I love going to vision works to use my eye insurance coverage. They really stretch the dollar amount being used to get you the best glasses or prescription shades. This location is super convenient, clean and the staff members are so nice! The doctors on sight are good too! I never have an issue taking my kids here to get great service. The selection of stylish glasses and shades are great as well, you get a good variety of options and the prices are reasonable. I think the only downfall here is the wait time when it is busy so just find a good slow time to go in and pick up your glasses . I think this is everywhere because we have been to my eye doctor and Americans bests eyewear and you have to wait awhile to close out on your glasses purchase. Thank you Denean and Gwen for providing great customer service when my husband and I were there getting his Gucci shade lens replacement! You are the best! Parking is a breeze too for anyone that is concerned. I will continue to come here for my eye care needs read more

Overpriced and too long of a wait to get your new glasses while Costco next door is cheaper and faster. Costco got real stylish frames for $109 and lower. Cost of lens is so much lower to $189 compared to $735 and that does not include frames! Yes vision works offers 40% discount but still much more costly. Costco can do it lens and stylish Italian frames for $289 and in shorter time of 7 to 10 days instead of 14 days at Vision(don't)works read more

I tried a new place as this was a preferred provider for my VSP insurance. I was pleased with the efficiency, knowledge and professionalism. From the person check in me in, to the Dr who performed my exam, to Gwen - who took the time to listen to me and assist me with choosing a fabulous pair of Nine West frames from the hundreds they had on hand. I will definitely visit them for my yearly exam, and encourage anyone to give them a try. I did and I was extremely satisfied. read more

Very good experience with getting eyesight tested and getting new glasses which fit just right from the get-go. They were prepared with the details of what my insurance offered, were very prompt and efficient at every appointment, and the glasses turned out well. read more

I am updating my review from over 2 years ago. Today I was in and out within 30 minutes. The staff was outstanding and no pressure to buy their glasses or to take a script to go. The doctor was excellent. The staff was nice and accommodating a complete change from over 2 years ago. I will definitely recommend them to friends and family. read more

I have long been a Visionworks customer, but this was my first time at the Gaithersburg location. I popped in to have an adjustment. I was taken care of by Gabrielle, who was efficient and friendly. She understood what I wanted and handled it quickly and efficiently. I could recommend this Visionworks to anyone. read more

This my first visit to this business as it was time for my annual eye exam and replacement for my current eyeglasses. Excellent staff! Courteous and professional. The appointment started on time. After having been checked in, I was taken through a few eye tests using various machines. My wait to see the Optometrist was brief. He was thorough with the eye exam. He had a few questions from the results of the previous tests and I was able to answer them to his satisfaction. We checked my vision using my current glasses and then further tests checking for clarity. Great news was that my vision hadn't changed as much. My final step was to choose new frames. The assistant who helped me was great! She knew what frames to select and then helped me choose the ones that looked best on me. Within an hour, from the time I arrived, I had new glasses along with computer glasses. I was very pleased with the entire experience. That included what I paid for the glasses. Thank you staff for making first visit a most memorable and successful one. read more

My Wife, Son, and I have been clients of Gaithersburg, MD. Vision Works for nearly 5 years w/ service that was... acceptable. This all changed over the last couple days. I called them and was on hold for 45 mins. I gave up and called them the next day. I was on hold for customer support for 30 minutes. I figured I'd go to the building to inquire about a clogged tear duct I had. I arrived at 0830 but wasn't sure when they opened. I saw two employees enter the building together. The woman told me they don't open until 0900 and I said "Ok, may I ask a question really quick?" She said "No" and locked the door on me. Between excessive waiting times over the phone w/ no answer, waiting times in the office, and poor customer service, they lost three clients. I'll also be sharing this experience w/ my family, friends, and neighbors and seeking a new place for our vision needs. read more

I have used Visionworks for years. I almost always great excellent service and happy with my purchases. This time I received better than usual service. Gwen worked with me to find what I needed without the overt upsell pressure I've gotten from other places. I was promised a 2 week turnaround and they delivered on that expectation. I will head back when I need new glasses read more

If I could give no star I really would. I came here around beginning of April 2022 to order two pairs of glasses. About 1 week later I was able to pick up 1 pair and was told the other would be just a few days. Weeks passed by and I was able to track my order at first where it said "being processed". After about 1 month, still no glasses. I went back to the store and asked about it. They said it could have been a manufacture problem. I went home with no glasses and waited until 2 months passed and the order suddenly disappeared where I wasn't able to track anymore. I went to the store a second time in mid july right before my cruise. They told me they would give me a call. Fast forward to after my cruise: I went to the store today and arrived 430Pm. I was placed at the back of the store to "wait" for the manager. It is now 615 and I'm still WAITING! The manager keeps seeing people who walked in after me and I have been here almost two hours. At this point I don't even want to get a new second pair of glasses if they cancel my order. I will probably NEVer Return again to this store and I am just waiting for the MANAGER TO GIVE ME MY REFUND NOW. this is absolutely ridiculous. If you don't wanna waste your money and time. DO NOT COME HERE. read more

Our first visit was fine but unfortunately everything after that went downhill fast. We were notified to come and pick up new glasses and the frames were not the one we ordered. Had to wait a couple of weeks and never received a call that the correct pair had arrived. We walked in since we were close by and the new ones were there. If we had not gone in and check we ever going to be called that they were ready for pickup? I'm sorry to say that this is not the same Visionworks that used to be there years ago. We will go elsewhere next time. read more

The costumer service is awful. I came to pick up my glasses and no one even greeted me or even acknowledged my presence. Finally, after staring at them for a few minutes, a girl said can I help you. I said I'm coming to pick up my glasses. She just handed the glasses to me. I was shocked they didn't even ask me to try them out to check if everything was well with them. Very disappointed with the costumer service. read more

Will never go here again. They are cheaters. I just wanted the lens replaced on my existing frame since they did not have the kind of frame I was looking for. They charged me full price and when I went to pick up, one of the lens had a crack on the upper corner, they over tightened the screw. They tried to cover it up until I said I needed it to be replaced with the one which is not cracked. They reluctantly replaced it after saying they have to take some 'approval'. When I got the glasses back, the lens was fixed but the frame was not levelled and it was uneven! I did not want to waste anymore time with them since that was already my 4th visit. Their customer service was unprofessional as well. But more importantly they cheat you. The doctor advised me to go for 'bi-focal' lens since she said my near vision was on the 'verge' and I will 'eventually' need to get a bifocal so why not now! I believed the doctor even when my near vision was perfect. Now after wearing the bifocal for sometime, my near vision has actually gone bad. Before the eye exam I could read a book, work on laptop without glasses since I only needed it to see things clearly which were far off, but now have to wear my glasses even to see and read things clearly which are much close by, like my laptop! Please don't waste your time going here. I will NOT RECOMMEND this place. read more

Very attentive staff! Was in and out in under an hour! Best promotions and cost effective frames!

The Store is okay. The Doctor is also okay. However, what makes this experience so bad is the horrible service my family and I receive from Carol every time we go there. Over and over again, she has treated us with such disrespect. She is abrupt, short tempered and impolite. She does not fail to make you feel like you are annoying her. She is always in a bad mood. How come she is the face of the store, and in customer service with her attitude? I keep wondering why is she still there? The four of us stopped going to that store because of her. read more

If you're in need of a good place to find new glasses or for eye appointments, I would recommend at all costs avoiding Visionworks in Gaithersburg. I set up an appointment for 4:00 the week before and when I arrived, I was asked to wait in the back room and they did not start my appointment until 4:30, 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time! I asked if I could reschedule, since I would not be available later and did not want my appointment cut short, but they still made me pay in full for this late "appointment" and would have to pay the same amount for the next and really did not like the way the woman said it to me. I am never the one to complain about a wait, but if you think it is acceptable to delay someone's appointment by a HALF HOUR and act like you did nothing wrong, you are completely out of your mind! read more

Spacious store and decent collection. However, the customer service from Carol was horrific. This woman is the least patient person I have ever come across. I am surprised to see that she is in a customer-facing position. Would not visit the store ever again!! read more

Wow. I am absolutely appalled at how AWFUL this experience was. My sister has Down syndrome and she is 15 years old and she wears glasses - has been wearing them for years and gets regular eye check ups and has never had a problem. The woman doing my sisters eye exam was so disrespectful and harsh and she had absolutely no patience for my sister and regardless of my sister's disability - this woman had absolutely no patience to work with a child in any way. This woman clearly has no experience working with kids and my sister was so frustrated because she just wasn't understanding the prompts. My mom would try to help her understand and the woman snapped at my mom to stop helping her. My sister was basically getting berated for not getting the eye exam results correct. So my sister was CRYING at the end of this two hour ordeal. read more

I went this place for my eye exam and to get eye glasses. I actually don't know what kind of glasses would fit to my face. So it s hard for me to choose. They said here are the glasses choose some and we can try. After I decided on one pair they told me it will be ready in 3 days and they would call me. A week later I called myself, they apologized and told me it ll be ready on that day. Next day I went, they told me it s not ready, it ll be ready 3 days later and they would call me.I called again 4 days later, they told me it ll be ready in a week... Are you playing with me ??I was so upset.i wanted to return it. Why can't u just tell me 2 weeks or whatever it takes. It s so unprofessional, and totally waste of time.. I would never go back there again.. read more

Went there a couple of months ago as I was in search for a new optometrist. The eye doctor I had seemed fine but the folks working on the glasses was another thing. First, the staff that took my initial order did not even explain the options available to me for lenses. I had to ask...does it cover this or have that. This person then charged me based on wrong insurance coverage. I had to get it fixed since it didn't seem right and when I went back, it was $250 cheaper. I go in to get glasses adjusted. It went through three different hands. The person that was most helpful was Lisa (I think that was her name). Another person that tried to help me wouldn't listen to what I have to say, and just said" there is nothing I could do about that"...NO...you can since it is about replacing nose pads. This place is hit or miss, depends who you get. Some are knowedgable and helpful while many there are pointless. read more

I went there for glasses and contact lens, and was told I'll receive both in 2 weeks. Two weeks pass, they still haven't even shipped my contact lens, probably forgot placing the order. Visionworks - Contact solution - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - Gaithersburg, Maryland

If you want to wait for an hour after your appointment to be seen then another hour to checkout then this is the place for you.

I was there in May and got an eye exam and bought the contacts the doctor "recommended" even though they were a little pricier. Fast forward to November I hadn't worn my contacts for 2 months because my eyes kept getting red. I went in and I specially asked to not have a full eye exam because I had already had one, all I wanted was to make sure my eye was okay and to know why it kept getting red/irritated. I had a very short exam about 5 minutes and the doctor had me try on a different kind of contacts. When it was time to pay they had charged me for a full eye exam and a contact fitting. They did exactly what I told them I didn't want and they charged me $140 for the whole 10 minute process. I felt ripped of and cancelled my follow up appointment on the spot. I will never go back to this location/or brand. read more

Great work! The staff is very friendly! I've been coming for 5+ years. Alot of lifers here too.

Me and my family have visited this location before in last 10 plus years and had a fairly better experience but in recent times the staff at this location are extremely lazy and do not take their customer service seriously, its just another walk-in which they want to roll off carelessly. This is it , no more vision works there are plenty of other options available. read more

I went to Visionworks yesterday for the first time. Had eye appointment and got setup for contacts/glasses. The staff was super friendly including Dr. Bhandari. I was assisted by Kim and Mia. Mia was wonderful and helped explain everything that my insurance covered (which was almost everything ) and then Kim helped me find the perfect pair of glasses. It didn't take long at all. She was amazing in helping me find the right kind! Its a natural talent of hers :)) Kim told me she was fairly new so I wanted to leave this review and tell you how awesome she was and you all have perfect staff members!! Keep them around :) read more

I wish I could give them zero stars! This place is awful. I've been going to a different optometrist for years, but they don't accept my new insurance so I had to go to Visionworks. I made an appointment several days in advance and arrived right on time, but had to wait about 45 minutes before I got to see the optometrist. When I saw her, she seemed vas interested in selling me a package to have photos taken of my retinas or some strange thing as she did in checking my eyes. I told her no, and she spent about 5 minutes with me and abruptly ended the appointment. The prescription was the same as my old lenses, but they had a small scratch, so I decided to get new glasses. I ended up waiting another 10-15 minutes for the salesperson to take the order for new lenses for my existing glasses. They said the lenses would be ready the next day. They were a couple of days late. When I got the glasses home and tried them out, they were TERRIBLE. The prescription was fine, but if I turn my head even a few degrees, I start seeing yellow or blue fringes on everything. This is a problem called "chromatic aberration". I've had lots of glasses in the past and I've never seen this before - even on my $10 grocery store glasses! I came back to the store and talked to a guy who seemed to not understand what I was describing and thought I was saying that things were not in focus. He adjusted the frames, checked the prescription, and said everything was fine. I kept trying to tell him that there were blue and yellow lines on every edge and even drew him a picture. He said he'd call the home office to figure out what to do, wrote my name on a scrap of paper, and said he'd call me the next day. I was then dismissed. I called him 3 times over the next THREE WEEKS and he said that the home office hadn't called him back and that he'd call me. That was 3 months ago. I feel that I was ripped off by this company. Obviously I'll never be back there. I'll pay for my old optometrist out of my own pocket next time. read more

I made an appointment for a 10:00 am eye exam - the first appointment of the day. Instructions say be there 10 minutes before. I was there - but the doors were locked until 10. Okay. Go in, person at desk is on phone, can't be bothered with me. I fill out paperwork again (I was a previous customer), and have a seat. A preliminary test was given by the person from the front desk. Doctor strolls in at about 10:07. A few minutes later, the doctor calls another person in for her exam. At 10:30, I went to the desk - both of us had appointments at 10:00. But, the person explained, the other customer's appointment was "a follow-up". I asked how both of us had appointments at the exact same time, and was told that "that's how our system works". Well, it may work for them, but it doesn't work for me. I left without an exam, and will not go back. BTW - when I came home, I had an email from Visionworks telling me I could fill out my paperwork online in advance of my appointment. That's all well and good - but the email arrived 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. 6/12/2018 - Camille left a voicemail reminding me of my follow-up contact lens appointment. That is rich!!! I'm sure the actual person with the appt. is the woman who had the same appt. time as I had last week, but VW screwed and put my name instead. I also received an email reminding me of the appt. Way to run a business, Visionworks! read more

My experience with this place was also a nightmare, due to the unprofessional and inept manager. They had to re-make my glasses SEVEN times because she kept ordering the wrong prescription. What a waste of my time and energy. If not for the help of another young lady who saved the day while the manager was off, who knows how this would have ended. I'd have gone somewhere else but I was running out of time before being deployed overseas. Yeah, this one is a hard NO. I purchased glasses from here and spent around $400 with insurance and all. I needed a new pair, (thank goodness for insurance...or so i thought) so i went in to order the new pair and as part of the protocol i had to leave the damaged ones. I was told i would get a call back and that call never came. I got used to using my old pair that I let some time go by. I call to see if they're ready and apparently i never came in, left the old pair, or paid for the replacement frames. On top of that, i couldn't order new ones because i needed to give them the old frames! (which I had already left there). I had to call back about 7 times trying to catch the manager (which never returned any of my calls or messages) because apparently he has some pretty specific hours or whatever. Overall this was a disaster of an experience and would suggest you steer clear. read more
