We've taken our pets to Dr. Fauser since 1985...never once have we, or anyone else we know of, been treated with anything less than care, concern, professionalism. The review that says otherwise is astonishing..Dr. Fauser has never raised his voice to anyone, not in the almost 35 years I've been there. My dog developed heart worm, and they worked diligently to save her life..which they did. In these years, we've had 6 cats and 1 dog. Each has been carefully and gently cared for, and when news was bad, or the time had come, they mourned with me. I won't go anywhere else...there are no extraneous tests or procedures done here. Everything is for the good of your pet, but with a dose of common sense as well. The staff and Dr. Fauser are an extension of your pets family, and that is how you and your pet are always treated. We've been going to Holt Vet Clinic for about six years now and have been quite happy with them. Most of our pets' needs are pretty conventional -- vaccines, heartworm meds, etc., -- but about two years ago, our beloved Maltese became very ill. Dr. Rees was very helpful in trying to help us find a diagnosis. Unfortunately, we didn't find one until Macy began having seizures, at which point she needed specialized care at MSU. (She turned out to have a very rare and difficult-to-diagnose disease called GME.) We ended up working with a neurologist in Boston, and Dr. Rees was always very willing to work with him and with our vet at MSU to make Macy's treatment as convenient for us as possible. read more

Dr. Fauser is amazing. He has so much compassion. We have three rescue cats he has been treating for nearly two years. Polly, our polydactal, was very sick and losing a lot of weight. Dr. Fauser performed surgery on her and literally saved her life. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly as well. I highly recommend Holt Veterinary Clinic. read more

Starting this review off with the fact that I left this place in tears. So I recently found out that my dog has heartworm and I went here for the first time to get his exam to get him treated. From the start the vet assistant had a rude attitude towards my dog and he wasn't even doing anything wrong. She literally said to the doctor "good luck, your turn" WTH!!! (Side note: I am a student at Msu and had some bad experiences last year. I wanted a dog for protection so I went to the humane society and adopted a dog that was known to be protective ) so anyways the doctor comes in and my dog (known to be protective) barks at him BUT he was on a leash and I said his name and said no and he sat down and was being a good boy. The doctor FREAKED out and to my face told me "you never should have adopted that dog" TO MY FACE!!! He then told me he wouldn't treat my dog and that I had to leave. At this point I was in tears trying to get my stuff to leave and everyone was yelling at me everywhere . I was upset and as I was trying to find my way out and he repeatedly kept telling me I needed to leave and he kicked me out the back door. :( I cried for 2 hours after this and now have to quickly find another place to get him treated. just saying no one should ever be told they shouldn't have adopted their dog especially by a vet! Also, after this experience I was curious so I read previous reviews and saw someone's dog jumped on the doctor and was still treated (treated rudely though). Oh well, I don't want ANY of those people near my dog anymore anyways and you shouldn't either. If the mean rude evil doctor is reading this I would like you to know you should think about your career choice and life decisions read more

I can only speak from my experience. Dr. Hugh and the entire staff were kind, sensitive, and caring with our dog. Unfortunately, we didn't find them soon enough and our dog suffered for years because of it. We had been to many vets and spent lots of time and money to help our dog manage a skin condition. Dr.H was the only one that found a cure and eased his constant discomfort. Unfortunately, time was not on our side but again Dr H was there for us at the end. read more

I'm thinking the 1-star reviews are unfortunately reviewing the wrong vet clinic in Holt. I have been a client for the past ten years and couldn't say enough wonderful things about the doctor and staff here. I highly recommend this clinic and will always be a client as long as I have pets. read more

My first experience was awesome.. They treated me so well as a new customer, especially the receptionist, I unfortunately don't know her name. However my most recent experience as a returning client was just awful. It's like they put on a display for your first visit just to get you back. There was a different doctor that clearly didn't like pit bulls based on the behavior he displayed towards him as he screamed at him for jumping up on him in contrast to my chow mix, who was also jumping up.. After that it felt like he was holding a grudge against the dogs as well as me. As the visit proceeded he continued to give my chow mix his vaccinations while at the same time getting a nurse to hold down my pit bull without even asking if I wanted to hold him. So I just went ahead and took the snare off his neck that they were holding him with and held him myself. They way they conduct themselves here makes it seem like they are not animal people with the lack of respect that they have for them. At the end of the visit I asked if there would be anything I should look for or any adverse side effects? The doctor said no. A few days after the appointment my chow mix started acting very weird, hardly able to walk straight or support his weight as he wobbles to the ground and unable to get up. He also has been acting depressed and hasn't even enjoyed going outside over these past few days. These are all things that I had to research after experiencing them as opposed to being told what to expect as side effects from multiple vaccinations at one time since he proceeded to tell me there would be none. Even the vet assistant who does the final paperwork as well as licensing was unpleasant to be around, everything she said was spoken so rudely and short. After this awful experience I will not be bringing my animals back here for any reason in the future and I advise the same for everyone else if you love your animals as furry children the same way I do. There are plenty of other vets in the Lansing area that I'm sure conduct themselves way better than this office. read more

We have been taking Toby, our 13-year-old Yorkie, to Holt Veterinary Clinic his entire life and we couldn't be happier with the care he's received. Dr. Fauser and his staff have always treated Toby with excellent care. Holt Veterinary Clinic always keeps Toby current on his vaccines and regular check-ups with friendly reminders. Toby has chronic allergies and Dr. Fauser has helped greatly in controlling them so Toby is comfortable. When Toby thought, he was Under Dog and made an amazingly long leap off the end of our couch and blew out his ACL, Dr. Fauser and his staff repaired the damage and now Toby walks and runs as if nothing happened. The recovery went just as Dr. Fauser said it would. Holt Veterinary Clinic will always be our veterinary clinic, because of Dr. Fauser and his caring staff. read more

Wonderful staff. Our pets are family and we expect everyone to respect them and treat them as such. We never worry about the treatment our pets receive. The staff and doctors and kind and treat our kids with the respect they deserve. A good vet is hard to find, and we're glad we've found the Holt Veterinary Clinic. read more
