I got the best spray tan at Cabo Tan in Libertyville!…read more This was the fourth place I tried after trying to find my new go to place. I wanted somewhere that was reasonably priced, easy to get into, provided a good color and sprayed by hand vs a machine. I used to go to another place in Mundelein that was also a hair salon but getting an apt was always so difficult but they did offer a spray by hand. However, the last few times I tried to go I couldn't get it. So I tried another place where the woman would come to your house but I didn't like the tan (could barley see anything) and it was so pricey. Then I tried LA Tan and I came out looking like I just went to the Jersey Shore. So I've finally found my place- Cabo Tan!!!!The owner is very sweet & helpful. The tan itself was literally the best I've ever had. I looked perfectly tan and it lasted the entire trip even after spending four days in the ocean. I've been going to LA Tans in the Chicagoland area for the last 10 years and this location is…read moreprobably the most rundown (even though they did "renovations" earlier in the year). The level III beds are the same beds they used when I started tanning in 2007, and most of them do not even work properly: buttons missing, facial lights not shutting off properly when you manually turn the switch to avoid burning, the tops come down further than they should, cracks in the beds, and bed 16 doesn't even have a fan on the bed - I honestly felt like I was in a death trap! I also can't even tell you how many times I've walked into tan at this location only to be told that their "system was down". Ugh. Don't even get me started on how dirty the fans and beds are at times. I will give this place 3 stars due to their customer service being so great, however, I would highly suggest updating their beds sometime in the near future.

I'd like to start this off by saying that when I first moved to the area a handful of years ago,…read morethe reviews and ratings of this place were... not great. In fact, they were SO not great that neither my partner nor best friend would accompany me on my first visit. And the reviews weren't wrong. ANYWAY- that was then and this is NOW. In a Covid-19 ravaged world, public spaces (let alone salons!) endanger Americans' wellbeing simply by stepping outside. This public health crisis has become a mental health crisis as well, as feelings of depression and isolation grip our family and neighbors' minds. However on a whim, I decided to visit the LA Tan on Milwaukee one afternoon- that same LA Tan that left me needing (and wanting) more... needing better, so many years ago. Remember when you were little? When the knight in shining armor swooped in on a powerful and galumphing stallion, JUST in time to save the day- remember that? Well in a glorious manifestation of Life Imitating Art, our knight arrived vis-a-vis new ownership, and the stallion he brought? Oh that stallion was none other than the nothing-short-of-brilliant Christine. "But WHO is this Christine??" the readers implored, scratching their heads. Glad you asked. Christine is the vivacious and bubbly manager of both the Palatine AND the Libertyville locations, and she was brought in to kick ass and take names. And by ass I mean 'bad habits to the curb', and by take names I mean 'curate an exemplary experience within your local bronzed-skin factory'. Christine immediately went to work hiring the right people for the job- I don't know if they arrived in the box perfect or if she worked with them to help cultivate an ideal skill set for this role, but she done did it. Which brings me to my final point. Sam. Sam, Sammie, or Samantha, this rose could *literally* go by any other name while her customer service, stellar representation of a professional brand, AND overall knowledge would be just as great as this sentence is long. And trust me- I have worked in tanning salons before on the East coast. Sam not only spoke with me knowledgeably about products and best practices to help maximize a healthy result from my time at LA*T, she left me glowing from this whole sitch. A friendly, well-informed, helpful, and smiling face is always what employers hope for in their outward-facing roles, and gosh darnit if Christine didn't strike gold with Sam! In conclusion- tanning IS cheaper than therapy, but don't go to just ANY old tanning salon... come to LA Tan on Milwaukee in Libertyville. You won't be disappointed!

We had the BEST experience here! I have been going here for years and it's always been nice. The beds are great but the customers service and people who work at the front are not always the friendliest.. last weekend was prom for my daughter. I called last minute and asked if they could do a spray tan for my daughter: Cara and was beyond amazing! she said no one was there to do it but she would wait for me to get there and take care of us! She waited even though she was technically off, she waited to help my anxious daughter, to do her spray tan! She was as so friendly to my daughter, answered all her questions, talked her through it and what to do! She made this experience the best for my daughter! She was awesome and so sweet!! The sweets person I have ever met working here! I hope she stays and they keep her because she is great! She is always smiling and asks how you are doing! Her customer service is the best! To the manager: give her a raise! She saved me and stayed to do my daughter's spray tan! At prom the next day she got so many compliments and my daughter told everyone to go see Cara at tropical tan! Thank you so much sweet girl for making my daughter's prom so special and being so sweet to her!! read more

Hands down the BEST tanning salon I've EVER been too!!!! This salon is beautiful right when you walk through the doors, spotless and clean, and smells refreshing throughout the entire building. Truly amazed with how friendly the staff is here at tropical tan, and how knowledgeable they all are. All my questions were answered with no hesitation and I was even recommended certain things which I was very happy about!! The prices here are absolutely amazing, especially for the awesome quality of the beds. These beds are new, the bulbs are strong and do their job, tropical tan offers the best tanning service, period!! There are tons of different options to chose from, they always have unbeatable deals and specials going on, and I absolutely love how they have lotion to moisturize, hair ties, body spray for men and women, and little perfumes and colognes, down to mints in every single room. Tropical tan truly does go the extra mile for their guests!! I will never take my business anywhere else, and I will always recommend tropical tan! :) :) read more

First and foremost, I just want to say thank you to my daughter for referring me here! My daughter came home one day with radiant, glowing, bronzed skin, and I simply asked her what product she used because I was astonished at how even her skin tone was and how incredibly natural and pretty her skin looked. She laughed at me and told me she didn't use any drug store product and I sure wasn't surprised. She told me she tans in the beds here at tropical tan! And she gets a spray tan in their versa spa spray tanning system at least twice a month. I had to see this for my own eyes, so I myself went and got a spray tan in the versa spa on the highest level and I was more then impressed! Never in my over 20 years of tanning experience have I ever experienced such a friendly staff, and an amazing spray tan that doesn't turn me orange and doesn't leave an uneven tone. I was perfectly bronzed and it fades gradually not just in certain spots. I will refer everyone here what a wonderful establishment!!!! read more

i used to be employed here and it was one of the worst run establishments i have ever worked at. the owner only cares about making money rather than the safety of us young and vulnerable girls who worked alone, as we were constantly dealing with creepy men, drug addicts, and rude clients until 11pm at night (sometimes past then, because of his no last tan time rule and i always felt threatened if i didn't let someone tan 5 minutes before close) and felt that i would have been reprimanded if i denied anyone coming in that late. when myself and other girls quit at the same time, he refused to give us our commission that we had earned on our paychecks and decides to ban us for quitting rather than ban the perverted men or drug addicts that we constantly had to worry about dealing with, because he only cares about his money and ego. coming from a former employe, take your business anywhere else but here! read more

Definitely the best place in the area to go tanning at! The owner and staff pride themselves in giving the best customer service with the most up to date beds there are! The prices are the best, and the daily specials are great! As long as you go in on the day of the daily special, you can buy as many as you want and use them whenever you want which is nice because every other salon that has specials are that day only. Their social media approach is an awesome reminder of prices and specials that they have going on, I follow them on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and snapchat. I've been going to tropical tan for over a year now & have never been disappointed! Totally thought I had already left a review for my favorite tanning spot, but here we go! Tropical Tan has exceed every one of my expectations! You're not use to getting such great customer service from a tanning salon. I was use to the "last name, you're all set" greeting. Now I get a "Hi, how are you today" which is so refreshing! No high pressure sales girls and not pushy on lotions at all. They do offer it and give you a great deal (50% off) when you have a package. Since I've been tanning here, they've added some new lay down beds (level 4 & level 6) which are amazing! That level 6, they call it Punta Cana (cheesy but works with the Tropical Tan name) gave me some amazing color today!! read more

Seriously...love this place times a gazillion. The staff is super friendly, the beds are clean and they always seem to have the most up-to-date technology. I'm obsessed with their high-pressure bed as well as the Versa Spa that moisturizes you while you spray-tan. So freaking cool. They seem to really go the extra mile for their customers...down to providing lotion, hair-ties, and little extras in every room. The fact that they have $5 tan days, $10 versa-spa days, etc. is also pretty sweet. If I could give this place 10/5 stars I would! Highly recommended! :) read more
