I have taken animals here since I was a child. I am now 37 with 3 cats of my own and continued going to them. There has been a significant decline over the years. What was once a compassionate office that cared about animals, seems to now only care about the bottom dollar. We were first turned away when we voiced concerns about our cat who had a stomach procedure done started to drop weight fast and drool from her mouth shortly after. We were told they didn't have time and to go to Williamston. Upon arriving there they discovered her mouth full of cancer and were shocked she had just been at dvh so recently.. She was put to sleep the same day due to her pain. We made the decision to go back against our better judgement, but because I'd been going there for as long as I've been in DeWitt. Which brings us to today. Our 3 year old cat has been being checked regularly for what they deemed ibs through multiple blood test, one of which they encouraged us to send out to a specialist for over $300. No problem, I'll spend that to make sure my animal is ok. His face swelled today and he is acting lethargic. I called to see if we could be seen and after explaining symptoms the on site doctor determined there was no time to get him in and encouraged Williamston again. I asked when first appointment was available and was told not until mid December. My animal is suffering and you suggest waiting until then? No thank you. I am done and will never come back. I am so sad that a once amazing office has now decided with their massive building and multiple doctors that long time patients are not important enough for even 5 minutes of a conversation. I'll take the small old office with Dr. Wendy. That was the last time it felt like the priority was animals. read more

Dr. Carrie Bonemer is a wonderful vet. I had Aretha in because she was licking the hair off her tummy and hind legs. We started with prescription Hills Food Sensitivities z/d which I bought on 9/18/24 for $58. In March 2025 I bought a second bag for $88. I commented that it went up $30 in 7 months. Shortly after I received an email with an attached bill (which I didn't open) but called to see what I owed. They said they did inventory and found a discrepancy of 1 in the dog and cat food and I had been charged the dog price of $58 instead of the cat price of $88. I asked if they expected me to pay 7 months later for an error they made. She asked management and they said they did not make enough of a profit on the food to not charge me the difference. This isn't a problem of how much they make selling the food but that their help made a mistake and it became my responsibility to clear it up for them. My daughter was visiting at the time and she thought I should pay and move on to a better run clinic. Never having opened the invoice, I wrote the check for $30 that was talked about on the phone but it was $30.46 and they required my daughter pay the $0.46 in cash to close the bill. I hate loosing Dr. Bonemer but I won't put up either such a poorly run business. read more

I have had wonderful experiences any time we have had to bring our cats in. All of the doctors are wonderful and I couldn't pick a favorite. They all seem very knowledgeable and compassionate in their work. I highly recommend choosing this for your vet needs. They have hired in more docs in the last few years and I've had no problem getting my cats in. In fact, this summer we found a 4 week old kitten abandoned at a gas station. We drove straight to this vet because this is where we take our other cats. They took him right in and saved his life. I cannot say enough about this place, we love it! read more

I love, love, love this vet clinic. I moved to Michigan from iowa and they have taken over the care of my dogs superbly at reasonable prices. They have boarding services and that's really great since I have older dogs. My 15 yr old dog, on a recent trip, got very sick. They knew I was out of the country but went out of their way to get a hold of me. I was offered FaceTime opportunities if things got worse (thank goodness they didn't!) and they gave me detailed daily updates which really put my mind at ease. Keep In Mind my dog got sick on day 4 of a 15 day trip. So there were a lot of conversations. read more

I recently moved back to the DeWitt area and was looking for a veterinary clinic to take my pet rat to for a possible upper respiratory infection. When I lived in the Ann Arbor area I always took my rats to Animal Kingdom and had great success. I called Zeeb's Pet Clinic in DeWitt, my family has been taking our dogs their for years, to see if they would see a pet rat. No-go. But they recommended DeWitt Veterinary Hospital. When I called DVH they couldn't get me in until the next afternoon. I made the appointment and inquired what the visit fee would be. $44 for a check-up. $44 is more than I have paid in the past for my rats but the other alternative was to drive 30 min to Williamston and pay only slightly less. Thus onward I go to my appointment the following day... The front office staff was friendly but pretty unfamiliar with rats. I had to explain to two different techs how I was treating my rat at home and again when the Vet came into the room. When I finally get to see the vet, after wait about 30 min in the room, she implied my at home treatments for my rat were not a good choice. Now I'm not a vet but I am a long time rat owner and am familiar with successful at home treatments for minor aliments like mites. The vet told me treating my rat at home with ivermectin was dangerous but immediately told me she could treat her with the same thing at the office but it would be "safe". As for the upper respiratory infection the vet determined she needed two antibiotics but their office, "that sees rats", didn't carry the medication in a small, concentrated enough formula and they would need to order from a special place for quite a bit of money. Quite a bit of money being $30 and $40 a piece and I would need to wait a couple days for it to be produced. At this point I felt like I had no choice but to treat my rat so I told them to order the meds. My previous experience with small pet vets or vets that say they treat small animals is they have antibiotics and other medications used to treat common aliments like upper respiratory infections on hand. They simply measure out the quantity you need and it's about $10 per medication, sometimes a little more. Overall my bill for a visit, skin scrap test to rule out mites, and the medication cost was $140. Compared to any other visit to the vet this was by far the most expensive. It is frustrating a vet would say they see and treat small animals but they are clearly not prepared. Not to mention make a pet owner feel uncomfortable treating their pet at home with the same medication they offer at the vet. This vet may be great for dogs and cats but I'd skip them if you have anything unusual. Next time I'll try Cedar Creek in Williamston or drive back down to Ann Arbor. read more

I've always had a very good experience here and the staff is really friendly. They have taken good care of my pets. I have had to treat my cats for various illnesses over the years and the clinic has been great and I have never had any problems. read more

This clinic takes advantage of people. A family member of mine had to put his dog to sleep and to put his dog down it cost $60, but you were not able to be there with them. If you wanted to be there with your pet when they are put to sleep, it cost $120! That is out right preposterous. It is not right or kind at all to take advantage of people like that. This is a moment to be grieving and remembering the member in your family, not to be used by getting more money of you just by wanting to be there for your pet. I would not recommend this office at all! read more

I usually don't write about customer service experiences but this is one clients need to hear about. I was there in 2017 with 2 dog exam appt. and apparently I decided not to complete the exam due to different pricing that had been given to me over the phone. In any case, I had both dogs complete a nail trim. Now, 2020, I decide to bring business back to local community, and schedule 4 dog appts. I was applaud of the harsh tone used toward a customer because I made decision to change my appt that occurred in 2017. I reflected to the staff, Brenda, that I don't mind paying in advance but I would hope I do not have to do this going forward now that I know their policy, which was never informed to me in the past, otherwise I would not be trying to return. We are trying to give business back to our community, but to hear staff with that tone of voice and no empathy of a returning client, we chose not to bring our regular veterinarian business of four dogs to this DeWitt Community. I work in the customer service industry and by all means this place needs better "customer service" overall, that's what makes a business grow. If I was treated that way, can't imagine how my pets would be treated. I would "highly" not recommend this veterinarian if you care about the service you will be getting. My experience with Dr. Wendy and DeWitt Veterinary Hospital for both of my pups was horrible. The poor care that I received led me to take my pups to a second Vet; and subsequently to emergency surgeries. The radiographs were so poor that the equipment used was questioned by a second Vet and by MSU. The blood tests were also questionable, and had to be rerun by hand at the DVH. Because of this they had to be rerun by a second Vet and by MSU. My pup had a mass in her chest, which was detected by a second Vet through a simple examination by hand; and subsequently by MSU using the same technique. I do not understand how it could have been missed. After two emergency surgeries, my pup died. Dr. Wendy could not even be bothered to return my telephone call. My little girl went through so much pain and suffering. Thousands of dollars for surgeries at MSU, and all I have left is an urn with my little girl's ashes. Now after taking my little boy to a different Vet, I learned that he may have cancer. Even though I had him tested at DVH, and was told it was just a cyst. I will never forgive them for what they've put us through. read more

I have taken 2 dogs to this clinic. I saw the RELIEF VET. She was very informative. I would highly recommend her expertise to anyone. She is very good and knowledgeable. I know she comes in a couple days a month. read more

My parents have always taken their dogs to DeWitt Veterinary Hospital and have been very happy with their experiences. When I got my own dog, I brought her to DeWitt Vet as well. My dog is a rescue and she is very nervous and skittish, but the team at DeWitt Vet is great with her. They are friendly and knowledgeable and it is very clear that Dr. Wendy's top priority is my dog's health. My dog and I have been clients for over six years and couldn't imagine going anywhere else.
