The massage therapist was dirty, the place was dirty They locked the door when we went in for the couples massage that didn't have the champagne that was supposed to be included. There were multiple lighters on the desk. There was no parking, the place says closed online. This place should not be running. It was creepy. You should not walk into a place feeling uncomfortable and a shady business. I had to pick a star to post this but it seriously doesn't deserve one. I'm giving Vitality a tentative 4.5 until the next time we go as I don't always like to dole out an initial 5. I purchased a Couples' Massage for my mom for either her birthday or Mother's Day. I can't remember because one week it's her birthday and then typically the following week it's Mother's Day. But anyway that's besides the point. I got her the Couples' Massage because I get to go too. Plus she is less likely to go alone. First things first I started to get nervous after these reviews started pouring in how they were unreliable. We did not experience any unreliability here. Someone also said they need to learn how to speak English. Well that's funny too because there was absolutely NO way a language barrier here. Yes the spa and outside was a little noisy. Yes the siren went off for the Fire House. But by jove... Things happen and we both enjoyed our massages. So much so that they offered us the Groupon price to come back again and we took it! We were also told we can refer people and they will get the Groupon deal as well. Yes the place is nothing to look at on the outside but the massage was wonderful. i was looking for couples massages that were fairly affordable on groupon, and i came across this spa. i went on their website and realized that it was actually cheaper to buy it from there, rather than groupon -- by a few bucks, but still.. i had seen reviews about how they had trouble using the groupon so i figured i'll just buy it from the site. i sent an email to schedule an appointment, and nobody ever responded. i called them multiple times and left a message and nobody responded until a few days later i received a call back. We went inside and were surprised at how small and makeshift it was. it seemed super unprofessional, and not the most welcoming. the only person there was this older lady who didn't really understand what we were saying, or the fact that we paid already. after a little bit, after a lot of questioning of our voucher, we went inside the massaging room where the guy asked us to strip down and get under the blankets on the tables. we were supposed to get strawberries and champagne ... needless to say we did not get them. no questions were asked before the massage, and they just started. i had the lady who was doing nothing more than just pressing on my body, and she was really hurting me when she'd decide to actually do something, as she would put a lot of pressure on my bone... not my muscle...... she also was blasting some sort of music the whole time which was definitely the farthest thing from relaxing. when i turned over on my back she placed a cloth over my face ... wtf lol. also, she was not covering me fully. my chest was fully exposed a couple of times and i should not have to worry about that period, let alone when another man is in the room. no apologies or acknowledgment about that either. she was pulling my underwear as high as possible and going underneath it on my butt. when i was on my back, she "massaged" me very close to and on my pubic area. when they left and we got dressed, we couldn't wait to leave. they handed us a cup of water only filled like 1/4 of the way up. then the lady harassed us for not leaving a tip. she said you leave us nothing? you don't take care of us you leave us nothing? .. i said we didn't feel great about it and we don't feel right tipping you. we felt uncomfortable and don't need to tip you. not to mention that we almost left before it started because of how off the vibes were. truly so much to say and i don't care to spend more energy on this place by writing more, but moral of the story... don't go here read more

Had a living social deal for a couples massage since valentines day and finally got an appointment a week before it expired in June. It was my first massage as well as my boyfriends and we had a great experience. There were just a few minor disturbances such as the man mowing the lawn next door or the lotion bottle making a squirt sound and my massage therapist kept sniffling. But there was nothing wrong with my massage, it was very relaxing and it felt great. They had cups of water and bananas waiting for us when we got out and they offered us a deal for another couples massage. Pretty awful reviews for this spot and I can't imagine why as we just visited yesterday afternoon and my husband and I both really enjoyed our couple's massage. I purchased a Living Social deal back in December or January. I realized early that it's very difficult to get an appointment here which is fine because it was a great deal. With my husband's unpredictable work schedule, I had to cancel our initial appointment in April. I explained to the woman on the phone what was going on and I was afraid I would lose the voucher since it expired May 26th and they had no openings until June. Thankfully, she assured me that we could come when my husband had vacation in July and that's what we did. Someone called to confirm (as they did with the initial appointment) the day before and the dude had an accent. Who fing cares??!! Last I checked this is NY and if you have a problem with people's accents then you best go somewhere that isn't made up of immigrants. (Sorry, had to vent regarding another reviewers obnoxious "I can't understand ppl who's English isn't their first language" BS. Ugh.) On to more important things... the place from the outside is very small and it doesn't look like much. No parking lot but we found street parking really fast so that wasn't an issue. When you walk in it still doesn't look like much but the massage room was clean, big and smelled of mint from the oil diffuser. Just the perfect setting to relax and get you ready to be rubbed down. There was champagne and strawberries out for us. Jennifer was my masseuse and her pressure was PERFECT. I have never received the perfect pressure from a masseuse before! I didn't get the name of the gentleman who worked on my husband but hubs loved it. They were professional and great at what they do. I would give a 5 but I didn't like Jennifer trying to sell us another deal on our way out. "If you book now, we can guarantee a spot for you soon and you know our appointments fill up quickly..." It would have been better had she wrote the prices down and asked us to give her a call back. After our great massages, all we wanted to do was collect ourselves, not walk into a sales pitch. I was nervous at first and extremely terrified but when i walked in I was immediately greeted by a woman & two of the woman performing the massages. We got a glass of champagne each and some strawberries, we got 4 strawberries and some Hershey kisses. I thought that was a little cheesy, but the massage was amazing. Jen did such a good job & my fiancée told me that Joana did a great job as well. They gave us privacy before and privacy after the massage. I feel so much more relaxed now, and Jen would always ask me if I need her to go softer or if the pressure was too little. I'm up for the summer visiting from FL and bought a Groupon deal for this day spa and went for a massage with Sonya, she was very good. The place is a very small old two room house next to the Fire House, be prepared for the noon blasts to go off! There is no parking at all. No central a/c and I must have been the first appointment because it was near 90* inside and I had to ask for the a/c to be put on in the back room. I also had to ask for aromatherapy oil and a leg bolster. It was a dump, but the massage was so good with Sonya who said she was also a Physical Therapist, I made a follow up appointment when I was leaving because the owner told me if I paid that day, I could get the same Groupon rate. I booked for the following Monday with Sonya. When I went to that appointment, Sonya came out of the massage room and told me she just started someone else. I said how can you have someone else when I booked this appointment a week ago and prepaid for it? She just looked at me blankly and never even apologized. I booked all my appointments for the day around that massage. Sonya said she could only take me at 1:00 when I had a lunch appointment. I was pevved and said forget it and walked out. Later, I called the owner, Lucy, who said she didn't know what happened, Sonya only had two appointments on the book that day and one was me! Lucy,the owner, told me she would give me two massages to make up for the inconvenience to me. I accepted and she told me to call back later and she would book me the following Monday. I called back later that day and left a message, I called again,, no answer, no call backs. On Saturday, I called and said I had no idea what time to come Monday. Lucy did not call me back. On Sunday I called and said I was going to post a negative review on Yelp and contact my bank for fraud. She called me back and said she was booked solid for the next two weeks and could not fit me on the schedule anywhere. Terrible! I bought a groupon for a facial. I doubt they have any training at all! Dirty and not relaxing. They used kitchen sponges to clean my face after smearing it with honey?! Instead of massaging my neck and head, like all other facials I ever had, they rubbed my hands for a minute with lotion?? The extractions were so intense that I had puffy red spots on my face for 2 days. There is no parking lot. The second time I went the massage therapist did not seem very experienced, and spent a lot of time fussing with the blanket folds etc and not really massaging me. I got a good deal for a couples therapy on Groupon, I saved about $60 or so. For the money I paid, the massage was very relaxing and worth the money. Had I paid full price for the service I would've been a little disappointed, so I was content with what I actually paid. To begin, its a small facility and it's nothing fancy. If you are someone who likes a big spa with amenities and looking for something lavish, this is not the place for you. The place does seem outdated but I came for a massage not for the decor. We were led into a room with two beds and were told to undress. The polite lady gave us time to unwind and lay down, she knocked twice before entering. Two women came in and put on some relaxing music. They were very nice and gave sufficient amount of attention to each component of my back, legs and arms. They chatted here and there with us without being overly talkative and asked if I wanted her to work on any specific areas. By the end of our session, we couldn't believe it had already been an hour. When I got up, my back felt amazing and I felt very relaxed. The ladies were great and gave incredible service. The reason I did not give 5 stars is because on my Groupon, and even on their Valentine's day special, customers were supposed to be offered champagne and chocolates and we were given neither. And although the massage room was not overly crowded and felt like a good size, the facility itself is a bit small. Overall, worth what I paid. Made an appointment and was able to get the Groupon deal through them instead of purchasing it through Groupon. Upon making the appointment I left a $40 deposit and was told I can pay the other $39 at my appointment time. Unfortunately, my fiance has a very sporadic work schedule and we changed the day and time about 1 1/2 weeks in advance. It was very hard to even get an appointment. As his schedule is never set, we again were going to need to change it and decided to just cancel it for now until he has more set hours. I contacted the spa 4 days in advance to cancel, so as not to be "last minute" and asked for my $40 refund and. The next day I received a call for my original appointment time and explained the situation. After 4 or 5 calls, "Lucy" called me back yelling that I didn't cancel and was trying to pull a last minute thing, then realized that she was wrong and that I had in fact changed it. I was told they would be closed until Tuesday and to call Tuesday and that I can pick up cash. I called Tuesday to confirm she would be there to receive my refund since issuing to a credit card that had been cancelled due to fraud was too much for her to comprehend. I arrived Tuesday evening and was given a check for $39 refund. I didn't have the energy to waste more time on them over the $1. The "Lucy" person wasn't even there. Overall a very rude, unprofessional establishment. We won't be trying to go back there. No clue how their spa services are. read more

Great massage from Monica! Bought a Groupon for $40 hour massage and what a deal it turned out to be! Monica was very sweet and professional. Yes the place is small but people must understand that massage therapists do not make a fortune and finding an affordable space to rent is difficult if you don't work for a large fancy spa or chain such as Massage Envy. Most therapists even rent a small room in an office building or work out of their home so Yelpers need to relax a bit on the size of the office. I thought it was cute, clean and professional. It's just an old house. Getting back to the actual massage... Monica was great. Gave me ample time to undress and get situated. Super soft blanket covered me and music was relaxing. She had me inhale an essential oil on her hands to relax me before commencing and I loved that. She was very thorough and paid attention to all areas equally. I wish I would've told her that I'd like my head massaged as that is where I hold all my tension but I didn't and that was my fault. I'm not a talker when getting a massage and she picked up on that and only spoke to ask me if the pressure was ok. I loved that. What I give her a lot of credit for is not mentioning my tattoo sleeve when she got to that arm. I can tell that she spent a little more time on that arm and was checking it out but mentioned nothing. Stayed professional and I respect that. Offered me water at the end of the massage to flush out toxins. She even offered me the $40 Groupon price next time I book with her so that sold me on the place! I WILL be back! * Side note: the only thing I would've changed was the volume of the music. Do not ever go here. #1- she used her finger nails instead of a blackhead remover tool without any steaming or hot towel to open my pores (ouch! I am all red with little indents all over my face) I can rip my skin open with my own fingernails at home. #2- something broke and fell right on my face and she didn't even say sorry. She just said "shit". Real professional. #3- it was supposed to be an hour facial and it was only 45 minutes. What a joke. I am a licensed Massage Therapist so I am definitely familiar with the way a spa should run. I purchased an Amazon Local deal for $39. I had to call several times getting just a voicemail in order to make an appointment and when I finally got someone on the phone my appointment had to be scheduled for 2 weeks later. Vitality Spa itself is a bit run down in my opinion and the way it is set up with the bathroom in between rooms is quite odd. A waiting client is unable to use the restroom while treatments are in session because you'd literally be walking through someone's treatment in order to get to the restroom. Upon arrival the owner, Lucy, was just sitting there, no smile, no real greeting - she almost seemed annoyed that I was there. Lucy nonchalantly handed me my paperwork which requested information consisting of name, number, email, how did you hear about us & a few check off's for pressure preference ($15 for deeper pressure) not exactly the type of intake form I'm used to. But anyway, what stood out more was the attitude of the owner. she was not very friendly to me and as I stated seemed bothered by my presence yet was very welcoming to a client that arrived after me, as it appeared she knew said client and proceeded to converse with her making no attempt to include me (her NEW potential returning client) in the conversation. RUDE!! So once the room was finally open she proceeds to ask client number 2 to come into the room and get changed and I had to interject and remind Lucy that I need to use the now accessible restroom. After using the restroom I had to wait in "the in between" as the other session had started and the previous client was still getting herself out of my room so I was unable to get back to the waiting area and just had to stand and wait until my therapist was ready for me. I then met my therapist, Melissa, very pleasant and sweet. THANKFULLY!! My massage was excellent and I made it clear to Melissa how this experience would've been totally negative for me had she not been as kind, sweet and talented as she was. Luckily for the owner she has a great therapist to offset her negativity and poor accomidations. Maurice and Allyssa, our masseurs, were very professional and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this facility. One downside was that the spa is located on the first floor of a building, in which there are apartments above. They were willing to have me come in to pay for the Groupon deal (full body massage) and did not make me go through groupon. Had my massage today. The place was a bit dated but not the sign of a great massage. Paperwork was quick, walked in and was giving ample time to undress. The room temperature and the blanket was very warm - which I love. My masseuse was Joanna - she was GREAT! She focused on my upper back because she felt a lot of tension. Afterwards they offered another massage at the same groupon rate which I accepted. The only off thing was payment they asked for payment upfront for this massage - I'm used to paying after the services. I went with my girlfriend for a couple's massage and our masseuses were Jen and Kelly. Jen did an amazing job releasing the tightness in my shoulders and back. I'm a biology major at my college so it was interesting to hear the theoretical background that goes into a massage. My girlfriend enjoyed it very much and found it very relaxing. However, when she explained that she had some lower back pain, the masseuse said she would get to it but she may have forgotten, hence the 4 stars. Bad experience. We were admittedly 15 minutes late for our couples massage (traffic!) which we purchased from Living Social but when we arrived no one greeted us or said anything for that matter. They looked at us and walked away into separate rooms. When one of the massage therapist returned we apologized for our lateness but she just sighed and muttered under her breath about "getting such a late start". Very unprofessional. Then I handed them my Living Social voucher which I printed from my computer, but it had a barcode and no voucher number. They rudely said they couldn't accept it (no barcode scanner) and didn't offer any solutions, they just stood there looking at me. I showed them my email which was exactly the way it printed- and the therapist said "Thats because you already redeemed it", which I absolutely had not. I wound up logging in on their computer, and found the voucher number (which was not redeemed). The owner came in and reached in front of my face to use the computer saying "I'll do it! I'll do it!" before I told her I already had the voucher number. That same massage therapist was still muttering to herself saying "Im gonna shoot myself" when the voucher wouldn't print. It was now 1/2 hour past our appointment time and we were told we had to reschedule. I pulled out my calendar to make a new appointment and the owner said she didn't want to reschedule now and would call me in the morning. No thanks. I'll get a refund instead and go to a spa where the staff acts professionally. And as a last note, when I peeked into the massage room- I could hear a dog barking in one of the apartments behind the spa. Not very spa-like. I would never return here again. My son in law bought my daughter & I a gift certificate for a "couples massage". We made the appt. a month in advance, requesting 2 female therapist ( I was very strong on this). When we arrived, we were greeted by a woman that was not professionally dressed and a tall black man who told us they" we're going to do our massages". When we got into the room I called the woman "Jennifer" over and privately told her we requested 2 females she said she would see if she could do us back to back and reschedule her next appt. with that the Owner came in and was the most nastiest, rudest, business person I have ever met!!!! She said "no I'm not" judging by the over all appearance of this place, it was small, unprofessional and dirty. The owner was rude and my guess...the therapist were not licensed! A business like this should be investigated I give this ""spa" AKA DUMP. a minus 10 stars !!!!! I am giving this Spa only 1-star even though I never actually experienced any of their spa services.  I purchased a Groupon to use at this Spa and had a very difficult time trying to make an appointment.  I called several times over the course of 3 days during their working business hours (as posted on their website).  The first two days of calling multiple times no one answered the phone and I was transferred to another phone number's voice mail.  Since the voice mail was not professional and only consisted of your typical standard automated machine greeting of repeating the phone number you called and asking to leave a message after the tone, I was skeptical and did not leave a message.  On the third day I finally got someone to answer the phone on my second attempt.  Success, or so I thought.  I attempted to make an appointment for a couples massage but the woman told me that she didn't have her appointment book with her and recommended that I call back in an hour or two.  Everything about this place seems sketchy and I question the quality of massage they are capable of. read more

Received a groupon for a couples massage as a gift. Did have some issues making the appointments initially as stated in other reviews, therefore only 4 stars. I ended up going there in person twice as I had to change initial appointment due to scheduling conflict. That said, I feel that it was a small price to pay as the massage experience itself was absolutely wonderful! Both my husband and I really enjoyed it ... champagne and strawberries, lovely setting, soothing music, and fantastic massage therapists. We will go back! read more

I agree with all of the negative posts. The scariest part was that I really believe they were not certified. The therapist made wrong movements that got me worried. It was all rubbing and the use of the elbow. The elbow crossed my spine a few times!! Don't waste your money. Other minor thing: Lights were bright, they were dressed unprofessional, very loud atmosphere. read more

Called to make appt no one answered or called back for months finally got through and told us they wouldn't take Groupon at all and dont have any spots for 3 months find that hard to believe when they have such terrible reviews read more
