Located in the St. Regis hotel is this restaurant, Vivendo. The restaurant itself is quite large but I would still recommend making reservations for prime hours on Fridays and Saturdays (you should be fine on off hours and the other days of the week). The decor is old world meets new world with a pianist playing in the background.
The menu is fairly small - you can do a full tasting menu or just order al la carte. I ordered their two vegetarian options for dinner, both were tasty and unique. They also have quite an extensive wine list that will surely catch your eye.
What was most memorable about Vivendo was the fantastic service (and not just by Italian standards) we received. The manager I believe was the person helping us and he repeatedly checked up on us, was warm and inviting and had a great sense of humor. Although a restaurant like this can seem stuffy (suits and ties on most men), the feel was actually very relaxed and welcoming.
Bottom line, this is a great option when you're staying at the St. Regis and want something that's decent and not too far away. read more
