    Southside Veterinary Clinic

    Southside

Cold, Disrespectful, Nasty and Completely Unprofessional…read more We brought our dog to Southside Veterinary Clinic for what became an end-of-life visit. This was one of the most emotionally painful moments of our lives, and the way this clinic handled it was cold, careless, and deeply unprofessional. The space is extremely small and offers no privacy. While we were visibly crying and trying to process what was happening, doors were opening, people were walking in and out, and staff members moved around as if nothing significant was happening. There was no attempt to provide a private, respectful environment. No sensitivity. No acknowledgment of the gravity of the situation. This alone shows a serious lack of training and basic empathy. Afterward, we paid for cremation services and were told we would be contacted. Weeks passed with absolutely no communication -- no phone call, no email, no update. We were left waiting with no idea what was going on. When I finally called to follow up, I was met with a series of excuses: that they had already contacted us, that they had emailed us, and then that they had the wrong email address. These explanations contradicted each other. Later that same day, they suddenly managed to send information to the very email they claimed they could not reach before. This felt dishonest and careless, especially given the emotional weight of the situation. The phone interaction itself was unacceptable. One staff member was defensive and dismissive, and when another person took over the call, the tone was openly rude. When I went in person and asked to speak with the doctor, I was brushed off and told everything would be sent by email instead. The message was clear: they were not interested in addressing concerns or taking responsibility. After reading other reviews, it is obvious this is not an isolated experience. Multiple people describe similarly poor handling of end-of-life situations. That is alarming. A veterinary clinic should be a place of compassion, dignity, and professionalism -- especially when families are saying goodbye to a loved one. This clinic consistently fails at that. There is a difference between being inexpensive and being careless. This clinic may offer lower prices, but the quality of care, communication, and human compassion reflects that. When it comes to moments like this, the cost is not measured in money -- it is measured in how you are treated when you are at your most vulnerable. If you truly care about your pet and expect to be treated with basic respect during one of the hardest days of your life, I strongly recommend you look elsewhere and stay away from nasty people with nasty attitudes that they know how to take your money, but not responsibility.

City View Animal Hospital - Items I crossed out because I was not going to be paying for half of this stuff. What a wack way to fluff the bill.

When I finally took him in, I was presented with a $400 vet bill for his NEUTER. They had medication on the bill that they don't even give to cat, so when I asked about it, they took it off and stated "I don't know why that's on there, we don't provide the cats with that." There were more items on there that did NOT need to be. Aka a cat surgery vest for him to recover... HIS BALLS ARE BEING REMOVED (he doesn't need a vest.) This is clearly how they fluff the bill up to make more money off each procedure. Picked up my kitten and told me they gave him medication to keep the pain away (which is fine, I would have said to give it to him.) BUT THEY DIDNT EVEN CALL ME TO ASK ME IF THEY CAN ADMINISTER THAT TO HIM, they just did it and expected me to pay it. Which again, I did pay for it and I would have said yes to give it to him but if I'm PAYING for a procedure I'd like to be looped into whatever else is being put on his bill so I can prepare myself for this payment. Long story long, I would 12/10 NOT recommended this place. A blind hobo can find a pair of cat balls and remove them better than this place. Probably could communicate more efficiently than them as well. I'm extremely upset this is where I decided to take my pet. Will not be returning.

Last week, after our longtime vet left the country for a much-needed vacay, our orange tabby gal (Blossom) became very ill. Prior to our vet's departure, she treated Blossom's troubling ambulatory issues. All seemed to be going well--at least until Blossom developed some worrisome respiratory symptoms. PARC did a great job caring for our eldest super senior cat, Druscilla, who had an health scare during our vet's last vacation in October 2024. Dr. Melanie Aschenberg did a fantastic job with Druscilla. She explained her treatment protocol and was very understanding. The vet tech was also wonderful with Dru, so we knew we had to contact PARC again. Just like the time prior, PARC staff were incredibly professional, accommodating, and understanding: from Alyssa (sp?) who accepted our intake call, to Cheryl (sp?) the vet tech, and to Dr. John Strohneyer, who was extremely professional, informative. He was really great with Blossom (who can be terribly skittish). Dr. Strohmeyer thoroughly evaluated Blossom and explained his diagnosis, prognosis and treatment plan. He also informed us of available options so that we could make informed decisions. Once again, PARC provided our cat exceptional care. If you're looking for great pet health care, I enthusiastically recommend PARC.

A completely empty ER, the Dr just standing around with his hands in his pockets for almost 40 minutes. Do they think we can't see what they're doing with all the transparent glass? Came in around 12am for an emergency visit, wasn't shown a room for the first 20 minutes till I brought it up twice, as I can physically see them just standing around. Dr then threatened to call the cops cause I took his picture when I asked what was taking so long to be seen. I left after 40 minutes and went to a different er where my cat was seen immediately. They call themselves a "hospital" which is a joke to call this any kind of hospital. Refused to give me his name and his license as is required in the state of Texas. Dr Rizwan Shazad more like Dr Death. Stands around with his hands in his pockets like this almost permenantly it seems as I arrived at 12, and left at 130. When I asked for his name at the front counter, he came up to the counter after I got his name and threatened to have me arrested cause I took a picture of him. Stay away from this place, for the prices they charge, go to a more professional ER.
