For health reasons, I had to go Gluten-Free (GF), and the only GF pizza I could find was frozen in a "Big Box" store, until a friend said, "Vocelli Pizza in Germantown, MD, has Gluten-Free pizza", and highly recommended I go there. I am now truly thankful for his recommendation, and, HAPPY, DELIGHTED, and SATISFIED, I went directly to Vocelli Pizza after it. I opened the door and smelled fresh dough & pizza, then was warmly greeted & was treated like a king as the worker answered all my questions before taking my order. I ordered a Gluten-Free veggie (no mushrooms) & cheese pizza. I was able to sit and watch my pizza being made step by step. The waiting area was small, but the aroma was BIG and impeccably delicious. I waited while my pizza was cooking and read about the FRESH ingredients, special sauce, and passion that are put into each Vocelli pizza. I was rewarded with a presentation of my hot pizza for inspection & approval for patiently waiting and for my pizza, made with TLC. Before the box was closed & I paid, I was able to savor & delight in the appearance and delicious aroma of my freshly made GF Veggie & Cheese Pizza. The pizza dough has a decent texture (just enough chew) and the sauce is on the sweeter side (or at least it is to me). tl;dr Ordered a small cheese pizza with pepperoni and mushroom, and it was the best decision for a late-night second dinner. I was just hanging out and watching The Bachelor (haha), and really craved pizza--this place was still open and delivers! (You just have to order by 10:45.) The small pizza was perfect for two people and we crushed it. The pepperoni they use is the mini kind (about an inch in diameter) and the mushrooms are called "fresh mushrooms" on the menu. Over the years I've found Vocelli to be pretty good, consistent delivery pizza. I rarely order pizza, but know what I like from this place. I've always liked their pepperoni and enjoy their meatball topping. We received our delivery in the promised time frame and proceeded to open those boxes and feed the hungry kids. Once I finally bit into my slice of a neopolitan meatball pizza, I realized it wasn't meatball at all, but sausage. I was annoyed, but not upset. I called, and calmly explained the issue. Vocelli's was the 2nd Pizza place we tried after moving to Maryland. We ended up trying a few others over the past five years. But Vocelli's is always near the top of the list. With pizza consuming teenagers how do you tell they like a place? It is one of the first two or three places mentioned when they are asked. What do you want for dinner tonight? Are we ordering in? Yes. Ok, I want Pizza. Ok, Pizza it is, where? Vocelli's. Overall their pizza is excellent. Crust - not overly thin Sauce - nice with a little tang! Toppings generous, but not so much that the pizza is greasy. The only reason for them not getting a five is that at best their chicken wings are average to mediocre. I am a long term customer of Vocelli Germantown. The quality of pizza and service use to be top notch; however, most recently, my experiences with them no longer reflect this. I ordered a pizza a month ago and the bacon on it was severely burnt and pizza was inedible. I called was told something was wrong with their oven, didn't make a big fuss and was offered a credit for a free pizza towards a future order. Called back tonight to place a delivery order and was told that nothing for a free pizza was noted under my phone number. Fine. Again, being a long term customer, I let it go and ordered $50 worth of pizza for my family. I opened up the box of pizza and AGAIN got BURNT BACON on a pizza. This time I called back and was not as understanding as before. The manager was not willing to issue me a refund for the burnt pizza. He said in order to do so, we would need to bring the pizza back. He did offer to make a new pizza and deliver it; however, I declined as my family was not going to wait yet another 45 mins for pizza. Opened up the box of Vocelli rolls, also burnt bacon. Sad to say that I am parting ways with Vocelli due to their unwillingness to resolve concerns to their customer's satisfaction and cause I don't have time to pay for pizza and then have to scrape burnt bacon off of it or just throw it in the trash. read more

Pros: Their pizza toppings are tasty and good quality. Also, don't leave Vocelli's without trying their cheesy bread. Cons: I wasn't moved by the sauce on the pizza. It wasn't particularly flavorful and it also had a lot of tomato skins in it. I personally like a smoother, richer sauce without the skins. Bottom Line: If you're looking for the best, I wouldn't give them that title. The pizza is good. The staff, however, could use some work...(hence, the low star rating.) The new kid that they have out at the counter... yeah, he's weird. I'm not saying that to be mean, but something looks genuinely off with that kid, like he might snap any minute or something. They should probably not have him in a customer-facing position. In addition to coming off as if he really doesn't care whether you order or not, he also has no idea how to use the register and he does not know how to talk to customers. They staff that come to help him look visibly annoyed at having to help him. No one offered a "sorry about that" or a "he's new". Just grumbled, sucked their teeth, did what needed to be done on the register, and returned to the back of the restaurant. The kid at the register either misquoted or overcharged me for dipping sauces (which are terrible by the way... don't waste your money). I asked for three but only got two. I came back in to get my third one and he told me that they were 75 cents a piece, and that's why I'd gotten two. Not even a full 60 seconds earlier, he told me they were 50 cents. I asked him why there was a different in price and he exasperatedly grumbles "I said it was either 50 or 75 cents! I wasn't sure!" I know what he told me and that is not what was said. I'm totally ok with a mistake; they happen. But getting snippy with a customer because you don't know your product, and don't know your job well enough to look it up in the damn computer... not my problem. My time was way too valuable to argue with this obviously unstable kid about a 50 cent sauce (and a nasty sauce, at that), but that exchange just cost them a customer. Like I said, the pizza here is good, but you know what? So are the pizzas at Dominos, Papa Johns, &pizza, Paisanos, Ledo's, and even Costco, all of which are a short drive from this location. Vocelli's is not the only game in town, and they had best make sure their staff is fully aware of that. BEST PIZZA IN GERMANTOWN... HANDS DOWN... Call me crazy but this pizza reminds me of the old-school (I am talking 20+ years ago) Chuckie Cheeses pizza before they changed their recipe. Maybe it is the 100% mozzarella cheese or the yummy (not TOOO SALTY or seasoned) crust.... Whatever it is... this is my GO TO spot in Germantown. Consider the fact that from order to delivery I usually get my pizza in 20 minutes or less (90% of the time it takes 15 minutes)... this place is AMAZING. They DID get my order wrong one time that I called in, so I suggest online ordering if you can (never had a problem with this). HOWEVER, the reason I still give them 5 stars is because when we called to tell them they put chicken instead of bacon on the pizza, the guy said he rememebered I ordered bacon and apologized for the mistake and then they brought us a whole new pizza in about 10-15 minutes free of charge (GREAT SERVICE)!!! 3 pizzas for the price of ONE (since I Had already used their buy one pizza get one of equal or lesser value free coupon)... If you sign up for their emails they send out deals all the time... AND, they just had a groupon or living social deal for $20 for the price of $10 so I am super siced to use that! :-) Pizza is always delivered QUICKLY and VERY HOT... and the quality is a million times better than papa johns, pizza hut, and dominoes.
