It has been years since I actually went inside the actual mall at Gurnee Mills, but in my younger years it was the place to hang. So, deep down I knew better than to be drawn in but years without mall exposure left me vulnerable to mall grift. I was suckered in and treated to a high pressure sales situation that was very uncomfortable. It went from overpriced skincare to red light therapy devices that they wanted thousands of dollars for. The sales people were very skilled at their craft, but I hate being pressured to do anything, let alone spend money. I would advise anyone to stay away and not be sucked in by free samples. I clicked on it and registered, thinking I was coming just for a facial, only to find out that they were trying to sell me a red light device for acne. I had to run to Sephora to get cleaning supplies to wash the exfoliator off. He talked and talked to the point that he spat on my face. I went there Tuesday September 16th 2025 because I was looking to get a facial done amd an Ad popped up on fb about a special they sopposedly had! I made an appointment because it stated it was a less invasive treatment than a microneedling which I was really thinking on doing! Worst experience ever, I do not recommend!!! I had a 12 pm appointment, which I confirmed 4 times ( 2 x today). I arrived early and no one was there. I waited another 10 minutes and called their customer support center who told me they had another issue. The salon had no one in it, no staff at all. I went back an hour later and they told me on Sunday, they open at 12:30/1pm. So I was lied to and wasted the 1.5 hrs to drive up and back. Then thy only opening was 4pm. I'm a bit confused if this was an educational course because I did learn how to successfully bully someone into buying skin care. 1. Free sample: I came into this shop because they offered me a sample of skin care. I said no, but they proceeded to tell me "Please". One thing I learned from this is that I will no longer be humble. If you are in need, I do not care. 2. Belittling: Such a great tactic to make someone feel unworthy of having something to the point they buy it. Calling me poor when I'm just 23 and barely starting my career is crazy. Plus, when I did buy the products, they didn't even thank me or make eye contact because they were mad that I did not want to buy a $7K machine. 3. Lying: They will constantly offer you a lower price and say, "Please do not tell people I want to sell you this for $699. oops, just did. On top of that, they will take a before and after picture, but will take 1 minute to take the picture? Are you increasing and decreasing the exposure queen? 4. Free facial with a purchase: LMFAO This one is crazy, and this one is for the history books. They will rub stuff on your face so you can't leave, and then explain how the machine is effective and if you can buy it from them. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A FACIAL. When they did end up wiping stuff off my face, they explained that it was dirty. That's just my $38 sunscreen. 5. Traveling: These girls are talking about how they travel every month to different locations. Strongly DO NOT recommend! I booked last minute due to an advertised special that kept popping up on social media. I should have checked the reviews, Big mistake on my end. The Staff are friendly but Beware this is a Not a real facial, it is a sales pitch for a LED device they sell. I arrived for a 60 minute facial, or so I thought. It advertised 15 minutes for facial skin cleansing, with 30 minute facial and 15 minute consultation. It was none of that. Horrible store. They are scammers and particularly like to target the Navy Sailors when they get liberty. They are extremely pushy with them and when they get someone to buy something, they charge way more than the price of what was purchased. I let the employee put the cream on my eye in order to keep her away from my Sailor. This employ was extremely insulting. She actually said to me "why do you not use any face cream? Is it because you are too busy or too lazy"... not exactly the customer service you would expect from a place that charges such a high price. Typical sleazy sales practice. Young girl (sales employee of this company) to convinces a young guy (my nephew) to allow her to apply a skin product. She THEN convinces him to give her his debit card for a "299" charge for a couple of products (he's thinking $2.99...kid is young and works at Walmart part-time...has no money to spare). She then charges his debit card $323.99 and hands him a small bag with 3 small product boxes. She didn't even give him a receipt...he confirmed the charge on his bank app and is horrified at what just happened. When I hear about this I went to the store where they grudgingly print a receipt which states "all sales are final" and give him a form to fill out to communicate with the company. I left a very angry message and received a call back today from the "company". Bottom-line? She took the order no. and said she'd be speaking with the store so that this "doesn't happen again". Of course no offer to accept the products back or consider a refund. Meanwhile, an innocent kid (with porcelain skin who obviously doesn't need skin care products has to absorb the financial loss and have to deal with being victimized.
