I've been donating blood as often as possible for the last five years. I've had bad experiences in…read morethe past, from things like drinking little water, not eating right, you name it. Overall a lack of knowledge. But within these five years I've learned from those mistakes. So, when things go wrong with donating blood I look at myself first and then I look at the overall experience. Today I donated blood and this is my second or third time donating at this Center. Don't get me wrong, these people are very kind and they will give you their best southern hospitality, with loud conversations and all. But when it comes to professionalism and awareness, I think they have to do better. Every time I go in there they are loud and rambunctious, and as medical type center I think it's necessary to remain calm and controlled especially when you can have patients who may not be as desensitized as other long time donors. When I went in today of course everyone was chatting with each other being as friendly and rambunctious as I've seen in the past. And I don't really care about that as long as I'm treated properly with basic human respect. Respect was all there, but when it was time to donate, i was in some pain. It was a sharp pain and I told her so she tried to fix it. It still hurt when she readjusted it but said that it should go away soon. I stayed with the numb dull pain in my arm as I donated blood- other than that everything went normal after that. Until it comes times to take the needle out. Same sharp pain. The day goes on and everything's all right still drinking water of course, eating right all of the above. But when it comes time to removing the band from my arm I noticed a big hard lump. And it still hurts. I tried to call multiple phone numbers to check and see if the lump was normal because you know the Internet was not very helpful. But neither was Vitalant ( their new company name). I called the Center twice and both times I was transferred to two different people who did not answer. When I called back the third time they were already closed. So I decided to call the number on the sheet they gave me earlier And their office is closed too. Don't get me wrong I completely understand office hours, but there is one man who answered which was a number referred to by the center and he said someone would call me back. It's been 30 minutes and someone finally called back. I don't think I should jump through hoops when I'm worried about my health, but maybe that's just the new age of health care in America. I'm still going to be donating blood but I don't think that I'll be coming back to this location.

I will not be told I have to wear a mask to donate blood! There are plenty of blood donation…read morecenters outside of Lafayette that do not mandate this and that's where I will be going! When you operate in FEAR, what you fear the most will come home to roost with you!
