Nat and his associates are highly professional, decent, honest and very good at diagnosing and solving HVAC problems. They also do large projects as needed. They put in a new furnace for me several years ago and it's a lovely thing. Emphasis on energy efficiency for new work as well. Rates are always reasonable and transparent for the service provided. I have been using this company for 12 years now and would not consider using anyone else. Thanks folks. read more

We called Flash Heating and Home Repair for both AC and furnace problems in the past few years and they have become our most trusted repair shop. Recently they have replaced our faulty water heater. Nat and Marcus are the most decent and honest people one could ever hope to deal with. They are quick to respond and possess a vast technical knowledge. There's just nobody better. read more

Top notch service and work. They seemed happy to explain what was going on and we're quite thorough with follow up to make sure we were good to go. They're the only heating service I'll keep in my contacts if we need help! read more

Flash H&HR is honest, friendly, and priced correctly. I have used Flash several times for various projects at my property in Boise. Nat, the owner, is a pleasure to work with and very professional. They have always come through for us when we need them. This last time it was urgent. I was on a trip, had there number in my phone. Called, to see if they were able to help. They got us fixed and working within hours. Thanks for another job well done. I highly recommend Flash Heating and Home Repair. read more

Whenever something goes wrong with my HVAC, I find Nat's contact info and shoot off a text. There is a certain pride in having that problem solver to contact when something goes wrong. Last night i texted...he called back late to tell me he was on vacation and that he'd have Marcus come by later the next day. Marcus was free in the morning and fixed the problem in an hour. A few things about Flash: - Absolutely fair - Efficient work - No upselling that you don't need - No bullpoop (PG for the kids) If there weren't crazy people in this world i'd post my phone number so you could call me if you wanted a personal testimonial. read more

Nathaniel is the man, very honest and reliable, saved me over 10k today as someone tried to convince me that my ac unit was dead and needed to be replaced. Nathaniel came out and had it working within 30 minutes, I definitely recommend his company for any hvac needs. I just read the reviews for Flash heating and home repair company and I am upset that people would leave a negative review given that this had to do with scheduling an appointment and not actually servicing the hvac system. It's like me leaving a restaurant 1 star review without trying their food all because I couldn't be accommodated with my reservations, pure nonsense. Flash heating and Home Repair gets 5 stars from me for work excellently done. read more

I am very thankful for Flash. We just bought a house a bit outside of Boise last week. We had a problem with the water heater. After taking an extremely cold shower, I searched for a company that could help me. Unfortunately, most wouldn't service this area. I contacted Flash and Nat told me they didn't service this area. But, he would check back with me the next day and would try to help me if I couldn't find another company to help me. True to his word, he called the next day. I hadn't found an alternative, so he made an exception and drove out here to fix the problem. I've got hot water again this morning thanks to Flash. read more

On a hot summer Boise afternoon, our air conditioner just stopped working. Saturday morning I called Nat after finding great reviews of him and his company on a local app. Nat immediately called me back and came out to my house to take a look at our a/c. He was able to quickly identify the issue, fix it, and educate me along the way. It was heavenly to feel cool air once again blowing out from our vents and cooling down our super hot house. Nat was professional, honest, fair and went out of his was to provide superior service with a touch of humor. He was a pleasure to work with and I will definitely call him again when I have any HVAC issues. I would highly recommend Nat Golden and his company Flash Heating and Home Repair. You won't be disappointed. read more

Wow! Flash is OUTSTANDING. You always hope when there's an HVAC crisis you're not going to be ripped off or upsold a budget breaking solution. My Boise home AC was blowing, but no cold air...in the heat of the summer. I tried several providers... the big name HVAC company, (think big radio advertisements), "diagnosed" my problem as requiring a new A/C. (The home AC was blowing but had no cold air - coolant leaked out of the system) Thought it'd get a second opinion from Flash (guy's name is Nat) before committing to thousands in a new unit. He saved me a bundle of money. He came out, legitimately diagnosed the problem (coolant leak - correctly diagnosed the same as the big name provider) but ACTUALLY FOUND the source of the problem from LOOSE FITTINGS. This was something the other guys missed!! Flash tightened them up, filled up the coolant, ran a leak check, and solved the problem. Major savings and major thanks to Nat at Flash for having the grit to dig a little deeper about the problem and not immediately trying to sell me a new AC unit! Not saying the big name guys were deliberately trying to rip me off, but a little investigative work and giving the AC a good once over saved me an enormous amount of headache and money. THAT'S service EXCELLENCE. Sincerely appreciate their diagnostics... instead of a $4500 new AC, I have a fully functioning tune up to the original unit for a couple hundred dollars. Very responsive and very professional. Couldn't ask for any better service than that. Thank you Nat and thank you Flash! No fancy advertisements on the radio...just honest and reliable service from the little guy. I'll go with that option every time - grand slam. read more

My air conditioner went out and it was a Saturday, I left messages for several companies and Flash Heating called me back immediatley. Nat was easy to work with and his pricing was way below all other quotes we got for the same unit. He came out and fixed my air conditioner at no charge to get me going as it was going to be a couple days to get my new a/c and heater installed. The install went smoothly, both Nat and Marcus were great to work with and my a/c works great. I highly recommend this company. read more

I so love Yelp and the reviewers on here! I was trying to help my little brother locate an honest company from here in Arizona for his 2 rentals in Nampa, Idaho. He lives in California and was about to fly out to Idaho in hopes of finding somebody decent. I saw a one star review under a different outfit and contacted the unhappy Yelper. He responded immediately with THIS companys name, number and fantastic experience! (Thx AD!) I forwarded his nice response to my brother. My brother contacted this company today. They already went out and diagnosed/repaired the broken part! (Hubby has 32 yrs as a master technician, but it's pretty tough to diagnose a dead furnace over the phone, lol) Thank you guys SOOOOOO much for taking care of him/his tenant! It's so wonderful to find others that run their business like we do! I know you have a customer for life now! Merry Christmas! read more

Our furnace started working erratically. Nat was able to come out the same day, check everything out, simplify the way the HVAC system was wired, and get it up and running in a couple of hours. It's been working great since. read more

Nat was very responsive to our call. He sent Marcus out within a few hours and he got our unit up and running. Highly recommend this company! No nonsense and to the point. read more

Nat was recommended to be by a friend who runs AirB&B's and long term rentals. He had done work for me for the last 10 years or so. Unbelievable service, pricing and workmanship. I rarely give 5 stars to companies. I would give 6 if I could. read more

Nat at Flash Heating is a rare find -- honest, fair, responsive, and a problem solver with no unnecessary up-selling. I wish there were more Nat's in the industry! He's my go-to person for any HVAC issues in Boise. read more

Of course our air conditioner decides to go out in the middle of a hot July Saturday. We initially called the company that had service stickers all over the unit. What a mistake that was! The pink and white truck quoted us 6K to 8K for a new air conditioner as our was "toast". I quickly turned to Yelp and found Nat with Flash Heating and Home Repair. Thank goodness I did! He was fantastic getting our air conditioner back on its legs for just a few hundred dollars. He was friendly, quick and didn't try to sell us a unit we didn't need. I will ONLY use Nat and Flash here on out for all of my home heating and cooling needs! read more

You always feel like you're getting screwed when you call a repair guy. Except Nat. He's amazing. We've used him for three years now, and he's been consistently & exceptionally reliable. Nat and his team are great!!! At our rental property the furnace went out and Nat was prompt, informative and very friendly. He was fair and honest with what the problem was, and was able to fix it at a very reasonable price. DON'T CALL THE "BIG NAME" COMPANIES...START HERE INSTEAD!!!! read more

I kept Nat's card/magnet on my fridge for six years because his level of service long ago was excellent - fair and friendly. He was my first choice if I ever ran into heating or AC issues, which I didn't have until this year. This year we started having problems with our AC and I remembered him and contacted him first. The first time was a text because on his voicemail he said texting was okay. I never received a response. Everyone has their off days and with the heatwave I imagined every HVAC guy out there was busy. I gave it a couple days and called him. He answered the phone and said he could come out that night. That would've been great, but we asked to schedule the appointment the next day, which was pay day. I was straightforward about that. I also don't expect ANYONE I call for service to come out the same day (except perhaps a plumber). He said he would call back and put us on the schedule the next day. The next day, no phone call. No text. Needless to say, the magnet has been taken off the fridge and put in the trash. ---Edit--- After seeing my review, Nat contacted me to ask me if I still needed help. Although we found someone to fix our AC issue, I appreciate that he contacted me to try to make it right. Added 1 star for the effort. read more

I manage a few properties in Boise form out of state. One of my tenants required what he thought was an AC repair (but turned out to be a furnace repair). Nat was able to come out on the Saturday before Easter Sunday to provide a quick fix, then return on Monday, when he had picked up the required part, to finish the repair. Great service and great price. Tenants were also happy with the service. Nat was able to communicate with me efficiently via text message and email, which is a big plus for me. Final formal invoice received by email (as Word doc); Nat even offered to send an invoice via PayPal, if I so preferred. I highly recommend Flash Heating and Home Repair! read more

Nat is great! Knowledgeable and more than willing to work within a budget. No hard close or pulling for expensive options. Highly recommended! read more

The first hot day of Spring and my AC doesn't blow cool air! I Googled AC repair in Boise and found that Nat at FLASH Heating & Home Repair had the highest number of 5-star reviews. I'm not surprised at all. Nat had the lowest priced service call fee that once paid, is good for the whole year. His service was quick, efficient and friendly. He had replaced my broken fan motor in less than an hour. He also offered to change my ceiling filter since I don't own a ladder, and then he wouldn't let me pay for it! Very nice guy. I would definitely do business with Nat at Flash again! read more

Another local HVAC company said my furnace needed a $2,400 repair and shut off my furnace until I got it done. Flash Heating came out and had my furnace working for $105, saving me $2,295 from what the other company wanted to charge. Will be coming to these guys again in the future. Great company to have found. Great prices (charged me even less than he initially said he would). They were fast, responsive to work with. Overall just a great company. read more

Nat has helped me with both the AC and the heater at a couple of units up here in Boise. I can definitely recommend his service. Quick response, good service, fair pricing. A straight shooter that gets the job done. Very glad to have found a good HVAC guy. read more

Outstanding company, great first experience! So I just moved to Boise, and I bought a house and wanted to have a HVAC contractor come out and check out my heating\cooling system, replace the filters, and basically have someone familiar to be able to call should I ever need emergency service in the winter. I did a search online and found a site which listed a bunch of HVAC companies, and I emailed several. Nat, from Flash Heating emailed me back within minutes, gave me some great info in regards to the new system, and offered to come do an inspection and introduce me to his company for almost no cost (just the cost of filters). He showed up when he said he would, and looked through the entire system, replaced the filters, and gave me some great tips for reducing the cost of operation, and extending the life of my furnace. He only charged for the filter replacement, and didn't try to sell me parts that don't need to be replaced. I'm happy to recommend Nat w\ Flash. I hope I don't have to call him in the winter for an emergency service, but I'm happy to have his card and info in the event something goes wrong and I need a quick reliable repair. read more

Like Marla R. (06-29-2016) we've been just trying to set up an appointment for two days. A text response that indicated he'd called back and missed us (though we had no record of an incoming call) -- then we just requested an appointment date. Nothing for a day and a half. Thankfully this wasn't an emergency but it is something that needs attention soon with the change in weather. If Nat isn't interested in even setting up an appointment, I guess we're going to check out another company. read more

Excellent Service and Repair! I would recommend Nat at Flash to anyone. Nat and his associate came out in a timely manner, were very professional, friendly and very reasonable in his pricing. The repair was done right, and he billed me after a few days to ensure that the issue was indeed resolved. When I called all the main HVAC companies, they all wanted to sell me services and maintenance plans before they ever came on site. They were also est. double and even triple the cost for the potential issue. Don't go anywhere else, use Nat at Flash Heating! read more

Our furnace quit working and my wife called one of the big companies in the valley (Western). They came out, told us there was a crack the width of a finger in the heat exchanger, and gave us a quote on a new one. I called Flash Heating and Home Repair for a second opinion. Nat came out and found the crack, but it was much smaller than Western had claimed. Nat also gave us quotes on new furnaces, beating Western by about 40%. To replace our old 80% efficiency furnace with a newer, more efficient model required a new PVC exhaust system as opposed to the existing metal one. Flash included this as part of the quote, but Western didn't bring it up which made us feel like their high estimate included some surprises down the road. We called Western again to see if they would meet Flash Heating's quote and they stated that smaller companies weren't typically trained and certified and that the installation would likely be an issue if we went with Flash Heating. I read the 50 or so reviews on Flash Heating and only found one that mentioned new furnace installation and the reviewer didn't include any details. We ended up deciding that if the repair reviews were so positive, they must know their stuff. We went with Flash and purchased a 96% efficient furnace with a 2 stage gas nozzle and a variable speed motor, for about the same price Western quoted us on an 80% efficient motor with no modern technology upgrades. (By the way, I did a present value calculation on the savings we'd receive on a more efficient furnace and found that we could justify an additional $3800 on a more efficient furnace. That's more than the entire quote we received from Flash.) Nat brought an assistant the day of the big job. They took their time and made my entire system look better than it had before. Replacing the filter in my old system had always been an issue. I didn't identify it before and it wasn't part of the estimate, but they replaced the filter portion of the duct system and made it easy to access. The PVC work was exceptional and professional. The metal work was perfect. They really knew what they were doing! The job ended up taking them longer than they had anticipated, and I appreciated their attention to detail. It would've been easy for them to cut corners to finish the job on time or early, but they didn't. Through the whole process they remained professional and courteous. There are not enough vents in my home so I asked Nat about cutting out a couple of extra vents. He stated that he could and added them to the job without adjusting the estimate. The new vents were straight forward and it may not be the case that he'd be able to do that for every job, but he did it for us and it made me feel like I was getting a great deal on an exceptional job. The installation also came with a new wifi thermostat - a nice surprise. We had worried about the warranty, but the manufacturer's warranty exceeded that of the equipment Western had chosen for us. Nat also provided a 2 year, no-worries warranty that is not typical in the heating industry. If anything happens to our system in the next 2 years, I have full confidence that Nat will take care of it and that we will not receive a bill for parts or labor. In all ways I found dealing with Flash Heating and Home Repair a positive experience. We came away feeling like Western had used scare tactics on us and that Flash Heating had been open and honest with us. Hands down I would use Flash Heating again. I will update this review over time. read more
