Popped in for a weekday lunch- we had heard good things about the restaurant and have not had a chance to try it for ourselves. Restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Bethel. We were able to easily get street parking right outside the restaurant. Note has a cozy casual feel to it, like a typical neighborhood bar and restaurant. It has a variety of table options and a nice outdoor patio facing the town center. Our waiter was very welcoming and service was great. We started with drinks- my drink was called the Spring Fever. It was wonderful, and quite a tasty spring drink. Made with limoncello, a vanilla liquor, club soda and perhaps a few more ingredients but they all worked for a balanced cocktail- the mint a perfect fresh touch! We got the appetizer of the sweet potato empanadas which was easily large enough to be a whole entree. My husband is a huge empanada fan and loved this vegetarian version. I got the pork and pear sandwich with a side Caesar. Such great flavors in the sandwich between the pork, pear, arugula, onions and aioli-really well done! The Caesar salad was also really good! I love when places give the option for fries or salads with sandwiches. Husband got the pork tostadas and enjoyed these as well. It was a great lunch just a lot of food so we had to take some home, bonus! We will definitely be back to sample more of the menu and possibly do takeout too. We were excited to visit the updated Note and left feeling underwhelmed. The cauliflower wings were awesome (per usual) but the rest of our food fell short of our expectations. We thought that the plates were small and especially made the salad hard to toss. We loved The Note before their renovations but unfortunately after this most recent visit, it has slipped our minds and became forgettable. There are several other options in the same area that offer breakfast/lunch at a more affordable price. We'd have to see some more positive reviews and menu changes prior to going back. read more

Cute restaurant in downtown bethel. They have a good selection of both drinks and food. I had a dirty chai martini and highly recommend. They also had a ton of non alcoholic options that sounded delicious. Perfect brunch drink! The breakfast fries were tasty and I loved the chipotle aioli on them. Service was friendly and did not make us feel rushed at all even though it was close to closing time. Prices were fair for both drinks and food. While we sat inside, there was an outdoor patio area that looked perfect for a sunny morning meal. A great brunch spot! read more

My friend & I came here around 10am for brunch one weekend and the food did not disappoint! I found this place on yelp since it was on the way to where we were headed. When we pulled up, it looked like a little house with tables out front & a sign. We parked in the back in the small driveway, but there seemed to be plenty of street parking. It was a cute little old house that was converted to a restaurant. Loved the little grow light area for herbs and such when I came through the front door. The music started playing at 11 right when we finished up. I got the monte cristo and it was a huge portion. My friend got the "which came first" and it was also huge. Both delicious. The people next to us ordered the mac & cheese and omg it looked so good. Ordering that next time, for sure. Went here for brunch. Food is absolutely delicious, Bloody Mary was yummy. Down side is the floor was sticky when you walk your shoes stick to it, and they had to clean off the table we chose to sit at (we were the 2nd group to walk in as soon as they opened, not sure why the table would still be dirty with toothpicks and food crumbs on it). We went to a different table initially but it was super wobbly and sticky. After they cleaned the table we really wanted, it too was still incredibly sticky. I had to put my napkin on the table because it felt gross. I'd give it one more chance since the food was good, but eating in a place that just feels dirty is a turn off. read more

I really liked the cauliflower wings which are a healthy, vegetarian alternative and not at all inferior in taste to chicken. The buffalo sauce had a nice zing and the garlic and parmesan a great crunch. The hummus was very heavy on the garlic which might not be to everyone's taste, and the pita bread got a little soggy from the olives and tomato & cucumber salad in the same bowl. This was our first time here but others in our party have been here before. It's a cute little place. We started off with some drinks. I really like the Ginger Pear Sangria. It's a very mild drink but just the way I like it. Next, we got the Brussel Sprouts to shared. They were delicious. They were topped with honey glaze. We had couple special orders (blackened chicken) due to dietary needs and they were very accommodating. The steak sandwich was huge and the person really enjoyed it and took the leftover home for lunch the next day. The person who got the broccoli burger with fries really enjoyed the burger. It's something different. You can't get it at many places. Lastly, I got the surf and turf salad. It was delicious. We ended the meal with a pumpkin turtle cheesecake. First good sign was when we were graciously accomodated while they were absolutely packed on their front patio. Despite an outdoor table being unavailable during live music, we were given a very comfortable spot indoors and at no point did we feel neglected in the rush. The menu is deeply creative, inviting, price-point friendly and unpretentious which sometimes, depending on my traveling companions, creates a perfect storm for me and leads us to order multiple "smaller" items to comprise a meal in the interest in trying a variety of things. Tonight it was just me and one other capable eater but we veered in that direction and ordered the cauliflower wings, brussels sprouts and lobster corn dip-- While my cousin also ordered the southern style chicken Milanese. I see from some of the other reviews here the cauliflower wings are a big hit but they really cannot be oversold; They are beyond fantastic. An extremely generous portion nets you two sauce choices and we opted for the traditional buffalo and a sort of generalized pineapple asian glaze. The traditional styled bites were nearly indistinguishable from genuine chicken wings. These alone were worth the trip and price of entry. The rest of the offerings were also very good, I'd say competitively good when reflected against some higher priced more self agrandizing restaurants in the area. If I were to nitpick, I'd say the sprouts were the "least great", having been somewhat unusually cut into quarters, a bit too firm inside compared to the beautiful caramelization on the exterior and a bit heavy on the aioli. If the worst of your worries is that you got better than average brussels sprouts, all is right with the world. The only reason we're clocking four instead of five stars here (truly, the experience, value and food quality are five stars) is a minor yet noticeable inconvenience that Note, I'm sure, has absolutely no control over. Like many of the older buildings on the road such as Molten Java, the bookstore and J Lawrence back when it was Greenwood, there is a pervailing and sickly smell of mildew indoors that is inescapable and may bother those sensitive to such things if sat for an extended period. I STRESS: The restaurant from what I could see is immaculate and they follow all CDC guidelines. It is NOT a question of cleanliness. It's just the way the old building smells. I did wish we'd held off for a table outside but it in no way ruined our evening. It just begs mentioning. Oh, by the way, I don't usually comment on what I *did not* experience but while I didn't partake, I found the cocktail list charming, again very un-fussy and with some very smart choices. I'm something of a known professional mixologist in Southern CT and for me to appreciate a cocktail program in full is rare indeed. The jalapeno cuke lemonade was very well done, even sans booze. Super happy we got to try this restaurant shouts out to the chef I saw you win on Chopped!! Went with coworkers for lunch we had two orders of the short rib tacos and one mushroom burger. The tacos had lots of amazing flavors and the portion was just enough for lunch however they were super greasy and the grease poured out of the tacos. The burger had very rich pesto and the patty flavor was awesome. All meals came with fries or salad and the fries were great super crispy and tender inside. I have eaten here a couple of times now. Once for dinner (a few years ago), once for breakfast. It is owned by the same people who own Notch and Fat Tony. The food is great. Awesome Brussel sprouts in the evening, excellent egg dishes in the morning, with an ample portion of delicious potatoes. The staff is very friendly. The venue is lovely. Where it loses marks for me-one thing that can be helped, and another that might be tougher: 1. The music is unnecessarily loud. This was ok when we saw live music there, but silly when it's the outdoor speakers making it impossible to speak with my partner. This feels like a common malady across many restaurants nowadays. Not here for your sound system. Here to enjoy a good meal with company. 2. Bees. We eat outside whenever we can, and both times I have eaten here the bees were constantly coming at us. I know this also sounds silly, but it really was a problem for us during both meals. Those two things might be taken care of inside. I do plan to find out as the food is good. Recommended. read more

Broken Symmetry is a new favorite that everyone seems to dig. One place (not Note) even had a band playing a Husker Du cover when I strolled by. In Connecticut?? What the actual F? Anyways, back to the review at hand: Note was perfectly fine and I would return in a heartbeat. I had a great short rib sandwich, we also had awesome wings as an appetizer. I don't remember what my wife had, cuz I'm not all up in her business. And Note serves beer. Any beer is fine by me these days cuz I don't drink during the work week, cuz I've become a fat SOB who guzzled way too much during the pandemic and I'm trying to drop a few pounds. Go to Note! I've been here a few times and have never had a bad meal here! Recently, I saw that their chef won an episode of Chopped, which makes perfect sense. The drinks are always good, usually with a little unique twist to a classic (recently I had a peppermint espresso martini during winter.) They often switch up their menu so even if you come here often, you'll never tire of something new to order. It seems they always have a version of brussel sprouts and a few different sauces for cauliflower wings. I've previously had Cola BBQ and Plum Ginger, both of which were delicious and great portions! So delicious! Everyone is so nice. We actually came here because a different restaurant was being incredibly rude and this place was exactly the opposite. Ambiance is great, staff is very friendly, and the food is DELICIOUS. I got the French toast and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still thinking about it. First time at Note, small and quaint place. We went during happy hour which was a good thing since it's a little bit pricey. Drinks were good, generous pours. Food was excellent, we had the cauliflower and pork and hen app. Grilled chicken and bacon flatbread and a BYOB Burger for entrees. My only issues are the location of the bathroom, which is kind of in the middle of the kitchen/prep areas, and you get knocked into by staff who seem annoyed you're back there. They have live music which wasnt our style at all but seemed to draw a decent crowd of regulars. More of a 60s and 70s crowd. read more

Thoroughly disappointed with the customer service at Note. I placed an online order for eight people (a family get-together for Mother's Day) early this morning for a noon pickup. The order was confirmed by the restaurant at 11, an hour before pickup -- and then was canceled ten minutes before it was supposed to be ready (when I was already on my way) by saying they were "out of stock" of what I'd ordered. Honestly I was shocked that if they were going to cancel, the restaurant didn't bother to even get in touch with me directly to explain. When I got a notification from Grubhub and called, the hostess said it was all Grubhub's fault, they weren't taking any online orders, too bad. If that's the case, someone should have informed Grubhub, and someone should have realized the issue before confirming the order in the first place. When the hostess asked "Well, what do you want me to do about it?" and I suggested the right thing to do would be to accept the mistake, honor the order that had already been confirmed, and just make sure Grubhub didn't accept any online orders going forward, she just said, "well sorry, we're not doing that." Lucky for me and my family, we were able to find another local restaurant that was very happy to take our order at the last minute, packed everything up, was super gracious and helpful even though they were also busy, and everything was delicious to boot. Unfortunate that Note hasn't figured out that part of the hospitality industry. read more

First of, this place is cute! This is one thing we love about the east coast, the establishments always have a unique, homey, and and non-franchise feel. The garlic focaccia with the pesto sauce was seasoned well and really complemented the crispy pork belly! I would even love to have their garlic focaccia with a salad. My husband loved his open faced steak sandwich. The steak was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. But the pièce de résistance was surprisingly the Mac and cheese with the pork belly that we ordered for our son. My husband and I are not Mac and cheese fans or aficionados but we loved their Mac and cheese so much that we tried our best not to eat from our son's plate it was so cheesy and garlicky plus the pasta was cooked perfectly! Both our son and daughter enjoyed it so much that they actually finished their plates! Overall, we can't say enough wonderful things about their food! However, as much as I wanted to give this place 5 stars but the cocktail I ordered ruined it for me. Unfortunately, I can't do 4.5 stars either... I guess I expected too much since the place calls itself "kitchen & bar" I was hoping that they make good drinks and would have more more choices of alcoholic drinks and not just the typical wine list with beer and some cocktails. I ordered the blueberry hill drink. I've had this drink before and was excited to have it with my food. However, not only was i disappointed but I also regretted ordering it. They described the drink as triple 8 blueberry vodka with lemonade and mint. I was expecting some muddled fresh blueberries and mint with the blueberry vodka and some freshly squeezed lemon or maybe even some limoncello but sadly that wasn't the case. The drink tasted like a bad lemonade drink where it seemed like they used those store bought lemon juice and then the whole thing was watered down blueberry vodka. I did not taste any blueberry or lemon or mint in their drink. I would have loved it if they actually used fresh ingredients and made the drink more presentable. It was an ordinary looking cocktail with an ordinary taste. I wish I had more courage to send the drink back and ordered something else. Despite this, my husband and I are not writing this place off. It was a little awkward when we entered because we didn't know if we were supposed to wait to be seated or seat ourselves. Finally somebody did greet us and seat us.
