I happened upon this place as I was touring downtown and I was really excited to check it out. It's a really nice place and it's obvious that a lot has gone into creating the ambiance in the shop. I know absolutely nothing about cigars but I love to learn new things and I was eager to see if I could learn a thing or two about cigars. It quickly became painfully obvious that the gentleman who attempted to help me and I were not on the same page. I wanted to buy a single cigar as a gift (which based on his reaction I gather might have been an odd request) and I asked for his recommendation. He responded by saying he couldn't make a recommendation without knowing what the person liked. I can understand that so I said, "he's not a big cigar smoker so I think anything you recommend would be great." He then asked for my budget and I asked what the range as I was willing to spend a good amount of money on something worthwhile. He responded, "anywhere from $4 to $35 per cigar, depending on what you buy." I responded, "how about something in the middle of the road, what would you recommend?" He again proceeded to explain that he couldn't make a recommendation without knowing anything about the person and said it would be a "shot in the dark." At this point, I could tell he was becoming annoyed so I made the decision to just leave instead. I live in Austin, and I constantly brag about how amazing my hometown, El Paso, is because of the friendly people and culture. Never did I imagine coming across an establishment where they would turn their nose up at my lack of knowledge of the product but maybe that's just me being naive. I assumed that purchasing a cigar was similar to purchasing wine, which boasts a wide range of quality and a million different flavor profiles, but I guess I was wrong in that assumption. I think what bothered me was that even a winery can make a recommendation with very little knowledge of the person it's for, why couldn't a cigar shop? This place seems really great and my rating is based on what I saw as a missed opportunity to gain a new customer by dropping some real cigar knowledge. So, if you are a cigar connoisseur, by all means please stop by this establishment as I'm sure you're the ideal customer, but if you are inexperienced and lack a general knowledge of cigars, steer clear as it seemed they have no interest in helping you start your cigar journey. Awesome place. Great whiskey selection, great cigars and great host - Fernando. It is tough to find a great lounge that serves cocktails with cigars. This is the place. One of El Paso's true hidden gems... Vitola's, where attention to detail, quality, and exceptional service come together as one. To put it lightly I absolutely, 100% love this place. This is my go to spot, where I can escape the hustle and bustle of life, and find myself in an establishment that cares as much about their buildings history, as they do their customers. Fernando makes each and every one of my experiences exceptional, along with his care to detail in making the proper drink. Try the Sazerac, made with Absinthe, it's my favorite. Make no mistake about it, this is a cigar bar that serves the finest whiskey, and screams of service. They have a good selections of cigars, they carry beer, but the whiskey is definitely at the top of the food chain here. You can watch sports, talk, read, play games, have a quiet drink, or enjoy the upstairs bar with friends. If you choose to walk past this place you're making a huge mistake, but if you happen to explore your way inside, allow yourself to be treated like royalty. 5-stars all the way!!! read more

Vitola's is a true cigar lounge. If you want a classy and welcoming atmosphere, give Vitola's a visit. The staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful. They can lead you in the right direction whether it be in regards to finding a whiskey or a cigar out of their incredible humidor. Even if you want to just come down to learn more about the place, just ask a staff member and they'll show you the bar, the humidor and the entire lounge. If I could give this establishment 6 stars, I would. I definitely recommend Vitola's. Swing by for date night or just to hang out with likeminded people! I love this place! The cocktails are ridiculously​delicious. The cigar I picked was a little old but the staff is great and helpful. I thought it was strange to start a tab down stairs when we're hanging out upstairs. If you like whiskey and cigars this will hit the spot. I would of stayed all night but they close at midnight. read more
