I was pleasantly surprised with the baked goods here! Small but varied and interesting assortment. I particularly loved the chocolate tahini muffin - super fluffy and moist. They offer both sweet and savory items and nothing's too sweet. There's coffee and tea as well and other retail items. The space is very cute and they have a couple of tables outside. Staff were friendly and informative. I'd definitely recommend stopping by! .. and probably early since at least one item was already sold out by ~ 9.30am. read more

Now there are three. Vitsky Bakery has to be one of the best bakeries in the Hudson Valley. Mel the Bakery, Bakery Suzanne, and Vitsky Bakery are my top choices, not in any particular order. Part of the reason could be the drive to get to any of these places. Anticipation makes the heart grow fonder or something. The standout was a sandwich made with Churchtown Dairy's Wendell cheese and strawberry jam, salty sweet goodness. The sourdough onion bialy was also very good. Peach danish with pastry cream, yeah, also up there. Shishito pepper danish, cardamom buns, there are all sorts of baked goods to try. The hallmarks, to me, seemed to be the softness of the bakes and the sensitive balance of contrasting flavors and textures. I don't know what kind of alchemy Ariel Yotive (owner/baker) is practicing but she creates cravable (is that even a word) items from simple ingredients. If you're ever in the bustling "city center" of Wassaic, check out Vitsky Bakery. There's plenty of outdoor seating and some very good carby items to eat. read more

Super tasty pastries! Would eat anything they have. And have driven an hour out of my way to visit.

We have been to Vitsky's a few times and the baked goods have been excellent. Today, we shared a black currant and custard danish and a cardamon bun. The danish dough was light and tender which other bakeries don't seem to master. In the vanilla custard, black currants popped with sweet, tanginess. And the cardamom bun had just the right amount of cardamon to sweet. We sat on stools looking out to the snowy hill across the way enjoying the view, baked goods, delicious coffee and company. And the staff is always welcoming! Can't wait to return soon. read more

Every weekend our crew takes a short pilgrimage to Vitsky. And every weekend Ariel has an assortment of sweet and savory treats to make it worthwhile. Vitsky has our favorite cardamom buns, savory danishes, olive oil teacakes, and croissants in Dutchess County. The puff pastries and focaccia are particularly good. It's a small bakery so items can run out quick. But you'd be a fool not to stop in and see what they have on display. read more

This bakery is everything! I loved that they had goods from local farms and brands around NY and CT! I got the Cardamom Bun and Pretzel Croissant, the pretzel croissant was out of this world delicious!!! I will come back for that pretzel croissant every week!! Delicious sourdough. We were up in the area over the weekend and now just finished our last piece. It's the kind of sourdough that's just a little chewy inside and you want to run home and throw some butter on it. We also purchased a bunch of their other pastries like croissants and muffins and yup, all delicious. My next trip up North I'll make sure I make it back for some more. The combination of that bread plus some wonderful avocados that we brought made for some amazing avocado toast. (see the attached picture). read more

Open just 3 days a week, in a slick modernized space within the cutesy historic cluster of buildings in "downtown" Wassaic, making the touristic and cultural use of the extension of the MTA Harlem line to the terminus, 1/2 Mile away and the beginning of the Harlem Valley Rail Trail right there. Its biggest neighbor is an informal restaurant bar with similarly limited hours; check both before planning the trip. The savory pretzel topping croissant is as marvelous as advertised, and ethereal, but to eat immediately for best results. Same with babka style croissant. Good coffee and tea. Sweet staff. No bathroom in town which is annoying after a long drive and multiple purchases. read more

Love love love such a great new addition to the small town of wassaic I traveled over 40 minutes from where I live to check this bakery out and it surely did not disappoint and I would travel for 40 minutes again and again. Not only did they have such a variety but each and every treat was so delicious. On top of that, the staff was extremely kind and polite. The store itself is also very cute with a tiny market like area inside with small items to snack on or for your home like a beautiful kettles. read more

The #1 thing about this bakery--aside from the baked goods I tried being delicious--is they have several selections made without sugar. That is very unusual in a bakery. Particularly good was a vegan sourdough focacia with roasted green garlic, topped with parsley & ramp chimichurri. Really nice and moist and flavorful. Plus you're going to love the streamside setting with seating outside. But then Wassaic is so great, anyway. read more

For whatever reason, I was drawn to the homemade signs pointing to this bakery and pulled off the road to check it out. The tiny little town should be a movie set! The bakery is definitely avant-garde and bought a whole wheat loaf of sourdough bread. Sooooo good! I love small town America and the people who make it such! This bakery is amazing! We went for the first time two weeks ago. By the time we arrived, everything was sold out except for one chocolate chip and a few molasses-type cookies. They were delicious. The owner is incredibly sweet, opening the doors for us and letting us browse around as she closed down for the day. That was the start of one of those rare, magical days when everything somehow goes your way. Among other items, she stocks jams, candles, apothecary items, soaps, and even gorgeous quilts from a local artist. It's a small selection but the items are all beautiful--natural, simple, and locally sourced, with lovely packaging. The aesthetic of the space heightened the experience for us even more--it's airy, beautiful, and filled with light. Vitsky Bakery is a gem in the Hudson Valley-- definitely worth the ride! Met Emma at Vitsky Bakery for the first time. We ordered the lemon and peach bun, a croissant with cheddar cheese, tomato, with mustard, a focaccia with tomato and garlic, and the eggplant, zucchini sandwich. EVERYTHING was delicious. The croissant so flaky and delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the focaccia. We had the sandwiches for lunch and had wished we bought two more for dinner; the roll was so crisp and chewy, the filling delicious with just the right amount of aioli. It was busy, but the line moved quickly. We were surprised at how large and welcoming the store was and all the products available. It's a little off the beaten path, but totally worth looking for!
