    I called and scheduled an estimate with Frankwin to come out and give me a quote on a home theater…read moreinstallation as well as to get some advice and a second opinion on the system components I was considering. He came out as scheduled but almost immediately I noticed a certain...arrogance, almost condescending attitude. He must be used to dealing with wealthy rubes who just want to throw around a lot of money but not do any thinking or research for themselves and I had done a LOT of research. For starters when I told him I was looking to get a good deal on an OLED from last year's model he told me with a smirk "no way you're going to find one this time of year" when in fact (and I showed him) SEVERAL places, including Amazon, Ebay and other online retailers where they were still available at a bargain. He also criticized my choice (an LG G3 77" OLED) sayng Samsung was better, but in my research and for my purposes the LG was widely considered across MANY consumer forums to be the superior set, with LG having a long standing track record for quality over Samsung. Perhaps more egregiously he told me that in no way should I buy the 5.1 system I wanted but that he could set me up with a SONOS soundbar system instead...for tripe the cost of course. Again, looking at A/V forums online soundbars, while better than ever, are still no match for a dedicated 5.1 system. SONOS is considered great for music, but subpar for movies and gaming which are my primary uses. Basically, aside from his smug and condescending attitude, which is hard to convey in words but definitely turned me off almost immediately, it was clear he was really trying to push me to buy what HE wanted to push, and NOT really listening or caring about what I wanted or what would be best for me, AND it was clear that he wasn't used to being questioned or dealing with people willing to do their own research... I had asked him to compare two 5.1 systems I was looking at and he DID get back to me (hence 2 stars instead of 1), but his argument against getting either of them were "they were being phased out of support". For my purposes that's not something I care about, and I told him as much...if I can get a good deal on a slightly older model I'll take it. If you have money to burn and don't care to do your own research and/or think for yourself, by all means call Frankwin. I'm sure his actual work is competent but both his personality and his advice really gave me a scummy vibe. YMMV...

    ADT Security Services - Always there.

    I would strongly caution anyone considering ADT to consider talking to other security providers…read more I contacted ADT after my homeowner's insurance company informed me that I needed both a security system and a central fire alarm system installed in order to continue coverage on my primary residence. I provided the size of my home, the number of doors and windows, and all relevant information over the phone. Based on that information, I was given a written quote for $619.94, and I signed a contract for that amount. ADT then scheduled a technician to come to my home for the installation. Once he arrived, he informed me that the person who originally set up the contract "didn't know what they were doing" and that the quoted system did not include the proper equipment needed for my home and insurance requirements. The technician then presented me with a completely different system and price totaling approximately $4,600 -- more than a 700% increase over the original quoted and contracted amount. Because I was under a strict time constraints from my homeowner's insurance company to get the system installed soon in order to maintain coverage, I felt I had very little choice at that point other than to proceed. What I experienced felt extremely misleading and unfair. A customer should not sign a written agreement for one price, only to be told at installation that the "real" price is several thousand dollars more. In my opinion, this felt like a classic bait-and-switch situation: attract the customer with a low quoted and contracted price, then dramatically increase the cost once the customer is under pressure and the tech is onsite  for the installation. Afterward, I spent over two and a half hours on hold across two different days trying to resolve this issue. I spoke with six different ADT representatives and got nowhere. I was repeatedly transferred and never provided any meaningful resolution or accountability. Based on my experience, I would strongly discourage anyone from using ADT. There are many other security providers available, and I would highly recommend researching alternative companies before signing any agreement with ADT. This was one of the most frustrating and disappointing customer service experiences I have ever had.

Since those days the customer service has gotten worse and worse. I've now canceled my service and would NEVER consider giving ADT another chance without seeing significant changes in their service. Start with making changes at your call-center ADT. Your people need to be able to speak English and have training on how to perform their jobs. being transferred six times is never going to make a good customer experience.
