TLDR: know what your insurance covers. They will lie/misinform you til its time to pay. I told them when I walked in I didn't want to pay extra for anything. I'm here for glasses and contacts and am aware there will be an OOP charge for the contacts. I was assured by three different ppl the 120 from my insurance would cover the contact exam. When I went to check out the receptionist said no, there's an extra charge for toric/astigmatism so I now owed 120 extra. They tried to cite its the insurances fault, THIS IS THEIR JOB TO KNOW THAT. I said I would wait before the exam started so I knew what I'd be paying for and they kept pushing and assuring me to just do the exam. I am disappointed at the waste of time and misinformation and attitude I was given. I have been coming to Visionary for several years now and always the employees are very pleasant and helpful. I really like Dr. Noegel, she is very nice. I started seeing her after Dr. Reed left the practice and I like how she explains what is going on with my eyes and keeps me informed of the health of my eyes. I am a contact lens wearer but my backup glasses needed to be replaced a couple of years ago. I love my glasses that I bought. Based on our insurance we selected this location since it was close to home. Set an appt on line for eye exam, arrived at location & was told they did not have the appt booked, that they were having issues with appt booked on line. Rescheduled for another day that appt went well staff friendly & Dr knowledgeable. Check out was an issue since they could not pull me up in the insurance system, however still sold me a pair of glasses with the ability to charge my flex card. Two phone calls and 3 weeks later finally able to pick up glasses however they are still not sure the insurance is correct. Guess what, you need an appointment. Last year they sold me on contacts that fell out of my eye randomly. And, how come I have been coming there for 2 years and I have to fill out my name, address and phone number when I come in? Did you not text me my appointment confirmation? The Dr was great the front staff was horrible. And to make things worse, I was grossly overcharged. The business takes the consumer and the insurance company for a ride. Can you possibly explain what a $110 contact lense fee was for? $156 eye exam. Refraction $35. Optomap (okay, I'm paying for new technology) $39.00. Each box of contacts for 1 year $130 for $260. I really wanted to support a local business but I am done with this place. It all started back when my husband went there and they delegated his prescription incorrectly to contacts To be purchased through them even though he never specified what he wanted and he created this issue for him or he had to call his insurance company to get it changed. They have been fine the one time I went to them prior, but they are really into pushing their product on you. Today I went in for what I thought was a straightforward optical exam covered by my insurance. When I went to sit down she told me that if I didn't want to have my eyes dilated that I would need to pay $35 to have the machine take pictures of the back of my eyes. I told her that it wasn't a case of me not wanting to have my eyes dilated, but rather I had a bad reaction years ago when I had previously had it done and I can no longer do it. What was supposed to be a cheap visit for me would have turned into over $50 visit I was not expecting.I asked why it was now mandatory for me to use this machine win last year, this wasn't the case. She told me it was because they didn't have the machine last year. I don't understand why I can't make my own decisions regarding my health care and then I'm being forced to pay an extra fee to them. This is the only place where I have encountered this and I will not return. It seems that they have other negative reviews as well I guess it is just their business model. I had gotten prescription lenses from them at least 3 times over the years. The last time I went to them my previous lenses had started looking scratched up. When I mentioned the issue they said it was the way I was cleaning them. In 40 years of wearing glasses never had that issue... but ok. Got new glasses that cost $600 after insurance!!! This was just the lenses- btw, and sure enough, no matter how careful I was they started scratching up. After a year, decided to try St John's eye associate, got expensive frames with new lenses and paid less. No issues with scratches. read more

I have been going for several years but the last 2 years their customer service has gone down hill as quick as their costs have gone up. It tells you something when every year you go in and all the employees are different. I would not recommend them to anyone unless you have excellent insurance. My insurance always covered the cost of my monthly contacts but now they wanted me to pay quite a bit above and beyond. They charge you just to upgrade your contacts and calling it a fitting fee of $150. read more

So I had to take my 8 year old daughter to get her eyes checked. We meet with Dr. Ashley Noegel. She found out that my daughter has thin eyes which took quite a bit of time because that required several drops to be put in her eyes and I'll just say she wasn't really feeling it. The doctor was very patient and I appreciated that. My daughter needed glasses which is where we meet Marguerite. She is an absolute rockstar, she was helpful, very polite. Let my daughter talk her ear off about barbies. She definitely deserves commendation, after we left my kid said I like her she's funny. She made a new friend for sure. read more

I'll never go back. I told the receptionist and the Doctor that all I wanted was a prescription not eyeglasses from them. I found that in the past their glasses are high priced compared to others . After exam, I was given an intensive sales pitch to purchase their eyeglasses. I wasn't interested and told them so. They are worse than used car salesmen! I left very frustrated. read more

My entire experience was awful . From my scheduled appointment starting 40 minutes later. To later to find out after confirming with my insurance that they were in my network. To find out when it came to check out, Visionary Eyecare did not except It. Extremely frustrating. Very poor minimal selection in merchandise eyewear to choose from. Later that day I went to St. John Eye Associates has a wonderful experience purchase my glasses at a much better price. Amazing customer service. I will never refer anyone to Murabella Vision care. Great place! They have a very friendly staff and are very welcoming. I only go once a year but I always enjoy my visit.

I rarely complain but after today's experience, I will not be using this office ever again. My wife and I are both patients here and very recently spent well over $1,000 on new glasses and she was fitted with contact lenses for the first time. While the glasses are on the expensive side, I always try to shop and support local businesses. Well my wife who just started wearing contacts has been having difficulty getting them in and out. Last night she had a bunch of issues getting it out and wasn't sure she did. So to be sure, she stopped in to have them take a quick look to make sure she indeed got it out and to get advice on how to better put them in and out. Well to cut to the chase, instead of a tech or someone looking at her eye to triage the situation, they said they'd have to charge her a $55-60 office visit charge before anyone would look at her. Incredible! I'm in the healthcare field as well and I would think they would take a quick look first and then determine if a full doctor visit was required. So they let her walk out obviously not concerned about her eye. So they lost more than a $60 office visit-they lost our total business and any recommendations we would have given to our large network of friends and associates. read more
