Due to some health reasons, I had to take a hiatus from donating, so they respectfully suspended my contact information during that time. Upon being cleared to give again, they provided information on how to reactivate it. I have always been treated with respect and care by Vitalant staff. I have gone to the location to give several times, and absent one experience, I have always found the staff professional and easy to work with. My negative experience was surrounding a manager scolding an employee for a brief error, and the scolding was in front of me, thus causing the phlebotomist to be a little flustered. I was contacted and informed her of my view that this was unprofessional and disruptive, and she simply did not care. But aside from that one person, everyone else has been a joy to work with. Currently, due to a probable computer overheating issue, the building is closed because of a fire. Thankfully it was seen and no blood was lost. They are operating outside and in their mobile units. Most recently, i gave in one of their busses at work. Staff was easily able to handle the fluctuation of people, explained what they needed, the sticks were painless, and we were in and out with no issue. Please, if you are able to, be a donor. The place was easy to find. The clinic was clean, well lit, detailed with directions and not overly crowded. The nurse was very polite, friendly and down to earth. She did my vitals, verified all my meds etc. and did and EKG. Dr. Moraes and he was friendly, kind and very professional. He was patient, sympathetic to my situation, he listened and most importantly he did not rush my appointment!!!! He really made sure I understood what the goal was and the treatment plan he was putting in place for me. He answered all of my questions and reassured me that we were going to our best to nip this in the bud. I was very pleased with my visit and I would recommend him to family and friends... until my next visit lets see how this heart monitor and DASH diet goes..

I transferred from the cardiology professionals at Ochsner over to Louisiana Cardiology Associates…read morebecause I heard the service was better at LCA. Never have I made such a terrible mistake. The nurses and doctors at LCA would not return phone calls. Their switchboard is over loaded and generally it takes about 15 minutes just to get the operator on the line. The line will drop without warning. Once you get the operator and ask for the nurse, you are place on hold again or get the nurse's voice mail. There is no point in leaving a message because they have not given me the common courtesy of a return call. Since that did not work, I tried their web site and sent several messages. To date, I have received ZERO responses. I do not think anyone checks the messages. For something as serious as cardiology care I cannot understand the absence of timely, professional communication. I would not and cannot suggest anyone use this clinic. The level of professionalism is abysmal. Look elsewhere for your cardiology care.

Right around the time I was referred here, there was a family situation that required a lot of attention and I was not able to call and make the appointment. I was getting communication from them though. I calledd and the lady explained to me that their policy is to contact you twice a week. But that means 2 phone calls, 2 texts, and 2 emails. All of those notifications were coming to my phone, so from my end it felt like I was constantly getting notifications from this place telling me to call and schedule with them. I even asked if they could just chill with the reminders and let me call them when I was ready, but apparently that wasn't an option. Eventually I got frustrated and said, "Oh my God, just take me off the list," and I could hear people in the office laughing. And listen, I get why that was funny. I'm not completely humorless. But at the same time, I would think a business would be a little more concerned that their communication policy had frustrated a potential patient enough to give up on coming there, than with laughing about it. I have no idea how good their physical therapists are because I never got that far. I was going through a lot and it was just a LOT of spam from a place I hadn't even decided to make an appointment with yet

But, the PA said they would give me a stronger antibiotic. Two or three weeks, I received a bill from LabCorp for a urine culture. I went to the clinic to explain the situation and was directed to call their business office. Three days later, a "medical assistant" telephoned me to say she would look at my chart and get back with me. After 2 1/2 weeks without a return call, I emailed a person in management at this business office. Without a reply for two weeks, I telephoned again and left a message. Yesterday , the medical assistant telephoned me, apologizing for the delay, stating she would visit the clinic and look at my chart. Today, she telephoned me stating there was a note on my chart, indicating a urine specimen was taken and sent to the lab. I am in shock and disbelief that Coastal Urgent Care sent a specimen in my name that I DID NOT give them. Beware, if they did this to me, you could me next.
