We learned so many important things through her private training and the puppy socialization course. She turned our puppy into our friend who turned into a family member who turned into our first child! Within the first week of receiving our Beabull puppy (3/4 English Bulldog, 1/4 Beagle) two years ago, she began to behave obnoxiously dominant. She would attack my ankles any time we would play, if we tried to hold her down to show our dominance she would NEVER tire of scratching our arms until they were bloodied and bruised, she would do the opposite of everything we asked/showed, and she humped me all the time. There were times that I would cry on the couch because of her behavior, and times my husband confessed that coming home felt like more work than his actual job because of he could never just relax with our dog acting out nonstop. Janet came to our home and made our jaws drop, as her presence changed our dog's behavior immediately. She never lost her patience and taught me how to assert dominance easily. Her guidance rewards good behavior and helped us feel mounds more confident when faced with difficult moments. Our frustration decreased steadily and our pup slowly began to treat us with respect and love. She stopped attacking my heels within a day, and let us hold her down/put our hands in and on her mouth/ears/paws quickly. The humping has stopped over time and she listens very well. I never cried because of my dog after we were helped by Janet. I also recommend so highly the Puppy Socialization class. Aside from our wee one learning sit, down, shake, stay, come and how to walk on a leash better, she made some puppy friends and overcame her shyness around bigger dogs by the end of the course. We were also introduced to the agility/games course which was SO MUCH FUN! We noticed a big change in our dog's confidence and also loyalty to us as we built our bond through training. Additionally, all the staff seems very in tune with each dogs individual needs and never let anyone feel embarrassed or unwelcome because of a misbehavior. Good Dog Training was the catalyst for positive behavior with our dog. I credit the staff and Janet for teaching us how to become amazing parents to our pup and for giving our girl confidence and a conscience.

Dr. Rees was very helpful in trying to help us find a diagnosis. Unfortunately, we didn't find one until Macy began having seizures, at which point she needed specialized care at MSU. (She turned out to have a very rare and difficult-to-diagnose disease called GME.) We ended up working with a neurologist in Boston, and Dr. Rees was always very willing to work with him and with our vet at MSU to make Macy's treatment as convenient for us as possible.

Each has been carefully and gently cared for, and when news was bad, or the time had come, they mourned with me. I won't go anywhere else...there are no extraneous tests or procedures done here. Everything is for the good of your pet, but with a dose of common sense as well. The staff and Dr. Fauser are an extension of your pets family, and that is how you and your pet are always treated. They suggested shoes, pads, equiox...I asked about her grain, they said she's not getting that much. I decided to take her off her soy based Essential K. She is now sound and barefoot with no anti-inflammatories. Before this I scheduled to have her joint injected. They over tranquilized her, did not support her head and she ended up falling and tore her lower lip off. They then charged me nearly $800 dollars to sew it back on.

I have taken animals here since I was a child. I am now 37 with 3 cats of my own and continued…read moregoing to them. There has been a significant decline over the years. What was once a compassionate office that cared about animals, seems to now only care about the bottom dollar. We were first turned away when we voiced concerns about our cat who had a stomach procedure done started to drop weight fast and drool from her mouth shortly after. We were told they didn't have time and to go to Williamston. Upon arriving there they discovered her mouth full of cancer and were shocked she had just been at dvh so recently.. She was put to sleep the same day due to her pain. We made the decision to go back against our better judgement, but because I'd been going there for as long as I've been in DeWitt. Which brings us to today. Our 3 year old cat has been being checked regularly for what they deemed ibs through multiple blood test, one of which they encouraged us to send out to a specialist for over $300. No problem, I'll spend that to make sure my animal is ok. His face swelled today and he is acting lethargic. I called to see if we could be seen and after explaining symptoms the on site doctor determined there was no time to get him in and encouraged Williamston again. I asked when first appointment was available and was told not until mid December. My animal is suffering and you suggest waiting until then? No thank you. I am done and will never come back. I am so sad that a once amazing office has now decided with their massive building and multiple doctors that long time patients are not important enough for even 5 minutes of a conversation. I'll take the small old office with Dr. Wendy. That was the last time it felt like the priority was animals.

My first lab came here to get an Ovary Sparing Spay and everything was great, my second lab came 4…read moreweeks later and it was horrendous. they sent her home with the WORST razor burn from where they had to shave her fur. They didn't even tell me or apologize or send her home with ointment. They put her surgical suit on and sent her home, and I unfortunately didn't find out until morning, and felt so horrible for my poor pup. When I sent them pics they barely commented and just said "it happens", so concern or apology. (wish I could post a pic here, you'd be appalled at how she looks)

Do not take your animal here!…read more We took our dog here for about 2 years and at first they were very attentive. Anything that was routine was fine, but then our dog got very sick. At first, the problem seemed straightforward, but four months in we were still trying different medicines and making no progress. We kept calling and they did not seem concerned. After the last round of medicine did not work, I asked to please speak with the vet to know what our plan of action is because our dog had been sick for so long and was not getting any better. They promised they would respond and when we got there to pick up the medicine they told us that the vet could only talk to us in a week after we'd been asking this question for months. We asked if we should seek a second opinion to try and better figure out what was going on and they said that wouldn't be helpful at that time. We told them that our dog was worse than ever, had lost almost 10 lbs (for a 40 lbs dog) and was having diarrhea and vomiting. They did nothing. We finally rushed our dog to the MSU Veterinary clinic and they had us stop EVERYTHING this vet told us to do. Within days our dog was starting to feel better. We have been with them ever since and our dog is leaps and bounds feeling better than she ever did with four months of medications, special foods, and endless amounts of phone tag just to get resources from this vet. We left a message for them telling them that we were bringing our dog to MSU ER and they never called us back or checked in. When we called asking for our dog's medical records they said they heard about the ER but never asked how our dog was doing. When we asked for our dog's medical records for MSU they made us wait two days and charged us $40 to print out paper because they didn't have "good luck with email." Lastly, when we went to MSU ER they treated us excellently and told us it was critical we came in. Our dog was very anemic and that vet emailed us constantly checking on our dog because of her condition and squeezed us into a specialist within a week. When we were in the waiting room at the MSU specialist we met another woman there. She was asking about our dog because she is so young. We told her the whole story and she asked who our vet was and my dad told her it was someplace on Sandhill. Her face got very serious and said Dr. Sue by name and said they left this place too because they cost them an animal. When we called Sandhill to let them know that we no longer will be doing business with them they said "thank you," and did not ask any other questions. Please take your animals someplace else. Although they seem nice at first, when you really need the help they leave you hanging and it could cost you your animal's life. Luckily we found that out before it was too late.

The vet was rude and had her own opinion on what types of animal should be bred, and what types of animal should not be bred. i'm not really sure what business that is of hers and she should really keep her opinions to herself as she is being paid to do a job! She clearly caters to only German Shepherd breeding for the police department.

Always a cynic, I was hesitant to spend the money on acupuncture for my 13 yr old…read moredachshund, Loki, who has chronic back issues, however, as his condition continued to get deteroriate and traditional medicines were not helping, my husband and I decided to give Dr. Matt's practice a try. We couldn't be happier and are now complete believers! Since his acupuncture, Loki has a new lease on life! Dr. Matt is caring, thorough and goes to the extra trouble to explain everything in as much detail as you desire....I asked lots of questions, and all of them were answered. He is very knowledgeable on Eastern medicine and recommended some additional herbal therapies. The needles never seemed to cause Loki any pain and the sessions lasted less than an hour. We had a total of 5 initial treatments, and will do quarterly tuneups going forward. We saw drastic improvements after just 2 sessions. Loki is now pain free and as nimble as a dog 1/2 his age. Steroids never did that for him! I highly recommend giving this practice a try to anyone experiencing chronic issues with their pet.

I'm so happy I didn't choose the traditional chemo/radiation/surgery route that another vet offered. I got her when I was 11 years old and we have grown up together, so she is very very important to me. In 2013 her brother, who lives with my parents, died very suddenly of kidney failure. I immediately brought my cat to the closest vet when I moved to East Lansing with her, which happened to be Abbott Road. She at first tested to be in good health but about 8 months later she started vomiting all the time and basically stopped eating. We had been getting ready to go on vacation when this started and I had to rush her in about 3 days before we were going to leave. I almost cancelled my trip but Abbott Road saved the day. They did blood work and found that she did indeed have the early stages of kidney failure. They also offered to board her while I was out of town and give her all the medications she needed to feel comfortable again. They just charged me for boarding but she was essentially given a 5-day hospital visit to get her back in good health. When I came back from my trip, the vet explained to me what medications she would need and how to best go about making her comfortable and healthy for the months or years to come. This was in February of 2015. It is now November and my cat is doing better than ever. She has made a complete turnaround from the lethargic, vomiting, skinny cat she was in the spring back to a playful, healthy, happy cat. I cannot thank the vets and staff at Abbott Road enough. Everyone there is wonderful and so kind to my cat. I've seen both Dr. Missy and Dr. Mary, but recently only Dr. Missy and she is so fantastic. She understands that my cat is old and never tries to push unnecessary procedures. She has commended me multiple times for taking good care of my cat, something vets never do, but that really means a lot. I'm so sad to be moving, as I don't know that I'll find another vet that can compare. We will miss you Abbott Road!

I have used Abbott Road Animal Clinic for over 50 years. The only reason I don't live near them…read moreanymore and the vet I use is down my street. However, they have attended to: Gomer, Thor, Texie, Sadie, Gulliver, Muffin, Oliver, Little Dorrit (all dogs); and cats Mr. B, Mishin, Duncan, Hitchie, Alexey. I've also had them taken care of when we went away. I loved every vet and vet tech there.
