderfully attentive and knowledgeable, providing us with exceptional transparency and customer service throughout this entire process. The general vibe here is friendly, non aggressive which is refreshing when you're dreading going to a dealership to buy a new car. During our visits we were greeted at the scheduled time accordingly and welcomingly -- we are quite picky and selective with our needs and wants, but Rachel was patient and helpful every step of the way. Our only concerning interaction during our purchase was the loan officer who was very rude and stand-off-ish. However, this was immediately rectified after Rachel spoke with their GM. Service advisor was rude; when I returned to pick up the car she didn't speak to me to tell me what was done to the car, just pointed me to the cashier's window. I would NOT recommend using this dealership EVER to fix or buy a volvo!! Last March my tailgate was coming down on me by about 6" and they diagnosed it as needing new pistons. The problem was tolerable and I didn't have the $500 to get it fixed then. When I did, they misdiagnosed it saying there was no problem with the pistons- I guess pistons fix themselves?! That night I opened it and nothing had changed, it was still coming back down. The very next day the motor to the tailgate broke! (I've been told by numerous mechanics that this would not have happened if they had fixed the pistons the prior day). No apology, nothing!! They very flippantly asked if I wanted to book an appointment and that it was going to cost an additional $1700 above the $500 to fix the motor too!! Like everyone has an extra $1700 sitting around!!! I sent a demand letter and got no response. So I called after the required response time of 30 days and they said the best they can do is take $350 off. The parts alone are $950- which I was willing to pay, which means their "deal" still had me paying $900 for labor. This is unacceptable for an occurrence that was caused by them! I recently went to purchase a used car that I saw online, I met with the sales representative who was very friendly and helpful. He even sent me a nice video of the car the following day to help secure my decision and made me excited to want the vehicle. The issue arose with the finance department. I have never been so embarrassed for both an individual and myself for the way this finance representative acted towards me. I went in wanting to purchase said vehicle and after asking her to run more than 2 scores to secure my interest rate, which she did not like me asking, and having a conversation about a program that was currently listed on their website (they said it wasn't active, but just posted on their website still and they didn't know it was still posted - which is fine, that is all she would of had to say). She stood up mid conversation, stormed into the lobby and screamed to all who were in the dealership that should could not and would not work with someone like me, I was in her office for no more than two minutes. There was no attitude in this conversation and no out of the ordinary discussion that should have moved her to act this way. I have purchased 3 vehicles this year and I have had no one ever come close to the way that she spoke to me. Extremely disrespectful and unprofessional, and embarrassing for both parties. So my wife stopped by this dealership one day about half an hour before closing. We had never considered Volvo, Spent about 30 minutes with Ed who seemed nice enough. She made an appointment for the following Saturday so we could both go back. When we got there Ed was with another couple. We waited about 20 minutes and he came over and said he was tied up, We understood. Looked like he was closing a sale, We really wanted to test drive a car. He had an associate bring one out. Last year I brought my 2015 wagon (bought there in 2018) in for "routine maintenance" which was basically an $800 oil change. They put a "next change at 10,000 miles" on my windshield - yes you read that right! Thank god I have some sense my dad taught me and went for a change at a local oil change facility at 6,000 miles to find that there was only about 1/2 quart of oil in the car and in danger of a total disaster. They also told me I needed front and rear brakes and a new battery - and after bringing to a local volvo mechanic that none of these services were needed at that time. Oh and lastly, after paying a $2500 extended warranty at the time of purchase that was supposed to cover the "50 plus computers in the car" they would not cover a computer reset of the sunroof mechanism to close the open roof claiming it was "cosmetic". Made an appointment for my 70k service. Making the appointment and check in were easy. After check in it went down hill. Firstly, no one called to tell me my car was ready. I had to call and ask. Had I not it would of stayed there over night and possibly the weekend, since the service department is closed in the weekend. Secondly, I asked them to look into a bulb issue I was having with my tail light. They replaced it and it cost me 40 dollars! 40dollars to replace 2 tail light?! With 128 Volvo shut down, they're swamped and maybe someone called out after the Bruins. I agreed to wait and took my 2.5 year old to Sky Zone then lunch. Received a call back relatively quickly from my Service Writer and was reminded I was due for the '60,000' check up. I said no thanks, just the oil change. Awesome I thought. They were already working on my car! Came back at NOON and was told my car hadn't gone in yet? That a 'bay' may open up in about 15 minutes, then I'd need to wait another 1 hour and 15 minutes. BEST case a 4 hour wait for an Oil Change? I asked the Service Manager what they could do to expedite the process. He literally said, "we just told you, you wait" then pretended to take a phone call and turned his back on me. (the phone did not ring and he did not dial. He held it to his ear as I stood silently looking at him) Then he told the writer to give me my keys back if I don't want to wait. To my (service writer) I like you man. I've worked with you for over 2 years at 128 and was excited to see you. I went to Danvers because I heard you went there. I could tell you were powerless in this situation dealing with this guy. His desk is cluttered, he's short with everyone that tries to talk to him and you can tell he's way over his head. My ask of you is If things are that back logged from the jump, tell people up front an honest time frame and give them the option to reschedule. Overall, the staff and salespeople were great. Out of 5 Volvo dealerships this one wins the award for best service. Only two minor complaints - the car was advertised as having a feature that it turned out not having. We were told that in the small print it stated errors can be made in the listing. I'd just recommend proof reading the listings as I wouldn't think there was fine print and I'd assume most people don't. Secondly, we went to pick the car up and were closing on a house the same day. The car wasn't ready so we waited for hours. I'm impatient so I'll take the blame. I 100% recommend this dealership and the salesperson, Sergio, specifically - just make sure to read the fine print and double confirm pick-up times for your new Volvo. *Sergio drove from Danvers to Boston on his day off so my wife could test drive a car. They are difficult to work with - on my new XC60 that I didn't buy from them they said first that thye fixed a problem then when I returned a 2nd time they said it was my fault (I must have spilled something in it - cause it was sticky inside) and that it would not be covered under warrenty. The problem was with the side view mirror button not functioning. Hmmm how did it go from fixed to my fault? I am disturbed with how easily they could blame the customer for the problem when it seems obvious to me that in such an expensive vehicle the button mechanism was defective. By the way they knicked the door panel - maybe I should go back and point this out but they will give me a story for that as well! In case you are wondering the replacement part is $500 + add'l cost for installation I will go to the dealer that I bought the car. I hope they aren't quick to blame me! read more

I have been getting my car maintained here for years. I had an appointment set up for weeks at 8 am to drop off vehicle. Myself and other customers showed up at 8 am and there was no one there. We called an apparently they had changed hours without letting people know. I sent an email to the manager Bob Kamal and he replied rudely without apologizing for their error. I will not be going back here ever again. Some basic customer service would have done the trick to maintain the business. Picked up my car on Tuesday, in which the car was supposedly detailed. It was not. It was actually quite disgusting when pulling down the sunvisor on the driver's side. Beyond that, the sales rep wasn't there when I picked up the car, so I had some rando pair my phone to the car, but couldn't even activate my Volvo Cars app. There are several things that I have had to Google or go to YouTube to figure out. I am also bothered that many of my questions were ignored by the sales person and they didn't "fight for my business". No pricing incentive. Overall, pretty good. Positives and negatives: Sales process: It was overall pretty good actually (purchased Nov 2019). I've had very negative experiences elsewhere, but Rachel was my salesperson and she seemed to be straightforward, knowledgeable, (no bs, which I appreciate and prefer!), and helpful. However, the loan guy was grimey. GRIMEY. He was withholding, in a rush (in a rush to take advantage of me and get me out of his office so he could do the same to the next customer...), could tell he didn't take me seriously (seemed he thought I wouldn't ask questions, etc.). I walked in and he said "Okay, with this package, it'll be $xxx and with this one, etc." Without EVER telling me the loan percentage I qualified for...when asked, he was very "bs-y." "Oh ya, rates are high right now, so..." (No they weren't. I did my homework. Rates were not high at that point in the market. And I have excellent financial standings so that wasn't a factor.) Anyway. Rachel during the sales process, great. Finance guy, awful. Service: I'm coming up to my 30,000 mi marker, meaning, time for service. I was originally told I had "1 more complimentary service before 30,000 miles." (Essentially it was part of the agreement that was with the initial purchase of the car with the owners before me, that was transferable with the car.) When I went to make my apt, they told me that agreement expired in Feb...well, weeks later, I was finally able to get in touch with someone. At that time, the person told me that she'd get a supervisor, but "I highly doubt he's going to give you that for free..." (To be clear: I wasn't trying to "get something for free." I was trying to take advantage of the offer that was presented to be upon the sale.) Anyway, that said, Emilio, the supervisor, called me the very next morning, and he was amazing. "Ya, that's totally fine. I'll get you in and take care of that for you." Mind blown. I thought I'd have to have a ton of back and forth and convincing, etc, but no! He was fantastic. I love this customer service. I was REALLY unhappy with the previous interaction, but he turned it around immediately. The worst service. I was a loyal customer to 128 Volvo, but after they closed I was forced to go to Volvo Danvers. Every visit since then has been miserable. From keeping my car all day with NO updates and no loaner when it was supposed to be a "quick" service, to telling me I need all new tires a week after I purchased brand new ones because they wanted the money, to judging me for not staying and waiting for a recall service and oil change because I have a newborn at home. I understand if they do not have time to clean and wash the car post service (I know that's a luxury), but to leave it dirtier than when it came in is unacceptable. I should not be cleaning oil smears out of the leather. Not to mention they ripped the Volvo decal off my steering wheel and left it hanging on there. Volvo Danvers makes me want to never get a Volvo again. Time to trade it in. read more
