When I cancelled immediately, they didn't show up to 3 separate appointments to remove the equipment after I had taken the days off work. I am now trying to get my 4K refunded to me. Poor Business practices. You are an alarm company that cannot guarantee its services or its equipment. You and your sales salespeople practice unethical means to get contracts signed and never follow up as they said they would. You can never get customer support long wait times and if you do it is over sea's when you request to speak with someone in the US it doesn't happen though Vivint is based out of Utah. Have complaints especially when it deals with my safety. You are an alarm service you cannot reach when the equipment is not working or any other reason very reassuring to me. You buy an alarm to know your house and family are safe, well think again. Not with the Vivant alarm system or its support team working. I have spent over six hours on the phone not getting anything done. No one could answer a question to get me to help most of my conversation was with the Philippines, yet a Utah-based company how American. The owners are Todd Pedersen · Keith Nellesen shame on you who send out your manipulating salesman with fraudulent claims. There is no way to reach corporate headquarters it 7 hours on the phone you can even reach anyone to cancel the service. The other reviews that you see on here should warn you to stay away from these people. They will show you a system, that you hope will protect your home and family, but the equipment is horrible, the service is worse, and now they're telling me they will charge me $99 to send a service person out to fix my broken system. Their telephone and door to door sales team are borderline torture! They will continue to harrass you even after you tell them no. I have had several people come to my door even with my 'no soliciting' sign, several phone calls where they pester you even after you have said no several times, emails and texts. We had such high hopes for our vivint system. The technology, if it worked properly, would be years ahead of any of its competitors. That's a big IF. We've had the system less than a year and already had the thermostats replaced once, yet they're still not working as they should be. The company will also bend over backward to give you all the equipment you want. Once you're an established customer paying over $100/month they will gouge you if you try to add additional equipment to your system. They clearly don't value their existing customers and are only in it to lock people into contracts. Buyer beware! read more

Warning to everyone curious about doing business with Vivint -- Do NOT!! First of all, if you have one of their Sales people come to your door, do not give them a single second of your time. You will regret it down the road, it not the very next day (like myself, and a few of our community members). Their Sales Team are Liars, and are craftily manipulative and deceitful. Second, the cameras seem to work fine...if you can get the rest of their equipment to work. The Control Panel frequently cannot be relied on, and their modem and router just...stop working regularly. And the App.... I don't have enough time to go through all the problems numerous of us have had with it! As it is right now, we haven't been able to use their service for 2 months now... And yet, of course here we are still being charged, despite attempting to resolve the issues. We finally decided to cancel, and turns out, the salesman, who told us that we wouldn't be charged any early termination fees....well...he lies about that too. After a very difficult time trying to cancel our service, jumping through ridiculous hoops, and even paying off our equipment in full, they are now dropping a $1,000 early termination fee on us! The salesmen are very pushy and took advantage of me and my husband. They wouldn't take no for an answer even when we told them we are on a fixed income. They try to convince you they are saving you money which is BS! Don't sign up they weren't truthful with us. They told us there was a 30 day no obligation trial period; there wasn't, it was only a 3 day trial. They hid the cancelation 3x5 paper inside the booklet where we couldn't see it then when I went to cancel it was to late. To get out of this contract it would cost $3500. Two guys show up at my door, one on a Segway and the other apparently walking. No masks. We are not overly concerned about masks but it was a bit unnerving how they managed to get me to open my door and then ask to come in to check my thermostat. But I take responsibility for all this but do kick myself for allowing it and for everything I did allow once they did gain entrance into my home. Two nice gentleman, polite and slick speaking. We listened to their product spiel and were interested to some extent. I started getting nervous about things and voiced my concerns. First off, they tell you the system is FREE if you let them put a sign in your yard but I knew we still were going to get hit with security fees, so we continued on. Let me tell you, it's not free. They add it to the security fees for 5 years and it ends up costing you approx. 4000.00 for the equipment and then a system fee each month so it was going to be around 95.00 a month for 5 years. I wasn't sure we were up for that on our retirement budget but it was hard to say no. We finally did but they pushed and pushed and we caved like idiots. Of course they want to put the equipment in that day to seal the deal but we were having company so all they could do was drop off the panel and agreed to install the next day. We called that evening to cancel after we had some time to talk. He kept trying to get my husband to change his mind or take money off the package or reduce our equipment....but we said no thank you. When I called today to ask the salesman if they were coming to get the panel that was left he said we had to call and cancel with the main office first. Well, that in itself was horrific. 45 minutes on hold with their SLC office and I finally get a gal who told me she would see what she could do for us. She put me on hold for another 20 minutes and came back to tell me that they could take 2 months off for us. I told her no thank you, we wanted to cancel. She then put me on hold again and came back and told me she could reduce the monthly bill by 6.00 each month but that was all they could do. I again told her we wanted to cancel per our 3 day cancellation agreement and she put me on hold again and finally came back and allowed us to cancel. Of course we had to email them to ask for this cancellation. Now we are concerned because they took our credit card info and we were told we wouldn't be charged but we were charged a months fee within an hour of them leaving. Now we are having to cancel our credit card as we don't know if they will be putting any more charges on our account. They never even installed the system. Please beware folks. Smooth talkers, nice looking....but they are not what they appear. Once we said no the nice young man no longer cared to help us or give us the time of day! BEWARE!!!! read more

Two times within a week a door to door salesman with Vivint and Smart Home Pros ignored my no soliciting sign and knocked on my door. Same guy both times! I nicely pointed out my sign and he didn't apologize but just said he didn't see it and then continued to rattle on about how, with his product, I wouldn't have to answer the door for any salesman! Very poor customer service. Installed system in my home, which was to include a motion sensor. They failed to install the motion sensor and, notwithstanding the fact I paid for it, when I called to point out the mistake they told me I would have to pay for the replacement and pay for a service call to install it. read more

Terrible company. I pay cash for all the equipment so I can be month to month. The panel battery goes bad at 13 months, now out of warranty. The garage door auto open won't work. They want to charge me to come out and look at it. The door bell camera doesn't consistently work with recording each visit. It's pricey. And if you try to quit their service, they run you around on the phone. Then have you sign an email and send it in. I had to call again and ask why they charged me for another month even though I had cancelled the service. They said oh yah we see the email now will submit for cancellation. Another month goes by and they charge me again. End of story, I had to block them from charging my credit card. Also once that happens they block you from using the equipment with other services and you no longer can use their app even in your own WiFi to control your panel. Wasted 1500 dollars on very subpar equipment and 55 dollars a month for 2 years. Terrible terrible aggressive tactics. No where close to a six sigma company. read more

Had system 5 years and yesterday I had my first issue and wow what a lousy response. The CO detector was chirping so i changed the battery twice but it was still chirping. I took out battery until I could figure out what was going on and then the main panel started chirping because it was not communicating with CO detector because I took out battery. With no way to shut off the chirping I called Vivint Customer support. After almost 50 min. of trying to figure out what was going on which included me taking apart the main panel, removing and replacing stuff, rebooting the system twice and losing passwords, the tech could not figure out what was wrong. He was gone almost 10 min. while trying to get a service tech date to come out and when he did return he said no dates were available but would send out a replacement monitor. That was too much as that was no indication of correcting the problem and with the total lack of customer care I told him I was done. I had to remove the battery from the main panel and pull the plug to shut the chirping off so I could sleep. Today I called to cancel I was told they could get someone out by Oct. 28! If I cancelled now I would have to pay penalty because I signed a contract. I told them good luck because THEY broke the contract by lack of service and support. I was told that I would have to speak with billing and after being on hold for billing almost 14 min and a total phone call of over 42 min. , I was disconnected. I was going to try again immediately but frustration is setting in. Maybe tomorrow I'll try again Would not use this company to watch my cats. read more

Their door to door sales tactics are borderline harassment. I have had the same person on my doorstep at least five times in the last week. After advising him I am working or not interested in his product and to please leave he continued to ask questions. I am all for a good sales pitch and rebuttals, but not to the point you are forced to shut the door to end the conversation. He also named off other neighbors who signed up, which for a security type of company seems invasive and not a appropriate sales tactic for their product. Stay away from VIVINT!!!! First these people came to my home early in the day and sold my wife an alarm system while I was obviously at work. Our neighborhood is posted that it does not allow solicitors so they were breaking the law to be there in the first place. She says she is not sure about getting the system without my input and the sales person pressures her into buying the system telling her should could cancel at anytime should we choose not to keep it. It gets installed and the problems start right away. Installer drills holes in the wall only to find out the system will not communicate properly. She patches the holes but is not responsible to paint them; she installs it in another location. The fan was not set up correctly on thermostat and runs for 1 month before we realize it and it takes 1.5 hours over the phone to resolve it; (since they gave us no training on how to program the panel). 3 false alarms due to door entries set-up with 0 second delays and in one case they dispatch police without contacting us so we stop using the alarm because of it. Now fast forward to when we are ready to move. Not only is the system tied into a 60 month contract with a buy out clause of get this 100% of the price of the original contract. If you sign this contract they will get 4,200$ regardless of whether you keep the system or not. I feel that is worth saying again. If you are at anytime dissatisfied with the service too bad you WILL pay 4,200$ to the company. And by the way if you move and cannot con the new buyers into purchasing your contract they charge you 90$ to set the same equipment up in your new house. Then the move specialist Jared starts getting nasty with me and hangs up on me saying he spent 20 minutes with me and since the account is not in my name he cannot do anything else and I am wasting his time and he needs to help other people. Never mind the fact that he did not realize that this policy was set ups so only my wife can speak to him until at the end of the call. Stay away from this company unless you feel 150$ of equipment is worth a 5 year commitment of 4,200$ and terrible customer service. read more

We encountered Vivint through a door-2-door sales rep offering a free installation in order to allow them to place an advertising sign in our yard. The rep explained that our house would be the loss leader for them in the neighborhood to get others on board. Our cost was purported to be restricted to just a monthly dispatch fee that we could cancel or freeze at any point. The sales rep was very dodgy about the monthly fee and would quickly jump upon a new point when the word contract came up. In fact we are sure he actually kept parts of the purported free installation agreement hidden as it described the unmentionable terms of service when showing us the paperwork. Very questionable sales tactics. I would recommend looking at another company if you are in the market for a home security system. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would! Stay away from Vivint! The sales tactics used are aggressive and highly deceptive. They will tell you lies to get you to sign up with them and when you realize that nothing they told you was true, they will give you the runaround when you try and cancel. I called customer service and was told I was being transferred to the appropriate department, was on hold for 45 minutes then was hung up on. The rep stated Vivint's products were years ahead of any other security company and they would buy out my existing contract with the security company I was already with, if I signed up with them. Well I found that out to be a bold faced lie! Now I am stuck in 2 contracts and fighting Vivint to get out of their contract. This is no way to do business and I've filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau as well as the Attorney Generals of ID and UT and the UT Division of Consumer Protection. read more

Vivint security system company is horrible. We we're customer's since 2011 until today December 28th 2016. We sold our home and instead of them offering to put our contract on hold or any other offer they demanded the money left on our contract. I informed them we thought we met our contract obligations, but they became rude threatening lawyer's and trying to be intimidating. We told them that they changed from AT&T contract to a different company to save there company money, and that we would not change the chip inside there security machine to another company that we had not heard of. Anyway we did pay the existing contract of $650 which we felt was not fair for us they're customers. I will not recommend to any family or friends and please everyone else beware of there business tactics. When we move into our new home I have checked out ADT and that will be the company we go with.
