Shhhhhhh I don't want people to really know about this place because it might change or we won't be able to get a table. Location right off Navona is major touristy but they've managed to have a place with great fresh food. Decent prices. Caprese was perfect with lots of cheese ripe tomatoes too. Gazpacho was perfect. Bright. Yummy. Amazing croutons. Had the soup before. Couple different salads. Always fresh and delicious. How can you give a place one star when you didn't like the coffee service? They're busy and do their best. The food is perfect. Period.

Very lovely cafe on the piazza Navona! If you're lucky, the window table has the best view of the beautiful piazza. In the afternoon, with a hot chocolate and I can do people watching for hours!!! more details on my blog: https://www.gustobeats.com/best-places-to-eat-in-rome-for-a-3-day-rome-itinerary/

My husband had to use the restroom badly and the museo di Roma suggested we try this place. They were super friendly even though we only asked for the restroom. Since I was waiting I ordered a latte macchiato. At the bar, it's only 1.70 euros. Pretty good as well.

The food looks good but the service is honestly a bit rude and not quick at all.

Fresh squeezed juice and the pastries are tasty. Outdoor seating available as well. I had the Cannelloni and we tried the Ravioli as well. Both were delicious. On International Women's Day we stopped here with my parents and our 4-year-old daughter after walking around Trastevere. We ordered espresso for everyone and sat outside. Our daughter had a small tiramisu we bought at another shop a few minutes earlier. Within seconds the owner stormed out and started shouting at us aggressively about the tiramisu. Not explaining. Not asking politely. Just yelling. We tried to explain that we had ordered drinks and were paying customers, but instead of behaving like someone who runs a hospitality business, he escalated the situation into a loud public confrontation. Then his younger partner came out and joined the shouting. Two grown men screaming at a family with a small child in the middle of a tourist street. At that point our 4-year-old daughter started crying because she was scared by the way they were yelling at us. What was the reaction of the owner when he saw a child crying? Did he calm down? Did he apologize? Did he show even basic human decency? No. He kept yelling and demanding we leave. Rome is one of the most welcoming cities in the world and during our entire trip we met wonderful, kind people everywhere. This place was the only exception. If you are a tourist or a family with children, do yourself a favor and choose literally any other café in Trastevere. There are hundreds of them. Hospitality clearly isn't practiced here.

Their breakfast selection is incredible -- a wide variety of fresh, beautifully crafted pastries that taste just as good as they look. The cappuccinos are perfectly made, rich and balanced, exactly what you'd expect in Italy. What makes this place even more special is that it's not just for mornings. In the afternoon, it transforms into the perfect spot to enjoy a relaxed aperitivo in a lovely, cozy setting. The service truly stands out -- the staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and always smiling, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. I was disappointed with the bread and cookies we purchased. It's difficult to do everything well. Perhaps narrowing on one specialty is best, but I'm old school. I miss the days of the fruit store, the formaggi shop, the wine merchant, etc. Everyone was lovely at Il Gianfornaio, and reminded me of how my American education was lacking. I can only speak English and a smattering of French. The merchants at Il Gianfornaio spoke English better than me. That was embarrassing.
