I love this store. Some of the reviews I have read here are petty... We are in the new normal, get used to it. Everyone here is amazing. I went to their competitor (PV) and was very unhappy. Here they took the time to do a full exam (and as suspected) the previous place did it wrong and my prescription was off. The optometrist explained everything to me which was very helpful. I just recently started using glasses (Mostly for reading smaller text) and she was able to point out a few things. Also, I was having a lot of issues with red eye and dry eye (which I assumed was caused by all the medications I take). I had tried Visine and some others and nothing worked. She explained the oil ducts and releasing those. I was 1 million percent happy with the visit. She was very knowledgeable. The staff on the floor was and is extremely helpful, kind caring. One of the girls commented that my partner and I were a really cute couple. Against my now fiancé's wishes (he wants a small wedding... haha) I told the girls they are welcome! The staff explained to me that my insurance would cover bifocals with the visible line which I didn't want. But if I got a second pair I could get what I wanted at a fraction of the price. So I did that and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them. They told me to pick out any frame I like and they would work with me on price. The "other" place brought out a box with 8 frames in it and said "pick one this is all your insurance covers, you can't get any other frames". I was even willing to pay extra. But PV would not let me. Don't go there... a hint it's right next to Taco Johns in Maple Grove..... I will from now on get all of my exams and glasses here. Love all of the staff here!!!! read more

I sure wish I had read the reviews before I scheduled my appointment at the Maple Grove, MN location. The reminder emails and texts (with many spelling/grammatical errors) several times daily was a bit overwhelming. I already completed my paperwork and confirmed the appointment more than once. The complete lack of customer service (rude, cannot multi-task, obviously stressed, made me feel like I was inconveniencing them, unorganized, unprofessional, not friendly, and many more) and the 2+ hour wait was quite frustrating. The prescriptions were filled so quickly, I rushed back to the office hoping for a friendly welcome and new glasses. What a disappointment! Once again, a complete lack of customer service and my glasses don't even fit. They don't even stay on my face. I was told "that's just how the frames are". My prescription seems off and they don't fit and I'm just stuck with them and wasted $200+. I read the reviews about this store today. I feel so disappointed in myself for not diligently researching before scheduling. I'm obviously not the first patient to have this exact same experience as most of the reviews were very similar. Why is this store still open!? I feel obligated to spread the word louder and clearer in the hopes nobody else is duped into scheduling with them. They are tainting the Visionworks name. Absolutely terrible experience. I was passed around to multiple different employees since the person who was supposed to help me showed up to work late. They are very impersonable and the place is not very well kept up. The doctor was virtual so even more impersonable there. It is super hard to get a reasonable appointment time since they don't open until 10, the take lunches from 1-4 and all Sundays are booked up. i will not be going back to this low quality place. The price is no cheaper for it being such low quality. I didn't find any glasses that I liked there either. read more

1. I went in for an eye exam at 4, they made me wait almost 30 mins to run the exam. 2. We went to do the exam and the lady took me to the last one, didn't give clear instructions i also have adhd so i did struggle with the test. 3. !!They do not have an eye doctor!!, they had me sit in a zoom call with a doctor. 4.The guy sam (amazing guy he was nice so no shade on him) called my mother in the room and we had another zoom call with a different doctor, he was TERRIBLY rude and said i was struggling on that one test and that i shouldnt struggle in that test because its easy, shaming me and being completely obnoxious, MIND YOU i didnt get clear instructions and i also have adhd ALSO the lady left me unattended so i was extremely confused. 5. The doctor told Sam that next time i come in i have to take that test again because i struggled too much on it. 6. We were there for nearly 2 hours which was completely unnecessary. 7. My mother also yelled at me afterwards so i blame them for everything i want to sue read more

I went in to look at eyeglasses and walking thru the door "how can we help you?" which sounded more like "what do you want?" but it was busy so I blew it off. No one said another word to me until they thought I was going out the door and they said thanks for coming in.(I was going to the other side of the room) My bigger issue was an older lady came to pick up her glasses and they handed them to her. she asked if they were going to fit them for her and the lady (sitting at the deskdrinking whatever) said why? do you think they need fitting? and the lady said well they don't feel quite right..cust non service person said where don't they feel right...she didn't try to look at them or help or adjust...the customer said, I don't know maybe I will just come back later after wearing them...If you don't have a service person to help I agree with others - close down. I left out the door because if you aren't helping her and you haven't come to see if I need help, (and there was no one else in the store - 3 or 4 employees chatting - so I assume this is your culture and you are not the location for me. read more

My initial visit a year ago was a huge disappointment. Incompetent staff, including the doctor. It's like Visionworks hires incompetents only. So slow in doing the simplest tasks, and my contacts and 2 pairs of glasses took forever to be delivered and their prescription was off. I could see with my old pair of glasses better. It was an ordeal to try to fix the prescription so I decided not to. One of the two pairs of glasses was structurally flawed. I ignored it initially as I really didn't want to deal with the incompetent staff anymore, but eventually it got worse and the glasses started to literally fly off my face for the least movement. I've never experienced anything like it before. Against my best judgement, I took that pair in to "fix" a month ago, and just when I thought the staff couldn't get worse they proved me wrong. The person who was "fixing" my glasses literally broke the arm off, then exclaimed "yep that's broken now". Then she charged me $39 to retroactively sign up for a warranty I didn't purchase in the first place so that they can fix the glasses in the warranty. Otherwise I would just need to buy a new pair. That simple. I took the dishonest solution just to be over with it and will never ever ever set foot in that clown show that claims to be an eye clinic. read more

No bragging about this place anymore. Virtual appointments which require your physical body in their office yet NO OPTOMETRIST in the office. Screened multiple times for health issues to which NO ONE told me that they would NOT be able to do the exam and that I would have to go to some distant office for an exam. All this after being screened multiple times on-line, phone call etc. For those of us that take time off from work to attend these appointments this is costly. All I heard was a bunch of excuses from the staff. Pretty easy to say to a customer via on-line or the screening phone call "if you have any underlying health issues we will not be able to do an eye exam for you." Simple as that. Problem solved. BTW. Your office looks like it needs a make-over. Peeling logo on the desk, dirty carpet ... it's really run down. read more

I stopped by this store on a busy afternoon to get the nose pads on my eyeglasses replaced. Even though all of the staff were busy helping people, I was greeted pleasantly within a couple of minutes of walking in the door. I only waited about 10 minutes before being helped by a very kind person who helped me out. When I asked how much I owed, she said it was free. I will definitely go back here when I need new glasses. read more

I would avoid this location if you can. First, there's no optometrist in house and everything is done via Telehealth. The front of house staff perform the eye exam tests and send them remotely to the optometrist in Elk River. The staff were the only good thing about this location. They were friendly and communicative. There was some slowness due to new employees being trained, but everyone needs to learn so I can't dock them on that. The space they have is small with one chair available while you wait. The building is run down with water stained and broken ceiling tiles, peeling chairs used to take the tests, and dirty floors and sinks. The equipment used to take exam measurements wasn't cleaned - there were face prints and hair on most of the equipment I used. Other optometrists offices I've visited have quick turnaround times for delivery of lenses, but this location will take up to two weeks for delivery. I'd find another office for your eye exam if possible. read more

The worst establishment across different locations. Always understaffed. Customer service is very poor and there isn't even a phone number where you can call and speak to an associate. I drove out in a blizzard after my dog ate my glasses and I had to wait behind several other people. Because I was ten minutes late, in a snowstorm mind you, the awful girl behind the counter told me I would have to wait another hour. Mask policy was not enforced at Maple Grove location. I asked my fellow customer to wear his mask correctly since I have an infant and ICU beds are currently at zero and he ignored me. I couldn't get out of that hellhole fast enough. If I could give this location zero stars, I would. I was here last month & was in the building for over THREE HOURS before I was checked out. Then, I had to schedule another appointment which was cancelled because they were "too behind". Today, I drove all the way here to find out that they are another TWO HOURS behind. But I drove all the way here, so I'm trying to stick it out. As time goes on, my patience is waning. I'm about to walk out. The technicians here know literally nothing about anything. I have been sitting in the "doctor's room" for about 40 minutes now (after waiting in the waiting room for over an hour). The technician has no idea when the doctor will be ready or what an ETA is. This place is a MESS. I have had 3 of 3 bad experiences, and I am NEVER going here again. read more

I have been in this store two times with my husband. He got glasses and was very unhappy with the fit of them, they tried to adjust them, but there was clearly an issue with the glasses. He finally told them he wanted a different pair. He was within the 90 days so they "allowed" him to pick out a new pair of glasses. I feel like this store has a culture of negativity. I have never seen such argumentative or defensive employees. The overall message was the glasses were fine, his face is wrong! My husband decided to go to vision works to save some money. It isn't worth it! We will go back to the small clinic near our home, pay more, but walk away feeling good. You can't dismiss this many one star reviews. The other vision works stores seem to fair better. It is sad to see this and even sadder to see that nothing is going to change. read more

I had an eye exam in September 2018 for glasses, and I scheduled a contact fitting Jan 2019. I showed up for my appointment, and the optometrist tells me that the fitting needs to be within 60 days or the exam or prescription is not current. I'm fine with that, but the way she stated it was very rude. There were no apologies for my appointment being made with this oversight. The receptionist was super nice to make up for her rudeness and printed out my exam and rx. I was able to find an optometrist down the street that allows contact fittings within 6 months. I definitely will not be going back to Visionworks for anything else in the future. One bad experience is all it takes. You lost 3 patients (myself and my children). Bravo. read more

Have a tiny astigmatism after lasik. Went in for routine exam and to get a pair of non-prescription sunglasses. I was quite clear in not wanting any corrections with the lenses as I clearly stated I didn't want any on three separate occasions. They come in and sure enough, there's a correction for my astigmatism. Their customer service was slow in the first place and I'm okay with that so long as the job gets done properly. I'll be returning the glasses and asking for a refund, my business will go elsewhere as they clearly haven't earned it. read more

The manager is very rude she doesn't know how to respect the customer ,when I went there to make a appointment for my kids they said the eye exam is $39.99 I was ok with it but when I was there for my kids and they want me to pay for $79.99 And I tell them that was not the price they told me when I was there to make the appointment and the manager came out and she was being rude look like I lied and she ask me if i want to argue with her........She told me she is a manager (what kind the manager soooo rude) I don't mind how much I pay for the service but they don't know how to respect the customer, I never come back here again and I highly recommend don't come to this place if you don't want it happen to you. read more

My daughter went in today and was told the equipment was broken so they have to reschedule. We didn't get a call. They said they 'tried' but has the wrong number. They called (the right number) several days ago to ask for insurance information but today they didn't have the right one?! Then they also told her they wouldn't have been able to see her anyway, even if their equipment was working, since she was more than 5 mins late. Again, a phone call would've saved us the trouble of driving all the way. So unprofessional. Crappy customer service if you can call it that. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews prior to setting up an appointment with Visionworks (Maple Grove, MN). I have never experienced such inconvenience and lack of customer care. I called to scheduled an appointment specifically for the weekend as I am a working parent. The day of my appointment I received a call from Visionworks saying that their equipment is down for the day and asked to reschedule. I did the earliest possible as I am leaving out of town the following weekend. I took time off work and made sure my appointment was scheduled an hour and 30 mins prior to my daycare closing. I went to my appointment and when I got there, they told me it would be a 40 minute wait and the eye exam may sometimes take up to 40 minutes depending on fit of contacts or glasses. I asked if I could go pick up my kids since it is a 40 minute wait and the front desk employee said no. I told her I have a 40 minute wait, on top of that someone else before me how is it possible that I can't run down the street (5 mins) to pick up my kids and return in time for my eye exam. The Manager then approached me and gave me a time limit of returning in 15 mins. After all said and done, there is no way I can get an eye exam with an infant and toddler. I decided not to continue servicing with them. As I mentioned in my email to Visionworks, as a working parent this is a great inconvenience. Visionworks services do not reflect their stated values. It not acceptable that Visionworks requests their customers for flexibility but cannot provide their customers the same ethics. I will not be returning and I will advocate for others to find another place that values their customers needs and time. I hope this is shared upon the leadership team so they can make the necessary changes to retain their customers as well as conduct an investigation on this particular location to ensure that they are providing high quality services to their customers. I would like to suggest that you give your customers a courtesy call if you are running behind schedule so the customer can make the necessary arrangements prior to their appointment. There is no way this location can continue to retain their customers with this type of service. read more

Don't waste your time or money. The optometrist did not listen (I repeated myself at least 4 times) and he could not explain his thoughts with any clarity or detail. Thank goodness I had a coupon, wasting $30 is better than $90. Also, was severly understaffed. One person working out front (albeit she was very friendly and organized) is not enough. I was there for a little over an hour and spent maybe 10 minutes in my exam. The rest was waiting. read more

Absolutely terrible! I went through the preliminary screening with someone that worked in the front, really unsure if she knew what she was doing. Once the screenings were done, she told me to go pick out a pair of glasses while I waited for the doctor. I told her I don't wear glasses or contacts, do I need them? She looked at what printed, shrugged her shoulders and told me to go look anyway. The wait for the wasn't very long even though they were busy so that was nice. However, when I got in the room, I almost choked on the smell of cigarette smoke. Now I'm not a smoker, but I've been around smokers and I had all I could do not get up and walk out. Going through the is 1 better than 2. I answered as quickly as I could because I heard him get frustrated at the person in there before me and tell him just answer the first second you see it, don't think about it... so that's what I tried to do. There were a couple that they seriously looked the same and I said they look the same. He huffed. He huffed continuously. I finally said if I'm bothering you, I can come back another time. I think he took the hint and was a bit more pleasant after that. Once the eye exam was done (and I inhaled a lifetime supply of 2nd hand smoke radiating from the doctor) he wrote it up and told me "now you don't need to wear them all the time, or even every time you drive, just like if you're driving to chicago or something" what the heck is that? I've never worn glasses or contacts, I read the smallest line perfectly without anything on my eyes, now I need to go purchase a $200 pair of glasses for those instances I may drive 2 states away? After walking out of the room, before the front of the house lady even looked at my exam paperwork, she asked if she could help me pick out glasses. How would she have known the doctor wrote I need glasses if I drive 2 states away?? What a scam! Unfortunately my husband had an appointment a day before mine and has needed reading glasses so we weren't any the wiser when they told him he needs glasses and sold him a $200 pair of glasses.
