More like a 2.5 but I'll round up to a 3. Went here during a big Chinatown festival and was surprised it was pretty empty. Ordered a mango boba tea half sugar low ice, plus popcorn chicken and sausages to go. The boba tea was just standard boiled boba with no extra sweetness or infusion. If you like less sweet drinks this might work for you, but it felt pretty plain. They also use powdered flavoring instead of fresh fruit, which brings it down a notch. Food was better. Definitely Taiwanese street food style. The popcorn chicken had that classic crispy coating and seasoning, just a bit toned down in flavor. Same with the sausage, slightly sweet and savory but not as bold as I expected. Portions were very generous though, you get a lot for the price. Service was the main issue. The staff, who seemed like the owner, was very short and came off rude. I saw it happen to the people in front of me too, so I kept it quick and did not ask many questions. The space itself is also kind of dark and gloomy, but it is quiet if you want to sit and talk. Even though I ordered everything to go, it was not really acknowledged. When my food was ready, the owner actually came up and almost took my order away as if it was not mine. I had to stop him and point out each item line by line on my receipt to prove it was my order because he forgot. I understand food theft happens, but it made the whole interaction feel really awkward and uncomfortable. They also only give small brown paper sandwich bags for takeout, so if you have a bigger order, bring your own bag. Forever my go-to Boba place in Philadelphia! Being a few blocks from the China town entrance makes it easy to get to. Plus with its proximity to Reading Terminal market and Main street, it's worth a visit. The drinks are good, menu is easy to follow, and the seating area is comfortable and cute. I ordered the hot Vivi Milk Tea with Boba on my last visit and enjoyed it. I said this in my past review, but the hot boba during winter is a necessity. And I almost always grab their takoyaki as a snack; while that dish has become more available over the years, ViVi has amazing takoyaki. The staff is always very nice, and service is fairly quick. Customers are always there, business is steady to busy for them, so quick service is important, and they succeed! Came here with my boyfriend after walking around Reading Terminal and craving bubble tea. Service was fast and we got a large brown sugar milk bubble tea and taro creme brulee tea. Both had milk caps which were pretty good and my boyfriend enjoyed his though I thought it was weirdly chewy in texture like you were swallowing small pieces of cake. Drinks were amazing as expected, bubbles were soft and chewy. The fruit tea had lots of fruit and jelly. Popcorn chicken was moist and really well cooked. The takoyaki was disappointing to me. There's a lot to choose from on the menu, so I tend to get something different each time. Vivi's a great place to meet up with friends, go on a date, or even quietly do work in the corner when there's not a whole lot of chatty people around. There's plenty of space in the back to sit down and relax with a drink or two (or more). The last few times I went, I wanted to get the Blue Galaxy but failed. Because pretty colors... This time around though, I finally got to try it. It tastes as beautiful as it looks. Think lychee-citrus slushie, with a dusky sunset profile. I don't really like the other things on the menu either but their decor and hanging out here is always really excellent, including this location. I'd usually give Vivi a 4 overall, but not here. What was unique about this shop tho was that they had a machine that shakes their tea for them which I thought was pretty cool, it makes sure that the drinks are well shaken and mixed!
