He took us back to a beautiful space with a marble table where we picked up our name tags. Nearby was the entrance to the huge room where all of the family members were seated at circular tables with white tablecloths. Each table had a beautiful flower arrangement in the center that didn't prevent us from seeing each of the family members around our table. The waiters were right on schedule with each course starting with our drinks. The food was delicious and naturally we had anniversary wedding cake for dessert. Burroughs is a great asset to the community. I'm a big fan of the "Our Woven Community" program. It supports refugee women with opportunities to make and sell beautiful handbags, scarves and other items. I recently bought two tote bags as gifts for friends. The bags were lovely, unique, and each one included a biography of the woman who created it. My friends loved them! Our Woven Community doesn't have an official shop space in the Burroughs building, so I called ahead and when I got there the receptionist showed me bins full of items for sale. They also sell the products online and at craft fairs, farmers markets, etc. Half the proceeds go to the women directly, and the other half pays for supplies, equipment, and entrepreneurial skills training.

As the descendant of one of the town's founders, I will forever treasure knowing that generations of my family had stood within the walls of that building, since it served as the post office and tavern. The upstairs area with the lifting room dividers was so cool--never seen anything like it. Also gaining insight into how different generations traveled was fascinating.

The beams are exposed, giving a rustic charm. EXPERIENCE: Alessandro Piovezahn, the current steward of the nonprofit property, is actively looking to revive the Silo's influential public events. I enjoyed an intimate concert that featured the work of a five-time Emmy-award winning composer Jeff Beal. A legendary Steinway piano brought his music to life. A reception in the barn preceded the concert, with food prepared by Chef Constantine (Dino) Kolitsas of New Milford's Greca Mediterranean Kitchen & Bar I also enjoyed an evening cooking class with Chef Carlos Perez of Litchfield's At the Corner restaurant. Having exhausted attempts to reach the school to schedule another class, I decided to contest the $300 charge with my credit card co for the class I could not attend. Here it is 9/29 and the proprietor has not yet reached out to me, but has decided to keep my money stating the terms and conditions.
