The sales representative was courteous and friendly and she explained all details of the purchase and what we were getting for our money. The installation technician was courteous, friendly and wasted no time completing the installation and then thoroughly explained how to maintain and operate the Vivint system. An awesome experience! The monthly price, which pays for the equipment and the monitoring fee, was slightly higher than other systems ( I compared it to ADT ) but some of the selling features were 1) The Vivint system works over cellular so a loss of power does not effect it like losing WiFi would and 2) the system included "panic" pendants in case one of us was unable to communicate a medical emergency such as can occur if we have a stroke. Both of us have suffered strokes in the past couple of years and this was a BIG consideration when purchasing a monitoring system and finally, 3) the price that we pay each month is locked in for 60 months, as compared with 36 months with ADT. read more

Vivint is HORRIBLE! Do not use them. They will not respond to maintenance issues and will insist that your equipment is outdated and you have to upgrade. When you try to cancel, they will offer you 1,000 options and after 1 1/2 hours, will finally accept your cancellation. But wait, they will continue to charge you insisting that you never requested a cancellation, even with email proof. read more

These people are scam artists!! My elderly mother was moved to assisted living. When I listed her home for sale I called to cancel their service. They continued to auto bill her and take money. I have called them five times (10 months later) they stopped auto billing but continue to paper bill and charge her. This is an elderly woman with dementia. I will be filing a complaint with the Alabama Attorney General Office as they are exploiting the elderly. Do not use this company!! read more

Ok..so I've been a Vivint customer for well over 9 years. All of my equipment has been paid in full for quite some time. I decided I wanted to upgrade and add a few things and it seemed to be going seamlessly. They quoted me a price, I agreed with it and they scheduled the install. My new monthly amount was given to me and I paid the updated amount just a few days before install. Installer was great. Fast forward to exactly 2 weeks after install..Vivint tries to hit my locked credit card for 1985.37. I thought it was a mistake but called to find out what was up. They tell me that the charge is for the new equipment and the install fee. The equipment was supposed to be added to my monitoring and spread across 60 months no interest. No install fee. The rep then tells me it appears that it wasn't set up for financing and they can do one of two things-1: do a 5 month pay option @ $397 a month or 2: do a downgrade and remove the equipment. I told them no way I was paying in 5 months that wasn't the agreed terms. The rep then states let's just down grade remove the equipment and in 2 weeks contact us back and we will do the upgrades on a new contract and get the equipment reinstalled. Now mind you..I'm not a rocket scientist but wouldn't it make better sense to send me a cancellation order or amendment to the contract and fix the issues and continue with service rather than have to pay someone to remove the equipment then pay someone to reinstall it?? My response was simple-nah yall go ahead and remove the equipment, I'll go with ADT if ima have to go through the headache of all that mess over again. Because I wasn't under contract originally for the monitoring because I had already fulfilled my previous contract obligations. Don't walk away from them-RUN. read more

Run from Vivint. I entered into a Vivint contract in August. A door to door salesman came by and said he could get me a deal for $10 a month. They were having a competition among the other regional branches of Vivint to see who could sell the most contracts. The prize was a trip to the Bahamas or something for whichever branch won. I needed a security system and wanted to help the guy win so I was happy to sign up. Plus who could pass up a deal for $10 a month? Well the contract I signed ended up being $17.47 a month. Not that bad. $50 a month to finance the equipment. Manageable. I asked the guy thorough questions making sure that this contract would really only be $60 ($10 plus the $50 for equipment) and he swore up and down it would be that. He also said that I could cancel at any time. Two weeks go by and the system was nothing but trouble. The backyard camera was offline every other day. The door bell camera offline at least once a week. I wouldn't get notified if someone rang the door bell and the backyard light wouldn't come on even though it was set to turn on with motion. I have been constantly resetting the panel since I've had it. It's so unreliable. After two weeks I decided I wanted to cancel and found out that I signed a contract (at the time I didn't know it was a two year contract) and that I would only have been able to cancel within three days. Again I was unaware of this, the guy told me I could cancel at any time. I was upset but resigned myself to having made a bad decision. Well fast forward to February and I see a charge from Vivint for $44 on my bank account. Much higher than the $17.47 that was in my contract. I went digging through my paperwork that was emailed to me and come to find out there was an addendum added to the contract that says it's only $17.47 for the first 6months and then increases to $37.47 after that. I also apparently signed up for DVR playback for $6.99 a month. Which now brings my monthly payment to $44.46 a month. I never saw this addendum and I never signed the addendum. The contract I DID sign clearly lays out that my monthly payments will be $17.47 for 60 months. But in fine print it says to read the promotional credit. Because the guy was rushing me through the paperwork I didn't see those little letters and he certainly did not show me or mention to me the addendum. I was deceived into paying for an ever changing contract that I'm stuck with for two years. Yes I should have read every inch of all the papers I signed and I have definitely learned my lesson. But I'm not the only one to fall for their deception because there is already one lawsuit out against Vivint in Kansas for "deceptive business practices" So in conclusion, do not choose Vivint. They will lie to you and you'll find yourself saddled with hidden fees and long contracts, but their products and services suck and definitely don't live up to what they are advertised as. I'm going to be making a chain of bad reviews for Vivint on every site I can and will spreading the word to avoid Vivint at all costs. I'll be telling all my neighbors and friends and if possible I will be making a complaint to the better business bureau. I will also be looking into starting another lawsuit for the "deceptive business practices" here in Alabama. read more

Whatever you do, don't get Vivint Security (Huntsville AL). If you try to cancel they will not do it. I have tried to cancel with them for over 2 months now and they continue to charge me. They send you to the worst possible customer service who are trained in the use of scripted lines and repeat them over and over again. I have to call AGAIN on Monday and argue with someone who will repeat themselves over and over. Horrible company. I moved into this house with the security system already in place. First day I had problems with it and customer service almost had me destroying my A/C because they wanted me to go inside to the components of the thermostat module and start messing around with it. I hung up because I knew that would be the worst mistake (And I was right). Go with a more reputable company. read more

I'm giving this company such a low rating given the experience I had today. I do not have Vivint security and definitely do not plan to after today. A sales lady showed up at my house and started talking about whose homes she serviced in the area - note: I've lived in the same house for 23 years and know my neighborhood well as it is right knit - she was lying. There is no one in this area by the generic names she gave. She also said she serviced 27 homes in my area - which I find hard to believe considering most houses on our street have a sign for the same security company. Finally, she showed up on Memorial Day (a holiday) to try and sell me an alarm system. It felt completely disrespectful. Further, she made comments and observations about my current security system, which left me feeling uneasy and startled. She was asking invasive questions that seemed very inappropriate for the situation. However, she had on a Vivint shirt and lanyard with a badge, so I am positive she was a real Vivint rep. But she never once identified herself, gave her name, and her pitch was below mediocre. She didn't even say anything when I answered the door, I had to ask her if she needed anything. TLDR: Her sales pitch was full of lies and inappropriate questions. If this is your sales tactic as a way to garner customers, consider it failed. Your saleswoman made me extremely uncomfortable and I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

I have so many issues with Vivint that I don't known where to begin. If I didn't already have the components, I would enlist another company. We had had the system for at least a year prior to the illness, lengthy hospitalization, and then death of my elderly mother. After she was released from the hospital and had to move into my house while under hospice care, we discontinued the security coverage till we could determine what to do with the property. After her house hadn't been occupied for an extended period (because it was solely my responsibility, and I was/am in poor health), the house was burglarized. During the burglary, several components of the Vivint system were stolen. Prior to reinitiating the security system, I inquired specifically about requirements to run the system. I was attempting to minimize expenses, so I didn't plan to have WiFi: The agent with whom I spoke claimed that WiFi wouldn't be required to maintain the system. The agent was either ignorant of what was required or he deliberately mislead me in order to have me purchase the new system components and continue to maintain a system with Vivint. When I began having issues with the operation of the system, the agent said the software couldn't automatically update because it wasn't connected to WiFi. I informed the agent of the claim that was made prior to replacing the components of the system that had been stolen. Supposedly (per the agent's claim), the workaround that would ensure the update of the software would be to be present in the home and to contact an agent so they could manually initiate a software update. A couple months ago, the system alarmed because evidently there was activity at the back door (which is where the threat is the greatest). I had been called by Vivint to determine if there was a true threat or if the alarm was false. Because I was sleeping and my phone was off, I couldn't be reached. Supposedly, police was notified and checked the property. (I learned about this from my cousin, who had been notified as my alternate contact.) I feel the onus to notify me should've been on Vivint. (I pay Vivint and not my family member!) After I learned of the event, I contacted Vivint for details. This began a game of hot potato, whereby I was instructed to contact police. In doing so, I was told the police couldn't provide details and I needed to contact Vivint. So, the cycle (in reverse) continued. Well, yesterday I was notified by my lawn guy (who also cares for my late Mom's yard) that he had checked her yard prior to a clean up and noticed that the back door was cracked open. Because he feared the alarm would sound if he entered to investigate (and because he is black, he would've likely been arrested), he opted to notify me. Since someone apparently entered the house and the alarm obviously didn't sound, I must assume the security system failed once again. I don't doubt that Vivint won't care, will say they are (as always) not responsible for the failure, won't offer any credit (and would deny a credit if I ask, which they've done in the past), won't allow me to talk to someone in authority, and will instruct me to send an email to customer service detailing my dispute. I'm sure that would also be ignored. So, buy a dog to defend your property. Vivint doesn't care about the customer except as it pertains to robbing them of money. You'll only be disappointed. read more

I've had Vivint for 4 years and 4 months now at $52.14/month. When I called about the problem with my video doorbell, I was told that I needed to unscrew the plugin in the outlet. Told them it couldn't be accessed, so they offered to come out for a $99 service visit... and btw, I'd need to get a new doorbell because they don't service the one I had anymore (part of the $1200 package that include one camera in the house). New doorbell would be $250, but I could get $100 off by extending my service agreement THREE years. When I said to cancel my subscription, they said they'd be glad to as soon as I paid 50% of the rest of the contract. REST OF THE CONTRACT? Yes, you have a FIVE YEAR CONTRACT. (read the fine print, I guess). So now, I guess I'll get a Ring doorbell for $100 and continue to pay this fleecing company for the next 8 months. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM VIVINT! read more

These people should not be allowed to install a light bulb. They damaged my floors. They tore my drywall. They left exposed wires to an outside camera. Best advice is don't use these people. Didn't bother to paint it. Left holes in my doors, and the list goes on..... Again DONOT use these people!!!
