I was visiting Ocala and stopped in for a pedicure to kill some time. I did not make an appointment and they were able to sit me immediately for a pedicure. I was surprised how busy they were at 10am. I went in with my partner and they sat us side by side. The guy doing the pedicure was great, attention to detail, quick, not super chatty. He cleaned my feet well and asked before he used the scraper (which I declined). He polished my feet THREE times because I messed it up. Even if he was annoyed it didn't show. Prices were typical. No pressure to tip. Overall very friendly nail salon. If I frequented Ocala, I would return! read more

Oh my Gosh, this is the very best salon I've been to. Maria was wonderful and did a great job on my manicure and pedicure. I got the volcano on. AWESOME!!!' DO NOT GO HERE! As soon as you walk in, you're hit with the smell of cigarette smoke. The manager smokes right at the entrance. He's incredibly unprofessional and clearly doesn't care about his clients. When I shared my experience, he showed zero empathy. Tina, my nail tech, ripped off my Gel-X without soaking it, tearing part of my real thumb nail in the process so I told her I'd like to stop and to just take the rest off (professionally). My nails are still hurting two weeks later. She also gave me the worst pedicure I've ever had (I paid for the "Diamond" package, definitely not worth the money). I had a 9AM appointment made for Saturday for a simple French. I showed my nail tech "Thang" the reference picture (2nd picture) and he said it would be no problem. Fast forward 2 hours and 20 minutes, he had only just finished putting on the "base coat" which did not resemble the color in the picture at all. I then told him I did not have time for him to put a French on all of them, as I would have been there well over 3 hours and I had an event to go to. When I checked out the front desk asked me why I didn't get the French I requested. I told her I had been there almost 2.5 hours and did not have time to sit there any longer (see check out time on receipt of 11:26AM). Not to mention, the nail shape alone was not at all what I had shown or asked for - each nail was different shapes and lengths. (because this was the first bad experience I had there, I still tipped Thang $8 for his time and effort) The front desk agreed they were awful and said if I came back the same week I would get them fixed at no charge. Saturday afternoon, not long after leaving the salon, the "top layer" of the polish starts peeling off and wet nail polish starts oozing out of them. I have been getting my nails done for over 15 years and have never had this happen. By Saturday night (same day as application) multiple layers of polish had peeled off (see second to last picture). I called the salon Monday morning and explained the situation and they told me that Tim could fix my nails for me at 3PM. I came in to my appointment and showed the front desk/Tim what I had originally wanted/was supposed to get - and they told me it would be $85. I was shocked. They then told me they would split the difference of what I had already paid and charge me $25. I told them I really did not feel it was right to make me pay, as I was told I would get my nails fixed free charge. I had already spent 2.5 hours there on Saturday, only to end up with nails that looked nothing like what I asked for - but still paid no questions asked. Now I had to get a baby sitter and come back to get them fixed only to be told I would have to pay, AGAIN. Tim told me and the front desk he refused to fix them for anything less than $25. I asked the woman at the front desk to please call the owner as I have had many interactions with him in the past and was sure he would understand my unwillingness to pay again to fix a service that they had screwed up. I was shocked for a second time when the owner was stern on having me pay $25 to get them fixed. After going back and forth, he told me he would take $10 off and I would need to pay $15 and he would pay the difference to Tim from his own pocket. Tim then again shook his head and said he would not do them for that. At this point I told them I was very uncomfortable and did not want someone doing my nails that did not want to do them. I asked if I could just have my money refunded to me and I would leave.They refused to refund my money. After continuing to go back and forth, they found a different nail tech to do my nails for $15, as that was my only option to get them fixed at this point. My appointment was at 3PM and my nails did not get finished until after 6PM. While my nails looked much better, they still did not look like my reference photo. I tipped the nail tech $10 for his time and effort. When I checked out, the manager was there and did not offer an apology, or anything. I was truly shocked and disappointed that after being a loyal customer for so long and spending so much money there, he was not willing to eat the charge of $15 to make it right with me. I know that mistakes are sometimes made and people have off days - which is why I was not too mad about the original awful nail job - it's about how those problems are handled and remedied. With that being said, Viva nails has now lost a loyal customer over $15, on top of my friends and family members that I used to recommend to go there, and earned themselves this review. After looking at their other most recent reviews, I see my experience was not an isolated one. read more

I made an appointment as a new client for 0930 on a Saturday. I had to ask the receptionist how to choose a color. At 1015 the receptionist took me back to a pedicure chair and apologized for the wait, blaming it on tomorrow being Easter Sunday. I sat with my feet in water for half an hour watching everybody else get waited on. By this time, the water was cold and when the receptionist walked by, I asked her how much longer I was going to have to wait and she said somebody will probably be finished in five minutes. I waited five more minutes then I got up and I walked out. On my way out the door. I told the receptionist they could go ahead and disregard me because I was leaving and I would not be back. When I left a review that the salon requested, the minute I hit submit, I got an excuse that they were probably busy so I'm guessing this happens a lot. read more

Wish I could give more stars.. I had a 9:30am appointment for a pedi, I got there almost 10 mins early. I was seated by the front desk girl at 9:30 to soak my feet. Most of the pedi chairs were full even though they had only been open for 30 mins. Apparently my tech had taken a walk-in of a mother and child at 9:00, so he did not get over to me until 9:50am, and by that time the water was cold. When I told him, he tried to add more hot water but the valve stopped working so it was just pouring in straight cold water. He had to switch me to another pedi chair where the water was lukewarm. By this time it was after 10:00 and I ended up having to switch the type of pedi I originally wanted to get because I was running out of time to get to my next appointment. Why bother allowing appointments if you can't stick to the times? The pedi itself was just okay, nothing spectacular, he seemed frazzled and rushed, and I felt he could've done a better paint job but at that point I didn't have the time to ask him to fix it. read more
