First impressions--parking is definitely a challenge. The lot is really small and hard to find a spot. However, once you step inside, the AC is blasting, which is super refreshing, especially on a hot day. The place overall looks clean and well-kept, but our table hadn't been wiped down when we sat, so I had to ask for a rag to clean it myself--that's definitely a point off in my book. There were quite a few people coming in and out for pickup orders, and I liked that they have a self-order screen right when you walk in for convenience. The vegan meats had solid flavor and were pretty close to the real thing, especially when it came to those classic Mexican seasonings. Customer service was just okay nothing terrible, but nothing memorable either. It got the job done, but didn't really add to the experience. One downside was the pricing. There used to be another vegan business in this exact location. I forgot the name of it but they used to serve pizza and Italian fare. The food is good. It was nice to be able to enjoy some vegan ramen. There's a a lot of vegan Mexican spots in SoCal and I've tried a good amount of it, so that's how I'm reviewing this, in that context. I would eat here if I was in the area, but wouldn't go outta the way for it. Mostly for it being outta the way and I know where I can get better food closer to home. Came here today to have lunch with a friend and I'm surprised that I haven't been here before. I remember when this location was a vegan pizza place but I'm not sure when it became a vegan taco place. Overall the food was good. The jamaica was bomb, better than the horchata imo. The birria quesadilla was my favorite thing but I did not like the consommé. The consomme was like water, no flavor. i thought I was tripping but my friend tried it and without me telling her what I thought, she said the same thing. I was a frequent customer but after my visit on 4/11 and 4/12 I won't be returning. I ordered the quesabirria taco plate and an avocado sauce that I paid extra for, all for to-go. I live 30 minutes away so it's an 1 hour round trip there and back to my house. When I get home there is no avocado sauce and the box wasn't closed properly so the beans spilled over everything and was all over the bag. I called and spoke with a man who also took my order and offered to have the plate remade. Since they closed in less that 30 minutes and I was 30 minutes away I told him I couldn't come back tonight and he mentioned that they would hold the ticket for me. I arrive the very next day and speak to the manager, a woman, and she offers to have the beans and rice replaced along with the avocado sauce but not the quesabirria tacos. I mentioned that I wouldn't have drove all this way for rice and beans as the impression was that the plate was to be remade. She mentions that the quesabirria tacos cost extra and she wasn't going to replace them. So I had to order a whole other plate and spend another $20 something dollars when I was told that they would remake the whole plate. The tacos were soo greasy not crunchy at all due to the amount of grease and the beans were very bland. Only the rice was decent. And the rice & beans portions were less than I had the previous day. I'm writing a review because management doesn't seem to really care about the customer's experience. I see this manager, the woman, not sure of her name but as she is respectful she isn't friendly or nice. I felt that she thought I was trying to get free food so she was a bit rude and less respectful than previous encounters. I really don't like people like that touching my food so I won't be coming back after coming here since they opened years ago. Not unless management changes. I've had my eye on viva vegan forever, and they started offering delivery through Uber eats to my house. Naturally, I had to give them a try knowing they're a little far from me, but despite that, the food arrived warm and delicious. I ordered pastor nachos and a horchata for me, and I got fries for my toddler. Right after I ordered, I got the notification that they were out of horchata. So sad! It must be super popular. I'll try it next time, no worries. The pastor nachos had the perfect ratio of chips to toppings, which I appreciated. The chips were still crunchy after their half hour commute to me. The vegan pastor was homemade and had the perfect texture. I highly recommend it. There was a lot of pico on top, a lot of beans on the bottom, and the green salsa was on the side as I requested. The cheese sauce was also a great consistency. I really appreciate that they make their own cheese sauce as opposed to offering shredded vegan cheese; it came together well with all of the ingredients. The portion of nachos was huge and I couldn't finish it, despite being super hungry. I gave it my best try though. My daughter likes the fries. They seemed to be seasoned heavily with pepper, which I wasn't sure if she was going to enjoy, but she ate them up! She also tried some nachos and enjoyed my food too. Overall, I had a great experience ordering delivery from viva vegan. I will definitely order again because they have long standing Uber eats promotions that help to cut down the cost. I was surprised when I arrived at the restaurant and realized it was housed in the former location of another vegan restaurant, Vegan Korner. Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by an employee. After looking at the menu. I decided to ordered a loaded quesadilla and a single quesabirria taco. My coworkers ordered a taco plate, a chimichanga, and a pulled pork sandwich on sourdough bread with fries and coleslaw. We also ordered water to accompany our food and when the employee accidentally spilled one of the waters, he employee quickly wiped it up. The food was quickly delivered, was flavored well, and delicious. I was happy to eat this restaurant and elated that my non vegan coworkers liked the food good and one coworker even took her remaining food in a to go box. The only slight annoyance is that restaurant space inside is a little cozy with two booth and a side table but other than that, it was an enjoyable experience overall. My tacos were all grease. A ice cream size scoop of beans and rice. They had me pay Apple Pay. knew something was wrong when they charged me for the food and no sales tax. Anytime you go to a restaurant there's sales tax so she's not charging sales tax. She probably doesn't even have a permit to be doing pop-ups because it's very fishy and it's a secluded area it's an commercial industrial area so there's not gonna be any health inspectors going there. Everybody's been forewarned before going to this establishment. Once again the cook does not wash his hands and there is no hand sanitizer either on the table where he cooks. What he did is, he reached into an ice box that they store cold cokes in it, and he got a piece of ice washed rubbed it on his hands with no soap and then he started cooking. I can't believe I didn't know about this place! My coworkers invited me and now I'll keep this on my frequent often list. I've be been trying to figure out how I feel about this place. All I can come up with is that "I can't believe it's vegan." Genuinely didn't miss any of the traditional flavors that one might assume would be missing at a vegan restaurant. Service was great, food preparation was fast, but there are only three tables available for dine-in. Our table was coming off its hinges, I'm surprised I didn't flip the table-- I'd be the one to make that spectacle happen. I got the OG bottom plate and it was delicious. My only complaint is that the birria was too oily; it was quite heavy despite the lime, cilantro and onion condiments to pair down the heaviness. Salsa was good and the tortillas could have been a little more done-- I like a mild burn on them. Overall, this establishment will be added to my favorite local spots. I was looking for a good vegan Mexican food restaurant on my way to Redlands for business. I read some of the reviews of Viva Vegan and was curious to try it. I was the day's first customer, and I was greeted when I entered. Viva Vegan is located in a small business lot, but there is ample parking. I ordered the three-taco combo but really wanted to try the birria tacos. The nice lady at the counter said she could substitute one of them in my taco order. My food came out quickly, and the tacos looked great alongside some beans and rice. There was also a red and green salsa included. I was amazed at how good these tacos tasted. A lot of homemade soul went into the preparation of the taco vegan meat, and the touch of cilantro/onion and green sauce was the icing on the cake. I have been to many Mexican restaurants with vegan selections and a few that are vegan only in the OC and Riverside area. This place is hands down the best authentic/rustic place I have ever enjoyed dining at. I only regret that I forgot to ask for some of the birria dipping sauce. The salsas were spot on. I will try the birria selections next time for sure. I live about an hour away, but I will be making more drives in the future to this gem of a place. Firstly, the sauces tasted amazing - probably the best salsas I've ever tasted, as my partner and I have tried a number of different Mexican restaurants. I ordered the orange salsa and it came with 2 other sauces which were packed with amazing flavor with a good amount of spice. The asada "meat" tasted dry and didn't have much flavor, and it tasted very earthy. The chilaquiles were good, it came as expected. The fries with the al pastor however, I did not really like. The "meat" was similar to the other veggie meat, dry and earthy with not much flavor to it. Overall, I think I would come again to try something else. I was impressed by their salsas and their ingredients tasted very fresh. Out of the 3 items I tried, I preferred the tacos, but I hope to have a better tasting "meat". The rice was cooked wonderfully and the portions are quite generous, you can make 2 meals out of it. Definitely can't miss out on the consomé, it's very savory! I'll have to stop by again before I leave the area, cause you can't really find this anywhere else. I ordered on 10/12/23 at 1:30pm and got a rude service from the cashier when I asked when the price of the item was changed. Their Jackfruit is now a dollar extra same as the birra for your protein. When I asked when this price changed the cashier told me it's been like that since they open. When I told him I've been coming since it opened here in Colton and even before and yes it's been an added dollar for birra but not jackfruit, he told me I was wrong and it's always been like that. This place is amazing! We stopped here for a quick dinner before a concert at Yaamava theater. I had been to this location many years ago when it had been inhabited by Cheezy Pizza which later became Vegan Korner and relocated. I love it when one vegan place moves on and another takes their location, so the vegan option is not lost in that area. My partner had the asada burrito, I had the quesabirria tacos and my friend had the taco combo plate - we all LOVED it! I've been vegan for 11 years, and this was the first time I've ever been able to really experience my old taco shop nostalgia. okay so I rarely write reviews but since I'm always eating plantbased I think I should write reviews of places I really enjoy! This next spot is a solid 4. And I'll def be back when I'm in the area. I liked this place so much I looked it up again and remembered to keep this place in my mind when considering what's next to eat. I had the Crunchwrap 2x from yesterday and today. It was so good the day before and I instantly said solid 4stars when I considered everything. Came back the next day (today) and ordered it again with guac this time which was $3 (not much guac was included for the price) and I don't think I'll order that again unless they change adding more generous guac pours. Besides that, the place was small and clean. Service was friendly and attentive. I was pleased to be welcomed with warmth and that always makes you want to come back. I ordered the same thing from the same staff member and she remembered I asked for an extra salsa the night before and I didn't even ask for it the second time. That was nice of her. Overall def recommend it because the items on the menu look/sound so good. I want to come back and try more stuff and hopefully I can rewrite another review on the next item I purchase. The Crunchwrap wasn't as awesome as it was the first time but I still was pleased. I get it sometimes it doesn't always come out perfect at a restaurant so that didn't change my opinion much but it did cost them a point lol Anyways as you can see in my photos only one half was a little burnt but I didn't complain I just said to myself "F it" and still ate it.
