I've been going to this salon for almost two years but wont be returning after yesterday's visit. I asked for a dip (black) manicure with almond shape and the nail tech showed signs of struggle from the moment she put my tips on. She grinded indents into my nails where the tips were glued on, she couldn't shape them, the dip was done so sloppy that it took her over an hour to smooth the surface, ended up having another nail tech step in because she was having such a hard time (I asked if she was new, she said no and that she'd done this many times), then my nails were so thin that you could see my nail through what was left of the dip so I ended up having to ask her to paint them black. Awful experience, nails took almost THREE hours for a simple black dip. Then they still uncharged me for the nail shaping. Horrible salon, most don't know what they're doing. read more

This is after my second visit. I got a full set the first time and pedi. This time I got a full and pedi for 2 adults and for a child. The quality of nail service was just ok. Hardly any massaging, acrylic very thick on the nails even though I asked for it to be thinned out, everybody in there is in a rush to get to the next customer, they charge for every little thing, and they just do things without asking what you want- cut down, shape of nails, etc. The place is ok... chairs and stations are quite close and the workers are constantly talking across the floor at each other and customers are sometimes having full on conversations on speaker during the pedicure. I came here to get my acrylic nails taken off. I was seen right away and noticed the salon was incredibly clean and nicely decorated. I've been to so many places where they rush the process of taking off acrylics and it hurts and damages the nails, but the man that did it was so careful and took his time. Today, I went in for a pedicure. I asked for the Hollywood which includes paraben wax and hot stone massage. Upon receiving the hot stone massage... I started feeling a burning sensation on my left leg. After she had finished rubbing the stone in circular motions across my calf I looked down to see large welts that had a shiny appearance, and very painful. She applied alcohol on my leg after I told her how my leg felt and as if I just placed it on a hot oven... The alcohol burned very badly. She asked me if I had Aloe Vera, that Aloe Vera was good for burns. She finished the pedicure and proceeded to check out to hand me a bill. I asked the pedicurist to speak with the owner, which she said is out of town, which then I asked to speak to the manager. She left to go find the manager and came back to tell me the manager was doing nails in the back and couldn't come up to speak with me. (Manager was well aware of situation when situation occurred at pedicure chair, and didn't come see me at front desk when asked.) The receptionist then proceeded to hand me the bill. I told her I would not be paying a bill when I had been burned during my service. The receptionist agreed and I told her she needs to get the manager to come out to speak with me. (Asked for manager twice at this point) Receptionist went back to her manager, came back to tell me the manager would come to the front in about 5 minutes. I waited in the front for 15 minutes, for her to come up and tell me I needed to pay for my service, and if I had medical services to pay for they would deduct it from my bill at a later point in time. I firmly looked her into the eyes and told her this is a lawsuit if I wanted to make it happen. With the addition of speech " If a client of an unlicensed professional suffered burns while receiving a hot stone massage this is a lawsuit reliable for my burns at your establishment." After I explained that to her I asked for the owners name and number which she didn't want to give me- giving me her name and telling me the owner was out of town. I left VK nails in shock how they handled the situation. The nail salon wanted me to pay for first degrees burns that had happened on site. I have documented all information and will be contacting the owner immediately. read more

My friend and I LOVE to get a good pedi, and get a little spoiled. This place did not disappoint! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by staff and asked what you are getting done today. Once you have decided on what services you will get, you are led to the area and they get to work! We got the Super Deluxe Pedicure, which consists of: Sugar scrub, mud mask, callus remover, paraffin wax, hot towels, and polish. All the while you are sitting in these luxurious massage chairs sipping wine. YES...wine; red or white, water, soda, champagne,...your choice of beverage. The staff is very friendly, chatting with you off and on, always checking if you are alright, or if they can get you anything. I felt comfortable and happy with the end result. I walked in and was seated then moved about 3-4 times from each chair until i was placed in my own chair .. then minded my business let the guy do my pedicure but he cut me several times and scraped my entire foot to where I'm still in discomfort and although I'm sure he didn't mean to.. How many nail and spa shops are there around town? Too many to count, right? I can count on one hand the amount of times I've been. This is to go without saying, I've never thought to myself, "John, you should go treat yo'self and get your hands and/or feet taken care of". There was one occasion I surprised my wife with a mani/pedi day and I accompanied her during that outing. A point of reference, any husband looking for an opportunity to fill up your spouses love bank, take her to get pampered, trust me, she'll appreciate it. I'd like to also add to get one for yourself, I'll explain why. *Fluff How did I get in a massage chair with "Mary" placing my feet in water? Why am I deciding whether I want my toenails filed rounded? Champagne, water, a snack? I blame Jacqueline! The woman is slick, she's my Eve for good reason. I was bamboozled sadly, I was under the impression the "surprise" she had in store was a lunch spot we'd bookmarked and was finally going to try together. Sike!! She hit me with the okie doke! After finding out she wasn't joking around, we both walked in and was seated in our chairs promptly. *Experience I was a bundle of mixed emotions - nervous (I only tend to my feet), disappointed (I thought food was on the agenda), intrigued (new experience, why not give it a try). The massage chair initially eased me into the pampering process. I was offered a menu for drinks and other refreshments but opted to observe what was going on. The brave and willing soul that worked with me was "Mary". You're probably wondering why the quotes, I've been told at nail and spa shops, employees use names that are easier to pronounce as oppose to their given name. She made me feel comfortable about being there and talking me through the process. My feet hadn't been properly cared for, this was based on the expressions on "Mary" face. As an active runner, I hadn't been doing my feet any justice by not treating them to some TLC. I knew I was going to start making this a routine when a power tool was pulled out! A bloody power tool, for heavens sake, just order me a new pair of size 12 feet, thanks! *sheds tear My nails were cut, hang nails cut/trimmed, toes washed, feet scrubbed and massaged. After all of that heavy lifting, they were placed in warm water to soak. Once the soaking process was complete, I received a hot stone massage on my legs and a scrub/lotion thereafter. Why didn't anyone tell me about hot stones and how amazing they feel? Why wasn't I informed about the scrub and lotion treatment? Is this what happens at these shops? I should've been "surprised" loooong time ago! Thanks honey. *Overall Note: For anyone whose constantly on their feet, run/walk or just need to treat yo'self, I fully advise you to come here! I received a basic manicure that took basically an hour from start to finish without a hand massage. The tech kept getting up and taking phone calls during my entire service and cut my nails too short and filed them down so much it hurt. My favorite part was how he kept telling me how wonderful and talented he was, but I did not even receive a basic hand massage, which is included in most basic manicure services, which professionals understand. I would recommend that for $16 for a basic manicure, no gel, no acrylic, you do at least a hand massage and not hurt your guest. I will stick to going to my area of town that for less money will do a faster service, and give you a hand massage at least :-)... as I spent $16 on a basic polish change. read more

The only reason it's 4 stars is because my nail is crooked and the guy doing my nails didn't do my cuticle or file the nail of my right hand down. Also he didn't even get any of the stuff out he just slapped the acrylic on top of my actual now. Also because it was busy and I was one of the last people that guy did my nail while I was sitting in the pedicure chair which is also probably why I didn't get quality nails. Beautiful new nail salon in the Five Points area, I plan to call my own new close-to-home walk-in pedicure place. Not at all busy on a weekday afternoon, and fortunately we had technicians just waiting on us. Unlike most places where you choose a color from a wall display of multiple bottled polishes, VK gives you the array of colors on fingernail palates to select from. Many other salons have these plastic fingers with nail colors for gel colors, but for a regular pedicure you usually still have to pick from the bottles. I like this much more because I think it gives you a better indication of what the finish polish is going to look like as opposed to looking through the bottle. I am often challenged to find the color I like and when I find it, I never know if the color is going to be sheer, sparkly, or matte finish from looking at the bottle. Also you can already have your feet soaking in the super clean, and plastic lined, foot tub while you peruse your many, many options. Once you make a selection, the technician gets the color from the shelf for you by the corresponding number. Typically I go with the no-frills basic pedicure, but on this visit my friend and I felt like getting some extra pampering, so we selected the super deluxe pedicure.This option includes scented foot masks, hot stone massage, hot wax for softening those rough spots, and a little extra massage. Even with the extras, the process felt a tad bit rushed, but we still enjoyed the experience very much. A complimentary beverage is also a nice touch. We selected red wine, and while it was chilled, sweet, red wine, we still enjoyed the refreshment. If you need more, you can always step next door to MShack for a wine, beer, or cocktail before or after your visit, or why not both. Overall I do the ambiance, the fresh clean look, and the overall experience at VK nails is heavenly. We will be back. read more

I was excited to try this place after seeing what great reviews they had, but was disappointed with the level of service, and the quality of my manicure. My main complaints were, 1) While the lady was in the middle of doing my pedicure, one of the other employees came over and held up their phone so she could FaceTime with someone. Well, that's a first. 2) The guy who did my manicure trimmed my cuticles THREE times. I had been to the nail salon only two weeks ago, so that much attention to them was overkill. They are now jagged and uneven. 3) At the end of my manicure, there were bits of nail polish on my skin around my nails that he hadn't bothered to remove. I asked him to, and he removed some of it but not all. I didn't bother asking again. Again, very disappointing experience and definitely won't be going back. 2 stars because my pedicure was decent. read more
