Same awful customer service. if you call for troubleshooting or help on your system, all they wanna do is sell you an upgrade. I even pay nine dollars extra a month and you have to beg them to come out and look at your equipment and they usually won't do not use this company. read more

Their products never ever work. They expect you to be able to fix and rewire them on your own, If you ever need anyone to come out and fix something they will charge you a 99 dollar service fee to fix their broken equipment. Within 1 year of service we have had NUMEROUS issues, in fact, I don't think there is a single piece of their equipment that has not malfunctioned. If we did not already pay for this equipment I would end our contract immediately. Please choose a different security service, I have a hard time believing any service would be worse read more

I'd give this business a 0 star rating if I could. Horrible customer service. The cost for cameras and sensors is over the top, rediculous. I would not recommend them at all. If you try to cancel service, you have to go through a load of steps just the cancel and then they make you wait 30+ days to actual cancel then charge you more money cause they took that long to cancel your service. Vivint is a corrupt joke of a business. Buyers beware..... read more

TERRIBLE HOME SECURITY COMPANY. Their equipment is trash. I have only had the equipment for A YEAR. And I have had numerous issues. Wires snapped, broken deadbolt, cameras shut off and the light captures are off, the water sensors and fire sensors go off randomly. You have to call them and they try to "walk you through" fixing the equipment. I only call Vivint when I can't figure it out. To get a technician out you have to threaten to cancel your membership for them to help. Do not spend your money with this TRASH company. Spend your thousands of dollars elsewhere. What a let down. read more

We have had Vivint since 2012. While they may be good at contacting the police with an alarm... they are very poor at customer service. Today might be the straw that breaks the camel's back. We agreed to another year at $29.99 per month. We were billed $49.99. I spoke with two people in two departments, spent over 40 minutes on hold...and, nearly two hours later, the issue is not resolved. Last month they came out and upgraded our panel.... and it degraded another panel they are telling me can't be fixed. read more

Hey, I liked them when I used their system. But then we moved and I found out that I not only had paid for my system, which I knew, but that they would charge me another $650 to cancel my service, which I already had paid for for 5 years. After setting everything up with one representative, I was transferred to the "Loyalty Department," which is were they do everything to not instill loyalty, but rather make you feel like you got scammed. If the company had paid for the equipment, or even the install, I would understand that they want you to use the service for a certain amount of time. But I paid for both. So, I am sorry, but this is not right! read more

While I was away, a Vivint salesperson pressured my wife into purchasing an alarm system. When I returned it was after the date it could be legally returned/uninstalled. We still have never used it. They told my wife that she had to purchase it right then, and that they would not wait for me to return. Had I been home I would not have purchased this system and I am very angry that they used this high pressure sales and scare tactics to sell this system to my wife. I am just fed up with them after all of the runaround they have given me and I want them to cancel my contract. I am mailing their unit back to them tomorrow. That was the worst customer service I have ever had. I contacted them today and told them that I was giving them verbal notice that I was canceling the service and mailing them back their unit. What a horrible company. I would NEVER recommend them! That was the worst experience I have ever had with any customer service. i actually found myself despising them. read more

We have 5 accounts through this company. Decided to cancel after being promised free upgrades only to be told later that each upgrade would be $800. Changed services in June. They only cancelled 1 account. Was charged for 4 in July. Sent email as per their instructions to cancel accounts. August was charged for 3 accounts. Was told that 1 account was cancelled so only had 2 accounts active. Sent cancellation requests for them. Was charged for 3 accounts again in September. It is complete garbage to say that it will take 30 days for a cancellation in this day and age of computer technology. I am still waiting for my cancellations to process. I would like to get my money back for all of this billing that we paid for as well! Totally a rip off! read more

We had Vivint for about 15 years and until we were moving and canceling I would have given them a 3* rating. We had some issues with the setup that impact us with 2 breakings. 1. A window alarm set with a delay and the side garage door never being put into the system. All and all both pretty bad but the did do good monitoring and calls to police for other things. Now get to where we wanted to cancel as we were moving out of state. I called in March saying I wanted to cancel April 30th. No issues just some pressure to buy at the new place but we got beyond that. I was required to send a note saying I wanted to cancel and I again gave the date in the note as April 30th. Low and behold on April 17th our service was canceled. It seems that Vivant's policy is 30 days after you call you are done. NO ON EXPLAINED THIS OR SAID word on this or I would have waited to call on March 30th. Vivant gave me 2 options even after I pushed. 1. Pay for a service call to restart the Alarm system and then the 30 day window starts again that day. Really you need a service call to restart. Give me a break. 2. Live with it. I chose 2 and promised I would write a review. read more

We've had Vivint in our home since 2013 . We are constantly traveling and it's so convenient to be able to also double check if we've secured the home from anywhere . Before Vivint we just had a basic adt alarm where you need to punch a key into keypad now my husband and I just use our iPhones to turn our alarm on and off . read more

Do your home work! A quick search of the Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry (https://secure.doli.state.mn.us/lookup/licensing.aspx) shows 2 licenses (TS001618 & MB648213) issued just this year so I would imagine people to start seeing more of these guys... Also know that Vivint is apparently the re-branding of the former home security company APX. James A (Badge #58369) was the young salesmen who showed up to our door at 9:30pm (far too late if you ask me). Right away he started his script about how we had been specially selected to receive a free alarm system just for placing the Vivint sign in our front yard. I knew right away this was BS as confirmed by my later google searches and a BBB complaint here; http://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/burglar-alarm-systems-dealers-monitoring-and-service/vivint-in-provo-ut-4002276 which states one of the complaints "4) falsely represented that consumers have been specially selected to receive the Defendant's services for free in exchange for displaying the Defendant's sign" He eventually worked his away inside our home after 15 minutes of selling, I didn't really protest because honestly we had been interested in an alarm system for some time now and I was mildly curious. I really appreciate the work some salesmen do but honestly it doesn't do much for me, either I'm interested or I'm not and if I am interested I'd rather save you and myself the time and just get down to brass tax. I actually told him flat out, it's late but I'm interested so just tell me how much. Again he went into another 15 minute sale of everything like $2,000 worth of equipment! Before he ever offered up any of the details that mattered. He never once offered up the points that mattered himself until I asked, like what was the contract length? 42 months! ouch. Where they UL certified? Where they licensed? Where was their central station located? At one point he wanted to confirm that we had good credit, where actually the home owners, and qualified for this "amazing deal" and I told him I'd rather not until we were sure we wanted to buy into this, etc. against me telling him that I did not want to do that until I was sure he called them up anyways and gave them my name, address, birthday and phone number which I wasn't too concerned about. However still he did something I had just told him I did not want to do. I informed him that we have a rule in our house that we don't buy into anything until we've slept on it for 24-48 hours, after over an hour I finally get him out the door and thank him for his time. If you google "yelp Vivint", "Vivint review" or "Vivint scam" you'll find many horror stories of very pushy Vivint salesmen. Overall my experience really wasn't too bad, the kid was overall nice, mostly polite and good at what he does. I find most salesmen to be a little pushy so I'll chalk that up to just being normal. The next day I go to do a little home work on Vivint because again I never buy into anything without knowing fully what I'm getting into... Suffice to say I will be avoiding this company and recommending others do the same. Upon my research it would appear they've been in violation of expired licenses and unlicensed installers in a couple states to which they've actually gotten fined. Also there are a couple stories of the system not working properly (my guess is under equipped, seriously only 2 smoke alarms included?) and peoples homes burning down without ever triggering the alarm to begin with. I really should mention I really wanted this to come out with a different result, their hardware and some of their 2-way voice technology through the panel I really like and can't find from other vendors but with all the horror stories of their poor or non-functioning service, their bait-switch tactics and just straight up lying (you've been selected to receive a free system!) whats the point of the shiny high-tech hardware when it fails to work when it matters most? tl;dr I take everything with a grain of salt, but in this case there is just too much salt. I wanted to love their shiny high-tech hardware but couldn't get past the fact that it'll be worthless when backed by poor or non-working service. Do the research yourself and I'm confident you will come up with the same answer I did, BUYER BEWARE. read more

Similar story to the reviews below. A young guy showed up stating our house had been picked as an advertising home based on appearance. They wanted to install a free security system (with absolutely no upfront or ongoing costs when I asked) just for placing a sign in our yard. After a very polished presentation (this company does great sales training for their guys) we were told costs for monitoring would be $80/month. After saying "no", the price dropped twice to about $50/month. We were told this was a 1-time only offer, and we had to decide on the spot. When I declined, the salesman got very upset. Afterward, I looked them up on line, and found that same offer on the Internet for any time you sign up. I've also gotten daily calls from the company since that point.... offering the same deal. If you want an expensive security system (about $50/month more than some others) go for it. Don't fall for the high-pressure dishonest sales tactics though. read more

We've never had an issue. I've always liked Vivint. As well, I'm pretty easy going, so you really have to work at it to get a 1 star review from me. When coming to Yelp to review Vivint, I noted that amongst all the 1 star reviews, only one review had a Vivint Rep respond. I am disturbed by this. Do you not care, Vivint, about your reputation? Back to my story: Over time, I have come to know that your customer service reps are great, accommodating, and professional. I've never had an issue with a monitoring station or anything. And then today happened.... My main panel has had an annoying glitch since last summer. I have always managed a work-around (it constantly displays a low batt, although it's not) in that after contacting Vivint last summer, I was told it was a known issue and to ignore it. So, 9 months later and at 3am when it beeped (again), I grew tired of ignoring the never-ending issue. I called Vivint. After 34 minutes on the phone, customer service agreed to send out a tech to replace the panel. Here is my issue: I was informed that my service fee would be waived and I'm happy about that. But, it begs the question and so I asked: Why WOULD I pay for a service call if my equipment is malfunctioning? I was told that there is a charge after 90 days of service for any service call. Again, I asked why I would be expected to pay for a service call to fix malfunctioning equipment? I never really got a good answer because...drum roll....there isn't one! This is absurd. I understand paying a service call to move a sensor, upgrade equipment, add or remove modules, but to CHANGE OUT a malfunctioning panel? This is an example of not standing behind your equipment and under no circumstance would I be able to recommend Vivint to my friends/family/colleagues. I will, also, not be renewing my incredibly long 42 month contract when it comes to an end. Deeply disappointed in Vivint. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I repeat. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We got suckered into a contract with them that has been impossible to get out of. If you defer your service it adds on the end of your contract and if you find someone to take it over they will not offer them the same rates (much higher.) Now we are stuck paying for service that we don't even have since we sold out house. We informed that sales person that came to our door that we would be selling within the next year and they said in the event that happened the contract was null and void. I have spent 4+ hours on the phone phone through multiple conversations and only to be treated rudely without any answers. We are still paying on it even though it's disconnected!! When I asked for the address to send written correspondence I was told "if you have a lawyer they know where to send it." Point proven. This company is a complete scam. I have also contacted the BBB and the Attorney General for the state of Minnesota. read more

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH VIVINT as a customer or as a employee, I am a current employee with vivint. I would HIGHLY recommend spending your money else where. First off, it's an extremely liberal company. Second off, I can tell you that the system has extreme technical issues. Almost 2/3 of my calls a day are customers stating that their alarms are glitching causing alarms that are false, multiple times in one day. Even if you get to Technical support, and they will state that they fixed the issue and it may work correctly for the next week or so tops but then will go back to how it was before with the same issue(s). Vivint doesn't take care of their employees and only care that people are paying for the system but don't care about the customers who own the system. Vivint is so desperate for customers because all the current customers are fed up with the system and it's issues that they are offering referral codes to customers to try and get new people to sign up. Their incentive is if someone signs up that they will give you a $200 credit or a free doorbell camera but when you get someone to sign up they never send you the $200 or free doorbell camera. I have had people tell me they've tried to reach out multiple times about receiving their incentive but have no luck for months until they can reach someone reliable. Vivint also doesn't tell you about the fine print reading which for some Police Departments they require a permit number, which is another expensive cost you have to pay your city hall for you to have the police dispatched in your area but they don't tell you that until you request police or have police dispatched due to no response and then police won't even respond because you don't have a permit. When I tell customers that, they then ask what the point of the alarm system is. They have extremely bad customer service and I work there and know personally it is MUCH BETTER to spend your money somewhere else like Ring or ADT than with vivint. Vivint is overpriced and an unreliable alarm company. Please look into other options because if you do decide to go with vivint and then realize everything sucks from the alarm to the customer service, you won't be able to get out of your contract and even if you can, they will tell you that the account has been taken down but it truly isn't or you have to wait until the end of the month from when you requested to shut down the account even if you paid to get out of contract the account won't really be taken down and then you could possibly be charged due to an alarm you never was still running and then police have to be dispatched. Also half the time, people don't even have access to look at their cameras in there home even though that is a "feature" of vivint's but the cameras barely. Please look elsewhere if you want peace of mind involving your home and this is coming from a current employee at Vivint who will not be working here for much longer!! read more

I've been a customer for going on two years now, and have been very satisfied with the service. While we never had a true "emergency", we've had several false alarms (kids pushed the emergency button, opened doors when the lock was set, etc), which were just as good tests of the system as the real thing. One time the alert went off when weren't home, one of my back doors wasn't properly closed and it opened when we were out. Naturally, the alarm went off; within a few minutes their agents were calling me to let me know the alarm had gone off and, via their built-in microphone, were not able to determine if there was anybody home and if we would like to have them send the police over. Another time we opened the door and the police was already there! Without our knowledge, my toddler had pushed the panic button on the keychain FOB, which initiated an audio recording of the premises and called the police over. It was not a true emergency, but it was comforting to know that, if we ever have one, the thing actually does work. Don't let the bad reviewers turn you off! I'm not being paid by vivint, I'm just a very happy customer. read more

Never sign up to have this company monitor your home alarm system. They will make you go through hell to cancel your contract. You can send them e-mails to notify them and they will say they never receive it. In fact, they will try everything to keep you on as their customer, even after you repeatedly tried to cancel the contract after the initial 3 years period. it took me 3 weeks of phone, e-mails and fax to try to cancel my contract. read more

Patrick, a roaming employee claiming not to be a sales rep, came to my house two days ago saying he was not there to sell me anything but to tell me about some upgrades that were going to take place in my neighborhood (St Paul). So my first thought was why was he here...? He told me he was not here to sell me anything and said the upgrades in the area were going to allow a wireless connection back to the security call centers instead of relying on phone lines. I said that does not impact me. He just kept babbling on about the upgrades asking me private information about our current security system he had no business asking making me wonder who the hell this guy really was or what he wanted. At this point I told him numerous times I did not want anything from him and kept asking him to leave. He would not. He started telling me about the Vivint signs and that he wanted to put in front of my house and he would actually pay me to have the signs as he did with other neighbors of mine, which was not true. At this point I nearly had to physically push him out. And he finally left saying he hoped I was happy with my current security system. I called up the company and complained telling them to get a leash on their employees. They apologized and said this goes against all of their sales policies, especially the part about paying non-customers to host their signs.... Watch out for these sales people! They are swarming our neighborhood with these tactics! read more

I experienced the same sales pitch five years ago. Thank God it is over with. I am embarrassed that I allowed myself to be taken in like that. Now I have become once bitten twice shy. it was also hard to discontinue service. Even after my term ended five years later they charged my account and additional monthly fee which I had to fight three weeks to finally get back. These people are crooks, plain and simple. Stay away. read more

For those who are trying to decide on the security system stay away from this company. Although the equipment is excellent everything else is horrific. Here's a recent letter that I just sent where their website states that they would get in contact with in 48 hours to resolve any issues that customers have a make it right. It's now been four days and clearly nobody gives a shit so I'm going through with my promise and posting this on the site so that other people don't make the mistake that I did. To whom it may concern; Your service and the way your company is run is an absolute joke. For 4 months I have gone through phone call after phone call because you guys have no idea what the hell you're doing. I ordered almost 5000 dollars worth of product to be installed on my appointment. I was told everything was available except for outdoor cameras, which was a LIE. It took 3 service calls to install everything because everything was back ordered. On the last appointment, Larry (installer) saw what I went through and figured out my final and monthly payment. I was charged 328 for the outdoor cameras/thermostats and agreed on 69 bucks a month monthly payment starting Oct 9. In the following weeks, I got calls everyday, sometimes twice a day that I had a balance due. So or the next two months I repeatedly got charged random amounts. I called and I was told I owed you guys money for products. After explaining that I already paid that, I got refunded the money back. I asked for notes be made on my account stating the above arrangement so I would not go through it again. Yet again, today, I got charged 393 dollars, 328 being the amount that I had already paid. I just got off the phone yet again and were told we see that not sure why you were charged. This same thing happened with my monthly payment. I got charged, had to call back explain the situation and got credited back. NO ONE reads any notes, no one knows what the hell is going on in your company. Furthermore, I recently called and asked for someone to come out because the Vivint app was not recording video on one of the cameras and crashing the app for 2 months. A service man came and had no idea what the issue was, took a video of the issue on his phone and told me he would send this out to the office and CC me in the email. Never did any of it. I called back and was told that the app is not working and the technical dept is working on it and it will be resolved in 4-5 days. It's now been 10 days and it still doesn't work. So Todd Pedersen or who ever is reading this. You have not created an amazing experience rather the worst experience of my life. You have fallen beyond expectations. If I don't hear from you guys in 48 hours either via phone call or email I will post this experience on YELP and every other social media I can find to make sure people hear how sorry your company really is. After this horrific experince, I am sorry I did not go with ADT. read more
