We had gone to Arbor Pl., Mall for a date night at the movie, and as I was walking in, I took my glasses off to clean them and the stem on the right side came off. I was a little bit panicked because I knew I wouldn't be able to see the movie without my glasses, and I bought tickets online. We looked around for a place to help and saw Vision Works. From the moment we walked in, our man Julian, took care of us with excellence. I did not buy the glasses at Vision Works because I live out of town, but Julian went above and beyond to do everything he could to make sure my glasses got fixed. He is an incredibly sharp young man who hopes to be an optometrist one day and is well on the way to getting there! I could only believe that someone who took that much care with a broken pair of glasses not from his store would be excellent at fitting glasses. Too bad I don't live close. Do not go here if your eyesight is worse than the average person and you wear contact lenses. Staff was kind, but they failed to inform me of the extra charges that I would have to incur for my contact lens exam. Apparently that is separate from the glasses exam, even though it is all one appointment. After paying much more than I expected out of pocket, I was not even able to go home with a trial pair of contact lenses because my prescription is so high. As an eye doctor, shouldn't you be able to accommodate all levels of vision? Why are contact lenses of a higher prescription not kept in the store like the lower prescriptions? I will be taking my business elsewhere next year because the whole experience has been incredibly frustrating. read more

I absolutely loved the doctor. He was extremely nice and explained everything in great detail. He seemed very knowledgeable and concerned. He didn't try to just rush me through so he could get to the next patient. The wait time was a little long but the doctor definitely made it worth the wait. I purchase a beautiful pair of glasses a month ago, got a very noticeable scratch on a lens at work and because It was within my 30 day grace period, they were replaced free of charge. I went to this location to get my eyes checked on Dec 15, 2019. Today is 02/20/2020 and I still do not have my glasses. I had an eye exam, bought three pairs of glasses and after three trips to the location, three remakes on the lenses, I was still not able to read out of my glasses I asked for a refund. Not one time did they ever recheck my eyes, they just did some Mickey Mouse guessing and ordered new lenses. Now they are refusing to retract my eye exam and I will have to pay for a new exam with another provider. WORST PLACE EVER!!!! You should really take your business to a place that is truly concerned about their customer service, not to this place because all they can do is make one excuse after another as to why they can't seem to get it right. read more

Made an appointment for Saturday afternoon. Very crowded (it's holiday season, so that's expected) in the store. I went to the front desk and said I had a 3:30 appointment. The gentleman barely acknowledged me and handed me a clip board to fill out all my info. I politely told him I did everything online the previous day. He huffed and puffed, rolled his eyes, and got on his computer to check. He said nothing was saved so I would need to do it again. I filled it out again and gave it to him. He told me to go to the waiting area. I wasn't seen until 4:30. Dr. Braxton was very thorough during my eye exam (for contacts and glasses), he was friendly, recommended some ophthalmologists in the Douglasville area, and quoted me a reasonable price for contacts. Sherelle did my contact fitting. Very friendly lady, helped me find the perfect pair of contacts and glasses as well. She was patient with me and genuinely cared about me and what I was looking for as far as a pair of glasses. I rated 4 stars only because when I initially came in, the guy up front must of just had a loooong day and was clearly over it. read more

Would not buy from here again. Unless you purchase a warranty your glasses are not covered after 30 days. For the price I paid ( and I purchased two, reading and sunglasses) I would expect better customer service with faulty products. I called the head office no one answered only a machine. Unfortunately I chose to go with Visionworks instead of my usual provider. They always seem to be busy so I expected the level of service would be good. I was wrong. The exam portion went well. The doctor was nice and seemed to understand my needs. Selecting frames went well, but after that it started to go downhill. The person helping me didn't explain the lenses I was getting so I wasn't sure of the cost. I am used to paying a lot but was a bit surprised at the $800 price tag. I let it go because I really liked the frames and insurance covered all but $350. I was promised a date of 19Jan. I called on 15Jan to check status and was told they were ready and I could come in any time. I was excited!!! Then I got to the store and was told there was a mistake. The manager advised the glades weren't ready. In fact, my lenses hadnt even shipped. I asked if they would make my promise date of 19jan. Jim said yes. That was wrong. I was told today my glasses won't be ready until the 23rd or later. They can't be sure. I had to call and get my insurance company involved to get any information on the hold up. Apparently they didn't communicate my prescription properly or the lab off-site misunderstood or maybe the lenses they chose for me weren't right for my prescription. Either way, new lenses are en route to the store. I can have a 10% discount which does not make up for the fact they missed the promised date. I am able to cancel but it will take 3 days for my insurance to reset my benefit and then I have to do this all over again somewhere else. So I'm pretty much stuck. I'm certain my glasses won't be the correct prescription but I will provide an update if and when I receive this pair of glasses. read more

My experience at vision works was horrible. The only reason I would recommend this office to anyone is because their eye doctor was actually amazing along with the guy who wears glasses, he's the person who handles the contacts fitting for the office. These two were amazing and deserve their recognition for good professional work with customers. The rest of the staff was horrible especially the older lady she had grey short curly hair might have been in her 50s and she was on the heavy side I didn't get her name but she was rude with a bad attitude very unprofessional she even yelled at me during my appointment while she was doing my health screen for my eyes in the back at the station where they check for Glaucoma. This office needs friendly professional ladies in the front that make a customer feel welcomed not a group of older ghetto ladies that think the office is theirs. This office will lose a lot of business because of the frontline workers. MANY customers were not pleased! read more

Started off great but the consult was never given to go over cost. At the end I was being charged for a contact exam when I was booked for eye glasses. We came in with contacts and threw old away when doc gave her a new pair. Never was it mentioned it would cost extra. Now sitting with no contacts because doctor made her take the others out. On hold for over 20 mins to make an eye appointment and no one has bothered to come back to the phone...called back in and was informed that they were busy right now. Very disappointed Don't believe they would appreciate someone leaving them holding like this, don't understand why they think it is OK for them to do it to their customers. I have been to this location several times and this is absolutely the last time. The last two times I would get a "promise by" date that my glasses would be ready and not hear from them so I would call them. Low and behold they would be ready and no one had called. On one pair after calling and finding out they were there I was made to stay in the store for over an hour waiting on someone to check them after I tried them on. This time I began calling around day seven due to their record of not calling me back. The person who answered the phone asked me if I had gotten a call. That was laughable because I never get a call. Called again day eight and nine with the same response. Finally day ten, the promise day I was informed that they were not back from the manufacturer for some reason but she didn't know why. She said that they would "probably" be here today, day 15! So I call today and was told that one of the lenses somehow got broken so they had to be redone and it will be an additional 7-10 days. This is unacceptable and I am utterly annoyed. I understand that accidents happen, but I don't see how they happen to me with this store every time. I will NEVER shop there again. There are too many other companies that get it right the first time and provide much faster service. read more

These ladies were AMAZING! My 84 year old grandmother broke her glasses one morning and they got her in, did an exam and tried to do everything they could to help! The problem was taken care of by early afternoon that includes an eye exam and a lot of time trying on frames. They even took the lenses out of her old frames and found a set of frames that had in stock! SUCH A LIFESAVER! Their patience and attention were amazing and they really went above and beyond for us! Brought my prescription here to get some contacts ordered. They worked with my insurance and made the process simple. My order was ready in just a few days and prices were competitive. I wish they'd carried what I needed in stock so that I didn't have to make two trips, but I can see how keeping such a wide range of lenses in house would be difficult. read more

My experience was absolutely horrible and prolonged. I made an appointment for and eye exam and planned to purchase both glasses and contacts. I went into the appointment and they said they would call when my glasses and my trial contacts came in. After multiple days gone bye I decided to call and ask if my glasses were in. They said that they were in and surprised that I didn't get a call. A few days later I went in to get my glasses and contacts. I was later directed to an assigned waiting area. I then waited more then 30 minutes to be called back. I watched multiple people get called back until I asked when they would call me back. They asked my name and didn't even know why I was there. They had completely ignored me and just continued to help the other customers. Once they figured out why I was there they gave me my trial contacts. I was very confused when they said I had to come in once more to make sure I didn't have any problems with the contacts. And they held my prescription so that I was unable to purchase contacts that weren't from them. They repeatedly tried to get me to buy contacts directly through them as if there weren't any other option. After I attempted to go get my glasses they could not find them. They didnt look for long at all and didn't say anything to me. I then just told them to call me when they found them. Then a week passed and I called and asked if they had my glasses because once again I didn't receive a confirmation call that they were in. The next day I went in for my follow up with my contacts. After finishing with that I once more attempted to get my glasses. Not only to find them "lost" again. They told me to give them 20 minutes to find my glasses. Extremely irritated I left for more than 20 minutes to hopefully come back and get my glasses. Once I returned they had found my glasses. This was my first and last experience at this location. I had a similar experience as the previous reviewer wrote regarding the waiting and reading of that unprofessional sign. What saved this place from getting a rating of 2 was the doctors. The eye doctor was very informative and thorough. However, the front desk service is below average. I ordered contacts and asked for my phone number to be updated, only to find out days later that the update never happened. I found that out after calling to check my order and getting disconnected and having to wait for someone to check a book. It already had taken several rings for someone to answer the phone. Overall, more staff is needed and more attention needs to be given to the clients. read more

It's January 2013 and not much has changed from the last review in 2011. I don't think I will return to this location. Too many unprofessional kids working there. You can tell it's just a job to them. The Doctors were good. It's just the staff running the office are unprofessional in their dress and conduct. They're not disrespectful but unprofessional. After spending 2 hours and being pushed aside for walk ins I was finally taken back for my exam which, in my opinion, was not done correctly. They were really busy and lacked enough staff to handle their patients correctly. I had to make an allotment to return the following day for dilation and to have my eyes rechecked because I couldn't stay any longer. The next day I returned only to wait another hour to be dilated and an additional hour to see the doctor. I was given a completely different prescription from the day before, but felt this one was more accurate. After waiting for another hour and being put behind entire families who came in as walk ins, I asked for my prescription so I could go elsewhere for my glasses. Only then did they actually help me get my glasses ordered. It should be no surprise that it was too late to get them the same day, so I had to return a third time to pick up my glasses. I'm glad to finally have my glasses but only because that means I don't have to spend anymore time there. I would definitely recommend you save your time and money (as most insurance companies don't cover you going to visionworks) and go someplace else. read more
