He also threatened to post a negative review of my business if I submitted this one about his. The only problem with his threat is that he is not, never has been, and never will be a customer of my business. Kinda evil, if you ask me. So, I'd recommend giving this place a hard pass. The massages are cheap, but they're also average, and there are plenty of alternative establishments out there that are owned and operated by people who won't keep your money without providing services and then threaten to commit libel against you if you post a negative review. My friend and I booked this massage on a whim after a recommendation from someone at work. They were super accommodating and got us in on a Saturday. We were super excited and ready to get our massages. The directions given to us by the receptionist was super helpful because Apple Maps had us in the wrong building. Upon arriving we were greeted and I was told to go upstairs for my massage. My masseus wasn't aware that she would be servicing me until she asked if I had checked in and what time was my appointment. Then she stated that she had not been notified but then she got me set up in my room for my massage. To start off I had a 90 min massage in a cold room because a fan was on. I didn't even bother to mention it because I was trying to zen out but it was chilly in there. Also I asked for medium deep pressure but I just felt it was extremely surface level I left my massage feeling the same as before I left. When my friend and I got together she told me about her service and I was mortified. She had the same experience with her masseuse not knowing what service she was receiving and the masques even cut her service short because she didn't know she booked a 90 min service. Once the masseus realized she was wrong she came back to finish my friends service but she had already gotten dressed. This business has a lot of work to do. I don't know if it's a communication issue or skill issue but it needs to be fixed in order to continue their services. read more

Please read carefully! I had Rachel as my therapist today and if I were to rate only Rachel, this would be 5 stars. She is the best therapist I've had for a massage, ever, period! She definitely does deep tissue really well. I wish she would go independent and open her own practice. I would go regularly. And if she does, I hope she reaches out to me! I left Rachel gratuity on my credit card and I asked for a receipt before I left. The front desk woman said she would email me a receipt. I stood there waiting and she said "it's not something I can do in a few seconds." So I said "ok just email it to me." I got home and still no receipt but I see a charge on my card for Hess Chiropractic. After reading other reviews and my past experience at Hess Chiropractic, I'm now concerned it won't get to Rachel because of the awkward exchange. I really really hope it does. As for the massage, I had an ok massage, although it was a little more rough than I am used to with other masseuses. I've been going to Westlake Massage for about a year, and I'm very happy with them. I've been very satisfied with all of their therapists, so I haven't felt the need to request any by name when I schedule a session. Scheduling has always been easy, and I can usually get in within a week of my call. Westlake has a good month to month rate plan, which locks in your rate as long as you schedule one massage per month, and they're flexible if events cause you to miss a month. Found out about this place through a Living Social deal. Been here twice in total and both times I had Ali as my masseur. She's really good if you want the standard swedish massage treatment. I like that she pays attention to areas that are particularly tense instead of just going through the run of the mill routine. There's other masseurs that do the more advanced techniques but haven't personally tried them. WL Massage has an extensive array of massage services including Gua Sha which is where they scrape your back till it looks like you got beaten. Only time I've done that was in Taiwan and it was pretty painful but worth it in the end. If the price is right and I'm feeling bold I might give that a try. read more

I havent had a deep tissue massage in years. Kimberly was very nice to me at the front desk and worked with me on rescheduling my appointment a few times prior to today's massage. Today i was running late for my massage, and when i arrived, Kimberly had already filled in what little info that she could to help me finish the preliminary form and get on the massage table quickly. Jen was my massage therapist. She works magic with her hands. I have a herniated L5-S1 disc in my lower back, and i work in the moving industry and i am a weightlifter, so i hold a lot of tension in my muscle. I arrived 15 minutes late, and Jen was so kind as to still give me the entire one-hour session. She asked me during the massage if she was using enough pressure to make sure i was getting the tension relief i depserately needed. She was able to take all of the stress and pain out of mt muscles, especially lower back. I needed someone who could apply a lot of FIRM pressure to my knotted up muscles, especially back muscles and upper buttocks. I would highly recommend Westlake Massage and Jen to anyone needing muscle relief and relaxation. When the massage was over, i just wanted to stay on the table and sleep. read more

Pretty crappy that they sell you a package and do not follow up with email reminders or notifications of any kind that it is about to expire or that you have within a certain time period to use it. On top of that, I would say my first masseuse was so talkative I couldn't relax at all; and the second masseuse spent entirely too much time on my scalp and feet even after I indicated I wanted to focus on shoulders and back work. Would not recommend this place. So I guess I'm not totally bummed that I can't use my 3rd session that expired w/out my knowledge--probably would have been an unsatisfactory massage anyways. Unfortunately, I missed the call and despite all of my returned calls and voice mails... I never heard from them. I contacted Living Social to see if they had another contact number but the one they gave me didn't make a difference. They still didn't return my calls. I eventually got a refund from Living Social. I've had multiple massages from Stacia as well as Summer. Both are unique in their talents, and both equally amazing at massage. The front desk always calls 24 hours ahead of your appointment to confirm, and are as flexible as can be with such amazing therapists! I have been on a hunt to find a new place in Austin but had never been to Westlake massage until this week. I usually only post if a place is excellent and I must say I really enjoyed the experience. My therapist was Rachel and she is a nice classy person as well as a great therapist! I highly recommend her!!! She zeroed in on the stress knots and has the perfect combination of strong hands and wonderful technique. The facility itself is nice and minimalistic and the rooms are comfortable, clean and smells very nice. I will definitely be coming back but next time it will be for 90 mins! As a side note another customer on her way out raved about another therapist as well so that was encouraging, but personally I'm sticking with Rachel! Country girl in the city was a little lost when I turned into the complex, but GPS took me straight to the building. I found Westlake Massage through a Groupon special. Thank goodness because the massage was so worth it! The waiting area was clean with a wonderful smell of eucalyptus and lavender essential oils diffusing. The receptionist was friendly and checked me in quickly. I was directed upstairs to another waiting area but only had to wait a couple of minutes before my massage therapist greeted me with a smile and took me back to the room we would be using. It was clean, perfect atmospheric temperature, clean bedding, and soft music. He asked what areas I would like him to focus and what type of pressure I preferred. He then directed me to undress and lie down while he waited outside the room and said he would be back shortly. The linens were clean smelling and heated to the perfect temperature. When he returned, he focused on my neck, shoulders, back, and hips but did spend a little time on my legs, arms, hands, and scalp. Those 60 minutes went by too quickly! As I was checking out, I was offered a monthly special they were running. After those 60 minutes, I jumped on the chance for a monthly massage at an even better rate than the Groupon price! Found this company via Groupon, bought for my husband who was so impressed that he purchased a monthly plan that is worth more than it cost. With the work of the chiropractor and Danny's expertise of locating the muscles that have been causing me so much pain for years, I have been able to continue to be a hands on nurse with my patients. Danny has tailored my sessions to what I needed, but there are so many options ranging from light to deep tissue/ sports massage. I would have never received the proper treatment at a Massage Envy or some other massage group. Even when we move to North Austin, I will drive to Danny for my massage treatment. I had a one hour massage with Aubrey & she was AWESOME!! This was my first massage in over 10 years so I wasn't really sure what to do, but she explained everything & did such an amazing job. She focused on my upper back which is where my pain was, but in an hour also fit in my entire body - scalp, head, shoulders, lower back, legs, & feet. I cannot recommend her enough. My boyfriend got me a Groupon for a 60-minute deep tissue massage, it was nice, I'd give Aimee 4 stars. I'm giving 3 stars on my review because of the weird intro I was given. They asked me to arrive at least 15 minutes before my appointment time. This was only so they could have me watch this video that basically said all Americans are lazy and live unhealthy lifestyles. This video stated that in order to keep your body healthy you need to get chiropractic adjustments and massages often and on a regular basis to stay healthy. That might be true for some people, but it's a huge generalization and I found it quite rude honestly. I do yoga 5-7 days a week, that keeps me healthy and keeps my spine aligned, not massages and chiropractic work. I get massages to work out the kinks and because, who doesn't like a massage every now and then?? Really lame business advertising. They should stop this and instead do an in person consultation to get to know each client more personally before making assumptions on how they live or what their needs are. read more
