I've been donating blood as often as possible for the last five years. I've had bad experiences in…read morethe past, from things like drinking little water, not eating right, you name it. Overall a lack of knowledge. But within these five years I've learned from those mistakes. So, when things go wrong with donating blood I look at myself first and then I look at the overall experience. Today I donated blood and this is my second or third time donating at this Center. Don't get me wrong, these people are very kind and they will give you their best southern hospitality, with loud conversations and all. But when it comes to professionalism and awareness, I think they have to do better. Every time I go in there they are loud and rambunctious, and as medical type center I think it's necessary to remain calm and controlled especially when you can have patients who may not be as desensitized as other long time donors. When I went in today of course everyone was chatting with each other being as friendly and rambunctious as I've seen in the past. And I don't really care about that as long as I'm treated properly with basic human respect. Respect was all there, but when it was time to donate, i was in some pain. It was a sharp pain and I told her so she tried to fix it. It still hurt when she readjusted it but said that it should go away soon. I stayed with the numb dull pain in my arm as I donated blood- other than that everything went normal after that. Until it comes times to take the needle out. Same sharp pain. The day goes on and everything's all right still drinking water of course, eating right all of the above. But when it comes time to removing the band from my arm I noticed a big hard lump. And it still hurts. I tried to call multiple phone numbers to check and see if the lump was normal because you know the Internet was not very helpful. But neither was Vitalant ( their new company name). I called the Center twice and both times I was transferred to two different people who did not answer. When I called back the third time they were already closed. So I decided to call the number on the sheet they gave me earlier And their office is closed too. Don't get me wrong I completely understand office hours, but there is one man who answered which was a number referred to by the center and he said someone would call me back. It's been 30 minutes and someone finally called back. I don't think I should jump through hoops when I'm worried about my health, but maybe that's just the new age of health care in America. I'm still going to be donating blood but I don't think that I'll be coming back to this location.

Have even went to a facility right after to be sure ... hmmmm seems odd tends to happen only recently after complaining about another client continuing to cough and not covering her mouth,I brought it to staffs attention and was told she's across from you it's not affecting you , well actually yes this is a medical facility, add that to you list of rules! Not only is it unsanitary but just rude., and also seems to be on the 2nd visit of the week when the incentive is higher. Sadly it's the only facility in this small town, to help save a life through donating. I will say the majority off the staff is professional and kind , but there are a few that could use a little extra training unless this is procedure, I've heard and read reviews reguardiing readings.

They all grouped around him gawking, and accused him of this while there were many other people in the center, violating his privacy. When I tried to call to resolve the issues I was rudely told that they won't talk to me and then hung up on. The state of this establishment is run is honestly so ridiculous that i'm tempted to take legal action.

Due to some health reasons, I had to take a hiatus from donating, so they respectfully suspended my contact information during that time. Upon being cleared to give again, they provided information on how to reactivate it. I have always been treated with respect and care by Vitalant staff. I have gone to the location to give several times, and absent one experience, I have always found the staff professional and easy to work with. My negative experience was surrounding a manager scolding an employee for a brief error, and the scolding was in front of me, thus causing the phlebotomist to be a little flustered. I was contacted and informed her of my view that this was unprofessional and disruptive, and she simply did not care. But aside from that one person, everyone else has been a joy to work with. Currently, due to a probable computer overheating issue, the building is closed because of a fire. Thankfully it was seen and no blood was lost. They are operating outside and in their mobile units. Most recently, i gave in one of their busses at work. Staff was easily able to handle the fluctuation of people, explained what they needed, the sticks were painless, and we were in and out with no issue. Please, if you are able to, be a donor. Some blood types have only a 1 day supply on the shelves... give life!

The staff is friendly and informative but they seem to not have a handle on others time. I usually go on my lunch break but they go slow and I have to wait 30 min after my appointment time before they called my name but at that point I had to leave because I would be late for work. So nice clean people but I have to go back to work!
