I did some research before picking a place to get my dog groomed. He hates having is nails clipped so I needed professional support. I'm one of those over-concern dog moms that obsesses over his health and happiness (he has like 50 toys at home). After reading their reviews I tried out Annabelles. We have been going to Annabelle's for a few months now and the socialization that my dog gets there has been incredible! What's great about it is that it's not a free for all, dump them in a room and that's it. Honestly absolutely​ amazing. My dog always has a super fun time when she is at Annabelle's, and they take such good care of her, recognize her as soon as she walks in, and are always so happy and friendly. They have the most intense behavior testing I've encountered for dogs, so I don't have to worry about Athena being attacked while she's there (we have been attacked multiple times while out on walks). They are also so very helpful when unexpected things happen. We were ​enrolled in one of their behavior training classes (which I highly recommend​) so Athena was at Daycare as class was right after work and it helped get all her extra energy out. I was on my way there when I got T-boned at an intersection, and they were very understanding when my husband called and told them the problem and took care of her until we were able to pick her up MUCH later than their regular hours and the training class. We have a tremendously energetic Chihuahua. Despite our best efforts to tire him out at home, he always seemed to be bouncing off the walls at night. We started taking him to Annabelle's when he was about a year old and, wow, is there a great difference! He comes home happy and exhausted. I work from home, so we don't send him there very often, but even when there have been a couple of months between visits and we ask, "Do you want to go to daycare?" he runs for the front door and starts barking with excitement. I recently tried to purchase a hands-free leash from their online site. Later that day after putting my order in, I received an email stating there was an inventory problem; The leash was actually out of stock. I expressed that I needed the leash by a certain day and if that could not be fulfilled that I would need a refund. They tried to see if the distributor could directly drop my purchase off to me on its way to the store (I live about 90 minutes away from the store). In the end, I wasn't able to purchase the leash from Annabelle's and receive it in time, but I commend their constant communication with me and going out of their way to try and help me out. I received my full refund as requested. In the future, I will keep them in mind because of their great customer service. read more

They do a great job of trying to accommodate all of your requests for a very reasonable price. Because they don't take as many dogs at a time as other places do, the dogs are done in 2-2 1/2 hours unlike the 3 to even 6 hours we have had a leave him at some places. This is great for dogs like ours, who get anxious when in a strange environment with many dogs. Our dog seems to enjoy going there, or at least isn't reluctant. The fact that he has taken obedience classes there may make it more familiar to him. Great small business! read more

We haven't been there well over a year and will never go back. Our oldest dog was left in a room for over 40 minutes with no sight of any care taker. When watching on the video my dog along with all the other dogs in the room laid down and did nothing. They were waiting for any interaction with people who work there. When I picked my dog up after watching the video I was told by one of the workers there that the fun dogs weren't there that's why it was boring for my dog. I was heartbroken after hearing this explanation. At that point I understood why my dogs resisted so much when I dropped them off. In one instance staff literally pulled my dog into the designated play room. I now take my dogs to Doggy Daycare and Spa in Okemos, A 1000 percent better place. read more

I use annabelle's for daycare and training for my 1.5 year old rescued male great dane. I cannot speak highly enough of the people at annabelle's. I have taken multiple classes through the Canine Training Center and at the end of each and every session my dane has shown Marked improvements. Erinn and Carol work with you, help you identify problems, and then find ways for you to fix them with your dog in an easy to understand and practical approach. After adopting my dane (who was reactive with little training) less than 3 months prior and attending a 6 week canine good citizens class he passed his CGC test and went on to pass his therapy dog international test. His rescue can't believe what a different dog he has become! Better yet, he adores the trainers -- which speaks highly of their ability to not only get results, but do so in a positive manner. Their daycare is run like no other. Dogs are carefully play tested by their trained daycare staff and put into appropriately matched groups which are always supervised. Throughout the day the dogs alternate between play time, rest time and walk time. My dog has a lot of special needs and medical problems -- there is no one else that I would trust him with during the day. He always comes and leaves happy and tired. You get "report cards" at the end of every day to tell you what your dog did during the day, what they played with, which other dogs they played with, their attitude during the day, their manners during the day and any additional comments. Their system allows dogs who would not otherwise be able to go to daycare at the "play all day in one large group" programs to have a chance to interact socially with other dogs and have a good time. I would recommend annabelle's to anyone -- from the individual with the unruley dog in need of training help, someone looking to fine tune their dog's training, have fun with the agility classes or a place to take their dog for a good, safe, day of well run daycare. read more

Horrible Grooming experience. The PHONE: I don't think it is good business to not answer the phone. I have called in the past, after they first opened to get a grooming appointment for my dog and I left a message which was never returned.I recently was able to get an appointment by booking online. I had a question about vaccinations and had to leave a message during business hours because no one answers the phone. My call was returned but I was not able to answer when she called back. If I would have been able to connect with her and not played phone tag, it would have been easier and would have facilitated better communication. However annoying, this was not the major problem I had. The SERVICE: No where on the web site does it say they don't express anal glands for dogs who need it. It says they do "sanitary area grooming". One would think this is vague but that it seems like it is referring to expressing anal glands. The groomer, Michelle says that this means they trim around the vulva or penis etc. Well, isn't that just a part of the normal grooming process? When do you go to a groomer who doesn't do this? Because of what I saw on the site, I figured they would express the glands if I requested. On my online pre- grooming survey they want you to fill out I said he specifically needed his glands expressed. Maybe no one really reads these surveys for if they did they could have called me and let me know that they were not going to do this. Ordinarily, I would have just not had the grooming when Michelle said "I don't express anal glands", but because I had a certificate from a friend for a free grooming, I thought, well, at least he can get a nice cut and shampoo. She called me and said that he had a lot of mats and he was whining and that she was concerned about hurting him. I said he does have mats, he goes to the groomer every three months but no one has ever not been able to deal with his coat. Sometimes they have to make the fur on his legs about an inch shorter but that's it. He still has a nice cocker cut and the other groomers have had good rapport with him. He is a happy dog and likes to give the groomers kisses. I told her to do what she thought was best to not hurt the dog but to make him look as nice as possible. She sheared my dog like a sheep, and the cut was not even smooth. It looked choppy and he had a couple of longer chunks of hair on two of his feet. I'm so glad I wasn't paying for it. Even though she and I did not see eye to eye I would have thought she at least would have had the professionalism to do a good job and make the dog at least look nice. I think she just didn't care. Maybe she is just not as skilled as some of the other groomers I have dealt with. Before Annabelle's, this dog, has gone to Wagn' Tails, and they made him look beautiful. He has gone to the dog school of Cosmetology on Cedar St. and he looked even better. Petco, not the best looking cut. However, they all expressed his glands and had a good rapport with him. I asked my vet, Riverfront Animal Hospital, about why this groomer didn't do anal glands. She said all groomers used to do it. There are differences of opinion amoung vets but in her opinion, there was no reason a groomer couldn't do it. It is not a difficult skill to learn and there is no hard data out there for why only a vet should do it. read more

The options for doggie day care are really limited in Lansing, and this place really stands out! They have two to three dog play groups each day, based on dog size and temperament, so don't be alarmed if you see a quiet Golden retriever on the medium dog-cam - he's old or recovering from an injury! Yes, that's right - you can check in on your pooch via webcam! The dogs get plenty of supervised play in small groups, plus down time for naps and chillin'. They all get two walks per day. In the recent cold snaps, I asked about how they keep an eye on dog feet, and they do shorten those walks on super-cold days. The human supervisors give scritches and rubs, and they require good manners too. I really appreciate that they support my effort to be consistent about not allowing my dog to jump on them! I have personally been a client of AnnaBelles for several years, and love all that they do. Carol is an awesome trainer and I have used her for training my own dogs for about 30 years. Her problem behavior lecture is very helpful for people with any behavior questions. As a veterinarian, I also recommend AnnaBelle's to my clients. Their day care is great, and my clients love them. I've been taking my dog to this place for over two years. My dog and I have loved this place and previously I gave them 5 stars. I've had to change that rating after a recent experience. I took my dog there after not going for a couple of months. We were excited to go back. The problem occurred when I saw an employee that morning on the webcam repeatedly squirting my dog with a water bottle chasing her around the room to get her. My dog's offense--sniffing the other dogs. News flash-dogs sniff other dogs. Plus this was her first visit in some time and they were all new dogs. This was still early in the morning while the dogs still hadn't been around each other long. Sniffing should be expected, and I don't think any dog should be punished for normal non-threatening dog behavior. It was the attendant with a problem. Then it got worse. The attendant obviously got frustrated left the room, came back in with a collar, put it on my dog, and yanked her out of the room by the collar. I was upset by this treatment of my dog. If she was humping another dog, I could understand the squirting with water more, but not typical dog sniffing with new dogs. Humping is impacting another dog. Funny in the past I did see a bigger dog constantly humping my dog making it where she had trouble moving, and they didn't do anything until I contacted them.* Now sniffing is a capital offense. And the attendants must always be patient. Scaring a dog and dragging her by her collar is not acceptable. My dog is a good girl. I don't have to correct her at home because she listens and treats work wonders. Now her new baby brother is another story....I would also recommend talking to clients about what you do if there is a problem with a dog. Consider the use of positive reinforcement instead of use of fear and power and making sure you are not over reacting. I haven't decided if I'll go back to Annabelle's. I want to because I have a two year history there and we have loved it in the past, but they have broken my trust and I'm having a hard time getting over that despite the supervisor saying she would look into it. Not to mention the practical that I don't want to buy a package I'm stuck with if things don't get better or paying the outrageous full price with no package. But the broken trust that they will take care of my dogs in a positive environment is my biggest problem. *Today I saw on the webcam a small black and white dog humping a couple of other small dogs with no reaction. It was a different attendant in that room. Maybe a more relaxed attendant? read more

Our puppy has been going to Annabelle's doggy daycare since she was about 3 months old. All of the staff have been so amazing and loving. Every time I bring our dog in, she is greeted with smiles and pets all around. When I get a second at work to watch the play cam, Laika is always having a blast. I took my dog here to get her nails trimmed. upon entering I heard an employee shouting at the dogs in the doggie daycare part of the busines. then i rang a bell for service because no 1 was present, the same worker who was just yelling at the dogs appeared from behind the door. she lead me back to the grooming room where I was instructed to help old my dog so they could trim her toenails. the groomer was unable to cut my dog's toenails very short and and I had to pay full price even though I did most of the work. read more
